The work was first class, well thought out and well executed. The use of somewhat exotic material for the deck surface was not a problem at all. Very cooperative and entertaining bunch to work with. They managed all the 'surprises' very well. If and when we extend the deck, they will get the call.
Description of Work: Mr. Denton and crew replaced an aging deck and did some structural repairs under a bay window.

Started well had a few bumps along the way with rotten floor studs which had to be replaced and new plywood or subfloor. Bathroom came right along . Contractor said it would be 7 working days turned into 9 1/2 working days. His men where very professional tried real hard to keep things clean and laid down dust runners on the floor and carpet to keep from tracking dirt. Looks great Bathroom is very pretty my wife says. I am happy.

Stairs were done to satisfaction. When we wanted additional work done, they were very slow to respond and never followed through on coming out to actually do the work. We wanted to use them again for the additional work, but they don't seem to need the business.
Description of Work: Added stairs off of our deck and did a pretty good job and took the time to give us estimates for work we may consider in the future.

I am so sorry that we disappointed you. I must say I was so shocked to read this today after you gave a "A" review on your staircase and then you changed it to this. If I may explain, when you called me to ask if we could do some electrical work for you, I do remember explaining that we were booked up into Christmas time and if we could slide you in I would. However we have not had a break and have actually run days behind on the last 3 jobs and I couldn't put off a already scheduled customer that had been waiting on us for months. I did send a text message explaining this same thing and made a phone call to the same number, but never reached anyone or heard back from you. I do try to help everyone but being a three man crew and scheduling jobs months in advance then try to slide someone in is hard to get to everyone quickly without schedule. Please understand we want to service your needs and would ask you to give us another shot and allow me to place you on our schedule which is beyond February as of today. Thank you and sorry again.

Our bathroom was a disaster. Poor construction and cheap materials had left us with a rotten floor, inadequate insulation, flaking sheetrock, and a broken exhaust fan. Erik gave a very reasonable estimate to take out & replace everything, we felt very comfortable with him (especially after reading his reviews), and we were able to book him for a month later to complete the job. From the moment his team arrived until they finished a week later, Erik and his team did an excellent job. They had everything gutted on day 1, and everything was finished within a week. He took the time to walk us through every step of the project, explaining what they were doing and why. The bathroom has been completely transformed and is now a showcase room in our house instead of an embarrassment. Erik and his team were extremely professional, helpful, and thorough. We will definitely call Erik again!
Description of Work: We had our master bathroom completely gutted to the studs, removing the vanity, drywall, tub, toilet, and a portion of the floor that was rotten. We purchased most of the fixtures & tile with the delusion of doing the work ourselves, but we quickly realized that the project was far beyond our capabilities. Erik and his team did the demo, installed all of the new sheetrock/concrete board, installed all of the new fixtures, installed the tile, painted, and completed all of the extras of a remodel. They did a FANTASTIC job on our bathroom. I could not be more pleased, and I will definitely call Erik when it is time for our next project.

We bought the home 17 years ago and shortly after hired a local carpet and tile store to remove laminate flooring in our Kitchen, Laundry room foyer and Dining Nook area and replace with a 18X18 inch tile. The job was done and was horrible, we complained and nothing was ever fixed the local tile store didn't take responsibility neither would the installer who installed the tile. So we have lived with it for 17 years. Our friends have made comments and so has our family. After my 80 year old wife tripped over one of the improperly installed tile last month I decided to hire someone to complete remove every thing and start over. I was referred by a worker at Lowes to Mr. Denton and his fine company. He came to my home on May 28th gave us a bid and I excepted his bid and gave him the job. He scheduled us for June 24th and arrived on time at 730 am to start to work. His worker and him started and the work was complete in 7 working days. They warned us removing the old tile and grinded our concrete floors would be a huge dusty mess. Boy was he right. He hung plastic around the work area, had fans to help suck the dust outside, but dust still got into the rest of the house. It just couldn't be helped. He brought over a cleaning lady after they were done to wipe down the entire house, she worked all day long. This was not on the contract and I didn't have to pay for her to clean, he paid her out of his own pocket. Which totally impressed me. All the tile was laid in out kitchen, laundry room, foyer and dining nook in one day and grouted the next. The porch was done on another day cleaning all the tile was on the last day while his worker fixed our header on our porch and rewrapped it with that metal vinyl stuff. He and his crew are wonderful and very knowledgeable. Each tile was laid with no trips and high edges and with no hallow spots when you walk on it. They retacked down all out quarter round and caulked it in the whole job looks wonderful..
Description of Work: Removed old Ceramic tile in Kitchen, Laundry room and Dining room/Nook. Laid new tile outside on front porch and repaired support header on porch then rewrapped with new vinyl and metal.

