Brian was great. He stayed in touch so I knew what was happening and when. Brian is primarily a painter so he pulled together a team with the expertise, skills, and manpower needed for my project. Brian still worked on the garden but he also managed communication with me and coordinated the others to make sure the job got done in a timely manner. Brian was also key in the overall design of the garden. We swapped photos via email and worked together on finding a design that I loved. He was enthusiastic, diligent, a hard worker, and I can tell he takes pride in his work. I plan to hire him to paint in the future for sure.
Description of Work: Created a cedar garden fence with vegetable boxes in partnership with another contractor.

We hired Brian Dinse (Dinse Contracting) Brian came highly recommended by my friend and he lived up to all my expectations and more... I have a cove ceiling and he and his team flawlessly painted the edges - his attention to detail was the same as mine. He was always on time and his staff set their equipment up and cleaned up everything complete at the end of each painting day. Brian was very easy to get ahold of and got back to me when he said he would. He loves what he is doing and it shows. It was very important for us to feel comfortable leaving Brian and his workers alone in my home while we were at work but we found that he and his sub contractors were very trustworthy polite and respectful of us and our property. At the end of the job everything was completely cleaned up and my room put back together...electrical covers screwed back on the wall etc. As a side note- I was under the gun to get my Living Room/Hallway painted because I had 10 guests coming for dinner the next day- it all went off without a hitch.... You really do get what you pay for.
Description of Work: Professionally painted my Living Room and Hallway- not a drop of paint was spilled!

Over the past several weeks, my wife and I have had the pleasure of having the guys from Dinse Contracting in our home to do a full-scale drywall repair and paint job. To give some context: Our home was built in the 1960s and, by all appearances, the walls and ceiling had not been worked on (aside from amateur paint jobs) since the original coat of paint was put on way back when. The drywall was sagging and cracking, nails were popping and poor spackling jobs were littered throughout. From the first time we met, Brian was professional, kind, and most importantly, realistic about the scale of the job ahead. He did a full walk-through of our house and paid close attention to every area that needed to be addressed. He educated us, as new homeowners, on how he would properly repair the issues at hand. Once the project began, Brian and his drywall crew spent several days meticulously addressing the surface issues the drywall had. They were efficient and effective in mudding, taping, skim coating, screwing, and filling the drywall to bring it back to a perfect, like-new finish. We learned that much of the quality of the paint job is determined by the preparation of the walls and to that end, Brian’s work is unmatched. Brian painted our baseboard and door casings to a glossy, smooth, beautiful white. He primed our walls to knock out all of the sheen left by a previous paint job and he and his crew applied two coats of top quality paint. The cut-in lines were painted with such precision that the transitions look absolutely perfect. The walls and ceiling look flawless and new. With Brian, you are paying for a premium paint job and the product you receive is worth every penny. His attention to detail and skill are second-to-none. Equally as important, he works clean, is respectful of your home, and truly cares about both his work and his relationship with his clients. Without reservation, we would use Brian again and would encourage anyone else to do the same. Finally, a major advantage of having Brian in your home is that he can identify problems that could potentially go unnoticed. We were extremely fortunate to have him there to alert us of an issue unrelated to his work that was left by another person who had worked in our house. Going the extra mile, Brian brought out a team of specialists who we worked with to address and resolve the issue. Although we have not had the opportunity to employ many of Brian’s other services outside of drywall repair and painting (he is a full-service contractor) I am sure that, based on this experience, any work he would do in my home would be of the highest quality.
Description of Work: Full drywall repair (sanding, mudding, taping, filling, fixing nail-pops, re-screwing drywall, etc.), filled, caulked and painted baseboard, primed and painted walls and ceilings.

