Somerset Painting & Professional Improvements

I called and I was not sure it they would give service to my area, but after leaving a message, Rick called the same day and came right away to see what was going on. He gave different options, and told me that that week it would be fixed. And that Thursday they came and fixed it in a flash. It was great, because that week was pouring every day.

Extremely professional, good follow through, worked around weather. Applied extra caulk and paint to improve look. Developed feeling of trust and did what they committed to. Finished on time under tight schedule.

All went perfect, no surprises, no disasters! The crew was on time EVERY day, cleaned up after themselves at the end of EVERY day. (the only break they took was for lunch, and that was very short) The job took 5 days with 3 men, so this was quite a large job. (and they came 5 days in a row, and didn't call me to put it off for a day, and leave me in a mess like some contractors do) Painting is of Excellent quality, all lines are "straight"! If I ever asked them to re-do or touch something up they immediately took care of it, and I never got a negative attitude or unprofessional tone of voice from anyone. The job was done with perfection and I am very happy. I would say they do charge a bit more (but well worth it, if you want it done RIGHT), but if you are "pricing" you really need to compare apples to apples. Example: I got one quote that was much less than Somerset's, but it stated in small letters there was only 1 coat to be applied. I knew from previous experience of painting ourselves that 1 coat would not cover nor do a nice job. Somerset will do whatever it takes to make the job perfect and professional. I HIGHLY recommend Somerset Painting and intend on using them again to finish the painting in my home. The job is not complete until YOU are happy and even after that "Rick" does a walk through to make sure that everything is up to his standards. I've seen other homes painted by professional painters and I cannot believe they call themselves "professionals" because they are NOT! Somerset Painting is all that I could have asked for.

First of all, I'm one of "those" (perfectionists) and painting is one of the jobs I feel we can do ourselves and do a good job at it! We've hired professional painters in the past and then spent time cleaning up the jobs they did. Based on this, I wasn't exactly on board when my husband wanted to hire painters for the home we just purchased. After quite a bit of coaxing I joined Angie's list to find a reputable painter or two. After the first conversation my husband had with Rick/Somerset, we were sold. Somerset was flexible (we wanted several rooms painted as soon as possible before we moved in and we did not provide them much notice) and they were fast! Somerset's foreman, Scott, was a professional, and he managed his crew well. I can't state enough how pleased I am with their work! My personal thought is that no contractors would ever treat your home as well as you would, but I must say that Scott and crew did an amazing job with not only painting, but also clean up! After "inspecting" their work, I must also admit that they did a better job than we EVER could have! How many times are you ever over-impressed with the job that someone has done? For me, it's very, very, very rare. This was one of those times! We would absolutely recommend Somerset to anyone and would definitely use them again! As a matter of fact, due to such an outstanding job they did, we're already in contact with them again regarding a couple of new jobs!

Things went well as Nosh called several times to ask me what I wanted done and he asked me to send him pictures so that he could view the problem be hand.

The crew of three men sent to perform the work were courteous, professional and efficient. They began each day assessing the steps needed to ensure a smooth workflow and ended the day with a basic plan for the next. The job required a large scaffold which was constructed and deconstructed carefully without creating an undue mess. While we removed many of the items from the area (i.e. glasses, dishware, lamps, small tables, ottomans etc.) they moved the larger items with care. We were extremely happy with the end result and would highly recommend this crew from Somerset Painting and Professional Improvements!

I bought a deal. Conversation and scheduling was a breeze. Everyone was both professional and friendly. I wasn't home when the repairs were made, but left my siding pieces on the back porch. Everything must have gone well, because I came home that evening to a fully-sided house.

The removal and repair/paint of the ceilings was a big job. They came through with an experienced, hardworking group of 5 men who all showed up on time. There was no skimping on the prep work. Every floor and open space was taped with tarps to control the great amount of dust and dirt that comes with this type of removal. Yet, dust still found it's way into the home's interior. At the end of each day they carted out the debris and spent some time doing a clean-up of each room to minimize the dirt. The paint job is smooth and beautiful. I have had many painters over the years, some were good and others a mistake. Working with Somerset Painting and their 5 man team made this job go quickly and as less stressful as possible. Cannot say enough.

