I originally wanted the trim around the house wrapped in aluminum and the porch and garage painted, he recommended having it all done in aluminum, he said the difference in price was minimal and the aluminum would not need maintenance. He gave me several quotes, The trim on the house $4650 and $895 for the garage he also gave me a quote on my deck but I haven't decided when to do the deck yet. They came out the first day and we went over what they were going to do again, then they got started. The project took about two and half days. The workers, Luke, Spencer and Dan answered any questions I had and they were considerate of my work schedule, I generally sleep in the morning, they worked on the other side of house and on the garage in the morning when possible. They were very professional and helpful when I had questions. Luke recommended that I do around my upstairs patio door. I asked how much he said they would through it in for free for the little bit of noise they made in the morning. House looks much better especially the porch. I definitely liked the work crew and I will definitely hire this company again.
Description of Work: They wrapped the white trim around my two story house and garage in aluminum. They also did the under side of my porch in aluminum.

+ -1 moreA section of aluminum siding was pulled away from the second floor east side of my house above the garage during a snow/wind storm in early February. Because of the weather, I did not notice the damage until late February. At that time I looked at Angies List to find a contractor to repair the damage. A special offer was in progress with Somerset Painting & Professional Improvements for $325 for an Inspection and 1 Hour of Aluminum or Vinyl Siding Repair. I purchased the deal over Angies List on 2/28. I was contacted by Naomi of Somerset on 3/3 and I emailed her some pictures of the damage. Luke of Somerset came out to my house on 3/9 to inspect the damage, but was unable to proceed with the repairs because of too much snow on the roof of the garage. Luke came out again on 3/12 and was able to reattach the damaged section, but he determined that other sections were still loose. Finally, on 3/23, Luke came back to the house and was able to complete the job. The total repair time took about 3 hours. There was no additional charge from Somerset.
Description of Work: Repaired aluminum siding damaged by a wind/snow storm.

+ 0 moreI am very pleased with results. They did a fantastic job. They worked continuously throughout the day. They were very neat cleaning up nicely at end of each day. They were respectful of my furniture and all of my items taking care of covering them up. The only things I can say slightly critical would be I was told there would be 2 painters for the job each day and would complete in 3 days. The second painter was not able to come until the 2nd day and it took 3,and half days to complete. All in all I would highly recommend this company.

+ 0 moreThe crew was professional and experts at their craft. I was very impressed with the amount of effort they put into the prep work for the staircase. Nearly a day and a half was spent sanding and preparing any damaged areas so that best possible results could be achieved for painting. During the job I broke a stair, and Eric had a carpenter out to fix the problem that week. Stairs now look and work better than they have in years!

+ 4 moreI am extremely pleased with the result. The ceilings and walls are now smooth and in perfect shape. It looks like a different house! They agreed to replaced window sills that other companies refused to do. Their contract included a detailed checklist of what they would be doing, which I liked. They paid attention to all my requests. While the price seemed a little high I think it was worth it.
Description of Work: Significant repair of ceiling and wall plaster.The ceiling area in the hallway had a "cottage cheese" texture. One of the bedroom ceilings had a lot of waves. There were a lot of wall repairs needed due to shelving being placed on a lot of walls. They replaced eight window sills that were in very bad shape. Painted approximately 440 sq ft (3 rooms and hallway) of main living area.

+ 0 morecame on time and gave a reasonable quote. however, when it came time to paint I called them and said it was predicted to rain.I wanted to postpone it. they insisted that it was fine and that the paint dries so fast it wouldn't matter. Well it did matter and the paint bleed down onto the brick after the rain. in streaks just under the corners of the windows. i called them immediately and they sent someone out with the power washer to try and wash it off. I DID NOT HELP at all and to this day i can still see the streaks.

