I first called and was given a time window for Thursday. The dispatcher/secretary called thirty minutes before time window would have been up, to say she didn't know when a provider would be able to come out, so we rescheduled for the next morning. The provider came out Friday morning, and asked to see the water heater. When I brought him done to the basement, he insisted that he smelled gas and that 'there was a strong leak'. He said I should really call my gas company. When I called Washington Gas, they instructed that all work done on house be ceased until someone from Washington Gas could come out to inspect the leak. The plumber from Len then backpedaled, insisting that installing a new garbage disposal would in no way be dangerous with a leak. He finished his work and then left. Someone from Washington Gas came to my residence and said there was no leak, and we strongly suspect that the provider from Len the Plumber was trying to 'scare' me into purchasing a new water heater. In addition, he did not want to give me Angie's List discount until I insisted. Oh, and did I mention that I had a 10 day old at home at the time? The provider saw my newborn yet still acted selfish and unprofessional. The only reason I'm giving Len the Plumber a 'D' is because the dispatcher was very nice and apologetic that she could not give an arrival time for the plumber.

The person that came took a look at the leak, he went downstairs and there was pretty much that he could have done for the leak. It has to do with the water system in the building and it would have shot down the water. So he charged me for the investigation and for him coming. So I called the service of the building and the work was done without any issues so I called the plumber to tell him what happened. The water was shut off outside was turned off with no issues and fixed the leak with a matter of an hour and I asked for a refund for them coming out but they still charged me for the investigation that they did. They did refund me, they eventually gave me a discount for the investigation and refunded me for them coming out.

I have used the services of Len The Plumber recently. The cost was 600 dollars and they ripped me off. I have nothing but bad things to say about them. I found out the fact that I did not need the garbage disposal, I only needed a switch for the garbage disposal. They ripped me off by 600 dollars. I will not use them again or recommend them to anybody.

Horrible. Yeah I was actually going to call and ask a refund from Angie's List. He charged me $2600 for a water heater. I tried to reason with him. I tried to work with him. The worst part is my water heater was still under warranty from the previous times. My neighbor was here not myself. The guy took out the water heater, he replaced it with the exact same one. It's a factory warranty. So he brought the same one back here and says this comes with a six year warranty. I told my neighbor to tell him that that one was only five years old. So if he would have been a good man he would have said this is still under warranty and called them up. I did call them up and they said, If he has my hot water heater, which the guy at Len the Plumber said they still had my old one and all they had to do was send it in and they would get a replacement and I could get my money. But then at the end of the week she just sent me an email saying I'm sorry there is nothing more we can do. Took away a good water heater that was still under warranty and blew me off. None of it was good. None of it was good at all.

It was fine. That was the first time I used them. They were very nice and very professional. They were timely, walk me through exactly with their recommendations and they evaluated the problem. I think they were a little pricey. I think I would shop around because of the price. I will recommend them but I would also say that their price is a little high.

I was very satisfied. They cleaned up after themselves and cleaned up all the dust. He told me beforehand what was involved and how much it's going to cost. I was very pleased in all other plumbers I've used. The price is high.

Their whole thing about same day plumber service, they can't do that. I don't know why they advertised that. I had to wait four or five days. Once they finally got there, they fixed it and they did a good job. It cost a lot. I wouldn't say they were really expensive. Their market value may probably be a little high. I had to wait a while and it was a little expensive.

It went well. They came out the next day and it was late at night when we called and they fixed the issue. It was more expensive than we though. That was good. My husband dealt with the guy and he was pleased with the work and he didn't have anything negative to say. They came out within less than 12 hours and they fixed the issue and that's important. They were a little bit earlier than they said.

