Exceptional job and very fair price.

Excellent. I needed to get some siding replaced due to an invasive woodpecker. I received quotes from three local firms listed here on Angie's List. Rick came out and provided a quote. I was very specific in the details of the work I wanted to have done, and Rick told me that all of my requests could be done. The quote provided was the least expensive although it was within 5-10% of the other quotes I received. The deciding factor for me was that Rick contacted me a couple days after provided the quote and told me that he had on opening in the schedule the following week during which my job could be completed. I was eager to get the siding replaced so I hired Somerset to do the job. There was only a single individual who came out to do the work. That surprised me because I had assumed that this job would require at least two people. But I was proven wrong as this one man (sorry I forgot his name) completed the job and did excellent work. I have fairly high expectations for the quality of work I expect to be done, and Somerset fully met my expectations. My house looks much better now with new siding that does not have any holes in it!

Rick was prompt to respond to Angie's List inquiry and Natalie followed up to make sure we had heard from him. He gave us the choice of covering the trim with aluminum and vinyl or having it painted. Considering the maintenance advantages of the covering, we decided to make the investment. His bid was fair and competitive. There were a few changes to the work after the initial bid and Rick worked with me to adjust the price and make sure I understood my choices. Luke and Sal who did the trim were very courteous and completed their work in good time. Matt was the head of the painting crew and made extra sure to understand what I wanted. His work was meticulous. Both crews cleaned up at the end of each day. We had new landscaping and they were very careful not to cause any damage.

Somerset Painting repaired / replaced wood trim and stucco boards around the exterior of the house. They also painted the exterior, including the doors and the gutters. Throughout, they were very courteous and professional. I am pleased with the results. I was particularly impressed by their attention to detail and cleanliness.

Rick Hartsell and his crew did a remarkable job the work the did on my home. My wife and I are very well satisfied with the quality of the work they did and the professional manner in which they performed their tasks. I did not know this company before reading about them on Angie's List. I carefully read the reviews and felt confident, based on what I read, that this company would be a good choice. My first meeting with the owner, Rick Hartsell, left me with a strong feeling that the company was a solid company with a long history (for a painting company) led by a person with a great knowledge of the business and a good sense of how to service a customer. This first impression turned out to be fully justified by the experience I had with this painting company. This job may not have been the most lucrative or complicated job that this company has faced, but Rick and his well trained crew treated the job as though it were the most important thing they had to do. I liked their level of dedication and commitment to doing great work and listening closely to my thoughts and desires as they performed their work. Paint work can be disastrous if the company hired does not take care to work on your property as though it were their own precious property. I have witnessed horrible painting on homes where painters left paint on the brick, shutters, doors, windows, pavement and roof of the home they worked on. The painters from Somerset made it obvious from the outset that they cared about the integrity of their work. They chose to mask a number of areas on our house to ensure that no paint was allowed to go where it was not wanted (not all painters do this). They worked carefully and meticulously to avoid making a mess of the work they were doing. They took time in their prep work to clean all surfaces to be painted and did a good job scraping and sanding the rough areas that needed attention. They were not in any way sloppy as they went around the house and sealed all gaps and cracks with epoxy caulk. When they finally began to paint, I was very pleased with the precision they employed in spraying the paint on our home. They didn't spray wildly or in an undisciplined way and they took the time to back brush after they sprayed to smooth out the paint and spread it where it needed to be spread. The first coat of paint (Sherwin Williams 'Duration' paint) went down very well over the well prepped areas. The second coat of paint beautifully finished their fine work. The work on our 3100 square foot home was done relatively quickly, over about four days. They were very efficient and focused. The end product is a beautifully finished exterior. My wife and I are very pleased with the freshly painted appearance of our home. It really looks like new and neighbors have commented on the beauty of the paint finish. Somerset Painting successfully refreshed the appearance of the exterior of our house and have left us with handsome exterior paintwork that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

I am very pleased with the exterior paint job that Somerset completed to my home this past June/July 2014. Rick was very professional and responsive! Rick and his crew were a pleasure to work with throughout the process. Rick has personally come out to touch up a few very MINOR spots. I really appreciate Rick's dedication to ensuring a long-term paint job! I would recommend Somerset to anyone. The price was more expensive than other quotes I received, however the quality of the finished product and the follow-up by Rick was 100% worth the added cost in my opinion.

he came for the quote promptly and offered to assign a painter who is good at detailed work which I needed. The painter came and worked according to my instructions window by window and every corner. This painter did an excellent job. Rick is very nice and honest person. When asked about other repair work, he immediately connected to a reliable person. He deserves AAA.

