Larry seemed very honest and concerned about my possessions. His crew worked fairly hard throughout the day. I had no real damages which had always been an issue with other companies. It was a good experience.

Larry delivered exactly as promised. Because I live a distance away, I opted for having Larry provide an estimate based on the photographs taken by my realtor and a detailed email that I provided to Larry of the items and description of the size and weight of several large pieces. If I were to change anything about the entire experience, I would have requested an in-person estimate because then I could have anticipated and prepared for some of the unexpected issues, i.e. assembling/disassembling. I think we both underestimated the amount of time it would take to disassemble/reassemble furniure and how much stuff we actually had because we filled a 26-foot truck and a portion of Larry's 20-foot truck. But, Larry still came within $100 of his estimate. Larry's partner and four-man team are AMAZING. These men worked tirelessly, were friendIy and never stopped smiling throughout the 11-hour day. I hired LC Movers because of the Angie's List reviews indicating that they were careful with your furniture, and I was not disappointed. Despite the weight of my furniture (not to mention that most of the heaviest pieces went on the second floor), there was no damage to any of my furniture or my walls. Larry knows furniture and was able to disassemble and reassemble nearly everything. He let us know when there were problems with our son's bunkbeds and before attempting to move several large IKEA wardrobes, he explained that the only safe way to move them would be to disassemble them, but given the cost/delay we opted to leave them until after the move. Larry was very accommodating and has a laid back manner that at first made me question whether he was going to be able to do the job. When I learned two days before our move that it was going to snow on our moving date, Larry opted to move the date since they were available, and he commented that it would be safer for his team and less expensive for us. Larry brought a sense of calm and did not take it personally if we were short or snippy. In the end I realized that his manner was exactly what we needed because tension was already high in our house from the stress of selling a house, buying a house and packing, and despite his deceptively laid back manner on the telephone, he absolutely got the job done. As for pricing/cost, I think LC Movers is not cheap but fair, and you get what you pay for. There were certainly other companies with lower hourly rates, but it was more important to me to find a mover with a reputation for handling things with care, and that is exactly what LC Movers does. More importantly, they really are a "team", and we all worked together to get an enormous job done with as much ease as possible. If you can believe it, the men taught me Spanish, made me smile and I ended the day hugging each of them because they worked as hard as if they were members of my family helping me move. Without hesitation, I can recommend LC Movers to anyone who wants their possessions handled with care and enjoys a laid back informal team of men that are there to get the job done. PS. I highly recommend the color coded moving tape from U-Haul as it made coordinating where everything went much simpler.
Description of Work: We had a short distance move, but since we had "grown" in our home, we had a lot of stuff. We moved from a 2000 square foot house to a 5000 square foot house less than ten miles away. Larry and his team disassembled and reassemble furniture (I highly recommend this service), and moved a large amount of boxes and furniture filling a 26-foot truck and a portion of a 20-foot truck.

Overall the experience was tremendous. Larry handles his team and just does what you hope he does: move everything in and out at a decent pace without breaking anything. I trusted Larry the minute I met him so much so that I left my apartment and went to have dinner with my folks and then waited for him to call me when they were done. His crew was equally as trustworthy and above all everyone was really nice!! That goes a long way when you are in the midst of a home purchase and the stress levels inherently run high. As I stated above, my move was actually more complicated than most b/c it took place over several days. Larry cut me a break on the price of moving my weight set which he had to do several days later, and I greatly appreciated that based on the fact I was running thin with cash after our home purchase. He's a solid guy who knows what the job is, how to do it, and I literally have nothing outside of positive comments to write here.
Description of Work: Larry moved my wife and I from a 2 bedroom apartment (roughly 1300 square feet) into our first single family home (roughly 1800 square feet). In addition, Larry traveled to my uncle's home (about 15 minutes away) to load and unload a fairly significant weight set that required himself and a partner. The move actually was done over several days and at night b/c we had to be out of our apartment several days prior to closing on our new home. Larry and his team moved us out originally on a Sunday night and then came back a week later to move us in. Then a week or so later, he came back to pickup the weight set. I rented a Penske Truck simply b/c it was cheaper to rent the truck and keep everything in there rather than rent a storage locker and have them load and unload things twice. Bottom line is that Larry was incredibly available to do this work even at night and on a Sunday...that's impeccable.

It didn't, he never called me back so we could use him.
Description of Work: I contacted Larry at the end of October, beginning of November for a possible move to Florida. I asked if it wasn't cost effective to drive his truck down and back if he would still be able to load my UHaul it truck and then maybe he would be interested in driving the truck down. He said it would definitely be something that he would be interested in doing and asked that I email him the details and my name and phone number and he would call me. I have never heard back from him since that day. I have even emailed him again and nothing. If this is the kind of customer service he provides than he can forget ever getting business from me and I will make sure all of my family and friends know how he operates. I guess in this economy he just doesn't want the business.

