Hank was on time, personable and professional. He clearly knew what he was doing and did not try to oversell me - I told him I wanted to update my electrical to make it safe, and the items that were already safe he let me know.

After reading the fantastic reviews here for Marsh River Electrical, I called them for an estimate for a new electrical panel in my basement, in October 2015. (as they’re ‘local’ to my area), Hank showed up to give me an estimate, but he was also working out of state at the time and could work on it after his ‘out of state’ job was done. I thought it was very kind of him to take some of his rare ‘off’ time so he could give me an estimate. I ran into other house problems before he finished his out of state work, so I couldn’t have the panel work done in November 2015. So I called him again in March 2016 and he had some time to work on the electrical panel. I felt that he was honest when he gave me the estimate..the most honest of any contractor that I had gotten an estimate from in the past. He and Ray (his assistant), showed up and started on the panel on March 8th. The old panel and all the old wires were just a terrible mess! But they sure knew what they were doing! I had also asked Hank if I could move my clothes drier into another room and would he set up a new electrical wire for that. And I had a couple of wall switches that probably needed attention. He agreed to check all those issues, and he worked on those items the next day (March 9th). Wow, it’s so nice to be able to turn on the living room ceiling fan/light again now! It was always burning out light bulbs. And he fixed the outside light on the same switch at the same time, as he noticed that it needed to be fixed too. I wouldn’t have noticed it, so now I feel much better that it was fixed. The panel that they installed was at least twice the size of my old panel, so things would be better, with space for future wires. CMP and the local codes officer showed up later in the day to see how they were doing. The codes officer requested that another ground wire be set up, as the codes had changed to two ground wires instead of just the one that I had. Hank agreed to do that immediately and he did.. They worked all day, and I think that they worked a little 'over-time' getting the new wires hooked up so I’d have electricity again before they left. Finally, the panel had been turned on! Most everything worked immediately, but the old wires sure had been a terribly mess! The new wires were perfect and the panel was amazing after all the work they did. Those few items which got a second look got fixed immediately. It was amazing that they could fix them so quickly. And without any anger or cussing from anyone. I appreciated that no one lost their cool, even when I asked stupid questions! After the wire for the clothes drier had been put in the second day, Hank asked me if I’d like him to set it all up. I was amazed that he’d ask me if I’d like him to do that. It consisted of making an open circle through the outside wall and installing a metal vent onto the drier, instead of using the old bending type of vent that was hard to clean out. I agreed immediately! Hank even went to the hardware store for the metal vent and gave me the receipt when he got back. Another show of honesty on his part. (If I had gone to the hardware store, I would have bought the wrong vent! So Hank had offered to get the vent for the drier and I'd add it to the bill.) Hank and Ray both worked on it, till it was all set to test the drier. Success, the drier works better! And I have more space now near the washing machine. Hank was able to do more than I expected in a day and a half. They both did it very well. I’m very pleased with what they did and will call him any time that I have another electrical problem. Marsh River is on the top on my list. I had researched his name in the computer before I had called him and I had read several reports of his past work. Very experienced and knowledgeable and more helpful, calm and professional than some other contractors . I would recommend that anyone check the background of a contractor before you sign the contract. Especially for people who are looking for honest contractors, good fair estimates, along with great work. I was (and still am now) very happy with the work done, the cost and the honesty.

He was very professional and was very prompt in responding to my calls. The job required more work than he anticipated and he worked diligently to get it done.

Service call went very smoothly...on time, professional and courteous. Knowledgeable and thorough is discrepancy assessment and corrective actions. Will definitely use for all future electrical needs at our home.

Although one day isn't enough for an 80-year-old house, it made a significant dent in the scale of the project. Various previous owners' having made all manner of connections (of varying degrees of competency) meant that the house needed some help. In a day they managed to 1. clean up and re-run wiring in about 1/2 of the basement (which feeds the rest) 2. add two new circuits for the basement + switches for lights 3. install whole-house surge suppressor + 2 space-saver breakers 4. clean-up and re-wire breaker box. ` We provided the hardware, they provided the labor.

went great. My panel was popping and crackling. I looked on Angies list and read reviews. His was one of the best. I called three people including Hank, figuring "1st come 1st serve" as far as who gets the job. Hank called the very next morning. He came right out, looked it all over, quoted me a price. He showed up the next day 1st thing, and did the work and was done by 4:30. Excellent all the way around.