I received a very friendly response when I first called Somerset. I received a prompt call back from Rick who scheduled a time to come out and give an estimate. I was pleased with the quick response as I had called another company earlier who was not able to come out earlier than two weeks. Rick was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I was satisfied with the estimate and scheduled the work which was promptly completed by Luke. He was friendly and did a very good job. I am pleased with the results and will contact Somerset for any future needs.

Somerset Painting did a wonderful job on our commercial building. This is the second time we've utilized their services and both times we were impressed with their professionalism and skill. The work was completed ahead of schedule and there were no cost overruns.

I FOUND THEM FROM ANGIES LIST - HAD MANY GOOD REVIEWS!!! I DECIDED TO GO WITH A SPECIAL DECK TREATMENT THAT SUPPOSE TO HELP THE PAINTING JOB ON THE DESK LAST LONGER. I WAS TOLD ABOUT 3- 5. I PAID $3500.00 FOR THIS JOB, AGAIN WAS TOLD SHOULD LAST 3-5 YRS WELL A FEW WKS LATER (THIS WAS DONE AT THE END OF THE SEASON IN 2013) THERE WERE RUST MARKS ON MNAY OF THE NAILS. APPARENTLY THEY DIDN’T PREP THE NAILS BEFORE THEY STARTED. I CALLED THE OWNER (RICK) AND WE AGREED TO WAIT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING YR TO FIX EVERYTHING. RICK ASSURED ME THAT HE WANTED TO PLEASE ME AND MAKE ME HAPPY. SO THEN IN 2014 – THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET TO MY DECK FOR MANY REASONS RAIN AND THEIR PRIOR COMMITMENTS. WHEN THEY DID COME BACK THERE WAS 1 MAN THAT DID THE WHOLE JOB – HE WAS THERE FOR 1 DAY AND THE FOLLOWING IS FOR A SHORT PERIOD BECAUE HE RAN OUT OF PAINT. I WAS CONCERNED THAT THEY WERE JUST PAINTING OVER THE STUFF FROM LAST YR AND I WASN’T SURE IF THEY PREPPED THE NAILS SO I CALLED MY HANDY MAN WHO CAME OVER AND HE SAID THEY HADNT PREPPED THE NAILS AND HE SAID TO THE WORKER – IF IT WAS YOUR DECK WOULD YOU DO IT AND HE SAID YES. SO MY HANDY MAN SAID THEN DOES IT!!!! AGAIN THE RUST SPOTS WERE BACK – ON THE STAIRS -EXACTLY WHERE THE NAILS WERE AND I WAS NO HAPPY WITH CHIPPING ALL OVER THE RAILINGS ALSO. I CALLED THE OWNER AGAIN AND HE AGREED TO COME BACK AND FIX IT. HE CAME BACK WHEN I WAS WORKING (INSIDE MY HOME) NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT HE DID – BUT I DO KNOW HE WAS T AMY HOUSE AT THE MOST 30 MIN. AND I DO KNOW HE SLOPPED OVER THE NAIL SPOTS WITH SOME PAINT AND IT WAS A LIGHTER COLOR AND IT LOOKED WORSE THEN BEFORE . WHEN I SAW THIS I WAS UPSET AND CALLED HIM AND HE SAID, WRONG COLOR HUH??? AND I SAID YES AND IT LOOKS AWFUL!!!! HE THEN SAIDI HE WOULD ORDER THE RIGHT COLOR AND FIX IT. HE DID COME BACK AND APPARENTLY TRIED TO SURPRISE ME (I WOULDN’T HAVE KNOWN HE WAS THERE EXCEPT I HEARD NOISES AT MY PORCH) I WENT OUT AND LOOKED AT THE STEPS AND THEY STILL LOOKED BAD. YOU COULD CLEARLY SEE THAT NOTHING HAD BEEN BLENDED IN AND ALL YOU SAW WAS THIE ROUND CIRCLE. I WROTE THE OWNER AND EXPRESSED MY DISPLEASURE. HE CALLED ME BACK AND LEFT ME A MESSAGE ASKING ME IF THE TOME OF MY E-MAIL WAS REALLY THAT BAD AS HE HAD TRIED TO HELP ME. WELL THE TONE OF MY E-MAIL WAS FINALLY MAD AS I HAD BEEN HOLDING BACK ON MY DISPLEASURE FROM THE BEGINNING. THE OWNER WAS SURPRISED THAT I COULD FEEL THIS WAY AS HE HAD BEEN TO MY HOUSE MORE THEN ANYONES ( THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING RIGHT THERE) HE WOULDN’T HAVE HAD TO COME TO MY HOUSE IF THE JOB WAS DONE PROPERLY AND WHEN HE CAME OUT HE MADE IT WORSE. I SENT HIM A LETTER – TELLING HIM THAT I DIDN’T LIKE THE WORK AND THAT I WILL TRY AND HAVE ANOTHER COMPANY FIX IT – I WAS NOT INTERESTED IN HIM TRYING AGAIN. THIS LETTER IS JUST AN FYI – NOT ASKING FOR HIM TO FIX ANYTHING!!!!! PS THERE ARE STILL RUST SPOTS PS; THE HOUSE PAINTING APPEARS TO BE OKAY THANKS FOR LISTENING !!!

