Dinse Contracting is the third contractor we have hired in the past 25 years to do major remodeling on our home and this was, hands down, the very best experience we have ever had and far better than previous experiences. Here's why: 1. The quality of the work is impeccable. 2. All the details are perfectly executed and done with pride and attention to each one. 3. The work was done over several months (per the agreed upon timeline) and this was our master bathroom. We continued to live in our master bedroom throughout the work. The workers, every last one, worked so neatly that there was never dust or dirt created by the job that was not removed at the end of EVERY work day. 4. Every last artisan and worker was polite no matter what. 5. As with every project, there were problems to solve, and each time, Brian Dinse worked transparently with us to resolve each one as it arose. For example, when removing the old bathroom, moisture had gathered in an exterior wall inviting carpenter ants and damage. Brian and his crew skillfully replaced the wall, the outside siding and insulated the new walls to create a much more efficient environment relative to heat and air conditioning. 6. Not just with problems, but each step of the way, Brian and his crew communicated directly with us and again, with transparency. This was so refreshing and relieved us of any anxiety relative to the work and what was happening next. 7. The bathroom is absolutely gorgeous and perfectly installed...perfectly. Each person who worked on this project did so with attention to detail and with great skill. The tile work is artisanal/stunning/beautiful. All that you can see looks amazing and all that you cannot see was done with the highest level of workmanship and professionalism. 8. The price tag for the work was exactly as quoted and the work was high end, so the price was more than reasonable. 9. We asked that a few other details in our house be addressed and the handyman work was professionally done. 10. The level of trust that Brian and his people established was high and due to good communication and transparency. 11. All I can say is, I will hire Dinse Contracting again without any hesitation or reservation. They far exceeded our expectations. We got exactly what we wanted...an amazing master bathroom. We are so very grateful.
Description of Work: Old bathroom removed down to the studs. Bathroom completely remodeled.
Brian Dinse, owner and manager of Dinse Contracting, has worked for us on several projects over the years. Most recently, his company remodeled our walkout basement, which entailed a complete reworking of a family, laundry, and bathroom. His crews include by and large are a great group of guys who do good work. His personal strengths as owner/manager are organization and attention to detail. He also takes pride in the results and is a man of his word. In the instances when something did not turn out as he’d promised, or was substandard, he rectified the problem immediately. His first goal is to please his clients.
Extremely well. Every member of Dinse Contracting who worked on this major project over 2/3 months was highly skilled, informative, respectful, efficient, careful and went beyond all our expectations. There was never any construction debris, trash or unsafe work materials. Their professionalism is by far the best we have ever experienced during multiple projects in 50 years of home ownership. We would highly recommend this contractor and every one of his team.

The work Dinse Contracting performed was of the highest quality. They took a real interest in making sure everything was done to their extremely high standards. Brian Dinse is clearly interested in ensuring that the work his company does reflects his own personal high standards. He went out of his way to help me with a number of varied home repair issues I had. Going in, I wasn't certain any one company could help me with all the different items I had on my list of things that needed to be done but Brian came through for me. Dinse Contracting will continue to be a partner for me as I need work done on my home in the future. I highly recommend Dinse Contracting for any homeowner who wants things done right.
Description of Work: Dinse Contracting did a variety of work for me. They did extensive interior paint and repair of both plaster, drywall and trim. They also did exterior painting. Additionally, they completed a number of different "handyman" items. They noticed while looking at my house that there were some deficiencies in the HVAC that they also repaired.
Brian has a team of real professionals. They did a great job on my kitchen and floors.in my living room. The paint job was the next I've seen in Michigan. When small things were done wrong like incorrect cabinet door handle placements or plumbing the disposal incorrectly, Brian stepped up and made it right at his expense. He's honest and upfront which is hard quality to find these days. He's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