I found Brian Dinse through a painting special on Angie's list. In my younger days I did a great deal of interior painting so I'm pretty particular about such work. Brian and his crew were truly amazing! They spent three days at our place preparing the rooms (which included a fair amount of work such as repairing ceiling seams, patching wall imperfections, caulking window frames & floor trim) before laying on primer & paint. Their work was professional in every respect, and the actual paint job was remarkably meticulous. The guys were all great to be around -- serious about their work, friendly (especially to our pets) and always focused. They made certain that the job site was clean the entire time and especially before they left. Most importantly, I discovered that Brian does a lot more than painting. While here, we discussed several other jobs around the house that I'd like to have done (some of which I'd already had bids on), and Brian proved knowledgeable and honest with respect to what he could readily quote bids on and what he would need to do further research on. The bids he did provide were well within the range of others I've gotten. Having met Brian Dinse and seen his work, I plan to have him do more work around our place. He's a great guy with lots of skills and a habit of being honest. By the way -- the rooms he & his crew painted look GREAT!

We hired Brian Dinse (Dinse Contracting) because our neighbors (who are highly discerning perfectionists about their home) told us he did excellent work painting their Living Room. We expected great things from Brian but we were still blown away at the extremely high quality of his work, as a perfectionist his attention to every detail, his level of organization, and overall cleanliness of the project. Brian and his team have a true gift for making the finished product come to life as if it were a photo in Architectural Digest magazine. As these things go, you do get what you pay for but we believe it was definitely worth the price and plan to hire him for the rest of our home sometime soon. Also, much of the time we were not home but we felt completely comfortable with him in our home - Brian comes across as a nice, honest person with a great deal of integrity and professionalism to his work. We are delighted to have found him!

I'm the executor of my aunts estate and the home which she lived in for over 40 years needs a lot of repair work done. One of the spare rooms was really bad. We knew we wouldn't be able to sell house if this room wasn't repaired. We are on a very tight budget and Brian was wonderful. He told us what the cost would be and kept me updated on it every time I talked to him so we didn't go over budget. Brian was already working on a few other jobs when I contacted him for this job. I told him I would work around his schedule and be available whenever he could come in to do repairs, that they needed to be done asap. Brian called me an set up a time they could come in and asked if it was okay. It was the following Monday, I was elated to know he would be able to do the work that soon. Brian and his staff came in and did everything Brian said they would do: rip out old ceiling, remove old insulation, put in new insulation, and put up a whole new ceiling, mud/sanded the whole room and repainted it the colors we wanted. Then cleaned up afterwards. Each time they were in the home they cleaned up after themselves. Brian and his staff were great to be around. Brian even brought my mother a Starbucks coffee on her birthday while they were doing repairs. He won lots of brownie points with my mom that day. They kept on task and the job was finished ahead of schedule. They answered all my questions, sent me a video of repairs, and had me check the room as progress was made. I am very pleased with the job they performed and have recommended Brian and his team to my neighbors and friends already. I will be contacting him again once house is empty and we can access what other repairs are needed. It was a pleasure doing business with Brian. He is a man of his word and takes great pride in his job. A special thank you to Mark (one of Brian's staff), who is old-school and takes pride in his job too.
Description of Work: Removed old ceiling and insulation. Replaced insulation and put up new drywall on ceiling. Patched and sanded walls/ceiling then painted whole room including closet. Removed all debris and cleaned up afterwards.

