I turned a light on last week in the upstairs bathroom and it knocked out power to the lights, bathroom gfi, 3 of 5 duplex recepticles in the master bedroom, 1 duplex recepticle in the guest bathroom, 1 gfi in the downstairs bathroom, and 1 duplex recepticle in the garage. I had no idea what to do to fix. the circuit breakers were all good. I called these guys and the guy came out within 3 hours of my call. he found and fixed the problem in less than an hour. ground wire was loose in one of the duplex recepticles that was working. something I never would have thought of to check!! Money very well spent.

They arrived at the time specified and got right to work. they continued to keep me updated throughout the day on what they were doing and showing each outlet as it was fixed or added. the fans in both bedrooms look great and I feel much better knowing that the electrical outlets that were problematic will not lead to further problems in the future that could be very dangerous to my home and its occupants. The only problem that I did have and didn't realize until after they left was the lack of clean up around the house, otherwise they were great. I will recommend them to others and use them in the future when needed.
Description of Work: Hung 2 ceiling fans and wired them in bedrooms with no previous light access, replaced 3 bad outlets, fixed 2 outlets outdoors with no power and installed a new outlet off the breaker box to accommodate a water softener.

I bought an Angie's List deal for a $54.00 panel inspection. Upon contacting the provider, he informed me that Angie's List had made an error and we were not in his service area. Instead of having me contact Angie's List for a refund, he kindly decided to honor the coupon even though it was VERY much out of his way. He came out and did a thorough inspection. There was even a significant issue that he found and patched up at no additional charge. I am a woman and especially appreciate how he explained everything to me and did not "talk down" to me. I am very sad that this provider is not in my service area. He was extremely professional and went out of his way when he most certainly did not have to. I give this business my highest recommendation.

Andrew came out and did the initial panel inspection and was very thorough. He found a lot of loose connections and took care of them. He was prompt, courteous, and efficient. We knew that we had the right company to take care of all of our electrical problems. We scheduled another date to fix the overloaded circuit. This time, he brought Mike to help him. They were right on time and worked very well together. They put the microwave on its own circuit and took care of all of our electrical problems. They were fast and efficient and the final bill ended up being less than their original quote. We will definitely use them again and refer them to all of our friends.
Description of Work: We had Load Side come out to do the panel inspection that was offered through Angie's List and also to give us an estimate on an electrical problem that we were having. We had an overloaded circuit with a microwave on it that needed to be rewired. It was causing power outages in the kitchen, upstairs bathroom, and basement - everything in that corner of the house was affected. We would reset the circuit breaker but after awhile that didn't help as it kept going out. In addition to that, our bathroom on the main floor had an outlet that had never worked.

Thank you [member name removed] for your review. Microwaves really need their own circuit as the power that they draw is to much to share with the general use receptacles. The result as you know, is nuisance tripping of the breaker. We were glad to help and are pleased that you took the time to write a review. Thank you for your business! Andrew