Len The Plumber have done several jobs for me. Until the last job I was pleased. I have had them in a couple of times to stop the leaking with no success. They seem to be unable to stop it. I don't know what they did when they cleaned the water heater but he told me that it is an old water heater, blah, blah, you will need to buy a new water heater and we will charge you 1600 dollars, blah, blah, blah. The last time I talked to them, I was unsuccessful in getting information that I wanted over the phone so I will no longer be using them. In the past I have been very pleased with their work. It is just this one particular time that I have been unable to get them to assist me as I consider appropriate as the problem was created by their person. I can't say I don't recommend them. I will say it is like any other business, there are times they do very well and times they do not do so well. I am mid way between good and bad. I talked to him over the phone yesterday or the day before. I am looking for another plumber as I will not be using the same plumber again. It was expensive and I am not sure if that pipe needed replacing because there was no problems with the pipe. All we wanted was cleaning the water heater and not replacing it but he said, oh, the pipe, you can replace the pipe, the pipe needs to be replaced. I will not be using them again. In the past the quality has been satisfactory, just this one time it has been far from satisfactory. I think they are fair at being punctual. I will not use them again in the future, not after this past experience.
Description of Work: The last job was simply cleaning the water heather out and after that it commenced to leak. The service was for cleaning the water heater and replacing a water intake pipe.

I had a leak in my utility room from both shut-off valves that run out to the front and read yard faucets. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday May 30 between 10AM and 2PM(their 4 hr window). I cleared out my schedule for them to come over. On Saturday as I waited I received a call from them that all their plumbers were on emergency calls and that their plumbers would not be able to be at my house and if I could reschedule for the following Saturday (6/6/2015) from between 10AM and 2PM (once again their 4 hour window), I said it was okay. I adjusted my schedule to make myself available until 5PM that Saturday. On Saturday morning at 10AM I called to ensure the appointment and was told everything was okay. At 2 PM I called again and was told by the dispatcher that the technician was running late and would be there soon. I called again at 3PM and the dispatcher told me that the technician was still busy and she would try to find another plumber. I asked to speak with the manager . He told me that on the weekend he has limited resources and his staff was busy on more important plumbing problems than leaky valves. He said he would offer me $100 dollars off the bill but then it got kind of bizarre. . He told me he would try to get me someone to my house after 4PM. I told him if he could do that I would cancel my schedule after 5PM. I asked if he was sure if he could get someone before 5PM he was not sure. Then I asked him what time his people worked until and he stated 5PM. I then asked him if someone comes after 4PM would they complete my job, he re-stated that they work until 5PM. I asked what that would prove and he said they could evaluate the job. At that point I told him his services would not be required. I am quite disappointed, I work with customers at where I work and realize that emergencies may require re-scheduling work but if we need to reschedule a customer without notice we MAKE SURE that we get to them at the next appointment and make them a priority. Obviously they judged that my work order was not worth their time and that my time was expendable. I can not make any comments on the quality of their work as none was done but their business ethics leave something to be desired.

We contacted them on a Saturday and they showed up very quickly that day. We didn't have any hot water which is why we called. He determined that we had a defective gas control valve. He was able to relight the pilot light until we got a replacement. He also showed me how to light the pilot so that when it goes out, I can get some more hot water. He said that they could replace the unit on Monday if I wanted. The technician was very polite and helpful.
Description of Work: Lit the pilot on my gas heater and determined that it needed to be replaced. He provided me with a quote for a replacement heater.

The appointment was terrible. The plumber did not call me before he arrived. He left plumber's putty all over my floor that he scraped off of my strainer. He gave me a quote of 299.00 to replace a strainer basket. I explained to the plumber that the price was too high and I refused to pay that price. So I called another plumber who came on the same day and received a different evaluation. The other company offered to replace the tail piece on the strainer basket, instead of replacing the entire basket. This solved my problem and I was completely satisfied. I called Len the Plumber 240-436-1913 the next day to speak with them about this and was told that my message would be forwarded to a supervisor. No one ever returned my call or followed up with my concern. All I wanted was my 49.00 trip fee returned, since their evaluations was incorrect.
Description of Work: He just gave me an evaluation and charged me a 49.00 trip fee. Update: The company called me the next day and offered to refund my fee, which was nice. I did receive the check a few weeks later.

He was a master plumber and he saved me a bunch of money. I had a pipe replaced around my shower and they altered my payment plan to save me a lot. HE was very courteous, he had a lot of knowledge and I would use them again if I needed plumbing services. He was on time. I spent about $200.

