Description of Work: Service was performed quickly and professionally. I was frustrated by the lack of information regarding pricing for labor. I received a bill in the mail and had no idea of the estimated cost until the bill was received. I now understand that the labor cost is $200 per hour for the first hour and $100 per hour for every hour after. Live and learn but I will use other providers in the future.

 + -1 moreI had a neighbor's tree fall on my garage roof and the electrical lines to the power pole. I had used Vedder in the past and called them as soon as the tree company was finished. They had a guy near my house who was available. He was there in 10 minutes. He replaced the connections for the wiring to my house and nailed back the insulation and siding on a temporary basis. He also told me that the stud that my wires are connected to was completely broken in half. I now feel safe again in the house and I am armed with good information for the siding repair person who will be out tomorrow. All of this was done in less than 1 hr.
Description of Work: Repaired my main electrical lines to the DTE power pole.

They arranged the inspection for two days later. The city inspector commented that the work was and quot;classic textbook perfectand quot; and that the company has been known for their good work for some time.
Description of Work: The service conduit from the house into the basement needed replacement. In addition, the circuit breaker box in the basement needed upgrading.

 + -1 moreMy bathroom exhaust fan was making alot of noise. I called Vedder Electric to see if they would install a customer supplied fan. We discussed several types of fans. Vedder Electric highly recommended the FV-11VFL2 WhisperFit-Lite 110 CFM Low Profile Ceiling Mounted Fan with Light, White by Panasonic. They agreed to install the fan. Rob arrived on June 29, 2012. He said that the exhaust fan damper was flapping and making the noise. The original fan had been installed with staples and was almost ready to fall out of the ceiling. Rob did an excellent job of installing the bathroom fan. He explained to me that the fan night light would not work, but I would be very pleased with the new exhaust fan. It is so quiet that I never hesitate to turn it on. He also installed a light fixture in my bedroom. I was not sure if it was the right size for the bedroom, but he told me it would be perfect. He was correct. This is not the first time I have used Vedder Electric. I continue to use them because they are courteous, professional and have reasonable rates.

 + -1 moreThey had to dig underground to lay new cable. They put the light pole it on a timer, and they also changed the porch light to be on the same timer. I have been using Angie's List a lot recently. I would definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreMy smoke detectors were alarming every 10-45 minutes, causing great distress to both me and my cat. After trying replacing the batteries and resetting them, to no success, and even calling the fire captain for advice, I finally called Vedder. They had a technician out to my home within an hour, and he was finished replacing all my detectors within the next hour. I wholeheartedly agreed with his advice that, instead of standing around waiting for the next non-deterministic bought of alarms to try to diagnose which detector was causing the problem, it would be cheaper and cleaner to replace all of them. He was kind, informative, thoughtful, and very efficient and respectful throughout the process.
Description of Work: Replaced 6 smoke detectors.

 + -1 moreThey did a great job with all the work and finished it in two days. I always knew who would be in my home (Gary and/or Matt) and Gary, in particular, patiently answered my questions and explained the work that was being done. Both Gary and Matt noticed small problems that I hadn't noticed and suggested what could be done to fix them if I decided to do that. Their trucks were so well equipped that all they had to do to obtain the extra light or remote was walk out to the truck.
Description of Work: Vedder replaced the fusebox with a circuit breaker and moved the outside electrical contact to the house to bring it up to code. Previously the outside contact had been 8 feet above the deck; this problem was solved by moving the outside contact to the other end of the house, avoiding the deck altogether. They installed ceiling fans in the living room and 3 bedrooms; this required cutting holes in the ceiling to install the fans and going into the attic to wire the fans. They placed remote controls for the fans at the entrance of each room. Vedder replaced the light fixture in the dining room, added outside outlets to the front and back of the attached garage, and completely repaired a wiring nightmare in the garage. It is hard to describe the number of wires that had been strung all over the garage; Vedder rewired where necessary and encased all wiring; they also removed a multitude of plugs and switches and replaced them with a single sensible switch. They noticed a similar wiring mess just inside the house from the garage door and fixed that with another single switch. They repaired two faulty light fixtures on the outside of the house.
