Andrew is a licensed, very skilled experienced AND HONEST electrician. This is the third time I have had work done by this company. The owner, Andrew, has been my hero since the first time him came out to fix an emergency electrical problem. You won't find Load Side rates to be the lowest nor the most expensive. When looking for an electrician, I'm not looking for the cheapest one. I am looking for peace of mind that my home is safe from faulty electrical problems. If you feel the same way, then Load Side is the company for you.

I called Mr. Hutchinson in a bit of a panic as I had messed something up while attempting to install a new hardwired smoke detector. Fortunately, I caught him in the office and he was immediately available. He also tried to help me troubleshoot over the phone before coming to the house. He made it to my house within half an hour of my phone call and figured out the issue very quickly. He then installed all of my new smoke detectors and did some other troubleshooting for me. He was very pleasant, personable, and professional. He also explained what he was doing and why, and how to avoid certain issues in the future. If I need electrical work done in the future, I will definitely call him.

Highly recommend this contractor (Andrew/Load Side Electric). Left msg over the weekend, he returned call Mon 9:00am and had an appt set up for Tues am. Cannot say enough positive comments about this contractor, he is professional, efficient, takes pride in the job he is doing, makes sure the customer understands what the job entails and even educated us on some electrical areas with our safety as his concern (resetting a breaker etc.) Would absolutely hire him again and refer to anyone that is need of an excellent Master Electrician. THANK YOU ANDREW!

Prompt, courteous service. The house is rented out. The technician explained to the tenant what the problem is, and then he called me to bring me up to date on what the problem was and what he did to remedy it. It's been a while, but I believe he also checked kitchen outlets to be sure that they were all functioning correctly. I would hire them again.

I tried to set up the service of $54 for a panel inspection online and it would not allow me to schedule it. I tried 3 times and finally called the business. I left a message and received a return phone call from the owner who stated that he would not allow Angie List members to schedule online and that is why I was unable to do it. He further stated that he would not "go as far as Carlton, MI" (20 minutes) for $54. I asked if it said on the advertising that this offer was only good in certain areas and he did not answer. He tried to diagnose the electrical panel on the phone and told me that if the circuit was popping then don't over load it. I do not recommend this company.

[Member Name Removed], Sorry you feel that way. I informed you that we no longer service your area. The panel inspection is for proper connections in the panel, signs of over heating, and inspections of the grounding system, this I informed you of. You explained your problem, which is an overload situation. That is a service call and not related to the panel inspection. I explained how a circuit is overloaded and how to prevent overloading the circuit while you were on the phone, stating the fix is to manage you power consumption or install an an additional circuit. So actually I saved you money, as you didn't buy the coupon or pay for a service call. This was solid advice [Member Name Removed]. Andrew

Listed to what our goals were. Understood the issues and offered pros and cons to options. Did not try to sell extra services. Explained what he could without requiring dry wall work when he was finished. Completed the project in a timely manner and within the quote provided. The only reason we did not provide an A for quality is because he did not discuss the possibility of using a recessed outlet with us. When we had the TV mounted, we discovered that this would have provided us more flexibility.

1-11-16 i called for an estimate for electrical work for a half bath. Problem was I hired a guy who is a remodeler that was building our half bath in our basement. He included electrical in his price and said he was a licensed electrician at one point. Turns out the inspection failed. So that is where I call this company. In between the time I got the call back from this company, the guy we had hired said he would correct the problem. So, I can't say anything about this company, but he did call back was very knowledgeable and I felt comfortable with him on the phone. Next time I'll save my self the grief and just hire a licensed electrician for any electrical work. I will definately be calling him next time.

[Member Name Removed], Thank you for writing a review, we always appreciate it. Yes it really is a mistake to not used a licensed contractor, all aspects of the job should be done by professionals, for many reasons. One very important reason is that we carry liability insurance, so in the advent of a serious problem you would be covered. Also a company cannot permit a permit unless all licenses and insurance are up to date. I personally would not hire a contractor for any project that is not willing to pull a permit. Andrew

Andrew is very professional and if you want an electrician who will explain everything to you - in detail, then this is your guy. He will discuss your options with you and in my opinion, did not try to sell me on unnecessary services or upgrades that others had suggested. When dealing with an older home nothing is straightforward and Andrew gave me choices and explained the implications of each for circuits, load etc. I really appreciated the information especially as when we perform upgrades down the line I'll know what has been done and what to do next. He was unable to put in an outlet due to the super solid construction of the house, and I opted not to continue. He knocked some time off the bill for this and was more than fair. We will definitely call him again when we its time for renovations.

For me this was a semi-emergency situation. Due to a water leak in my upstairs I had water flowing through my ceiling light fixtures in the kitchen below. I needed a licensed electrician to check the electrical fixtures and overall wiring in the kitchen area. LoadSide Electric came out within two hours of my call. He took down the fixtures which were full of water and securely secured the wires with wire-nuts and electrical tape. He checked the entire affected area's wiring, switches and sockets to make sure they were safe and not affected. Also, upon my request, Andrew changed a faulty light fixture in my laundry room. The prompt professional service was exceptional and gave me the peace of mind I needed to know our house was safe. My electrician of 15 years had just retired and I was beside myself as to who I should call. I used Angie's list and found LoadSide Electric. I will be calling them back to hang my new light fixtures after I have the damaged drywall replaced and painted. I am so delighted that I have found my "replacement electrician" and hope they will be around for the next 15 years for me. THANKS LoadSide for the Peace of Mind you gave me!

