Somerset Painting & Professional Improvements

This is my second time working with Somerset Painting & Professional Improvements. Both times the quality of work has been excellent! Will hire them again (and plan to). This time the work was subcontracted out, but still a top-notch company showed up to do the job. They were on-time and did a pristine job cleaning up after themselves and very responsive to touch-up work needed to be done... They showed up on Thanksgiving morning and were in & out in under 20-minutes. Great job! Very satisfied!!

I have used Somerset in the past and I have always been very pleased with their work and their customer service. My recent interaction with the owner, Mr. Rick Hartsell demonstrated how committed to customer service and going above and beyond for their customers this company is on a consistent basis. My garage door was damaged by accident by my postal carrier when she was driving her truck. The door needed to be replaced and needed to be painted before the winter season set in. I contacted Somerset and spoke with the owner Rick directly. He advised all his employees were booked and unable to perform the job since it was late in the season. Imagine my surprise when he advised he could perform the job himself so I would not be left in a bind. As the owner of a very busy company, this is not something Rick normally does anymore but he was willing to go the extra mile for a customer. He quoted me a fair price and came to the home quickly and performed an excellent job. I am very grateful there are still owners and companies that put customers first and truly know the meaning of customer service.

When I set out on my search for a contractor to replace the gutters, soffit and facia on my house i was not expecting to struggle to get a call back. That all changed when i came upon Somerset. They were prompt in their quote and very patient to explain the work that was needed in great detail. They were accomodating as I increased the scope of my project to include wrapping my windows in aluminum. The team showed up as planned and were absolute true masters at their craft every step of the way. Surely not the least expensive of the quotes, but this was a job where i chose quality of craftmanship as a key driver. i would highly recommend them for your next project. .

Somerset does great work! Rick H, the owner, came and did the estimate. He is gracious and professional. The painting was done by Jonathan Martinez and his crew and they are outstanding. The project took two days and included the removal of a structure around one of the windows. I highly recommend Somerset and this particular crew.

Rick and his team at Somerset did a great job of educating us and providing options for our exterior painting project. Rick was overly attentive to questions. Helping us to understand important differences in products, application, and durability. My wife and I wanted to have the right information before making this investment in our home. Rick was patient and informative during the bid process. The crew courteous to my family and neighbors and careful around our home [tarping and cleaning up each day] when completing the project. As it relates directly to the work performed, Somerset used only the best materials and was detail orientated in their work. From powerwashing to making wood repairs, applying the caulk and of course painting -- the team paid attention to the details that other painters have not seemed to care about. The finished product is great. Since completing the job, Rick has followed up to make certain we are satisfied and reminded us to contact him if needed. Somerset comes with our highest recommendation.

Although we didn't hire them, they were professional, punctual and quoted a price in line with other providers. I would call them for other jobs.

This review is for a quote only - no work completed. On a Saturday, Somerset Painting responded within hours to my online request for an appointment to get a quote. I was happy to be able to communicate with them on a Saturday and not have to do it on work time during the week. We set the appointment up for a couple weeks out. On the day of the appointment, Rick called me to say he was available early, but my husband and I were both working. Rick asked me what time our appointment was for - he couldn't remember if it was 4 or 4:30. I let him know the appointment was for 4:30, but that my husband gets out of work at 4 and works just down the road, so they could meet about 4:05 or 4:10. Apparently, Rick was in the area, but didn't wait right at our house, so when my husband came home, Rick didn't see him pull up and ended up waiting at least a 1/2 hour once he pulled up in front of the house. My husband opened the house up, but didn't go outside to approach the vehicle because he thought maybe Rick was catching up on some phone calls or taking care of other business. Long story short, Rick made a comment to my husband about waiting so long when my husband had been home quite a while, but we felt it was more a miscommunication on Rick's part as I told him my husband would be home a few minutes after 4. Other than the timing miscommunication, the quoting went well. Rick was thorough in explaining the prep work, costs, material, etc... This was all on a Saturday, and by the end of the day Monday I had a quote in my e-mail which was nicely detailed and straight forward. $1750 was more than what we were expecting or wanted to pay, but the block in our basement is in very bad shape and needs a lot of prep work. In the end, we decided to go with a lower quote. We hope that we still get good quality work (job not done yet), but we just couldn't justify paying top dollar for an unfinished basement. The bottom line is, we would quote with Somerset again knowing that they have the labor and tools to get the job done quickly, but it will be for jobs on which we're more concerned with the aesthetics and can justify the higher cost.

The paint combination, recommended by Somerset, transformed my house and people say I now have the most attractive house on the street. Painters were professional, no trash left behind, no damage to my plantings. Very satisfied. One of the reasons I paid more than competitive bids was that I had confidence in the warranty. As it turned out, the deck stain on the steps didn't take as well as one would want and wore off in a year. Rick, the owner, personally came and restained the steps, correcting the problem.

I needed a same day repair of a chimney cap due to a leak. Though they could not respond same day they went out of their way to find me a chimney repair specialist who did come out and complete the repair the same day. Thanks.

Excellent! Rick and his crew are awesome. Excellent follow up, his team is very conscientious. They cleaned up everything as they were painting and left no messes. The quality of their work is outstanding as well. Far better than any of the other painters we have used in the area. I could not recommend Rick and his team any stronger. They are an absolute pleasure to do business with.