I had called to get a rough estimate for a kitchen/dining room remodel and the possibility of adding on in the back. I left a message requesting a call back, which was returned promptly. The questions asked helped me realize there was quite a bit I still needed to do and decide prior to getting an actual estimate. No services rendered at this time, but I will be calling them back once I am ready.

I cannot say enough good things about Erik and his team. They always show up on time and do a GREAT job. He has a calendar on his phone and he doesn't double-book, so when he tells you he'll be there Wednesday morning at 8, he's there. Another thing I truly appreciated was that Erik takes the time to explain everything that needs to be done and how his team plans to accomplish their goals. He also gives you a realistic estimate of the time it will take to do the work. If Erik weren't a phenomenal contractor, he would have made an excellent teacher because he makes sure you understand what his team is doing and why. He and his guys are personable and professional and always left the house as clean as they found it, which is especially impressive given the fact that two of the days they were working it was pouring rain. I would heartily recommend Sweet Home Repairs to anyone. They are honest men and true home experts who make sure that things get done right the first time.
Description of Work: Eric and his team measured, cut and hung doors for the laundry room, two bathrooms and guest bedroom closet. They also installed vintage locks and doorknobs on these doors, so that they now all work properly. They installed both of my bathroom sinks and moved the light fixture over in the guest bath so that it was centered over the sink. They also installed new bathroom fans/light fixtures. The old switch to turn on the light was behind the bathroom door (it's an old house) and they moved it to the logical spot of on the wall when you enter the bathroom. They also installed a smooth dryer duct for my laundry room since the old coiled one had not been replaced like it was supposed to have been at closing. They installed my kitchen garbage disposal and the switch to make it work. And finally they hung both of my chandeliers - one of which was pretty complicated.

We found these guys on Angie's List, and their reviews and displayed work looked like what we wanted. Erik scheduled a visit to collect information from which to render an estimate. Both he and Danny asked all the right questions, and more importantly, listened to all the answers. The construction options offered were great. Erik submitted an estimate to us which we reviewed, but ultimately decided to perform the work at an agreed to hourly rate. This worked out much better for both them and us. The crew showed up when they said they would, even though the weather gave them fits. Mental note: January and February is not the ideal time to rebuild a deck. They had the old deck down and in the construction dumpster in less than 2 hours. The repairs to the bay window support structure commenced the next day. That turned into about 4 times as much work as anticipated. The original construction of the bay window support structure was much worse than we expected. Erik and crew resolved those issues completely. The ceiling drywall in a downstairs bedroom was removed to gain access to the structure which also revealed some electrical issues which they fixed also. The deck support structure went up as described / as planned. Most all material came from Lowe's, where Erik and Danny hand picked the material. We were unable to locate a reasonable source of supply for redwood decking locally, but we did find a source for Brazilian Redwood in Atlanta. Our trip to Atlanta to pick up the material was the stuff of legend.... Erik and crew had a couple of short term jobs they accomplished while we got the decking material rounded up. The attention to detail was very good, and the step by step planning made the job unfold very well with little lost motion. The exotic material for the decking required a somewhat different application technique which the crew picked up really quickly. Over all, the work looks great, and as soon as the budget comes out of intensive care, we're gonna invite these guys back for some other projects.
Description of Work: Replacement of an existing deck with a larger deck, adding stairs, a landing, a concrete pad, and extensive repairs to the support structure beneath a bay window that joins the deck. Replacement of vinyl siding and insulation associated with the bay window.