We have a very old house, built in '32. It has had several additions as well. So we knew the job was going to be tricky. I called Load Side after checking the reviews of several companies. They were able to send Mike out the very next morning, on Wednesday. Mike came right on time and did a great job! He checked over the circuit box thoroughly before ruling it out as the issue, then went through each of the outlets and lights involved. Our wiring usually gave no indication of whether a wire was 'hot' or 'neutral'. Modern wires are usually color coded... if ours was originally, it has faded by now. And of course there were not one or two, but three different 3-way light circuits involved. A veritable bird's nest of wiring! He found one of the issues pretty quickly and was able to restore power to the bedroom, hallway and stairway. Unfortunately the bathroom had some odd stuff going on. After working on it for a while, he told me that he didn't think he was going to be able to figure it out, and told me where we were at cost wise, then asked if I wanted to just leave it with no power to the bathroom, or if I wanted to have him come back with his boss later to see if two heads were better than one. He was very clear that he was willing to keep at it, but he didn't want me to keep paying when he didn't think he was going to get it. Having light in the bathroom is a good thing, so I told him to please arrange to come back with his boss. Within an hour Andrew (the boss) had called to see if the next day would be good. Unfortunately I worked that day, so we set up for them to come out Friday. Friday, after calling to see if we were ready for them, they showed up early. (So rare these days when people show up on time. Even rarer to have the manners to let you know if they will be late... or ask if it is OK if they are early!) They went right to work, opening up all the outlets again, and checking wires and doing all the assorted things they do. The bathroom is upstairs and the circuit box in the basement. I don't know HOW many times poor Mike went up and down two flights of stairs... without complaint! I like to watch what's happening and ask questions and such, and they were both very polite and free with information, telling me everything I wanted to know, and adding information I didn't know to ask about. They were great with the roommate's dog who was quite nosy as well. And no cussing, even when I probably would have been! VERY professional! Unfortunately they were never able to track down the problem. They gave me several options for working around it, and for further things they could do, and explained what it would involve with estimates for doing each of them. In the end I decided to call it a day, and think about my options. They put everything back together and cleaned up after themselves, and made sure I knew everything they had done in case I decided to call someone else (so I could explain what it WASN'T at least). Then I got the good news. After working two hours one day, and eight hours the next (two men, four hours), Andrew told me he didn't feel right charging me when they didn't fix the problem. He only charged me for the work done that succeeded. I was rather shocked, as I know that is NOT how people usually work. I know the education and skill that goes into learning the electric trade, and that their time is valuable. I could not have been more pleased. I was already quite happy to get most of my lights back, and knowing my house I was not overly surprised that it won part of the battle. I would definitely call them again if I need to, and be confident that they would be on time, professional and a pleasure to have in the house.
Description of Work: We had a section of our house (stairway, bedroom, hall and bathroom) lose its electricity. Mike was able to restore most of it, only the bathroom's ancient wiring proved too quirky.

I purchased the hot deal for $59. I had been having problems with the power in 1 section of my home. Andrew emailed within a day or 2 and we scheduled for him to come out. I believe it was originally scheduled for the next day. However, Andrew called to let me know traffic was really bad and we would need to reschedule (it was the week of the big storm). He agreed to come out the following Saturday even though he doesn't normally work on Saturdays. The following Saturday Andrew arrived right on time. I was initially disappointed that the service call was specifically for the electrical panel and Andrew explained what I really needed was trouble shooting and that was not a part of the deal and that he did not have the time to do it that day. He did say that if he had time after the inspection he would take a look but couldn't make any promises. He went about the inspection that was a part of the deal and showed me areas that may need attention in the future. Then before he left he did take a second look at the connections and determined that I did have a faulty breaker, which cut off the power in my family room and garage. He checked to see if he had the part to replace it and he did! I was thrilled. Andrew didn't charge me for the part or the additional time and labor. All in all, a great experience.

[Member name removed], thank you for your review. We are glad you took advantage of our electrical panel inspection coupon. It is a very good idea to have your panel inspected occasionally, connections dues become loose and future problems can be prevented. The requirements for the primary grounding system is one that has changed with the code and many homes have not been updated. The new plumbing systems make this change essential as the continuity of the ground can be interrupted with a change in the plumbing. Thank you once again and we hope we can be of further assistance in the future. Andrew

Andrew responded immediately to my calls and provided an estimate that was significantly lower than one we received from another electrician. On his first visit (to give us an estimate), he removed a branch from our power line at no charge. When he came back to do the bulk of the work, he and his partner worked carefully and professionally to complete all of the work, including staying late so that they could complete all of the work in one day.