How disappointing! We just got off the phone with Larry. He said he was "far too busy" in the next six weeks to drive all the way up to Bel Air from Towson (25 minutes) to give us an estimate on our interstate move. He suggested that we email him an itemized list of everything we have to move, then he would work on an estimate. Even if we could provide an accurate list, it could not possibly reflect the detail required to develop an accurate estimate. We don't do moving for a living, which is why we contacted a professional. Larry's response was less than stellar.
Description of Work: We are moving to North Carolina in six weeks, and went first to the Angie's List highest rated mover in the area. We had hoped to get an estimate of the move and insight into what the moving process would involve (lead times, packing options, etc).

I have moved 32 time in my Adult life, the move with LLC was by far the best. Larry is a professional and his eye for perfection was amazing. We enjoyed working with Larry so much that we used him twice in three weeks, first for a commercial move, and then for a standard house move. At the beginning of the day, he called to let us know he was on the way. His group was very efficient, and Larry took great care with our furniture and new house. He was very attentive to our needs and made some good suggestions. He and his group were very pleasant to work with, and both moves went very smoothly.

The move went well overall. All the furniture came intact. I did help some amount, particularly with the light items, to make it quicker and save me money. Although I paid what we had agreed upon at the beginning, I felt that I paid more than I should have. I called Larry around 3 weeks before the move. I gave him an estimate of the stuff (I estimated that I would have 15 boxes, which later turned out to be 25, everything else was accurate) and the details of the two apartments I was moving between. Larry told me that it would take around 3 hours for 3 people. We agreed to a rate of $115 per hour + $85 fixed for the piano. That would amount to $430 in total. In between, there was some uncertainty about when I would get the new apartment, and I tried calling Larry to reschedule. He was difficult to reach (and his voicemail-box was full), but after a few tries I got through. In the end, the original date worked out, and so it didn't matter. On the day of the move, Larry came on time with two other men. Two of the men were somewhat stronger than the average person, while one was just average (Definitely not big, strong guys). Since the apartment I was moving from was a high-rise with an elevator, I had assumed that Larry would bring a large dolly that could hold 5-6 boxes (similar to what storage places have). However, there was only a squeaky L-shaped appliance dolly and a piano dolly. This, combined with the building design, the lack of a dedicated elevator, and the rain that day caused loading to take 3 hours. The movers were careful with furniture and waterproofed each and every piece as they carried it to the truck. There were plenty of blankets in the truck to keep the furniture and boxes padded during transport. Unloading ended up being faster since it was a garden apartment, taking two hours. The movers handled the piano very well (more than made up for their lack of brute strength) and brought it up without a scratch. They put the boxes and furniture where I requested them. All the furniture, barring a small side table (that had a weak weld joint which gave way), arrived undamaged. At the end of the day, everything took 6 hours (including the drive to and from Fell's Point, where the starting location is). Although I did not dispute the amount Larry asked me to pay, I later felt that given their lack of a good dolly and the fact that the rain delay meant more time (not work), charging $115 for all six hours was a little too much. I feel that around $650 would have been the right amount. Overall, given the good service and that everything reached in good condition, a $100 extra is not too bad.
Description of Work: I shifted home within town, moving about 10 miles, from a one-bedroom apt to a two-bedroom apt. My stuff included a queen size bed (dismantled), a twin bed, a dining table(dismantled), a computer table(dismantled), a loveseat, a dresser (all Ikea), a piano (small, ~350 pounds), about 25 medium-large boxes, and other minor stuff. The one bedroom apartment was located in a high rise with an elevator. The two bedroom apartment was located on the 2nd floor with 21 steps and two turns to navigate.

Mr. Cohen and his crew did an outstanding job for us. They managed to get an overstuffed king size mattress up a stairwell in a small row house. Others would have given up, but all five of these men made it happen with no damage to the walls or mattress. I've never seen such a hard working crew. This is not a big moving firm, but one which will work with you to get the best service at a reasonable price.

I found this company recommended on Angie's List and called them about our move. I spoke to Larry around 7/18 and on the initial call he was very thorough walking through all of our belongings by room to get a sense for the size of truck and number of movers that would be required. This was helpful, as I probably would have underestimated otherwise. He quoted me a price of $175 per hour for five movers plus a mileage charge for their truck. It seemed reasonable and I got on their calendar for a moving date of 8/1. We followed-up the week prior to confirm that date to be sure. On the day before the move, I received a call from Larry and he notified us that they would be a bit delayed in the morning because the truck they had reserved for the move was no longer available but that he had spent a lot of time calling around an found a truck that was available at 10 AM. I add this detail not because it was a problem for us, but in the interest of full disclosure and because potential customers may want to know that they don't own the truck and as truck-renters may have similar minor issues. The important thing was that he was able to resolve the issue and keep our move on track. They arrived promptly on moving day with a crew of Larry, Gregory, and three other movers. All of the workers were very efficient, friendly, and accomodating of our toddler who was running around all day. It was clear that Larry spent a lot of time and put thought into packing everything securely into the truck. Everyone worked very h****** a hot day both packing up our items and unpacking at the new house. Everything seems to have made it through the move without any damage, which is easier said than done. After the work was completed Larry gave me a detailed accounting of the total payable, and the cost was totally fair and transparent and there were no hidden or added charges beyond what he originally specified. Overall we were very happy with the job. Moving is a total PITA, and these guys did an excellent job for a reasonable price.