+ 0 moreWe chose Somerset based on their excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. Adam, Chad, and crew were great to work with -- pleasant and professional, and their work is top notch. The job took a bit longer than we expected, but for good reason -- it was done over the end of December and into January. There were holidays and bad weather (extreme cold, snow, ice) in the mix. Adam did a great job of explaining options, making sure he understood what we wanted, and made good suggestions.
Description of Work: Tore off old aluminum siding and trim, added insulation, and re-sided the house with vinyl siding (and new aluminum trim & gutters). They also added a new window where I'd always wanted one.

The painters worked long hours and checked with me to make sure everything was perfect and exactly what I wanted. Very friendly and professional! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs any painting done. The carpenters that came to do the wood working and door framing were also great. They are very gifted in their craft and had creative ideas to help make everything look beautiful. Overall- Highly recommended!!

+ 3 moreWe had to do a complete remodel of our basement due to the August flood. After working for months of remodel, we had Somerset come in and paint our newly exposed wood ceiling black, which was a job we could have never done ourselves. This was definitely a job for the professionals. The results were AMAZING -- better than I could have imagined! Then they primed both cement and new drywall, with 2 different colors. We originally were just going to have them stop there, but it was such a great job that we had them continue on and paint the walls and trim for us. They were here on time and on schedule -- and professional and talented and easy to work with! We typically paint ourselves but after all the work with the remodel I am glad we hired Somerset to come in and get the job done! It was worth every single penny -- they saved up so much time and saved our sanity! I would recommend them to anyone -- and we are going to keep them in mind for future jobs as well.

We have not had the repairs performed yet as we plan on making additional repairs at the same time (replacing windows along with the siding) and need to save up some additional money. We definitely plan on calling Rick back for an estimate on the entire project.
Description of Work: Rick with Somerset Improvements gave us an estimate to replace siding that was damaged by a wind storm. While on site, he also made some temporary repairs at no cost. He also noticed some brickwork in need of repair and recommended a mason he has worked with before who came out the same day to provide an estimate on that work.

+ 2 moreThis was a home repair domino that kept growing. Eric and the Somerset crew helped me navigate these repairs with clear vision of what needed to be done and when. They were very attentive to what my needs were and keeping me fully informed of the work progress. Their fees were reasonable. I felt very confident after each job was done that I was receiving quality service.
Description of Work: Somerset Painting and Home Improvement was recommended to me via Angie's List Snap Fix for a gutter problem I was having. They called immediately, set up an appt at my convenience within two days the gutters were replaced and additional gutter issues addressed. Eric Regan was my contact at Somerset and he arranged for the gutter services. I had some tuck pointing needing to be done on outside bricks and he arranged for that to be done by the best mason I've ever seen, Nash. Within two days my gutters were fixed and my bricks repaired. I showed Eric my 12 foot door wall where the doors were getting difficult to open and shut. He brought out his construction carpenter and it was determined the I Beam was compromised and would have to be replaced. This was a major job. Within a week Eric's crew was here, prepared my home for as little dust as possible and began the work. After the beam was removed and replaced, the dry waller came to repair the dry wall. Then Eric arranged for the painter to come and paint. The painter and dry waller were very methodical and attentive to having this repair be unnoticeable blending in perfectly with the rest of the ceiling/walls/trim. I never had to do anything except work with Eric on convenient times. All the crews came when they said they would, did quality work and cleaned up leaving my home well cared for.

The reason we chose Somerset is because we know that "you get what you pay for". We wanted the job done right the first time and we wanted to work with a company we felt comfortable with. From the first interaction, I truly felt they cared about our business and making sure we were completely satisfied. Every single person who worked on our house was friendly, hard working, and polite. I always felt comfortable asking questions about what they were doing, or why something looked the way it did. They answered all of my questions and I felt confident in the job they were doing. We are having them come back to paint and fix the wall on an interior room. We would rather pay a little more and know that the job is going to be done right. I would recommend Somerset to anyone thinking about getting their house painted. They are a great company to work with. They provide high quality work in a timely manner.
