I contacted these folks to do a slate covering over my entryway stairs. The gentleman that called me back was very nice, but he talked at length about how difficult the job would be, and quoted me an exorbitant price! I thanked them for the quote and went with another contractor that did an OUTSTANDING JOB for a fraction of the cost.

From start to finish Bill and his team were professional and courteous completing on time. Where there were challenges the Sharper Cut team was able to be very flexible and get things squared away. We had a back yard which had been neglected for a while. The team cleaned the retaining wall (looks like new) removed an old shed, removed all debris, and installed a patio, walk, and new plantings. Even getting to the back yard was difficult because of the hilly location. We did the work in phases and are already looking forward to moving to phase II. Thanks Sharper Cut!

The design effort was a good as the first time around: flawless/perfect. The installation was made with no interruption to our daily schedule and the work crew cleaned up very nicely prior to departing. This whole effort was the result of The Sharper Cut being concerned about their reputation for doing a good job. They did a great job and my wife and I are very happy with the result.

They do great work. They cut the grass, do the hedges, and also put a new blacktop on my driveway. I'd refer them to anyone.

This was a difficult project, but Bill and his team did an outstanding job. I had a custom shed delivered by another company, but they failed to properly support the foundation. Sharper Cut built a new foundation under the existing shed to properly support it. They also created a border around the base to conceal the framework and finished it off with flower beds and landscaping. The crews were extremely professional and did a great job cleaning up the worksite. Monica made the billing pleasant and Andy was spot on making sure I was constantly informed of progress. I will be using them for future projects, as well.

It turned out well. I didn't move forward with the design implementation - it was just too expensive for us to move forward with.

They did a great job. The whole job took less than a week to do. They cleaned up well - I have no problems and no complaints.

The project was done on time and on budget. It is also aesthetically pleasing. We have no complaints. Bill Banford was our point person.

It looks nice. They did a good job. However, they also seemed to have loaded up the contract with plants that didn't seem to have a chance for long term survival. A lot of plants didn't live through the winter, and the company came back and re-installed those plants, but the plants died again; their contract only specifies one return visit after plants died.

July 7, 2015: This updates the results of the work reviewed below. During the spring and early summer of 2015, we have had weeks of rain, more than four inches a month for the last three or four months, raining day after day. This is the ultimate test of the drainage solution, and I am happy to report there are no ponds or lakes in my yard. The drainage is a major success. I contracted with Sharper Cut to create a landscape design, and the first phase (hardscape) will begin soon. I cannot recommend this company more highly. October 20, 2014: I contacted three companies. All got good scores on Angie's, and I did look for companies that had done large jobs. One gave me an estimate for ill-defined work that would clearly not have addressed the drainage issue facing my yard and would have allowed them to do just about anything, including a dirt ditch for the money. When I wrote them asking for specificity in the contract, they ignored me, and when I contacted them again, in the same email chain with the list right there, they asked what my problem was. I work with contracts: the problem was a single sentence saying they would put in a drain and remove concrete steps. Another company told me they wouldn't consider working unless the work was, upfront, at least $2,000, eventually stating they were too busy--at least that was getting to honesty. When I met with Sharper Cut, they saw right away the issue with the lack of slope in my yard and proposed I hire a civil engineer do a design that addressed elevation. They recommended one, who I think did an excellent job. The CivTech civil engineers obtained the elevations of my yard and designed the drainage system to work with the lay of the land. This cost $1,925 in addition to the Sharper Cut contract, well worth it. Sharper Cut then worked with the engineer to modify the design to bring price down somewhat. They were responsive to my request to further clarify the contract in a couple of tasks. Drainage installed is underground French drain (pipes and gravel), with backflow protection, connecting all downspouts, drains leading to an underground dry well that has overflow drain off. Yard was re-graded and replanted. In addition, I contracted to have the concrete driveway and front and side sidewalks replaced as they were deteriorated, and to have concrete steps removed and replaced with an entrance deck. Sharper Cut designed the deck style to work with an existing, separate deck. The walk and drive look great. Sharper Cut was responsive, paid attention to detail, had good communication, and followed up more than once to make sure everything is working as designed. Based on their performance, I am having Sharper Cut come back for a design for planting for my yard. I cannot recommend them more highly.

