The keys to my front door began sticking and needed to be checked. I selected Kensington-Wheaton Lock & Security Inc because of the outstanding reviews and I was not disappointed. Tom, the owner set up an appointment a few days after my call. It wasn't an emergency so the timing was fine with me. Tom said he would call an hour before the appointment, and he did. So, a gold star right out of the gate for being reliable. Of course, Tom arrived on time. And instead of just lubricating the locks, as I expected, he disassembled and removed them from the door, inspected and cleaned them first. They were filled with dirt and debris which is what was causing the trouble. So just lubricating them would not have fixed the problem. Tom did a thorough job which took about an hour. After that the locks worked smoothly again - like new. I highly recommend this company if you are having any kind of problem with locks. I think the cost is reasonable and the service is first-rate. Something I did not know: Tom said locks require periodic maintenance to keep them working properly.

I have only good things to say, from start to finish. Tom returned my initial call right away to set up the appointment. As he said he would, he called me 1 hour before the appointment to make sure I was still available. He was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Tom found a couple of things that had been installed improperly when the door was originally installed by the previous owners, and he told me that replacing the doorknob would be less expensive than repairing the existing one. He was very mindful of keeping the repairs to within one hour so that I didn't have to pay extra labor costs. Thank you, Tom! It was so nice to meet a service provider who takes pride in his work and cares about his customers!

Tom arrived on time and quickly got to work. He was courteous and acted professionally. He removed and disassembled the faulty lock, identified the cause of the problem and repaired and replaced the lock in a short amount of time. While he was reinstalling the lock, he provided excellent advice for maintaining all the locks in the house. He also informed us of different options available to improve the security and safety of home access points. If we need a locksmith again, we'll call Tom.

Our deadbolt no longer unlocked from the outside. I explained the problem and sent a photo of the lock to Tom. He knew what the problem was, even before arriving. Tom called an hour before the appointment time to let me know he would be here. He was extremely courteous, explained what was wrong with the lock, and fixed the existing lock in under 30 minutes. He also showed me how to lubricate the lock (which I didn't even know I was supposed to do). So nice to meet someone honest, friendly and professional. We will definitely use Tom's company again.

I have an old lock on one door that is worn and Tom knew exactly what to do - he worked with various bits an pieces until he had a combination that worked and does like a charm. He also advised me on what I need to do when the lock eventually wears out. on the other door he not only fixed it but told me how I could fix it if the knob every comes off again since it is a relatively simple procedure. Tom provided great service and is a very knowledgeable professional.

This was our second time calling Tom and our experience was just as good as the first time. He is very professional - came on time. We have an old house with old locks so it was a tricky job to save the door and make a lock work. He had to find parts to modify to make them work with the historic lock and it works perfectly now. Wish we'd called sooner!

Tom was very professional and knowledgable. We are very pleased with his work and we would call him again in the future. Scheduling of the service call was extremely prompt. Communications were very clear and easy. As promised, Tom called an hour ahead to confirm the appointment and then arrived even a few minutes early. After he arrived we reviewed the overall work to be completed for each door and he quickly got to work. Tom was able to answer all of my questions and offer some suggestions and alternatives to some options we were considering for this job. Along the way he pointed out the pros and cons of both the internal mechanisms and functionality of existing hardware and offer suggestions regarding future projects we are considering. Tom was fully prepared with all of the parts, locks and tools needed for the job, and used high quality replacement tumblers and other materials. Tom also provided tips for simple maintenance (and ways to remember to do it) to ensure the mechanisms always turn easily and smoothly. As a bonus, Tom is a very interesting and intelligent person and it was a pleasure to chat with him as he completed the work.

I scheduled an appointment by phone to replace a broken deadbolt lock. He arrived on time and was done in about 15 minutes. Great job and very professional. I plan to use Kensington-Wheaton Lock & Security again in the future.

Tom was terrific! He was early to the appointment and provided me with great service. Tom re-keyed and replaced two locks within an hour. I would absolutely contact him again if needed.

Went very well. He called 30 minutes before arrival to let me know he was on his way. Arrived a little early. Went right to work rekeying the new doorknob lock. Then he told me the deadbolt I had didn't meet code, it's a fire hazard because it's keyed on both sides which is why I rarely use it. He really wasn't trying to sell me a new lock but he made sense so I had him replace the deadbolt and key it to the same key as the doorknob lock.

Tom was easy to schedule a day and time with. He has been in the business a long time and has set times that take into account how long a job may take. One thing he was firm about was coming when no other contractor was there so he wouldn't risk getting a nail or screw in his tires. He has gotten flat tires before and I understand/respect his caution to avoid this in the future. Tom arrived on the day and time we agreed. He had called me before arrival as he thought he would be just a little bit late and ended up right on time anyway. Tom is very contentious and professional. He really knows his locks and didn't mind answering my questions as I am a curious person and like to know how things work. He enjoys chatting while working (when he is not drilling, etc.) and I found his stories interesting. I had one door that didn't have a dead bolt and he was able to install one. I was really glad he was able to re-align the door that had a problem locking. things didn't line up and I really had a tough time turning the bolt. I think it's above and beyond a typical locksmith task to try to re-align the door keeper (that's what he called it) so the lock could turn. This was even after I had asked the seller to fix it as it was something that came up in the home inspection. Tom was able to fix it easily and quickly. I was very happy to have all the doors keyed to the same key. They had previously been on 3 different locks. Tom was terrific!

Mr. Lucas ran to the supplier for deadbolts that matched my existing hardware, He carefully installed four deadbolts and re-keyed all six cylinders. While working he gave me several useful tips for maintaining my locks. Mr. Lucas finished the job by neatly cleaning up the debris.

He called to confirm the appointment about an hour in advance and then was even early! He was very professional, courteous, and explained my options when certain locks had issues when being re-keyed. Locks work great now and I will call him again in the future when I need a locksmith.

It was fine. Tom explained everything as he did it, and aside from the lock noted a problem with the door insulation that we hadn't been aware of. He worked quickly, was easy to chat with, and was very professional. I would definitely use him again.