I'm so pleased with the experience I had working with Dinse contracting. I'm so relieved to have proof now that it is possible to get quality work for at reasonable rates. I've had some frustrating experiences before this one. This contractor is very professional and always provides free, detailed and honest estimates, always being clear to point out the realistic challenges of a job. His team is confident and competent in their abilities, punctual and completes work on time. I needed the interior of my 1920s Craftsman painted, (1800 sq ft house on Ann Arbor's Old West Side) and that included some drywall and plaster repair; I also asked for some light electrical work done, the restoration of the home's original oak banister, as well as some retouching of some fixtures in my bathroom and back mudroom entrance. A family affiliated with the University, we often host dinner parties and have received numerous compliments on the fine work done in our traditional, formal dining room as well as the repair and repainting of the home's original fireplace mantle. One room needed very old wall-paper removed and Brian's team was willing to go at that challenge of completing the removal and repainting and very little added cost! The Dinse contracting team also prepped, repaired and painted some doors, completed some light electrical work, and REPAIRED some of the damage done by cheap craigslist painters I had hired before them by mistake. The On-site work crew and sub-contractors were courteous and respectful. We will definitely use this contractor again should we decide to do further work to our home.
"Cost plus" contracting always makes me nervous since you have to rely upon the contractor to actually work during the time for which you are being billed. On the other hand, if you have a reliable and hard working contractor, it is ideal since the project is easily adjusted and changed as things progress. Dinse Contracting and his associates fall in the latter category. Punctual! That is an understatement; even though they were commuting from 35-45 minutes away, I could do away with my alarm clock with the confidence that they would be there early if anything. The team was personable and reliable. Injected new and constructive thoughts but never interfered with my basic concepts. Work was done timely and professionally. In the end, as in any construction, one could certainly tell that major work had been done but the clean up was far better than I have ever experienced with other contractors.

It went great. Brian is a professional, friendly, perfectionist. He takes his work very seriously and won't settle for anything but perfect, even if it means he has to take extra steps that he wasn't planning on. He never tried to get more money from me. Once he set a price, he did the job, and did it well. His staff was also just as pleasant and they all worked together well. I wouldn't hesitate to have Brian back to help me with any project. He attention to detail and work ethic shows through when you see the finished product. I would highly recommend Dinse Contracting to anyone looking for professional, quality painting or any other project.
Description of Work: This provider first did work for me in October of 2012 when he and his crew painted the entire inside of my new house. I then asked him to come back and paint the finished basement. In both instances, I was on a time crunch. I needed the house painted so I could move in. I have also needed things here and there and have always called on Dinse Contracting.

Brian is very kind, prompt, trustworthy, and meticulous. All the work he performed in our home was of high quality. I found Brian to be very honest and hard working. When obtaining quotes he would give us a fare quote and then let us know where we could cut costs but also let us know how that would affect the quality. Brian is very conscientious about the quality of his work and really strives to please his customers. If we had a problem or a question Brian was immediately on it to investigate and correct any issue....no matter what time or day. I definitely will hire Dinse Contracting again for any construction or painting needs. He's become more than a contractor...we consider him our friend now, which is so very important when opening up your home to someone.
Description of Work: Repaired cracks in drywall, painted den and bedroom and stained new Anderson windows.
Brian used top quality paint and was meticulous about details. He went over the walls and ceiling with a special light to find the smallest imperfections and marked them up for repair. The final result was amazing. I have had another paint job done by a different contractor on other rooms at my house and there is such a difference in the quality- Brian's (Dinse Contracting) was noticeably better. His crew worked in my house for over 2 weeks and Brian is very hands on. If issues came up, he was very willing to work with you and he makes every effort to resolve them. I have had contractors in the past where this was not the case. Brian's team is very professional and I completely trusted them in my home.

Brian and his assistant did an exceptional job. They did all of the work in only two days and Brian informed me of all decisions and costs along the way as I was out of town. I placed complete trust in Brian and I was not disappointed. He did all tasks to my complete satisfaction, was highly detailed and clean with his work, and he even added some extra touches that I was not expecting. Brian was fair, punctual, attentive, highly skilled, and more than a pleasure to work with. If I ever need any painting again, interior or exterior, Brian will surely be my guy.