Our Bathroom was a disaster; I tried my hand at fixing the leaky shower several times. After a shower was taken in it the floor had collapsed. The metal pan installed in 1960s had disintegrated to rust . I knew we needed a remodel. I am a procrastinator when it comes to stuff like this, and I was just dreading this whole remodel and dealing with some injudicious contractor that would take forever and then over charge us. This bathroom had not been used in over a year after the floor fell through. I interviewed several contractors to do this job and took bids since January 2012. I had bids from $5000 to over $25000, but each contractor would say that is just an estimate and as they tore it apart they MIGHT find more. I was worried to how much without a firm bid could I spend thousands more then the bid? One of our best friends had used Sweet Home Repairs for a bathroom remodel and insisted we give him a chance. Since I did like their bathroom and thought the worked looked great I thought I would give him a chance. Right from the start I was impressed with Mr. Denton, unlike five other contractors Mr. Denton was on time. He came in listen to my wife and I and what we were interested in doing. He crawled under our home and had his look around before giving us a estimate of what it would cost. He told us he would be back with us with a firm bid in a day of two. He called me 2 days later and gave be a bid for $18,000 dollars. We decided we would use Sweet Home Repairs, and a date was scheduled. Mr. Denton and his 3 man crew arrived and demolished the bathroom and utility closet in one day. They did the plumbing and had a licensed electrician out to move our meter and breaker panel. Once done they started framing the new walls and insulating they dry walled and started the new shower using a Schluter shower kit followed with Schluter Ditra for the floors. Once done painting the laid the tile on the floors and shower. They built our new pantry and cabinets above our washer and dryer including the Vanity cabinets on either side of the shower. The whole job took three weeks but we hardly knew they were here, each night when we came home from work the work place was clean and everything was put away. Mr. Denton followed our written contract to a ?T? and never asked us for any extra in fact he lowered his bid by $131.00 because he saved us money on parts bought at Lowes. This is a professional Contractor and his men are professionals as well.
Description of Work: Turned old tiny bathroom inside house and utility room next to bathroom on the outside of the house into a inside laundry room and bathroom.

As Normal Mr. Denton came to look at my Job and gave me a good bid. I had to get on Mr. Denton's waiting list, which I am an impatient person I want something I want it yesterday. However He was here the day he said he would be, with his crew in tow they immediately went to work and had everything tore out the first day. They then put everything back together over the next 5 and on the following Monday they were cleaning up and getting out of here. My wife and I have owned 5 homes in our lives we have dealt with over 30 contractors from roofing, remodeling, fencing, concrete, decks, bathrooms and kitchens even foundation. Out of 48 years of marriage and 5 homes I have never had such a good contractor as Erik Denton and his crew. They are professional, clean, and eager to do whatever they can. Rest assured they will do you a good job. This is the 7th time they have worked for me on one of my two houses here in Florence Alabama.

If there were 6 stars I would give them all six. This is a fine company and the are reasonable, work well and quickly. They never left the job to work somewhere else until they were done with the job at my house. First we had them replace all 22 windows in our home . Then we had them remodel a bathroom and lay the same tile in our kitchen and finally new exterior doors and 7 interior doors. My wife has said her home now reminds her of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I was very please with all aspects of there work. The only complain was I wanted them to stay and forget their other customers until all my work was done. However I needed to save the money for the next project. But they were good and always returned when they said they would. They were a little higher then others and lower then some but worth every penny. With these guys you dont have to worry about hiring someone who will rip you off and do shady work.
Description of Work: Replaced windows in our Home in June 2011 and we rehired the company again in Jan. 2012 to remodel our bathroom and finally October 2012 we had them put all new exterior and stained interior doors in our home.

This work was done at my Dad's house in North Florence. He's 92, lives alone, and he was concerned about finding a contractor who would really follow through and do good work in a reliable way. Erik and his crew really did. I live a long distance away, so I was present when Erik came to look at the work and give an estimate, but I was not there when they did the work over two and a half days the following week. Erik and Todd (who specializes in siding) were very patient and professional in explaining exactly what they would do, how, and when. They followed through exactly as they said, and my Dad is very pleased with the outcome. Erik even had a member of his crew rake leaves in my Dad's yard just because he reallized it would be difficult for Dad to manage. Erik also went out of his way to keep me informed while the work was being done. He sent several text messages and pictures from his phone. I'm sure my Dad will have them do more work in the future. I highly recommend Sweet Home Repairs.

My Bathroom was a Pepto Bismal Pink, it was God Awful! I could not keep the mold from growing in the tub and shower wall. The bathroom stunk like wet dog. I knew it was time to remodel. I contacted several local contractors and each one seemed to be a idiot or gave me the though of a used car salesman. I finally got a hold of Mr. Denton and Sweet Home Repairs and Remodeling through a friend who found him on Angieslist. I called him set an appointment and finally a contracted to do the work. Mr. Denton and his two men got my bathroom done in 2 weeks. It was a ton of work but now I am so pleased. The entire company was so professional and very clean in how they took care of my house while they tore out the bathroom.