Thank you, member. I wanted to mention, that I have a 15 ft. box truck. I rent the proper size truck for all other moves- 75% of them. Running into a problem is an anomaly. If I can't rely on a company to be available to give me an estimate, I certainly can not rely on them to be competent enough to do the job for me.
Description of Work: This is my first experience with Angie's List and so far I am not sure if I should have any confidence the customer's ratings. Member- Maybe you should have tried emailing me. The drawback to doing EVERY job myself is that I can't always answer the phone, especially when someone else is paying me. 2nd drawback is that I get so many calls during the summer, that my mailbox sometimes is full. Maybe a please call me text would work too. It should also be said that I was having problems with my cell phone for a week starting around 2 weeks ago, The cell phone has been replaced. There are plenty of people to call- the need to drop a negative report on someone as dedicated & caring as I am is at best- telling & at worst- outright mean. Thanks. - LC

I consulted with LC Movers (Larry) a few weeks prior and gave a basic rundown of the job. Larry immediately tried to work out arrangements that would save me time and money. I called the day before the move just to make sure all arrangements were set. There was a logistical snag that Larry was able to work through creatively and fairly, that worked out for the best in the end. The morning of the move began with a call at 8am sharp, reasurring me that Larry and crew were on their way. When they showed up a little while later, they didn't look like much and I thought I had cause for concern. They aren't gym rats, but what they lacked in physique they more than made up for in energy and positivity. I gather that Larry spent much of his days at the University of Delaware playing Tetris. He masterminded a perfect fit of my furniture and belongings in a the only configuration that would have worked for each load. Every box and piece of furniture was cared for as if it were his own. I was embarrassed that my junky furniture was treated like Ming Dynasty china, but it was appreciated. Another impressive feat was that the walls and floors remained unscuffed. It looked like tire treads on my walls from the previous movers, but not with LC. Beginning to end, drive time and lunch included, it took three truck loads and 10 hours, and the heat was recorded on the radio at 103 degrees. Much of the unload at the new house was in a oven-like attic on the third floor. The fellas smiled and joked instead of complaining and dawdling. Moving felt at ease as if my friends were helping, except that my friends aren't as organized and energized as Larry and the boys. This group is a great hire everytime, and if I had the energy for another move, I'd absolutely 100% without question would call them back.
Description of Work: LC Movers moved my family out of our 3 bedroom townhome in Halethorpe, grabbed all of our belongings in the 15X30 storage unit downtown, and hauled and unloaded all to our new 4 bedroom single family home in Towson. No packing was involved, only loading and unloading. We are a young family of 3, soon to be 4, with an average size load of materials.

The owner of the company (and a mover himself) experienced a family emergency on the day of the scheduled move. He didn't call me to cancel (which was understandable, given the circumstances). And when I checked back, he was able to reschedule us for the next business day. He and his associate showed up on time and were were very professional - and careful to see that my home was not damaged. We had some minor damage to the stairway newel post but nothing to worry about. Overall I was very satisfied with their responsiveness and their ability to take on a relatively small moving job like this on short notice.

The move went very well. Larry called when they were on the way and arrived exactly when he anticipated they would. The move itself was difficult due to the layout of our apartment building. All items had to be carried to an elevator, taken to the ground floor, then carried out of the garage to the truck. The move took a bit longer than he anticipated, but Larry and Gregory were able to unload even more quickly than they thought to make up some time. They were both very courteous and personable throughout the entire move. I would recommend them to anyone and would use LC Movers in the future.

I am writing this review as someone who grew up in a family that owned a moving company (long ago and far away!), so when I say that LC Movers' service was exemplary, I know whereof I speak. I called and left a message for Larry, he responded to me later that day, took all the information on what I proposed to move, gave me an estimate, and scheduled my move. I will say that I didn't check with any other companies, so I can't compare the price ($89/hour for a van and 2 men). I needed someone fairly quickly and all the reviews on Angie's List led me to commit to Larry as soon as I talked to him. Luckily, we had a perfect day for the move -- not too hot, not too cold, no rain. Larry and Johnny called when they were leaving and arrived when I expected them. I showed them the various pieces of furniture I wanted to move -- located in various rooms on 3 floors plus 2 porches of the house. I added a couple of pieces that I hadn't included in the initial conversation. They loaded everything I requested inaddition to moving some pieces around within the house. At the apartment, they placed all the furniture and the boxes exactly where I wanted them so I didn't have to move anything around. Both Larry and Johnny were great to work with. The estimate of 5-6 hours was exactly what was required. It was worth every penny!
Description of Work: Moving part of a household to a 1-bedroom apartment. Furniture and boxes located throughout the house.
