The assigned carpenter worked in extremely cold conditions (March was cold this year). The work was more extensive than originally expected (more extensive damage was revealed after tear off). Supervision was good and as needed. I will use them again if the occasion arises. The work was performed to my satisfaction and per my schedule.
Description of Work: Removed wood that suffered from insect damage, and replace it with PVC material. Included working with exterminator who treated the insects.

Overall, fantastic. Brian is a pleasure to deal with, and he is the first and only person I call for work which I need performed. Work is top of the line, and price is more than reasonable.
Description of Work: Misc carpentry items such as building stairs, making handrails, cutting custom fire stop and sealing. Also, replaced and came up with a way to rebuild a second floor deck cost effectively. Other quotes for this type work was around $2K, and they did it for about $500. Really creative, and fantastic to work with! Also, they did electrical work. Also, rebuilt custom deck board under inside sink. This work was across 5 condo rentals. Brian is fantastic to work with, his guys are very knowledgeable and deliver on what they say they will do on time and certainly within or even below budget. Brian is the first and only guy I call when I need something done.
Excellent! Brian and his team are the best. No issues leaving them alone in our home and the quality of their work is outstanding! This is our 2nd time hiring Dinse and we'll be using them again for future jobs.
Description of Work: Brian and his team (David and Mark) repaired drywall and painted two full rooms (including all trim) and added a chair rail in one of the rooms. Brian even assembled a crib for us! They truly go above and beyond. I cannot say enough good things about Dinse Contracting.

For any painter, it was going to be a huge job for us given our hardwood floors, layout of the home, etc. Besides wanting excellent painting, we wanted: -trustworthy team who could be in our home when we weren't there (Brian and his team were professionals.) -responsiveness for questions, advice, and needs (Brian would email, text, and phone as necessary throughout the day/week/weekend as necessary). -transparency of cost (Brian gave us a week by week detailed accounting of his crew and the time spent on projects). -a team that made sure not to damage our detailed hardwood floors (They covered all of the floors thoroughly throughout the home). -would go beyond painting (They prepped the space for painting, covering, taking down fixtures, putting stuff back up, making runs to hardware stores, etc.) -someone well connected (Brian helped us find a reasonable and great electrician to help). Brian really goes above and beyond. He is quite detailed-oriented and rechecks his work often. He holds his team to great standards. Brian takes great pride in his work, and he should. The work speaks for itself. He is polite and courteous and just a pleasure to work with. We would use Dinse Contracting again in the future!
Description of Work: Dinse Contracting painted about 80% of our home.
Brian Dinse is far and away the best contractor we've ever worked with. I contacted him blindly on Angie's List after my wife and I purchased an older home with great bones that needed a major aesthetic update. Brian came to view the house in September of 2014 with the expectation of only doing drywall and paint, and quickly realized the scope of the renovation we intended to do. While the work was way more than he anticipated, he was upfront and honest about the things he could do, and the things he would recommend other people he knew to do. After signing on, he quickly assembled a large crew of workers and got to work. All in we had about 3.5 months of work at the house, and Brian was onsite every single day (aside from a few appointments offsite that he made us fully aware of ahead of time). He was always available for consultation and was very responsive by phone, text message, and email. If we ever had a concern or change of direction in the remodel, Brian would hear us out and work with us to find a better solution. At no point did he intimidate us, or try to twist our arm into doing something that didn't feel right. In other words, he is a fantastic communicator! As for the quality of work, we couldn't be more pleased. Brian is a perfectionist with the details. Our drywall lines and corners are perfect. He would often have his crew repaint a wall many times to make sure it looked as good as it possibly could. Brian is concerned with every single detail of your home and will notice things you wouldn't normally think about.
Description of Work: Full home renovation. Replace old paneling with drywall, repaint, and many other miscellaneous jobs. Brought in Ann Arbor Hardwoods for flooring and bathrooms.

Brian was spot on time every single day. He worked tirelessly to make sure that we had all of the work done properly by our timeline. Our home was originally built in 1885 and Brian worked with great care to manage the challenges and mess that comes from working on a home of this vintage. He also seemed to enjoy it! We have had several contractors who have been less than enthusiastic about working on such an old home but Brian was the exact opposite. It was refreshing to work with someone who was actually looking forward to working on our home! Prior to painting, some sections of clapboard siding needed repair or replacement. This was done expertly and without error. We also had some boards replaced after the full house paint was done (others found later or which had been damaged subsequently in the summer). Brian always made time to stop by to check in even though we are not the easiest family to schedule time with. While working, we identified a defect in a door sill (completely unrelated to the painting) and Brian, on the fly, checked it out and fixed it up in a few minutes. Another contractor was engaged by Brian to assist in the spraying, scraping, and painting of the exterior of our old home. Brian and his colleague made sure that his team was fully engaged at all times and conscientious about the work being done. Care was taken to manage the mess and challenges that come from working with a home built in 1885. Cleanup was pretty carefully done. Brian's attitude was positive and he was by all appearances a good mentor to his younger colleagues. He was giving regular feedback to his team and seemed to enjoy both teaching and learning while working. We were just so impressed with how good Brian was to work with overall. He was kind and patient with our young children who wanted to know everything and anything about what he was doing. He listened to our worries and really worked with us to make sure that we got the results that we expected and to take care of us. We would have him work on our home again in a heartbeat and hope to hire him again for future work. Thanks again, Brian!