Affordable Windows were called to use a TVA program to replace our old windows with new vinyl ones. After he was out we decided to replace the exterior doors as well. It took longer then I expected to get the stuff in (8 working days) but in 3 working days they were all done installing and wrapping the windows and doors. Before he could pack up in conversation I told him we were interested in remodeling our bathroom. As well as he did on the windows and doors I thought I would call a few of his references and find out if he could do a bathroom. Each person I spoke with said volumes of good things about his bathroom remodels. Including on very prominent real estate agent in this area. We worked out the details and with in 10 working days our bathroom looked wonderful. There were no surprises or additional cost and everything was exactly as my wife wished it to be. Next came our kitchen and since he did that well with the bathroom how hard could a kitchen be. It took him 3 weeks to get back to us but he claimed he was busy with other clients and once they were done he would be back. On the day he said he and his man returned and started on our kitchen 4 days later we were done and now our home looks new.We have dealt with other company's over the years but this guy is far better and has the skills to do what he says. If I have anything again I will call him.The only thing I did not like was his responsiveness, I would rather we just went from one job to the next but he had other customers in line and I had to wait my turn again. Other then that Great guy, honest, polite.

It was tough to get it all done. He said it would be done in one day and he kept putting it off. He had said the delay was from an accident and I took it into consideration but he never called back. The day he finally scheduled it he came 4 hours later. He proceeded to tell me all about his money and how good of a worker he was. So, I said ok this is who I will use. It took him all day to do the water tank and an associate did the commodes. He went back to the store 3 different times because he didn’t get the correct part because he didn’t measure. He had told be when he left to wait about an hour for my hot water and I didn’t have any until the second day because he had to come back and reset the gauge. When he was getting ready to leave he was loading all of the boxes and said “I don’t have room to take these sinks” and said he would come back to get them. He has not come back and I have called at least a dozen times and he has left a huge mess. I had to call the city to come get his mess of the water tank and two toilets.

Response from Maine Bathroom Remodeling
Let me first say I am sorry for any miscommunication you and I have had. I can assure you it has been on your part but I will except responsibility for most of it. However, let me tell the truth of what really transpired. You contracted me the first time on May 7th at 12:49 pm you and I talked about some work around your house I drove to your home and listen to you carry on about this and that. Which normally takes me 30 minutes to deal with a customer to set up a job took me 3 hours of hand holding with you. I told you I could do the work on May 10th if you would buy the items. You agreed and said you would go to Lowes and buy the items. I explained that you could put them on a “will call” and I would pick them up on May 10th on my way to you house. On May 10th I got my worker and I went to Lowes at 730 am and there was nothing to pick up at 7:38 am I called you and you said you had not bought them because the store didn’t have the items in stock but Muscle Shoals did and you would go there today to get them when is the next day I could do it. Now I schedule each day so we can earn money to feed our families pay our bills. I had scheduled a day (May 10th) for your job, You did not give me the courtesy the day before to inform me that you had not purchase your items I needed to install. So I wasted my day and had to pay my worker for 2 hours of his time. I then had to reschedule another day from my busy schedule to do your job beyond the day we had already agreed upon. Next day was to be done May 14th I slide a siding job back one day to satisfy your job. You told me you would go to Lowes in Muscle Shoals and buy the items over the weekend. On Saturday May 12th I went to Lowes to pick up your stuff that you told me the day before you purchased, I could not get it because you had NOT purchased it I called you at 333pm and you told me you would do it tomorrow. I wasted some more of my time. Monday May 14th as I pulled in to Muscle Shoals Lowes, I was struck from behind my someone. My truck would not start and My bumper was blocking my back doors from opening. They towed my van. I then called you at 8:13 am, you told me that you had not bought it yet. I gritted my teeth and had to schedule another day, and I would call you when my van was released from the body shop. You called me everyday wanting to know if I was able to come. Finally I scheduled you again on May 21rd, and slide stuff around to get you done. I was to meet you at 7 am at Lowes on May 21rd which you were not there and I left at 8am and never saw you nor would you answer your cell phone. At 9:14 am you called me to ask where I was, you were back home and you had a attitude like I did something wrong. I was there you were not and did not purchase your items until 822 am far from 7 am. I know this cause I have your receipt the time of purchase is listed on the receipt. At the time of your call I was given a customer a bid since I missed another day of work because of the lack of planning on your part. I was calm and professional and said I would get your stuff and be right over as soon as I could. I delt with my new bid went and re got my worker and we went to Lowes to get your stuff. After an hour and a half at Lowes they finally got me your stuff and I bought 65 dollars worth the parts to do your hot water tank. I called you at 1:36 pm and told you I had your stuff and we would install it in the morning. I was at your home at 9 am on the dot on May 22 we installed your hot water tank and two toilets that you bought. I was done at 2:20 pm and we left I told you I would be back the next day to get your hot water tank and toilets. You told me you would not be home until 1 pm I called and left two messages with you one at 1:13 and again at 2:01 on May 23th you never answered. So I could not go by and get it. I also told you over and over that we were leaving May 24th at 5 am to go to Gatlinburg Tennessee on Vacation you called me finally on May 24th at 9 am and chewed me out for leaving this stuff behind. I have the message on my phone. I was on Vacation in Gadsden at my mother and father in laws house I told you over and over I was going to be gone. As for the quality of the job or how it was installed. You got a great deal on the install and free parts that I didn’t charge you for. I had trouble because your new tank was taller then your old tank and the lines had to be redone and the standard hose connectors would not fit. This is because you didn’t follow the measurements I gave you for the new tank. However you got a great deal and a very good installation. Now as for you, I have had lots of great recommendations and you are the only problem. I am sorry you had a bad experience but if you would have done what you said from the beginning, I would have got this done on the first day instead of you wasting multiply days of mine and costing me money to do your job. I understand you are an eccentric woman just look at the condition of your home you have stuff strode every where and paths to walk from point a to b. I don’t know how you could tell if any mess is anywhere. So again I am sorry but you have got a over all “A” rated job and as for the price it was cheaper then anyone else you said it yourself to me and my worker so that should be another “A“. As for quality that was a “A” the install of toilets and hot water tank are done right and complete . Punctually I was were I was suppose to be each and every time on time. Professional well this letter is not professional but what choice was I left with?