Rick was so helpful and prompt in contacting and organizing a mason to come and perform the work. The mason Nosh Vucinaj called me the same day and came out the next day to perform the repairs. Nosh was punctual and did a great job of the walls, very happy with his work - which he is very particular about, he really wants the customer to be happy with his work and he's genuinely a nice guy. He worked non-stop. I would definitely recommend him. Especially happy considering other contractors didn't even call me back. I can't recommend Rick at Somerset Painting enough. He always calls back the same day and will go above and beyond to help get the job done. Definitely would recommend him for any future jobs.

After approximately one year we noticed a few cracks and bubbles on the excellent paint job we had done in the summer of 2013. We called Rick and he was at our house reviewing our complaint within 2 hours. He had his crew come out later that same day to do the minor touchup work required. This response time exceeded our expectations.

I met with with Eric Regan, one of Somerset's co-owners,who was enthusiastic about the job. Later, I met with the paint crew foreman, Jim, and we discussed many aspects of the job, such as scraping/sanding old paint off, replacing rotted wood, caulking, and brush painting instead of spraying the paint on. This was the only major misunderstanding about the job, which involved the type of wood and how it would be painted. Eric thought it was the type of wood that should be brush painted, not sprayed. Jim explained that the cedar should be sprayed instead of brush painted, so that was how the paint was applied. Because of a number of weather-related delays in our area, the painters missed the original start date, and so could not meet the original completion date. This caused me some concern, since I was going on a trip that could not be re-scheduled, and I would not be home to observe the progress and quality of the work. However, upon my return, I was pleased to see that the house looked good, with only a few small areas that required Jim to come back and touch up a few days later. This was a big job, lots of prep work needed before actual painting could start. Crew size ranged from 4 to 6 the few days I was home while they were prepping. We have a lot of landscaping around the house, as well as in-ground lighting, and the crew did a good job of not damaging any of it. I would recommend Somerset for exterior painting based on price and quality of work.

Wanted a quality contractor to paint the exterior of my home. Went with Somerset because they had good ratings on AL and they knew what they were talking about in regards to painting hardie board siding, proper prep work, correct paint, caulking, etc. Took two workers approx. 4 days to do a ~3,400 sf house. House is 12 years old and had the original faded paint from the builder, so there was not much scraping and patching. They used a spray gun for painting the hardie board. Went with SW Duration matte paint and it really turned out nice. Color chosen was slightly darker than the original color on the house so it covered well and could tell that the house had been painted. We also had a couple side doors and our front door painted too. Was pleased with the job that Somerset did and would use them again. Not a low cost painting contractor, but fair for the work done. Was willing to pay a bit more to avoid headaches, and that is how it played out. Good service all around, including skilled, courteous and conscientious workers.