I've hired Dinse twice before over the past year, first to paint my daughter's room as a trial run, and then again to paint the baby's room, kid's bathrooms and guest suite. This time it was to paint the master bedroom, complete with tray ceiling, attached sitting room, and existing faux finish. We also asked him to paint a broad horizontal stripe across the room, which is not as easy as it sounds given the unevenness of things. Even though it was a last minute request utilizing some difficult to work with paint, DInse was able to manage it beautifully. In general, he has had to deal with faux finishes and children's murals in four of the rooms and uneven walls and ceilings elsewhere in the home. The results were amazing with the old finish imperceptible. Dinse doesn't pull any punches when it comes to work. Each time I've been impressed with the depth of his knowledge (rare among contractors), his ability to execute the project cleanly, without fuss or delay, and runs a tight ship. Dinse was also reasonably accommodating with scheduling projects around my pregnancy and moving some heavy furniture. Much like the other reviews, I could go on and on about Dinse's high quality work and professionalism. What I like the most about him is that he knows his crew personally, they are not picked up at some gas station or hardware store. The security of my family and my home is incredibly important to me. Likewise, the people walking into my home must be trustworthy and this company has certainly earned my trust.

I was very pleased with the finished job. It was professionally done. The paint color was even on all the aluminum siding; no thin spots or drips. No body color got on the trim color and vice-verse; very crisp edges. All areas were expertly masked and I didn't need to razor paint off the windows panes. Brian and his crew were easy to work with. He is an excellent project manager and pays attention to all details. He anticipates things before they happen and tends to be a perfectionist, which I appreciated. He is a good communicator, friendly, and punctual. He took the time to explain what he was going to do before he did it and why. He was very considerate; asking me if he could move something out of the way instead of just doing it. His staff worked well together and treated each other with respect. He estimated the job would take 5 days and it took 4 1/2. I highly recommend Brian and will be using him again for an interior project this winter.
Description of Work: Soaked aluminum structure with TSP, power washed, scraped & wire brushed all loose trim, buffed peeled areas on aluminum siding, primed bare metal with etching primer, primed exposed wood on trim, masked off windows, doors, porch, deck, awning etc., covered foliage, sprayed 2 coats of acrylic latex paint, painted all trim by hand, painted 2 coats on front & back doors, and did a thorough clean up. Different color used on body, trim and doors for a 1500 sq. ft. two story older home. Also painted downspouts same color as body.

Brian and his crew showed up on time and were very easy to have working in our home. They are pleasant, professional and most importantly perfectionists. We were thrilled with their work and really enjoyed the project. I plan to hire Dinse contracting for all of my home painting and remodeling needs.
Description of Work: Brian was extremely helpful in selecting paint colors, and gave me more opportunity to choose something I would be happy with long term than any other contractor I have worked with. He went out of his way to show me every possible color and then gently guided me to the one I wanted. He has a good eye for color as well, but is not pushy. He was also very patient with me as I had difficulty making up my mind.

Brian is meticulous in his work. His painting skills are phenomenal. We have rounded corners and a lot of tile work in our current house and Brian's work with these difficult areas has been perfect. He recently tore down a shoddy fence job for us and rebuilt a gorgeous red cedar fence...on a very uneven lot. Brian's prices are very reasonable. He is professional, honest, punctual, and trustworthy. Highly receommended.
Description of Work: We've used Brian and his colleagues for various project son our old house and new...interior painting, floor refinishing, and installing a cedar fence.
It went great - the house had been neglected for many years, some of the wood siding was rotting or had already fallen off. It's a very old house (1878) with considerable and unusual detail in how the siding goes together, which Brian duplicated perfectly. The work was clearly done carefully, with repairs to the underlying structure where needed as well. This is only the latest in a long string of projects that Brian has completed on this house. It was in awful shape when I got it last year, Brian has cleared out several dumpsters worth of garbage and debris, removed and replaced buckling ceilings, drywalled and painted the second floor, refinished the floors, removed wallpaper on the first floor, and even did some emergency cleanup after an early morning plumbing mishap. I'm sure I'm forgetting something - basically anything I have needed done on this house, Brian has been able to get done.
Description of Work: Wood siding repair and replacement (most recent of several projects, including drywall, floor refinishing, interior painting)
