Somerset Painting & Professional Improvements

Somerset Painting and Rick Hartsell are exceptional. I had my house painted and my deck restored. The house was spray painted with 2 coats of a new color. Any area not to be painted was carefully masked off or protected. There was no overspray on the roof or any of the brickwork or ground. Spray painting the house left a much finer finish than brushwork. The cost is absolutely appropriate to the finished product. My deck was 7 years old and the stain was peeling and lifting. Rick suggested a new process from Gulf Synthetics which mixes latex paint with a resin compound. Only minor prep work is required and the finish is guaranteed for a minimum of 5 years. I chose the same color paint as the house. The result is phenomenal! It looks great and will last! Rick and Somerset Painting were a pleasure to work with. They are all gentlemen. They are thorough, conscientious, pleasant, adept, and trustworthy. They took extra care when working on the deck to protect my plants which had gotten bigger than would have been ideal for working around the outside of the deck. We had to wait for the rain to stop and as soon as it did, Rick was ready to go. It was so refreshing to work with a contractor who can be trusted implicitly.

Somerset did an outstanding job for us. Rick is very easy to work with and provides excellent customer service. We have a large colonial and Somerset came in with a very reasonable price. Price included prep work, masking, minor repairs and the painting. Workmanship is topnotch and they used high quality acrylic paint. Work completed on time and on budget. We highly recommend Rick and the Somerset crew.

It looks great. The "team work" of this group was excellent. The painters were on time every morning. They worked hard every minute, took their lunch break and got right back to work. Somerset did an exceptional job painting the exterior of my home. Everything about their performance was professional and done with a keen eye to detail. They started by power washing my home. On their next visit, they spent an entire day prepping the house for painting--caulking, scraping, and patching. These are things that previous painters had skimped on. Every window, deck, door knob, etc., was protected before they turned on their paint sprayers. During the process, the painters were receptive to my concerns and were ready and willing to address each and every one (no matter how nit picky I was being). When they completed the job, I was 100% satisfied. I highly recommend Somerset Painting. The painters showed up at 8:00 am everyday and left between 4-5 pm. Their full attention was focused on completing the job. They were clean and respectful. My job cost about $9000.00. I had received higher estimates in the past and had also used the College Pros, who charged about $5000 (They did a horrible job and were argumentative.) With that said, I would say that Somerset's pricing is somewhere in the middle. It might even be a good deal considering that they use Sherwin Williams Duration paint which is top of the line, coming with a lifetime warranty. Also, the pre-painting preparations were remarkable. In response, to those who have given Somerset a bad grade, I am certain that there must have been some sort of mix up or confusion at play. Rick Hartsell, the owner of the business, is an outstanding member of the business community. He not only returns call in a timely fashion, he goes the extra mile to make sure that his customers are completely satisfied. I can say this because I have used his company in the past, and he is truly concerned with making the customer happy. I hope that this review has been useful. If you want work done on your home in a professional, hassle-free type of way, Somerset is the company to go with. With this horrible winter that we had, the paint on the bricks of my home was peeling. I called Rick, almost one year after the original work, to let him know what was going on. He came out bright and early the following day and peeled and painted the damaged areas, even though the issue was one of the bricks breaking down and not actually peeling. Mr. Hartsell takes pride in his work and his business. Customer appreciation is paramount to his company and I highly recommend Somerset Painting.

had all our siding and trim painted. absolutely perfect! could not be happier with the job results and with somerset! our painter, luis, was very professional and was such a hard worker! happy with price being reasonable and that he was able to begin our job in a short amount of time. was able to quickly respond and correct a problem that resulted from my purchasing the wrong color paint. I had opted to get my own trim paint from a different supplier and it turned out the color had been mixed wrong. I didn't discover the mistake until after luis had painted all the trim! I was horrified at the color! I called rick, the owner of somerset, right away and he immediately came to the rescue! luis repainted the trim with the correct color, and all is well.

I thought Somerset Painting and Professional Improvements was very expensive. They were pretty high for a price. They were very nice and very punctual. He told me that he would have a quote for me within a couple of days and it ended up being a week. I'm very upset when people say one thing and they do another. Maybe they would have been perfectly fine but it's another thing that I didn't care for. Their quote was considerably more and it didn't even include paint or materials. They will make us buy all the paint.

Their price was high and it was the price that made us decide not to go with them. They seemed professional.

Rick was very professional and responsive, he came right away and give me an estimate and stayed in contact afterward I needed exterior repair siding and paint job on my House Unfortunately I went with a cheaper contractor which I regret now But Iam planning to hire them for my inside jobs paint and repairs

They were very professional and their quote was very detailed. I thought they were great. The price was a little high. Maybe I would use them.

Here is the sequence of events 1. Looked up top providers on Angies List - found Somerset to be one of of the top 3 2. Called the top three on your list - 2 of the 3 responded promptly , Somerset being one. 3. Eric of Somerset delivered a very comprehensive quote - much more detail than any others 4. The cost of paint was not included in the quote, so we negotiated an all-in package 5. Once the work began, we had a few misunderstandings on my expectations vs. what was being delivered - in all cases they made it right. 6. The end product was quality - end to end

They prepped very well for painting. Did a great job painting , nailed down a couple of loose corners and cleaned up everything.

My experience with Somerset Painting was brief and limited only to an exchange of prompt and polite emails. Rick was open and honest in his communications with me and I'm disappointed that I didn't have the chance to work with him personally on this job. From our email exchanges I perceive him to be a businessman deeply committed to his customers and doing the best that he can for them.

I contacted Rick at Somerset Painting and Professional Improvements to complete some painting at a rental home I own. His company also completed a minor cosmetic improvement for a water damaged cabinet. I was extremely pleased with Rick's professionalism, reasonableness and responsiveness. Rick was knowledgeable and very easy to work with. His crew did a great job. I would absolutely use Rick and Somerset Painting and Professional Improvements again and would strongly recommend him to anyone needing painting or professional improvement services.

Somerset was everything expected. The siding guys came and were very professional and thorough when they gave me a price. They scheduled the work to be done within a week. Came as scheduled and worked very hard. Explained everything they were doing. They completed the job in one day with half day rain delay. Cleaned up everything extremely well. I have no complaints at all. Would definitely hire them again if needed. Felt that they went beyond the necessary and there were no extra charges. The painting guys were fabulous. Came right after siding was done. They were here early. Also kept everything picked up so that there was no disruption for me. Did a repair in main bath and matched the paint incredibly well. They were so personable and again explained everything they were doing. I added an extra ceiling and they had no problem with that. The results are great and I would definitely hire them again.

Went fantastic! Very professional team, job well done. Cleaned up after they were finished and came back out to fix any minor details missed. One of the best companies I have worked with.