I recently had my home's exterior and deck painted. I decided to ask for a quote from Somerset Painting after reading several good reviews on different websites and seeing that they had received Angie's List Super Service Award. The reviews turned out to be true. Rick was prompt in returning my call. When we did the walk-thru of the house, he seemed very knowledgeable and made some good recommendations. The crew that came out to do the work was friendly and did a great job overall. As with any project, there were some gaps in communication and some details were missed, but they were addressed promptly. I would recommend Somerset Painting to my family and friends without hesitation.

Folks, you need to look no further. Somerset was professional, on time, friendly, but mostly and what you need, they do a superb job with their painting. We love our new blue home... Rick was fun to work with. He was on his way after lunch to give me a quote and even offered to bring me a sandwich since I hadn't eaten lunch myself yet. Who does that?! Naomi sent us several pictures of what our home will look like in various colors, then in various shades. She was so friendly and patient; it truly was fun seeing what our house would look like before it was painted. Our painters were Luis and Javier, both men immediately cleaned up anything they were working on (not at the end of the day). Our house was a five full day plus process. These men were respectful and the hardest working fellas I have seen in a long time. They would take a 10 minute lunch break and get back to business. We are getting a ton of compliments on our home at this time. Random people stop their cars and tell us how "sweet" our home looks. I highly recommend Somerset Painting. In time, we will have the inside of our home painted and know where to go. Finally, Somerset is humbly working to end s** trafficking. I understand that 10% of their profits is given to help in this area.

We had done Full exterior painting 2 years back. Due to water and harsh weather, the paint was peeling off near the window sills. Rick came by and offered to fix the the cracks and patch other peels even if the warranty was over. He sent his man, got the work done. Kept the promise. Thank you!

The job went very well. The workers were professional and went right to work on arrival. The adherence to detail was appreciated. We had a hard time picking the right color but Rick and Naomi walked us through it. We are very happy with the results. Highly recommend using Somerset painting.

The guys at Somerset Painting were great. I was getting ready to put my house up for sale and needed a quick turnaround on painting my basement. Someone met me at my home within a day to look at the job and provide a quote. Once we had an agreement, they had someone out within a day or two to do the job. Essentially my entire basement was painted (rolled) - floor and walls. I also had them paint the stairwell area going down into the basement, as I could not reach up into the corners. It was a rainy week and the paint was drying a bit slowly, so he had to come back the following day to finish up with a second coat. That added to the cost a little, but I knew it was out of their control so I was ok with it. The work looked great. I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I think it was around $1,000 including paint. Would definitely hire again.

The employees were terrific, job well done. The owner neglected to inform workers that the bill was already paid with paypal. I was not at home, therefore, my husband wasn't aware of the paypal fact and paid again in cash. The owner sent the cash back with employees after an irate phone call from me, he stated that it wasn't a problem. Rick, the owner, should inform employees the transaction circumstances before they arrive at their job location or mark invoice paid in full or payment due. The fact the workers were so good, I would recommend.

We had a big, difficult job. Our house needed a lot of work because it had a lot of old peeling paint and had been neglected for over a decade. We went with Somerset because of their reputation for excellence. They did an okay job. The reason I say, "Okay" is because 1) I had to have them come back out and do some touch ups on things I think were pretty basic and easy to see 2) Our lawn was a mess from a lot of chipped paint and they never cleaned it up, even though their contract said they would (another contractor actually said something to me about it, how it was wrong that it was left in such a mess) and 3) They didn't guard the brick on our house from overspray very well - we have a not-so-nice white mist on the side of our garage that they say will come out but hasn't come out yet and I don't think it will without power-washing. They didn't do a bad job, but for the extra money we spent for them, we thought we'd get better service.

Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Rick kept us advised of the status of all steps of the process and was very responsive by e-mail. All steps of the project were completed over a shorter time period than we expected. We particularly appreciated that Rick was honest about what timing we could expect from the beginning. We also appreciated that no payment was expected until the work was complete and that there were no attempts to get us to pay more than was agreed upon from the beginning. The finished work looked beautiful. Our trim needed to be repainted due to the use of an inappropriate type of paint when the trim was originally painted by a prior owner that caused the paint to peel. All of the trim on our two story house (around windows, edges, doorways, etc.) was power washed and painted. Part of our siding needed replacement due to icicle damage. The damaged siding was removed, replaced, and painted. The completed work was impressive. It is impossible to tell the old siding from the repair due to how it was installed and painted. We would definitely use Somerset Painting in the future for any projects within the scope of what they offer.

The company provided an excellent crew to paint the house. They were efficient, professional and finished the project in a very timely manner. The work looks good and we're very pleased with the result. The only issue I have was I thought the price was a bit high but the work was excellent.

I have recently hired them to paint my home. They actually subcontract the job to others, so the job quality can never be guaranteed. In my case, the painters rushed to finish and have done a really poor job. Many of the areas were event not touched. After the interior work, I rejected them to do the outside painting. I will never use them a gain, and not suggest others to use them.

The painters showed up as promised at the time they said they would be at my home. They were professional, courteous, and very organized. They made sure to cover any areas to prevent overspray and/or paint drips. The painters cleaned up before leaving each day and ask if there were any issues with their work. Great customer service from the sales to the finished product. This is the third time we have used Somerset Painting. I have used them twice at my home and once at my business. They have done an excellent job each and every time! I would highly recommend Somerset to anyone needing painting inside or outside of their home.

Rick at Somerset Painting was a pleasure to do business with. I'm in the design and construction business and i've never worked with a contractor as conscientious and as thorough as Somerset. From my initial contact/estimate through completion Rick was in complete contact. He responds to emails and text messages with minutes.