We are beyond happy with our new deck! From the first time we reached out to Dinse Contracting, we could tell that Brian and his crew put a lot of care into their work. Brian's excellent communication and professionalism stands out compared to previous contractors we have worked with. The team was able to take our ideas for the design and bring them to life, even though they were a bit more difficult to carry out. We were undecided between having our deck built with cedar or Azek decking, and Brian helped us weigh our options by giving us the pros and cons of each based on his experience as well as price estimates for the different materials. We ended up choosing Azek decking (higher materials price but little/no maintenance and cooler look), and Brian put us in touch with a nearby supplier so that we could choose which color we wanted. Once we chose the material and color, Brian took care of the rest and kept us updated along the way. He documented every labor and material cost (purchases and returns) in an organized spreadsheet and shared digital scans of all the receipts as well. I always appreciate this kind of transparency in a business. Overall, Brian and his team were very respectful of our space, and they cleaned up thoroughly after the project was finished. Dinse Contracting sets high standards of service and workmanship, and they follow through. I would certainly work with them again in the future, and I would recommend them to others for house projects, large or small.
I cannot say enough good things about Brian Dinse and his team. We have worked with other contractors before and have not been nearly as impressed as with Brian and his team. They are all friendly, intelligent, skilled, polite, tidy (they cleaned up every day), and reliable. We live downtown and it is difficult to get to our second floor as we don't have street parking. They were up for the task. We felt so comfortable with them that we had them work on the project for 2 months while we were out of the country. Brian was fantastic about keeping us up to date on the progress. He is a great communicator and sticks to his word. A true perfectionist. Dinse Contracting has high integrity. We were beyond happy with how beautiful our bathroom is now!
Description of Work: Major Luxury Master Bathroom Renovation
We are thrilled with our full basement remodel done by Dinse Contracting. The work is great quality and Brian and team helped us think through all of the details of the project, communicated constantly throughout, and adapted to project changes as we progressed. Brian offered great advice on what would work with our space and definitely doesn't settle for mediocre or average results. The project was completed on time, within initial budget range, and everyone involved was extremely friendly and professional. We felt like we were in good hands throughout the project and would hire them again for any of our household projects.
This work involved two primary parts: significant repairs plus preparation and painting on the exterior, and major wall repair, preparation, and painting in the interior. This is the second time we have used the company. On both occasions, we had evident water damage on the exterior of the house, but the cause and severity of the damage could not be determined until siding and other structures were removed. We really appreciated how Brian would keep us informed throughout the investigation into the problem and in determining the best course of action for the repairs. We were very happy with the outcome in both instances. On the interior, we had several rooms that had been neglected for about 20 years and were in serious need of repair and painting. Problems included cracked seams, loose joint tape, popped screws, water damage. In our experience, most painters hate doing prep work. Brian's crew seems to be the exact opposite. They were extremely thorough and worked equally proficiently on drywall (in an addition) and plaster (in the older part of the house). The results were beautiful. Beyond, the above, when unexpected issues arise --- for example, discovery in this project that the duct on a bathroom fan was not attached to the exterior vent --- Brian is great in working out solutions. We haven't run into anything (so far) they have not been able to handle. Finally, they are great guys and fun to work with.

The work came in both under budget, and was completed in a much shorter time period than expected. Brian was excellent at answering all of our questions, and explaining the process of what was being done and why it was needed. He was very willing to take a look at other areas of the house, discuss the importance of prioritizing certain tasks, was extremely responsive to communications, and was speedy at giving us quotes on different projects we talked about. He was very flexible about how we wanted to arrange the work. We were impressed with his organization and communication. Highly recommend using Brian for your next house project!
Description of Work: Brian has worked on our house for a number of years, and has helped work with us on prioritizing house projects in accordance to our budget. Most recently, he re-did the soffets and facia on our beast of a house.
We would highly recommend Dinse Contracting based on our experience, and we will almost undoubtedly work with Brian again: COMMITTED AND RESPONSIVE: Either Brian and/or someone from his direct crew was on site every day during the remodeling period. Brian was always available via email/phone/text, and if not at the time of call, he was quick to return messages. Having the contracting lead available and responsive is very valuable to us as clients. DESIGN CONSULTATION: Brian was also very helpful in many aspects of the final design for the bathroom; while we worked on the initial contract with an interior designer, Brian was the key person to get the final construction details and project to the point of installation. For example, he helped us finalize how the Euro-shower would be handled in terms of the glass; he also helped us determine the best approach for the new vanity and double sink, balancing design with cost to get us the most value for our investment. PREP AND WORKSITE MANAGEMENT: We truly appreciated the extra time Brian and his crew took to prep the work space, especially as access to the master bath necessitated walking through the master bedroom. The work happened with minimal to no impact/damage to the master bedroom. QUALITY: Brian is meticulous in his work and demands the same high level of quality from his crew. He uses minimal sub-contractors which makes a difference in the quality and consistency of the team's work output. The glass tiling in the shower surround, for example, was measured to ensure accuracy and symmetry with a beautiful resulting effect. Clients should be aware that this does result in some potentially longer timeframes for the overall project, but if timing is not a huge issue, the quality of the work is very high and we are very satisfied with the results. VALUE: Overall Brian Dinse is easy to work with, capable, responsible and fair. We felt that we received high value for our investment and in the process have found a great remodeling partner for future projects.
Description of Work: We worked with Dinse Contracting's owner, Brian Dinse, on a master bathroom complete gut-remodel. While it is not a large bathroom, it was an extensive project taking the entire room down to the studs and building it back up to update with double sink/vanity (previously single), all new tile, lighting, mirrors, and a new glass tile Euro-shower. Brian and his crew also handled all the plumbing, new air ducts/exhaust fan, and ceiling/wall insulation to ensure our bathroom was perfect.

