MAINE CHIMNEY SWEEP SERVICES

Cleaning went without a hitch. He took pictures of the areas requiring attention so he could show me the deterioration that required attention. He recommended waiting until spring to do those repairs due to weather issues. I just spoke to him this week to schedule those repairs (estimate $850) and he will be here in 3 weeks. So...he's very knowledgeable and willing to wait for appropriate time to maximize results. He was responsive, and is in demand. My impression is that the results will be worth the wait.

They were good, he came out when he was supposed to, and did a thorough job for a very reasonable price. He sent me pictures, and he brushed down both pictures. I found him off of Angie's List. He did not do any follow up, he just kind of lost contact with us.

They came in very fast and gave me good information. The pointed out some work and made some recommendations. They were honest, upfront and very fast.

He inspected my chimney that was attached to a pellet stove (the stove was not running, it was suggested to me it was a chimney issue). He provided lots of photos and explained that my chimney liner was incomplete and cracked, suggested that I reline it with a stainless steel liner. He then came back and relined the chimney. He was exactly on cost, easy to schedule with via email, and communicative. He managed to do it pretty quickly despite it being a busy season and just around the holidays. I really appreciated that since this stove is our primary heat source and wasn't working until the job was done.

Simon did not try to sell me new services that I may not have needed. He was friendly, neat and paid attention to details. He told me that my woodstove flue was glazed with Cresote and that the chimney ws in good physical shape.

Corrected issue that no other sweeps had ever mentioned (but very obvious). Quick to schedule during peak season. Great quy, great service!!

While here, Simon took a thorough look at the whole heating apparatus and made recommendations about what he felt was needed to be attended to. He seems completely honest, i.e. he's not looking for more ways to make money. He also seems to know what he's talking about. He took a picture of the top of our chimney from the roof. This picture showed us that there was some work needed ---which won't cost much---but would prevent more problems down the line. I highly recommend this company

Simon was very nice to work with today and his prices are very reasonable. He took the time to remove our front blower (attached to our Lopi insert) and cleaned that out, on top of the chimney sweeping. We will definitely use him again in the future.

Simon is GREAT. He is very personable and got the job done sooner than I expected. He helped identify the problem and was extremely professional. He spent a lot of time and was not in a rush. If I ever need him again he is just a call away. Great work Simon!!

It went well. When I asked about a new noise after the cleaning, he came back and diagnosed it for free. -

As part of the inspection prior to the purchase of our new house, we identified multiple sources of water intrusion into the basement, one of which was via an uncapped chimney. A second uncapped chimney was also a potential problem, although the chimneys themselves were in reasonable shape internally. After soliciting several bids via Angie's List, we selected Simon based on the quality and modest nature of his bid. He didn't recommend services we knew we didn't need (i.e. cleanings), but did point out issues such as waterproofing (our brick is very porous) that could become problems down the line. Although Simon did apologize to us for being delayed in completing the work, the fact was that we had two solid weeks of rain which was no one's fault. Once the weather cleared up, Simon was there and completed in the time promised, and we didn't even need to be present. The work was also completed for the agreed upon budget. The very next rainstorm we had I checked the basement for leaks, and for the first time since we'd purchased the home there was zero water entering the basement from our chimney. Simon quite obviously knows his trade, and delivered professional work for us as quickly as the weather would allow for a more than reasonable price. I would recommend him without hesitation.

I called Simon on Dec 23, 2012 when we were experiencing water coming into our basement through the furnace flue clean-out and from under the floor. He came to our house the next day and scoped out possible problems and solutions. He suggested someone to take care of the water coming up into the basement and thought that might be the biggest issue. However he said that there were also significant problems around the base of the chimney (allowing the water to get into the basement) and possibly in the flue itself. He provided an estimate for the work he would do in December along with photos of the inside and outside problems. He later provided a more detail estimate and the final bill was right on the estimate. He provided clean drop cloths to avoid tracking dirt though the house and curtained off the are in the basement when doing his work in the furnace area to prevent dust from his work spreading throughout the basement. He was helpful in moving furniture as well. He did everything he said he would do and a few extras at no additional charge. Simon was careful in his assessment of the problems and carefully matched appropriate solutions for each problem. Simon is easy to talk to and provides options as well as suggestions. I would have no problem recommending him to others.

I don't have any complaints about their service.

They're great guys. These guys were really very competent. They were very clean. Always on time. A few years ago they helped me out with a wood burning stove bought from a neighbor. Maine Chimney Sweep was coming to do my chimney cleaning anyway, so I asked if they could help me get it home. They did and also set it up and cleaned it. They couldn't put it into their truck because it was so big so they actually put it on a dolly, walked it down the street and muscled it into place. Then they went and bought all the stuff to connect it. All for $150. I would use them again and recommend them, too.

Mr. Sandstrom answered all of my questions and the next day he emailed me pictures of what will need to be done in the spring to keep the chimneys maintained. I was completely pleased with this company and I would highly recommend them. I'm also pleased to have had such a successful start using Angie's List.

The cleaning and inspection went well. Simon did a thorough job and gave a complete report, including pictures when finished. Unfortunately, there was work which needed to be done and when I asked for a quote from Simon for the work, he never responded. We ended up going with another company for the actual work, so I don't know how well Simon would have been in that respect.

Just purchased the house and Simon's service was great. Simon performed the tasks quickly and cleanly and didn't try to upsell unnecessary work. He took the time to explain the basic components and setup of the system and to make recommendations for general cleaning and maintenance schedules. I would definitely hire him again.

Went very well overall. Have used Simon before and will continue to use in future. Work is professional and reasonably priced.