We're very happy with them -- the plants are still there. They do reminder calls. The first time that they do the holiday lights, it's more expensive because you purchase the lights from them. We like the professional look of the lights, the ease, and the artistry. Justin & Monica made all the difference in the world!

Ultimately chose another provider.

Mike, our designer did a great job. He changed his schedule to meet ours on more than one occasion. He listened to our input and came up with a spectacular design that covered every contingency, including "dog friendly" landscaping. 3d CAD models were especially helpful in conceptualizing the design. Also, we got HOA approval with only one try, no re-submissions or changes.

I really can't say enough about the service and product that we received from Sharper Cut. They were responsive, professional, and gave us exactly what we were seeking. Justin was so great, and gave us a very realistic idea of what to expect and what they could do. Our patio has transformed the backyard and makes the house feel bigger because we have more usable space. It also looks beautiful! We gave Justin a very general idea of what we wanted, and he was able to give us options and allow us to figure out what would work best for us.

Sharper Cut is an excellent company, and we were impressed from start to finish. Justin and Billy are a pleasure to work with, and provided just the right amount of help during the design phase to come up with something we would enjoy. We had a few changes during the building process, and they worked to incorporate these to ensure we were satisfied in the end. Email and phone were used primarily, with a couple of on-site visits. The online meeting worked well, where Justin drew out the design and displayed it while we talked on the phone, to make sure our desires were met. Emails were generally answered very quickly, usually within a few hours and always within a day. The main carpenter, Oswaldo, was polite, and very detail oriented. It's good to have a perfectionist working on a project like this! He had help during various phases, including digging the post holes and setting them, building the deck, extending existing drainage system, the CR6 patio base, and finish work. A 3-D design was mentioned for an additional fee, and we might recommend this although we did not use it. It would allow the customers to better visualize the details (shape, railing, etc) to ensure it looks the way they want. It might cost a few hundred dollars, but in the big scheme might help to avoid more expensive design changes mid-stream. One or two bushes were damaged during material delivery, and they took the trouble to replace all six bushes to ensure they matched. They also repaired a grass area that was rutted by a trailer. Overall, we were very happy with the experience and would recommend this company to friends and family.

The Sharper Cut is a very professional and organized company. My wife and I felt very comfortable with the customer service and honesty they displayed while going over our wants and needs of our property. Price: This seems to be a spot where most reviews of this company drop to the B or C level, let me explain why. If you are a landscape plan and design virgins, like my wife and I, paying a few grand out of pocket before any work (ground breaking) is even estimated will be a shock. Not realizing that they do a lot of work for your design ( i.e., check for utilities, exact measurements, review of specific codes/zoning issues) we had no idea a drawing/design would cost so much. However, they do try to work with you as much as they can without hurting their bottom line. Overall: We will be using this company. This company is EXTREMELY thorough. If you think you can pull off the codes, zoning issues, in's and out's of projects DIY style and save some money then this may not be for you. If you're like my wife and I, and want a complete one stop shop, "turn Key" product without having to deal with the aforementioned issues , this is the company for you. Just be prepared to pay a bit more.

Excellent job! Great contractor, support, staff, service, etc. Stayed within the timeline and budget. I would recommend them to anyone! True professionals.

They gave a good quote. It was a good experience. They responded within 48 hours to my request. They set up the appointment and had the availability to meet up with me after I got off of work so I didn’t have to take a day off.

The service was superb. The quality was great. They were very punctual and they showed up when they said they would. They followed up when they said they would and they just delivered on everything they promised. This was an excellent company to work with. They will be putting in holiday lights for me and they do a 3D version of that. I have referred them to several people as well. A lot of people have been impressed with the work they provide and have inquired about their services.

The service is wonderful. We are very happy with them. The quality was very good. They showed up on time and they were very respectful of our property. The workers did a great job and they worked very hard when providing the work. We get compliments all of the time about our yard.
