I have not had any more problems.

After reviewing 4 roofing companies I chose Mackay Home Improvements to replace my roof. I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED - Excellent Job ! They did a fantastic job at a reasonable price and the job was completed in a timely fashion. The quality of work was outstanding and they left the site spotless. Before contacting the Mackay Home Improvements company I had a leak that caused the ceiling paint to peel in several places. The company came out immediately to survey the problem. They explained to me what was needed to remedy the issue and made the repairs as quoted. Since the completion of the roof replacement there were a couple of really bad storms that proved to be a great test. The new roof passed with flying colors. There were no signs of any more leaks. Everything was bone dry. I would highly recommend the services of the MACKEY HOME IMPROVEMENTS COMPANY. Especially if you need a roof. Cindy S. Washington DC

We have used Lewis MacKay Roofing for two small jobs and one major roof replacement in the past three years. Mr. MacKay heads the local family business and provides quick responses and very fair estimates for roofing work in DC. He communicates by phone, email, and in person. He and his son supervise all projects. The business is licensed in DC, MD, and VA. We first employed them in 2011 to fix an in-progress leak and selected them because of their BBB rating and the fact one of the MacKays answered the phone when we called between swapping out buckets. Their customer service, pricing, professional work, and pleasant demeanor made us repeat customers when additional work was needed. We later learned they had also repaired several roofs in our neighborhood. On our last job, the roof replacement, Mr. MacKay's team worked very hard all day to complete the big job and take advantage of a break in the rainy weather. The team worked well together and efficiently. They did excellent work, we are very happy with the final result. We recommend Lewis MacKay Roofing to anyone in DC who needs roofing work done right and at a fair price.

The roof is still leaking.

It was unsatisfactory. Mr. Mackay's son came out with his brother. I told them there were 3 things I wanted done. I have a skylight that I wanted wrapped with wire. So that when the snow melts, it doesn't drip through the vent. They said they would put plastic on it. I also wanted to get something done to my trap door, so that it would open. Then I wanted the leak repaired on the roof over my bathroom. He was very short with me. He didn't want to hear what I had to say. My problem with them was about the leak. I went up in the attic and saw wet spots. I told him I wanted it repaired. He said he was going to seal around the dormer. I asked him if he could seal in another spot as well. He said he would only seal by the dormer. I just let it go. After he left, it rained 3 days later, and the leak was still there. It seemed like he didn't do anything. I asked for my money back. He was very rude to me, and cursed at me. He said he was going to send me $200 and to never call him again. He sent me $150, not the $200 he said he was going to give me. He also didn't itemize the prices on the contract.

He's very slick - when he wrote the contract he said he would fill in the places on the wall but didn't say what with. I think he's a cheapskate. I wouldn't recommend him to anybody.