I started by calling three highly rated contractors from Angie's List to get a quote. Loadside came in with the lowest quote, and seemed really responsive to my inquires via e-mail and phone. Loadside also stood above the rest in responsiveness, the other two had a several week backup in work. Loadside came out and did the work, and did fine work. This is where the 'good' part of the review ends. After the work was done, and I received my invoice... I was contacted by the Township. I found out that the contractor didn't get the necessary permit through the township (I'm pretty sure this is illegal). Loadside then wanted to charge me the additional $80 permit fee, and $35 in labor to come out and get the permit. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND INCLUDED IN THE ESTIMATE. I feel like Loadside was extremely deceptive, disorganized, and I would never recommend them (even though they did great work). I reluctantly agreed to pay for the permit (it's a direct cost to his business, and the right thing to do). However when I called to tell them that I wasn't willing to pay $35 in labor he EXPLODED on me. I explained that they SHOULD HAVE DONE as part of their job, he's supposed to be a licensed contractor who takes the time to do it right. He ARGUED with me about it. When I threatened to not pay either additional fee, because it wasn't included on the initial estimate or my final invoice he quickly changed his tone. Overall they do great work, but not good enough to overcome their shortcomings. Extremely disorganized, dishonest, and EXTREMELY unprofessional. I'd never recommend this contractor. BEWARE!!!

Member, I have a different view of this incident. I came out to a young couples newly purchased home. You guys were doing a lot of work and wanted the SE cable replaced. As far as I knew it had not been violated by the inspector. With all of the work being done I wasn't sure if you had pulled a home owners permit and we never had a chance to discuss it. The permit was listed on the estimate as a question mark since it had not been clarified. I gave you the best deal I could cutting it very close to the break even line. The job was completed faster than anticipated, and as it is our company policy to reduce labor hours if the job proceeds faster than expected, I had removed an hour off of the estimate price. When you called upset about the fact that the permit had not been pulled I explained to you what I thought had occurred and informed you we would pull the permit but that the price of the permit and an additional 1/2 labor charged would be accessed to the invoice. This you found completely unacceptable. So yes, I did not charge you the half hour labor which as I explained to you was our normal fee for pulling permits. The permit price was was less than quoted to you by the city, a savings that I passed on to you. So in the end you paid exactly the price I had quoted you. The only difference was I didn't get the $35.00 fee for the hour it took me to pull the permit. You were completely satisfied with our work as stated above. How you can say we are dishonest, deceptive and unprofessional escapes me. I will however, apologize once more for the mix up. Andrew

After calling different companies and getting told that they could not get someone out for two weeks. Even after being told that there might be a safety issue. Then I called Loadside. When I talked to him, he said he would be back in the office in about 30 mminutes and he would call me, and he DID. He told me he could be out at the house within 30-40 minutes, and he was. His work ethics, was outstanding. He went about his job as a professional should. He found and corrected the problem, and replaced all parts as needed. He took the time to explain to me what the problem was that caused the short. His price was very reasonable. I wouild highly reccommend this company for your electrical work. The Load Side Electric team was great. Three guys worked all day on our house and did a fabulous job. Some of the work was arduous and messy (particularly cutting a hole in the bathroom ceiling through metal lathe), but they cleaned everything up. They were also very thoughtful about their work and made sure they had a good plan before putting holes in our plaster. We would highly recommend them to others. The only thing I didn't like was that we didn't get a detailed breakdown of costs. I'm a detail-oriented person and like to know what I'm paying for. Fortunately, we had other contractors price out the same job, so we knew the total price was fair.
Description of Work: - hooked up electric to our garage (the line was already buried in the ground), installed motion sensor lights, several t8 lamps, and several outlets (we had already purchased the lights) - installed a combo ventilation fan/light in our bathroom and wired a new switch and timer for it (we supplied the light/fan) - added two outdoor outlets to our house - put a sturdier box in to accommodate a ceiling fan (which we later installed) - installed a new outlet connected to a light switch This was all done in an 85 year old home with plaster walls.

Response from Load Side Electric Co
Member, thank you for your review. We are pleased you were happy with our work. Your job was a little different than usual. I often give a detailed invoice but that is usually on an estimate that I have looked at. This takes office time - some of the hidden costs that people are unaware of. In your case not sure why we didn't do the detailed invoice, I think I had just quoted a ball park price over the phone, to which you guys found acceptable. In any event, we appreciate the review and we do our best to provide quality service. Andrew