One issue was the timeliness of the service, I had had no power to my basement or bedroom for WEEKS, waiting on the company that had installed my circuit panel a few years ago. They are very good but too busy for a small repair, it seems. I called Loadside on Friday, had the call returned Saturday, and had the repair made Monday. Then there was all the furniture that had to be moved to reach all the outlets ? something it had not occurred to me to do beforehand was handled quickly and without complaint. The problem was in another bedroom that I had not even realized was on that circuit, as that outlet was rarely used. Finally, there was the generous advice given on another problem with a fluorescent light in a closet. Andrew told me it was probably the igniter (which he removed for me and made sure I knew how to replace with one I could get at a big box store) but might be the ballast. In either case, he could fix it but said it was not hard for me to do and would be much cheaper if I did. I appreciated that. Service was quick (although it took longer than it had to due to m poor preparation for the service call), friendly, and expert, and the price was just fine. I like that it was a local business, too.
Description of Work: Diagnosed the cause of a dead circuit, replaced the faulty outlet and a couple of others that might have had the same problem later (decades old push-in wiring rather than wound-on-screw wiring), changed the wiring so that a future problem would affect only the switch or outlet and not the entire circuit.

Andrew was able to fit us in the day after we contacted Load Side Electric. He was fast, diligent, and communicated clearly when responding to questions or describing the issue. After investigating our problem (the outlets in our kitchen weren't functioning) and discovering it to be a damaged GFCI (most likely caused by a loose connection), Andrew replaced the GFCI for us. All in all, excellent service.

We had a power outage at our restaurant --- a particular outlet lost power all together and every troubleshooting effort met with frustration. I emailed Andrew (Loadside) on the night of 2/19. I left a voicemail after hours. The following morning ---early-- he very kindly responded to my email, letting me know that he had a full schedule for the day (understandable) but offering some very helpful suggestions for troubleshooting. Additionally, he called and left me a voicemail, letting me know his availability, and offering some additional suggestions. Although we did not get the pleasure of using Loadside to do the actual work, I would use him again in the future because of his kind responsiveness, his professionalism, and his graciousness. I'm a huge fan already, and we haven't even used them yet!

All in all job well done. The first electrician installed GFI outlets in my kitchen (an upsell) without mentioning the extra cost which was a disappointment. They also had to come back twice to finish the job as the doorbell wasn't installed correctly and the outlet covers for my kitchen the electrician didn't have in stock. I had to go to Home Depot on my own to purchase those items. I didn't expect that but I was okay with it as the outlet did require oversized outlet covers.. They did do the appropriate things to correct the job and make everything functional. For the price of the work done, I'm a happy customer. The owner, Andrew, was a nice man and I enjoyed working with him in my home. I will hire them again for any electric needs in my home. Also he is fully insured! What a relief. A lot of handymen out there are not insured which I found out the hard way.

My experience with this company was really excellent all the way around. I called yesterday asking him to come out some time today and he accommodated me. He came out today at a time that worked for me. He gave me a time window of noon to 2 PM and arrived right at noon. He was extremely professional. He quickly and efficiently found the source of the loss of power in our bedroom by doing a careful diagnostic assessment and carefully made the repair while informing/educating me about what the problem was and what he was doing to fix it. In addition, he answered all of my questions about why this had happened (the power was going out every time we used a portable electric heater) and explained the load issues for the circuits in our house, why the circuits were blowing, and how to avoid it in the future. I do a lot of home repair myself and am pretty knowledgeable, but I learned a lot from our discussion. He then replaced one of our under cabinet kitchen light fixtures with a new one I had bought. Again he did this quite efficiently and kept me informed of what he was doing. He was careful to avoid having the screws drive all the way through the bottom shelf of the cabinet. The installation turned out very well. I was very happy with everything he did and the whole experience. I thought the price ($160 including the trip charge) was quite fair. I will definitely call this company again if I need help with electrical issues.

Discovered that my lighting fixture in my bathroom had no junction box [a builder's special - let's just yank the cable out of the wall and attach the cheap fixture]. Loadside came out and did the work before another provider could even get out to get me an estimate. He explained what he found and how he would address the issue. Also gave me a *great* tip on how to address drywall issues that were there before he started the work. These guys are fantastic - I'd have them do any electrical work in my house at any time. So nice to find a provider with integrity that does quality work. Thanks so much!

This provider is exceptionally knowledgeable personable and above all fair and honest. Every step of the way the electrician informed me of any problems or (potential problems in the future). This was done for informational purposes and not to try and gouge me for money. I got a strong sense of honesty and professionalism from the electrician. I have definitely found an electrician I will use on a consistent basis! Dealing with electricians can be painful but with Load Side it was a very pleasant experience. The price was extremely fair and the work was efficient and thorough. I will most certainly be referring Load Side electric to friends family and co- workers.