I recently had a coyote steal my dog from the yard I watched it happen from my kitchen window. So thought I could put up a fence by myself to keep the coyote out of my yard. After trying to dig it myself I realize I needed someone to do it. I found this company in a local advertisement and hired him after he came out. I told him I needed a fence across the back of my yard about 110 feet long from neighbors fence to neignbors fence. I had bought all the material. He gave me a labor price (400) and he started a few days later, in one day he was finished and I was happy with the job. He is a good, honest man and does really good work. I would use him again Then last week (Febuary 15 2012) he came and replaced 15 windows in my house total cost 4200. He beat eveyones price by far. The windows are high quality have low e glass and are made of vinyl.
Description of Work: Had a fence put up across the back of my yard to keep coyotes and other kridders out fence labor cost $400. then a few months later I had him install windows too total cost for them 4200 for 15 windows.

While Mr Denton was here doing a fence job I asked him if he did windows, which he said he did. He gave me a bid which was hundreds of dollars less then these big name companies (Window World) and Lowe's. He measured all my windows, I paid him for them, he ordered them and within a week he was back out installing them. I was waiting the whole time for him to tell me it was going to be more then what he quoted me but he never did. He even fixed a rotten window seal that he didn't see when he was measuring he never charge me any extra. He is a good honest contractor something that is just not heard of anymore. If I ever have anything else I need done he will be my fist call.

Eric and Eric installed the most beautiful tile backsplash in the history of kitchen backsplashes for me last week. I'm just so happy with the work and the speed and professionalism with which it was completed. They also painted the kitchen along with a small bathroom and a dining room entryway (the tile installation and painting was done all in one day). My only complaint is that I had to go back and touch up the paint in a few places, but that was easy enough to do. An extra shout-out to Ceramic Harmony in Huntsville, where I purchased the tile. Their showroom is great, and I was able to find just what I was looking for.
Description of Work: Installed tile backsplash in kitchen; painted kitchen, small bathroom, and dining room entryway.

Response from Maine Bathroom Remodeling
Member, I am so happy that you have enjoyed your new backsplash it is wonderful to hear that a customer loves what they got. I am very sorry for the overlooked drops with the paint and if you need something else done I will give you a fair discount because of our mistake. It was a pleasure to work for you you are truely a treat.

Called out Lowes months ago to give me a price on removing a sliding glass door and putting a french door in. Spent 50.00 to do this and after the contractor who came told me 1800 dollars I about peed myself. Had Bama do my windows and he said he could do my French door too. So after I got the money together he came out and in one day he and another man removed my slider and put in the french doors I always wanted. Erik and Eric are good men and work hard and fast and the price was the best I could find.
Description of Work: Removed Sliding Glass Door. Replaced with a French Door.