During a winter storm, a downed tree branch pulled my power line down. The roof hadn't been performing well, so the wood that the power line was attached to came off with the power line and pulled some sofitt, fascia, and a chunk of the roof with it. This was an emergency situation; Brian was available immediately to start patching everything up. It's an old house (1901) so it was quite a job to make everything fit together but Brian successfully got everything all nice and solid including rebuilding some of the structure of the roof. He also was able to work with me on a detailed plan for replacing the roof to historic district standards and oversaw that process as well later in the year.

Both projects went great as I have come to expect from Brian. The drywall - the first floor ceilings had been starting to collapse when I bought the house. I wanted to take the ceilings out but keep the plaster walls. Brian and his crew carefully removed the ceilings and put up 2x2 furring strips so that everything would match up and be well supported. After the drywall went up, his guys taped and mudded it and successfully joined it to the existing walls. It looks great and they left the area clean and ready to paint. The exterior of the house hadn't been painted for many years and about 20% of the existing clapboard siding was dry rotted. Brian and his crew replaced the siding with careful attention to detail - the house is a large house with a complex shape and there are many unique details about how the siding was originally installed (interlaced corners with no corner trim; outward-curved skirting at the bottom of the first floor; crown molding under that) that Brian duplicated perfectly. I'm sure it was a challenging job and he met it very well!

Brian Dinse is the owner and contractor that we hired to do the job of replacing some rotting wood and trim on the exterior front of our home. He and the crew that he provided, did such an excellent job of replacing some of the wood and trim that we decided to have him complete the exterior front of our home. Brian Dinse ended up scraping, priming, caulking and painting the rest of the front of our home including the trim, our front door, and replaced all of the shutters, for five windows. We told him what paint colors we would like to have him use, and he proceeded to pick out all the right paint colors for the job. We told him what shutter color we would like to see, and he picked out the perfect shutter color, ordered the shtters, picked them up and installed them as well. We couldn't be happier with the results! Brian was professional in every way. He provided us with an estimate right from the start and receipts of all purchases that he made. He was always punctual and never made a promise he could not keep. My husband and I would recommend him to anyone looking for good quality carpentry and painting skills. I plan on having him come back in the spring of '2015 to help complete a few other projects in order to maintain the quality of my home. I have lived in my home for ~20 years and Brian Dinse is the best person that I have had the pleasure of working with. Thank-you, Brian. See you in the spring! Best Regards, Bonny & Gary Anderson
Description of Work: Replaced rotting wood/rotting trim (Carpentry) caulking/priming/painting. Replaced exterior shutters and one electrical exterior light. Plus, we had three problem areas. All three problem areas have been resolved. One area was extremely difficult to reach and replace the rotting wood, but it was taken care of. Another area, we were happy to replace with a trek type of board, the last area was hard to reach too, but when it was finished, it looked brand new.

I contacted Brian Dinse in late September to discuss getting some outside work done to include replacing some wood on my house and garage, and painting my garage. I called him for a quote after reading some reviews about him on Angie’s List. He told me that he was pretty much booked for this season, but maybe if the good weather kept up, he might be able to work me in, but not to count on it. Even though he said that he likely could not get to it this year, he still offered to come out and give me a quote, so I would at least have an additional bid to consider. Well, the weather remained fine a little longer than we expected so he came out and did the job on 10/10 and 10/11/14. His crew included himself, Brandon and Jason. The bid was an hourly rate, plus materials, which I was perfectly fine with. I decided to use PVC boards instead of wood boards in some areas to help extend the life of the materials (this adds substantial additional up-front cost, but they last longer). All in all, I was very pleased with the way everything turned out. The job looks outstanding and they took care of all the details. There were a lot of decisions to make (type of paint, colors, caulk, which boards to change, etc.), and they were very good about keeping me in the loop and presenting the various options (cost/benefit). He and his crew were very professional. Even though they were working this in between some other jobs and got sidetracked a couple of times, they always called to let me know of any schedule changes. The job was done on time and there was no follow-up work required. I would definitely call Brian again for any future work that I might need.