I have no complaints about our technician. He did a very good job. His adviser even went out of his way to try and find the desired finish on the faucet but it was not in stock. However I felt we were misled into thinking the faucet could be fixed without buying a new one and that the agreed upon service time was not honored. We were repairing our kitchen faucet with a part from the manufacturer and in the process two pieces in the faucet body became crossthreaded. It was late on Saturday of Easter weekend and we were now faced with no working kitchen faucet. My husband called Len and explained the problem and that we only needed those cross threaded parts and asked if they carried these parts on their truck. We were told that the parts were carried on the truck.. They wanted to set up an appointment on Easter morning but we weren't going to be home. However, we said we would be home after 2 pm so the appointment was set for 2-5 pm. They never showed. We called after 6, got the answering service, and left a message asking why they didn't show. Early on Monday we received a call from Len's scheduler in response to an email from the answering service. Apparently we were called by the plumber at 12:30 and 12:45 on Easter and when he got no answer, he didn't come out. What happened to our saying we wouldn't be home until after 2?? The scheduler was very apologetic and gave us a $25 discount on service and rescheduled for that morning 8-12. The plumbers came out as scheduled but when they saw the needed parts said they didn't carry such things on the truck. Since the parts were part of the body of the faucet they said we'd have to buy a whole new faucet - exactly what we were trying to avoid. Why were we originally told they carried the parts when they don't? It leaves you feeling like it was a bait and switch tactic. In the end we had no other choice than to go with a new faucet to get our sink back. They also took the old faucet back with them. There were perfectly good parts still attached to the old faucet and we want it back. Len is aware of this and I hope they honor our request.

They said they needed to replace the hot water heater. I wanted more information about what kind of water heater they were going to install. The company told me they only use 1 type of water heater. It was installed without me knowing anything about the kind of water heater. I had to do my own research to figure out what kind of water heater was installed. Once everything was installed I received a letter in the mail in February saying I needed someone to come inspect the installation within 2 weeks of it being installed. I did not recieved this information until 3 months later. The number on the permits they sent me in the mail had the wrong permit numbers. From there, I contact the company to get the correct permit numbers and to get the final bill to see what they charged me for. I was informed by WSSC I was charged for 2 permits, one for myself and one for someone else that was not me. I e-mailed Led The Plumber and they sent me the correct permit to have it inspected. I had my inspection today, 3/31/15. The inspection was quick and needed to be done, but it was a big inconvenience to get to that point.

They do fine work. We like their company and they are very responsive. They do the work professionally and timely. They came in an knew exactly what needed to done any proceeded to do it but the plumber had the parts on board so he did not have to leave and come back and he figured out what was wrong with the toilet. It was running and needed to have a new part put in it and so he fixed it. He is a very cordial person and we have used them before. We like the fact that we call him and usually they are here as advertised the same day. I would recommend them for their quality of the work and secondly that the same day that you asked them to because usually plumbing problems are problems that you cant have it wait. They would be my first call if I had a plumbing problem.

The second job was to remedy the 1st job, as there was a leaking hot water line that they had replaced new, and they had to return the next day to replace it. I don't feel it was their fault, as it was a defective new supply line that failed. There was several things that were not addressed on the first trip, but were addressed on the second trip to replace the leaking supply line. I felt it was because they are a large company, and that they were slammed that day. I felt a little uncomfortable when I had the leak, as I couldn't shut off the hot water valve, it had rusted open, and had to cut off the main to all the water supply lines until morning. But they did respond the next day and replaced the defective hot water valve. The 3rd day they replaced an old water main valve with a modern updated (code) lever type. They clean up after themselves, and are very courteous while working. Their knowledge is remarkable. Their communications (call takers) are professional, but they need to communicate with each other, as I had two different call takers in their office phone me about their arrival time. I explained that one call taker had already phoned me as to the arrival time. I also had a chance to see their trucks inside and outside, and they were very neat and clean. To me, that says they are neat and professional.