Outstanding results...very high quality work, tremendous attention to detail, the care and effort made to fix any defects was beyond anything that I had seen before. The overall outcome is that we are extremely satisfied with the completed job. This is not the first time that we have used Dinse Contracting but this was a big job and we were changing from stain with cedar siding to paint as recommended by Brian. We understood that this would entail some extra cost as the preparation work was substantial and not everything could be done using a paint spray i.e. a lot of the painting would have to be done by hand! Regardless, the professionalism displayed by Brian's team and the quality of the end product was truly outstanding. We have received many many compliments from our neighbors. I would strongly recommend Dinse Contracting to anyone who absolutely insists on a high quality job at a reasonable price. These guys are really fantastic to work with....you will be happy with their work!

We have repeatedly been satisfied with the work done by Dinse Contracting. Brian is punctual and checks in with the homeowners as the work is being completed to their liking on days when he does not personally stop by. He was also very easy to work with for scheduling. He makes it a priority to update potential clients with dates that he will be able to complete the desired work, and if the dates need to be altered, he is prompt to let you know when and why.
Description of Work: Dinse Contracting remodeled 2 rooms on the interior of our home and painted the exterior. The first interior makeover was converting a space that the previous owners of our home had used as a library into a playroom for our young children. This work involved removing fixed shelving, smoothing the walls, re-routing duct work, and painting. The workers did a fantastic job, which is why we chose to hire them again for our following projects! The second project for which we hired Dinse Contracting was renovating our living space. The room had damaged walls, excessive shelving, and dull paint. The team again came in and made our space beautiful. We particularly appreciated Brian Dinse's care for overseeing the most intricate labor portions himself to ensure they were completed impeccably. The guys were able to immediately follow the interior renovation with an exterior paint job. We thought they did excellent work. They offered to paint large swatches on the exterior brick (that was to be completely covered) in order to help us select the shade that would best suit our home.