A+ job. The electricians came out the same day that I called and they did excellent work. They were very responsive and very professional, working quickly to correct the problem and to address all of my electrical concerns. I plan to use them again in the future with a planned larger job and would definitely refer them to others.

There was an initial mix-up about scheduling, but Nick was prompt at returning my call to straighten out the issue. He came within a couple of hours of our conversation. Both he and his assistant were courteous, friendly and very professional. The light was fixed, and because of the mix-up, he waived any charges for the service. I would most certainly hire him again if I needed electrical work done.

I had a Big Deal. It was ok. It was a little unpredictable. He said he'd be here at a particular time, but would show up an hour and half to two hours late. He was very accommodating when he was there. I had him do a couple of things. I paid additional to have the outlet put in the garage because it was past the time frame we'd already paid for. It was about $30 for that. I think that included labor and parts. I've had no problems except that the dimmer switch in the kitchen is still having issues. He did try to fix it and it seemed like it was fixed while he was here. I'm not interested in calling him to come back. The lights are flickering. It is annoying. You either have to turn it totally on or off. Everything else he did was fine. He left some trash around, but that's kind of common with these folks. It's not unusual for them to do that. Out in the garage he left the coating he stripped from the wire. Someone who was really particular with the details wouldn't do that. It took a long time for him to get back to me and actually do the work. There was some sort of miss communication there. I don't know exactly why that was. I never figured it out. But once I actually persuade him and got him the schedule the appointment it went pretty quickly. It wasn't an emergency. The only thing that was the issue with the closet was the light in the closet is a fluorescent light and the starter unit wasn't working consistently anymore. Sometimes the light would come on, sometimes it would flicker on and off. We replaced it with a more, energy efficient fixture. I wasn't impressed with his quickness to respond. Everything else was ok when he was there, except for the trash.

Hank was great in getting all three jobs completed within a two hour window. He was able to give me some advice about future projects as well. I would not hesitate to call him again!

He might have done it, but we both agreed amicably that it didn’t make much sense for him to travel this far.

I called Marsh River Electrical for an estimate to put a 30 amp panel and a couple of outlets. Hank was able to do the work the same day. He did an excellent job!

They did a very good job and they were excellent. I would definitely recommend them. They are completely reasonable in price.

Hank is very affable and we hit it off right away...I could tell from the get-go that he was very honest and reasonable. He came when he said he would come and scheduled a service disconnect with the power company without issues. He was here for at least 3 full days doing the work and he was willing to work with the panel I bought off of Amazon.com, saving some money. His wiring prowess is quite good and he knows his stuff. Best of all, he's willing to work with you to do stuff, even if your plans change and the work needs to be adjusted for certain constraints. He gave me a quote for $2,000 dollars and that was the total price at the end. He even allowed my (very mechanically proficient) 10yr old son tag along and educate him along the way! He worked by himself. I wouldn't hesitate to call Hank again, and I will definitely have him back to finish up the compressor wiring and the generator I will purchase. He's a great guy, honest, and a hard worker all rolled up into one!

Hank came in person to evaluate and quote the job. On the appointed day he arrived with all the needed materials in his truck including timber framing for a base and gravel to fill it. He worked stadily and methodically over 2 days. To install the disconnect he needed to have the power company cut the service which he scheduled with them seamlessly. When done he cleaned up completely. There was no call back..........The generator has performed flawlessly..............I am an engineer and recognize good work. Hank worked for years in a nuclear power plant. As you would expect, his skills and work standards are first rate. As a plus for me, he graciously accepted having me look over his shoulder the whole time. I learned a lot.

Hank showed up on time, spoke with us, did the work, spoke with us again and left. Excellent work completed in time frame expected. Electrical service placed in logical location, following lines of architecture to blend nicely with body of house. Trace amount of debris left behind, but not enough to even bother us.