My rental house was looking a bit dingy. I wanted to spiff it up a bit. First contact by phone. They asked for my email address and sent a copy of their workman's comp, builders license, and insurance. Set up an appointment for a quote - very friendly Emailed a 3 page very detailed copy of what was understood to be expected on the job as well as the quote. Painters came first. They were friendly and talked me through what they were going to do. After power washing the house thoroughly I could not rub off any chalking on the old alum siding.- very clean. The paint job looked great. cleaning and painting took a day and a half. The painters went the extra mile by painting all the door trim. A week later they started and quickly finished all the soffit and trim. They went the extra mile and fixed a broken step on my deck. I didn't have to pay a dime until the work was done and I was satisfied. My rental house looks like new.

First of all, I need to say that when I hire a service contractor, I expect excellence and it all starts with the initial responsiveness. Naomi contacted me immediately to set up Eric's visit, which was within a week. Eric was prompt and professional. Within a couple of hours after leaving my home, Nosh called for my back-splash! I gave him approximate measurements over the phone, emailed him pictures, he gave me an estimate and in about a week, Nosh was working on the job! Not only was Nosh prompt, he was a little early, but respectfully texted me from the driveway. Not only is he such a nice guy, he does excellent work! (Did I tell you, I'm picky too). Nosh was respectful of my home and cleaned up beautifully when he was done. I can honestly say, he did a perfect job, we can't find anything wrong. He also instructed me on how to seal the grout after it dried in a couple of days. Nosh is a very skilled and knowledgeable tradesman. I would recommend him a hundred times over!

We contracted with Somerset last Spring but due to neighborhood road work and landscaping projects, the staining was finally done last month. Contacts with Rick were very professional and communication was very good. Rick's crew arrived right on time and finished the job in short order. The redwood siding looks great.

Great. Worked with our time frame. We needed to delay this project for road repair work being done in our neighborhood. Answered questions promptly. Professional crew provided detailed work, cleaned up after themselves and addressed any concerns I had in a caring and business-like manner. I would definitely use again.

Very well from beginning to end The estimation process was thorough, and clear for the work anticipated ...and the written estimate was concise but thorough In the event the work covered everything I expected/ needed I had several estimates from others (some from local neighbors recommendations (via Nextdoor website in Woodcreek ...and some others via Angies List) ; Somerset whilst being at the top end of pricing turned out to be the best balance and choice for us overall and I am so glad we made this choice. Negotiations were fair and friendly and a mutually satisfactory price was reached to meet the workscope agreed I believe the materials used were good quality ..and I expect the workmanship and durability at both properties to last several years Paint team were very professional, caring, detailed in workmanship ...flexible ....Amongst other things, we were astounded in how they put everything back in place in exactly the right place and orientation!....I would highly recommend them to anyone ...and when the need arises will ask for them again. Assurance have been given to address any issues arising .....so overall I am very happy with the project to date As well as the location listed below, we also had a property in Colony Park West done (~2100 sq ft, 4 bedroom Colonial)

Rick, the person who estimated the work, was polite. punctual and efficient. Luis and Javier, the painters, were excellent. Luis was meticulous in his work as was Javier. They too were polite, friendly, punctual and very efficient. I would hire them again without hesitation. The house looks great. Also they cleaned everything up each day. They were a pleasure to work with.

The house looked very nice when completed. Rick, the owner, came out himself for the quote and made recommendations that I very much appreciated. I did not get competing bids but felt the price was fair. I was mostly concerned with the prep work and strongly felt Rick and his crew would do a good job of caulking and identifying any boards that needed to be replaced. Rick also came out and did a final inspection after the work was completed.

We have a two-story Tudor home which has it's own inherent complexities that caused me to be apprehensive about having the work done correctly. For example, I was concerned about having wood replaced correctly and paint applied accurately, but once the team started to work I realized I had nothing to worry about. They did a fantastic job! I was impressed with their attention to detail and the quality of their overall workmanship. They are not the least expensive, but they definitely know what they are doing and they do it right.

I think Rick was insulted since I asked for some addresses of houses he painted, he was very reluctant and I pressed the issue, somewhat motivated by him being hesitant to provide examples of his work. He said he would forward the information with his quote, I never received a quote. He also said he would refer a person who specializes in doors and a mason for some other work. The mason responded, provided estimates and I agreed to his proposals, 3 in total. He provided addresses of where he had done work and I was pleased with what I saw, he has finished the first proposal, and did it well. We are now awaiting material for the balance. Rick called and "resent" the email which I did not receive.

They did everything they said they were going to do. They cleaned up afterwards and they were very prompt. The owner of the company was very conscientious. He would call and he was very patient. They were very good!