My journey with Dinse Contracting, LLC over the last several months Bega with Angie’s List. In 2016, I purchased an 1800 square foot, 1977 frame ranch-style house which I wanted to remodel. To find a contractor, I went to Angie’s List, and after reading 50+ positive reviews of his company, I decided to contact Brian, and so it began. As the owner of his company, Brian sets a tone of high expectations and teamwork among his crew members. All of them take a great deal of pride io their work. They help each other and step I whenever something needs to be done. Each one ( Seth 1, Zack, Mark, Josh, David and sometimes Robert, Todd ad Seth 2) is professional, punctual, polite, willing to answer questions and explain his work. Brian has several positive qualities of leadership. One is his awareness of the negative reputation that many people in the building trades have concerning communication with their clients. He fights that stereotype by being excellent at asking questions, keeping me informed about options and offering his opinions, both pro and con. A second is his protectiveness of his clients. Mediocre work or shoddy products are unacceptable to him. He makes it right if that is within his power. A third quality is creativity. Using bullnose tile to surround a bathroom window, making difficult chamfer (sp?) cuts in marble to add safety and visual interest, and designing a subtle and elegant pattern on the hearth using the sunroom tile are a few examples of creative thinking. The master bath is a fairly small and unusually-shaped space which Brian agonized over, working to find an aesthetically pleasing and functional design. These among other qualities show that Brian takes his work very seriously. Essentially, Dinse Contracting, LLC rebuilt almost the entire interior of my house. To do that, they employed all of the categories of work listed below. 1. Mark, Josh and sometimes Todd painted the entire interior plus exterior doors and the exterior of the bathroom window. Their work was flawless. 2. Brian and Seth 1 installed Windsor One baseboard throughout the house, ad Seth 1 created a lovely arrangement of shelves in an open space above a stairwell. 3. They added 1/4” drywall over dated paneling in a large portion of the house, and 1/4” drywall on ceilings throughout the house (goodbye, “popcorn” ceilings.) 4. Exterior painting already mentioned. 5. All of the items on this list are part of the remodeling. 6. Framing was a significant part of the work in both bathrooms, making them more modern and more efficient, installing a tub, toilets, plumbing fixtures. 7. The improved the electrical service, including several GFIs, bringing it up to code, and installing high tech, energy-saving switches for lights and fans. 8. These handymen helped out, whether finding the right hardwood floor clear or moving heavy items or fixing my broken tail light. 9. After I chose the lighting fixtures, Brian, David and Zack installed them all. A dining room chandelier was problematic because it needed “above the ceiling” support in a difficult place. They solved the problem. 10. Mentioned already. 11. Measuring for and installing vanities, mirrors, sconces, cabinets, indirect lighting. 12. Mentioned already. 13. After first installing a subfloor, Zack ad Brian began installing the first batch of oak flooring that I bought. They were alarmed at the poor quality of the product. They showed me, explained the problems it posed, I asked questions, and, in the end, they boxed it up and returned it to the store. Brian immediately investigated flooring stores and knowledgeable friends, and found an excellent flooring source. 14. Yes, they removed wallpaper from some high walls. 15. They installed closet doors, room doors, and exterior doors. All fit well. 16. A large sunroom and two bathrooms have tile floors—porcelain, ceramic and marble, respectively. To accommodate so much tile cutting, Seth 12 built a “room within a room” of plastic sheeting and 2x4s to house the tile saw, saving both time and money. He precisely cut, placed and grouted the tile. I believe that this is very difficult work which he did admirably. (The master bath came to be known at the “Taj Mahal.”) 17. They got rid of some nasty insulation above the bathrooms. 18. They installed all new plumbing fixtures in the baths and kitchen. 19. A subcontractor of Brian’s added duct work—one cold air and one heat register. 20. Mentioned already. 21. Included in #11. Also, Brian changed the glass in the bathroom window from clear to obscure. 22. Air duct cleaning was done early in the process and at the end of the process. (Brian hates dust!) 23. The last major project in this house was the built-i cabinets on one large wall of a large room. It is custom finish cabinetry at its finest. I was looking forward to nice book shelves; these cabinets are works of art thanks to Zack and Brian, with Mark, Josh and Todd painting. Two smaller bits of beautiful finish cabinet work are a custom oak handrail with a sweep, and a custom oak library ladder.
Description of Work: Several months ago, I purchased an 1800 square foot, 1977 frame ranch-style house which I wanted to remodel. To find a contractor, I went to Angie's List, and after reading 50+ positive reviews of his company, I decided to contact Brian.
From day one, Brian had a quality of service and customer satisfaction mindset. Even a few times when things didn’t go as planned, as always happens with big projects, Brian stepped up to resolve issues quickly regardless of fault. Brian oversaw all the contractors we brought in, making sure work was completed as expected. I trusted Brian with the keys to my house and he let workers in and out, making sure my belongings were safe and that the place was always as clean as possible when the work was done and I came home at the end of the day. I couldn’t have achieved the results we did without Dinse Contracting, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to renovate their home.
Description of Work: Brian [Dinse Contracting] was my general contractor overseeing a $75,000 home renovation project for me over a 9 month period, preparing the property for sale. When we bought the house in 2000, it was already beginning to show signs of wear as it was 20 years old. After raising a family in it for an additional 12 years without much investment the house was over 30 years old, very tired and needed much work before we would be able to sell it. Had we not invested in renovation, the real estate agent indicated we would be lucky to sell at a loss for $300,000. After the $75,000 investment, we were able to sell the house for a profit at $439,000. Brian had the contacts to bring in different skill sets for the multiple types of jobs needing to be done. The types of work included, but were not limited to, wallpaper removal, popcorn ceiling cover up, drywall installation and repair, interior painting [of ceilings, walls, and doors], wood trim installation, interior wood staining, plumbing repair, wall plate / foundation repair, exterior door removal, exterior door installation, exterior wood fascia repair, wooden deck demolition and removal, new wood deck staining, exterior window shutters installation, shed building, exterior painting, and waste removal.
The entire experience was wonderful for us. Brian and his team were professional, prompt, clean, and courteous. Our project lasted six days and consisted of sanding, repairing our drywall, taping, shellac priming, and painting two coats on our walls and ceilings. Our living room ceiling needed a LOT of work and the team did an incredible job making it look brand new. They even offered to paint our heating vents, which I never would have thought to do myself. They look fantastic now! I originally told Brian I wanted one wall color but changed my mind at the last minute. When I texted Brian at 7:30 pm, he was out buying paint supplies for us and was able to tell the paint supplier to change colors just in time. I was both surprised that he was still working in the evening and relieved that he was kind and understanding about my last-minute change. Brian was always very reachable via text or email and responded within 5 to 10 minutes for each of my questions. I was so impressed with how easy it was to communicate with him! We originally told Brian and team that we just needed our bedroom walls and ceiling painted, but I then added on our living room and hallway walls and ceiling. Brian could see how much I wanted to fix our living room ceiling but knew that our budget was tight. He was honest about how much it would cost for these additions and recommended that we both think about it before moving forward with the larger project. When I told him we wanted to move forward with it, Brian offered special financing to accommodate our tight budget. It was a kind gesture and we are very grateful. The team moved all of our furniture back right where we originally had it. (In fact, they arranged it *better* than how it was arranged originally!) We could not have asked for a better and easier experience for us. We highly recommend Dinse Contracting LLC!

Brian and his entire team are real pros. Cost and timing estimates were accurate. The real difference is that Brian cares so much about the finished product. Highly recommended.
