 + -1 moreThey did not keep thier appointment time which is today, 6/9/2014 between 8 and 10.
Description of Work: I scheduled an appoitment 3 weeks ago for today. The reason I scheduled that far in advance is because I needed the first appointment. I was told my appointment was between 8 and 10. As a followup, I called this morning to confirm and was told my appoitment was for "sometime" today. Clearly that was not was agreed to and I believe the only reason McCrea moved my appointment was because I had already paid in advance. I could not get hold of the manager for Maryland. Marshall. If I was a new appointment they would have bent over backward to be there. It is not the first time McCrea has done this to me but it is definetely the last.

 + -1 moreTravis,the service tech came, called me prior to arrival. I can't blame him for making me wait since 10am when actual arrival was close to 7pm. The service intake people informed me that they couldn't give me a time frame and that I would only get a 30 minute phone call prior to the arrival. Just wished someone could have told me that they knew for sure the times that they would not come so that I could get some errands done. Overall, my experience was great.

Service Technician was very nice and nothing against him but would really love to find a air service repair company that takes some initiative and pride in their work. Tired of companies just coming out/doing the service call/basic routine then going away - sort of like "Check" got that one out of the way now can go on to the next. If they want a customer that keeps calling them back and recommends them, then put a little effort into the call and make it seem like they really care that the system operates at it's best and that they can fix it correctly.
Description of Work: Checked outside air unit systems, ran diagnostics/test, recommended additional work due to the current system set up but didn't supply estimate.

 + -1 moreThe regular technician came, inspected my thermometer, vents, air filters and took my heating system apart, checking the insides, using some type of machinery and said system was ok. I didn't pay anything because I have a contract with them and have had it for over 12 years.

 + -1 moreWe have a maintenance contract with McCrea, for two yearly maintenance checks and because we have their GOLD Plan can contact them 24/7 for repairs. Came out the next day to check the heat pump and determined the problem, ordered part needed and within two days was back to repair. We would not go without their contract because ever since we have purchased a contract the service calls when needed have paid for themselves.. Always very pleased with their response and with all the techs that have been to our home. Very pleasant and always keep us aprised of the situation.

 + -1 moreThis final time we decided to contact someone else, although our unit is still under warranty we don't trust the contractor. Using Angie's list helped our confidence. We are so happy we used Angie's List. We are more than happy with the service from Mcrea's and will call them back for future jobs.
Description of Work: Aaron G came out to diagnosis the problem we were having with our heat. We were hesitant to call anyone because our HVAC unit had been recently installed by another conteactor who did a nightmare job. We have been dealing with issues and stress with the other contractor ever since installation.

 + -1 moreIn August, 2013 I purchased equipment from a technician and was assured they would accommodate my work schedule and come out at night. After spending $500.00 for the equipment, the service department advised me there were no night service calls. I assume the technician did not tell the truth so he could get the commission for the sale. Maybe he really didn't know... For years I had a service contract with Total Comfort HFAC, who were bought out by McCrea. I kept the service contract when McCrea took over and had no problem with them for several years. Of course, I never needed them, either, until a recent deep freeze and I called for service when my heat pump did not work. That's why we buy these contracts, right: so they'll come when we need them? The service department could not schedule me until the next day, and then they didn't show up! I cancelled.

 + -1 moreFirst and foremost, the manager/supervisor STOLE a used (3 year old) washer and dryer from us after asking about buying them. He took them without notice, but later said he would pay for these several times, but never followed through. When it came time for me to pay my GC for the work, GC claimed no knowledge - didn't want to get in the middle of it, and we were only asking $100 and had bigger fish to fry in the context of a half million dollar job so we let it go. It is more the principle of the thing than the $, but he will never get a reference from us. Work was OK, but slow overall. Didn't communicate very clearly which systems were available at what up charge in order to qualify for state & federal tax credits. I guess we are lucky to have functioning systems - although they are a bit noisy.
Description of Work: Installed 3 HVAC systems including new ductwork on 3 floors of a whole house renovation and addition as a subcontractor to my GC.

 + -1 moreCustomer Service sent someone out three times, it wasn't until the fourth time that I got someone who knew what they were doing, but I had to call multiple times to get the fourth visit. On the bright side though, they were a few thousand dollars cheaper than other A/C professionals we had contacted.
Description of Work: They replaced the indoor and outdoor unit, the indoor unit was leaking at first.