Brian did a great job, he is very professional and finished the job under the original estimate. His communication is outstanding and was very much appreciated
Description of Work: Exterior painting of one side of house.
Brian asked me to provide the level of service that I wanted on a level of 3 to 5 with 3 being an adequate paint job and 5 being the ultimate with taking care of every dent and dimple and I elected 5. It cost much more than I expected but that is what I wanted -perfection, and I was not disappointed. I hope to have them back to complete my garage interior and exterior of the home in the future. Brian ran into a few obstacles but plowed through to complete the task to satisfaction. One example was a new ceiling fan that had some electrical complications. Since he was on time and material versus pricing the whole job out, and I was paying by the hour, he elected to continue without charge on the fan installation since this particular item was somewhat new territory and he wanted the experience. He is very open to communication and will keep you abreast of the pending cost involved and progress needed to complete the task. So far, several of the additional contractors that have come through the house have commented on the great looking paint job particularly with all the challenging straight lines that needed to be addressed with my vaulted ceilings.
Description of Work: Prepared and painted 1850 square foot home plus basement, removed and installed new ceiling fans, lights, removed and painted doors, installed and replaced trim where needed.

This was the best experience with Brian and his team. I am pleased with Brian and his team work. They all are pleasant, kind, and approachable. they have good staff client rapport. They are a trusted team. I felt comfortable in leaving them alone in my home , while I made a trip to the bank. Brian and his team were professional and responsible . They were on time, and never late. They worked hard and continue until they day ended. They were neat and cleaned up behind themselves. They was pleasant and cared about my needs. The work they did was great, and the cost was excellent. Most of all Brian went above and beyond to fit me into his busy schedule. The lights are beautiful in the kitchen and living room. The dry walls and paint job are excellent. The new ceiling on the porch is well done. They did a beautiful job on this house.

I am very pleased with the work . Brian came on time and he was very professional . He did finish the job at exactly predicted time and the quality was great . He did a very clean job and the place looked great afterwards. Very accommodating and extremely knowledgeable to ensure successful execution. He even helped me with buying paint using his discount :). He gave my job the same care and professionalism as he would a big job. He is fair with his pricing and the work he and his man provide was great. Just fantastic and will look to use again!
Description of Work: Painted my dining room and living room.
Brian Dinse Contracting LLC was not our first experience with a contractor, but definitely our LAST. To compare Brian and his team to our other contractor would be like comparing a complete professional to someone who had absolutely no idea of what building or remodeling was supposed to be. Brian and his team came into our home to remodel several rooms. There was dry walling, mudding, sanding, priming, painting, staining, installing new crown and floor molding, hanging ceiling fans and lights, installing blinds, etc. All this was done with the greatest of care. They would clean up at the end of every day. They would sweep/vacuum the floors, put away all their tools, and put back the couple of pieces of furniture so as to make our evening as pleasant and undisturbed as possible. When Brian was working, which was always, he would check and re-check for ANY imperfections in the ceiling, walls, moldings, whatever it was, and made sure it was taken care of. Brian and his team all had their special area of expertise but worked together as the team that they were. If one was needed to do something else, there was absolutely no hesitation. We left them in our home alone, and felt VERY comfortable in doing so, when we had any errands or purchases we needed to make. As I said before Brian Dinse Contracting LLC is our LAST contractor, we mean it. The quality of Brian's and his teams' work is totally OUTSTANDING. Our home is in better shape and looks better than when we first bought it. We would have Brian and his crew back in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, before he left, we had Brian pen us in for next spring to do a complete gut and remodel of our kitchen and eating area. Brian, you and your crew are the VERY BEST. Thank You. Carl & Sue
Description of Work: Remodel vestibule, stairway, landing, formal living room, and a formally paneled family room.
Great to work with him and his team as they are always professional and attentive to the wants and desires to the one paying the bills. Very accommodating and extremely knowledgeable with repairs and processes to ensure successful execution of the tasks. I probably had close to 50 different items across 5 days which his team helped address. Just fantastic and will look to use again!
Description of Work: He performed multiple repairs across multiple homes ranging from drywall repair, painting, minor electrical, and a number of mic handy man repairs. Fantastic professionalism and excellent craftsmanship.

I had water damage in a room whose walls were painted paneling, and the repairs turned out to be more extensive than we'd anticipated. From the day Brian Dinse first came over to assess the job, he impressed me with his comprehensive approach to repairing the damage without incurring unnecessary work or costs. His plan to repair the wall was spot on - the damage was mitigated and the drywall was expertly installed and mudded, the studs underneath were reinforced with new lumber. Then they went through the entire room and re-mudded the seams in the rest of the paneling, even where there was just a little dip in the old mud. They didn't miss a thing - the attention to every detail was above and beyond what I initially thought the job needed. When the last coat of paint was applied, the room looked like new construction - BEAUTIFUL! Even though I wasn't a big job, Brian treated me like I was his biggest job. He gave my job the same care and professionalism as he would a big job. He is fair with his pricing and the work he and his men provide is A-1. The men who work with him are courteous and I felt secure having them working in my home. I can't thank Brian enough for helping me when I was in a difficult situation and going the extra mile to do the job right!