Easily the best service provider experience. We had a very tight time frame for the work because we were closing on a new house and moving in a week later. We wanted the painting done the week between closing and moving. Somerset was the only company I could think of that might be able to deliver on this timing. Although they're viewed as more expensive, that's not entirely true. I opted for a cheaper bid on another house and ended up paying the same for over run and extra hotel nights, while getting less quality. Value is more than just cost. Quality and competitive cost is value, and that's what Somerset delivers. Eric, Tom and Tom all did a great job. Eric managed the contract and was quick with follow-up. He and Tom came over to check out the house and deliver paint on a weekend to prepare to start the next week. Tom managed the on-site crew and made sure we were satisfied with every detail, even to the point of a follow-up visit for touch up. We even had to change a bedroom color on the last day because I gave them the wrong color code. No problem to fix and took no extra days to finish. Another Tom did the touch-up work, made sure we were happy with the result and told us to call if there were any issues. I was home when Tom did the touch-up - they paint fast. Makes more sense how they were done ahead of schedule. The job is done as close to perfect as a newly built home allows. Somerset takes the time to do proper prep work and cleanup - no dust throughout the house. Even on new walls with contractor paint, they sand to get a smooth texture. I was surprised when they said they would do this as many painters would look at new contractor white walls as an opportunity to skip sanding. There is a real difference between a smooth or chalky wall and I didn't have to ask for this level of detail. If you want the job done right and on time, Somerset should be at the top of your list.

Initial call was responded to within 24 hours. Rick was very friendly and professional. After reviewing several quotes I chose Somerset Painting. The job was scheduled and the paint was ordered ahead of time. The actual work was done in 4 hours or so. Great care was taken to cover the floor and openings to other rooms (including the stairwell leading to the main floor). There was very little paint smell coming up from the basement. Overall I'm very pleased with the cost, timing and results. There was a slight mix-up regarding how much the paint cost was, but Rick was very quick to resolve it - no complaints.

Due to recent ice build up on the roof we had water leak through the roof and our kitchen dry wall had been damaged in certain areas. We wanted a reliable construction company to address our situation. Based on raving reviews from Angie's List we picked Somerset painting to provide us a quote. I called them and left a message. Rick was prompt - called us back within an hour. Rick wanted to come in an assess our situation but couldn't come in at the time we are available. Since there was no follow up call, we ended up calling some other painter to provide us the quote. Reading other reviews I am sure Somerset Painting does a great job, but I was not fortunate to get their services.

Rick's crew did the job in a few days and it looks great. They had to match preexisting stain so the job was more complicated than we expected. We are thrilled with the results and how beautifully the doors and trim mesh.

We never connected to get an appointment scheduled. Initially, we were both responsive. I did speak with them once, but was told they were having personal issues and the appointment was not scheduled. I had a specific amount of time to get the work done. I think that we both ended up getting busy and neither of us followed up with each other. I may consider using them in the future for design ideas on exterior painting.

They were on time and completed work as scheduled. Overall good quality, but had to call back for poor surface finish in one room and to complete painting of both sides of one door. Work was satisfactory after this.

Wes and another team member came out to the house to remove a cabinet above the new stove we'd recently replaced. The cabinet above the stove needed to be removed so there was sufficient room between the stovetop and the microwave above. All the cabinets in the kitchen are "handmade" and there was no easy way for the one above the stove to be removed. Additionally, the electrical outlet needed to be moved to accommodate the microwave. Wes quoted the job at $500. They stated it would cost another $250 for them to do any finish carpentry and to put the microwave up. I declined that. They returned two days later to complete the job. While the price seemed high for them essentially creating a hole in my kitchen wall, they had to work hard to get the cabinet out of the space without substantially damaging the cabinets around it. They worked quickly and completed the job within 4 hours. They left the work area in relatively good shape, but didn't clean up all of the particle board and dust left from the demo. They did take all of the cabinet remnants with them. It wasn't until a few days later when my husband and I were installing the microwave that we saw the top of the stove in a shadow for the first time and we realized the top of our brand new stove had been dented in three separate places. In order for the stove to be dented like that, Wes had to have seen the cabinet pieces dropping onto it. I understand there was a risk because of the complexity of the job, but I would have appreciated them pointing out the damage to me that day instead of me discovering it on my own. Unfortunately, a family member became gravely ill that same day, so I didn't have the desire to tackle following up with Somerset about this. That lack of follow up (and the lateness of the review) is on me. I would have Somerset come out again to complete a job. But next time I would request a written quote and a signed contract that details their process and policies for damage done during contracted work.