I contacted the officeand let them know this. They were repsonsive to my concern, and they honored my next year of service for free because of this.

 + -1 moreMccrea is a grade 'A Plus' Company. But the people make up the company. Let me tell you about them. John Prince, our Comfort Consultant is an 'A Plus' Professional and he is personiable. He listens very well, and helps you in making your decision. John's managers and associates 'leaned into the wind' to help get the system we wanted at a reasonable price. They are 'A Plus'. Leslie, works with John in the office and she is an 'A Plus' professional who listens, helps you make a decision and has a strong follow-through. She knows her business. She is a Fire-Cracker, as the older folks used to say. She was instrumental and infallible in helping us get funding. Our installers, Brian and Mark, are 'A Plus' as well. They came right in, took out our old system and installed our new Trane system within about 8 hour in one day. They cleaned up, we signed the contract and left. They were very courteous, personable and professional. We have an 'A Plus' team that we will call again soon.
Description of Work: Grade A Plus. We have had great AC and Heat services by McCrea for more than 20 years. They out did themselves this time. We replaced our 18 year York system with a new Trane system this time. It is so quiet that you almost forget it runs sometimes. You just know that your home is always comfortable.

 + -1 moreMy experience was and has been excellent as always when I use McCrea for my heating and ac needs. I have been using them for the last 10 years. Very pleased with their customer service from the time I phone them to when the technician leaves my home. What I like the most about them is that they have specific technicians assigned to specific areas and these are the techs that you become familar with on every visit to your home. This means alot I feel to a customer because when it is the same tech it is just like it is with say your doctor, they come to know you and your equipment on the personal side. They know what problems you have had before and know what has been done on your equipment so you don't have to explain everything that has or has not happened to your equipment. Sometimes the tech remembers things that he has done to my heat pumps that I have forgotten about. In having the same one or two techs for all of your calls it also makes you feel safe to have them in your house because you have come to know and trust them.
Description of Work: I have a twice yearly maintenance agreement with McGrea and they came out to do my winter maintenance on my two heat pumps.

 + -1 moreSo far the overall experience was quite satisfactory with McCrea for the installation. The employees are friendly and professional. They knew what they're doing and had it done efficiently.
Description of Work: The furnaces and AC of our house are 19 yrs old and presented some safety concerns. We decided to replace the 2 furnaces and 2 AC, which was a big deal for us. After researching on the web and talking to our neighbors, we finally decided to try McCrea for their good reputation. It turned out that we are quite happy with the whole process of dealing with McCrea employees, and the installation they have done. I submitted online request to McCrea around 7pm Sunday night, and got email response from Mark within 30 mins. We then decided to meet for the consultation on Monday. Before McCrea we have talked to quite a few companies, so we certainly have some rough idea and expectation. Mark hasn't let us down during the consultation so we quickly signed up with McCrea for the project --- understandably, the fact that more than one neighbors' good words did play a big part of our decision making. On installation date (Wednesday), 2 guys (less than what my neighbor had but did nothing less) came as scheduled with a fully loaded truck (2 trane furnaces and 2 AC). They first cover the floor and stairs properly before moving the parts/tools into the house. While one guy was working on the furnace in the attic, another worked on the one in the basement. The opening to our attic was a little too small (also mentioned by other companies) for the furnace to fit, but they came prepared so it only took some extra time to remove and put back the opening. I was told before-handed that some minor painting may be necessary afterwards, but the removal/putback was done carefully so we ended up doing nothing. Before 4pm, all 4 units were installed and tested to be working properly. After the workers cleaned up and left, I have little extra cleaning to do, except for vaccuming some insulation came from the attic. Now the furnaces work perfectly as we expected. We have yet to tried the AC, but McCrea promised to come back in spring for further tune-up before turning them on for the summer.

 + -1 moreThis was a great experience from the start. I had difficulties even getting estimates from other installers, let alone accurate ones. John Prince from Sales provided me a clear and concise estimate. I told him what I wanted from my new system. He pointed out how by utilizing a certain rebate, I would be getting a more efficient system for essentially the same price. Between John and Leslie (at the office) they made sure the deal went through financially as to reduce any issues on my families budget in the short term. The installer team of Kevin W. and Mike C. were also A+. They answered all my questions in addition to performing a great install. Their enthusiasm about the product was evident from the start. Dont even waste your time with the others, unless you want to see how you should be treated!