Description of Work: Brian and his staff ROCK! Sanded, primed and painted a large master bathroom with a lot of sap damage and an extremely large living room and front wood steps on a Manufactured Home. These rooms and steps never looked better! I would highly recommend this company again. We are actually considering using this company when we purchase our brand new home to paint the house instead of the builders contractors!

Despite a busy schedule, Brian managed to fit us in over a few days' break in his other jobs, but didn't rush anything at all. Both he and his trusted crew were extremely professional, complete in the information they gave, asked questions and listened to my concerns and issues. Couldn't have asked for a better experience, frankly, and I'd have them back to do more work for me without hesitation!
Description of Work: Our house badly needed its trim repainted, and we couldn't reach most of it ourselves due to the height of the gables. Brian and his crew came out, powerwashed the whole house (even areas that weren't going to be painted, like the siding), masked off the appropriate areas and painted all of the trim by hand. The job was thorough and complete, sometimes applying several coats as the freshly powerwashed (yet nearly 100-year-old wood) started to bleed sap through the fresh paint.
Fantastic experience! Given the number of smaller projects, across a number of units, it was rather a complicated undertaking given the materials and logistical challenges when tenants are involved, but he and his team are fantastic to work with, and very professional. Quality and service of work is exceptional. Brian and his team are very accommodating to add on work, and last minute asks, which I was good at.... Overall he is great to work with, and will hire him for my small to large jobs! Thanks again. James
Description of Work: Brian and his team handled about 40 small projects across 10 different properties over a series of days, and projects ranged from drywall repair including mudding, taping, sanding, painting, deck rip up and repair along with staining, dryer duct work, GFI replacement, to light fixture replacements, to grouting/caulking, to hanging blinds both vertical and horizontal, to a number of other items.

Brian from Dinse Contracting was great; I'd recommend him. He took the time to stop and view the room before providing an estimate. His Angie's List coupon was very reasonable ($400 for a day of labor + the cost of the paint). He and Dan knocked the job out in one day, and the result looks great.

Brian Dinse and his crew transformed a bedroom for us. They spent much time repairing a host of wall and ceiling drywall seams and cracks along with patching numerous small holes and depressions in the walls. Preparation is everything when it comes to painting, and these guys really know what they’re doing. The resulting room looks totally different! They took great care making sure that their work area was sealed (to prevent dust & dirt from entering the rest of the house) and that our floors were covered wherever they traveled within the house. They were meticulous and non-stop while here, keeping me informed of their progress and answering any questions I asked. Dinse Contracting is a highly professional, no nonsense operation that gets the job done efficiently and right the first time. I look forward to having them back for our next remodel project.

Brian did all the painting and it looks great. He knows paint and will recommend the best product for the job. I used 3 different colors and he did an excellent job cutting the paint in-nice crisp edges. He even accompanied me to the paint store to ensure a successful tint that I needed on the trim. He is a perfectionist and wants the job done right. Brian worked with an associate to do the rest of the remodel. There were a few surprises that were normal when upgrading an older home like mine, but the issues were resolved quickly and efficiently, and I was consulted on all of them. Brian provides great customer service. He communicates well, asks questions, and makes sure you know what to expect. He's friendly, punctual, and very dependable. (if he says he's going to do something, he does it...a rare quality in a contractor) He uses quality products too. He cleans up thoroughly afterward and marks all leftover materials for the homeowner. Not only would I recommend Brian but I have hired him to do a third project for me.
Description of Work: Painted himself and worked with associate to remodel small bathroom in older home. Sanded walls, doors & trim. Applied primer & 2 coats of paint. Removed & replaced toilet, vanity, tiles, mirror, light fixture, exhaust fan, heat register, molding, shower hardware. Re-plumbed and switched electrical.
Wanted this work done because the garage is the entry to my deck. Brian did a great job and it's never looked better. Brian communicates well, asks questions, and makes sure you know what to expect. He's friendly, punctual and very dependable (if he says he's going to do something, he does it...rare in a contractor) He knows paint and will recommend the best one for the job. He cleans up afterward and labels leftover paint cans for the homeowner and I like the fact that he's a perfectionist.
Description of Work: Painted interior of one car attached garage with plaster walls, in older home. Sanded and caulked some areas, patched hole in wall, masked doors, windows, molding, and ceiling duct work. Sprayed coat of primer and one coat of paint. (had good coverage).