Rick, was a pleasure to work with. Hi was very responsive and worked to get the details and pricing that I was looking for. Rick uses technology to his advantage to get you what you need. I really appreciate the time Rick spent getting the quote for me. The work is going in a different direction, but Rick and his company are very professional and I highly recommend them.

Horrible . Rick is a nice guy however he subcontracted The job to some painters who did a bad job Including painting over marble and did very messy job

They showed up on time even with a storm pending to say they would be back the next day. We had a lot of storms last summer (2013) and they were very good working around them. It was a real pleasure having these guys around my house. They also were helpful in getting me in touch with two other projects that had to be done. They said the large front window in the den had to be replaced because it was rotted out. Showed me the problem. No window company would replace just one window, but they did. I am the first house in my sub-division and neighbors were commenting about the workmanship of these guys. I would highly recommend Somerset Painting. From the time I got the estimate and until they left everything went well.

Rick from Somerset came out with his tile man Nosh in the morning to estimate the job......Nosh had a few days open before Christmas and offered to start immediately! We agreed on a price, so Nosh met me at his tile supplier to choose tile and supplies at the special contractor discount. He picked everything up in his truck and was back at our house starting the demolition by 3PM. This man worked like no one I've seen before! He worked until 9 PM! The tile job was completed in three days and beautifully done. The clean up was thorough, and Nosh even helped me out with a couple of loose tiles in my kitchen. He's a real pro, and a very nice guy. This company went above and beyond to ensure that we were completely happy. We are, and recommend Somerset for any project you're considering.

These guys are great. They gave an hour when I could expect them and they came during that time. They had all their supplies and got straight to work. They moved all the furniture into the middle of the room with the ceiling repair, covered and taped down everything. They covered the ceiling with 2 coats so it looks good as new. In the hall, they also had to do the side of the steps, and they taped and covered everything again. They filled in some places with some silicone where it was needed to fill a space between moldings and painted it all with 2 coats. There are cupboards in the hall, and they asked me how I wanted them painted - the shelves? the back of the bottom? so it would be just the way I wanted. They stayed a long day, until after 6, but finished the full job in that one day. When they were done cleaning up, there was no sign that they had ever been here at all except for the nice paint jobs. Nothing for me to clean up! Two days later, Ryan came out to inspect the work and go through it with me, he made sure I was happy with the work and the crew, and then I paid him. Very friendly,complete, and do wonderful work. We've had them before and we will have them again!

The guy was very high pressure with sales. I just did not like the guys attitude.

BEYOND EXCELLENT! Somerset was a professional, highly qualified company all the way!!! They REALLY mean it when they say they will get it done the way YOU want it (or better) & you don't pay the balance until you are completely satisfied!!! Having dealt with other companies doing work in our home around the same time as Somerset, I can honestly say there was NO comparison to the quality of work or ease of my experience with Somerset! I was impressed with their punctuality every day, the ongoing clean up during & after the job, the communication from both the gentlemen doing the work and Eric, the manager, from start to finish and the extremely HIGH QUALITY of dedication & workmanship EVERY single worker displayed every day!!! I've never seen nor experienced anything that great in the home repairs/servicing dept! I don't nor did I know them before this experience but they simply are a cut above....hands down!!! I really can't say enough great things about this company, the HIGH quality of work & their overall top of the line professionalism that truly puts them clearly at the top of the list when it comes to quality!! We will have them back again in the future! I would TOTALLY recommend this company if you want HIGH quality work done on your home!

I called Rick and talked about what was needed. We set up an appointment which they were right on time. We went over the project and I was emailed the proposal in a timely manner. I excepted the estimate, We scheduled the project - On time and working when I arrived. The progress looked great. They had to finish the next day and I went out of town. I got back a few days later and it looked great. All work was completed the first time !!! Great Job !! Great Job and a Fair Price !!!! I will use them again in the future and they are programed in my phone contacts !!!!!
