Description of Work: They replaced the hot water heater and unclogged a stubborn drain; it was done well and efficiently, though not cheaply.

Description of Work: They came out to do a toilet tune-up which I had purchased a Big Deal for. The service was fine but it did not really fix the problem.

Description of Work: I called this company and asked about the service. The woman on the phone really was not friendly to me when I asked about the service so I decided to just let my $99 go. Wasn't worth dealing with people that are unprofessional. Oh, I will not fall for these "specials" again as I believe they are for desperate companies.

Description of Work: Bought the ?? point check up for two toilets. Staff member arrived, flushed each and said they were fine. Not interested in my concerns about water pressure and capacitiy to clear feces in a single flush. Wanted to clean inside of one tank with yellow build up. . Was told that he couldn't turn off the water flow because it would cut off water for complete tier in my condo.... Told him that I have turrned the water supply spigot off and on again in the past - without damage. . Reply: On-off value was likely to leak if he closed the value - triggering costly repair. He didn't want to do the work. I just wanted him out. An expensive case of disinterested provider. I am not renewing Angie's list.

Description of Work: I used JH Peterson Plumbing yesterday and I just wanted to give them a very good report for what they did for me. I'm in Bethesda, MD and I will probably use them again.

Description of Work: Really liked this company. Showed up on time, very competent and did the work in a short period of time. Did more work than I had thought without charging me extra. Its obvious that this company really is customer service oriented and looking to build a business. I would highly recommend them, what a refreshing change to deal with an honest company for a change. They charge by the job rather than by the hour. For any new toilet install, I would buy the toilet first (get a good one but not too expensive) and then find out how much they charge to install.

Description of Work: After having had a negative experience with an individual from this company during a service call, I received an unprompted, concerned call from the company office. The person I spoke to was very professional and helpful in trying to determine the nature of my compaint and what she could do to mitigate the situation. She offered very helpful suggestions and evidenced great caring about both the reputation of the company and my satisfaction. Thanks to her interest, I would recommend this company again.

Description of Work: Plumber came to replace stem on leaky Moen faucet. I had already bought the part. After using my own tools, he jammed in the stem by hammering it in when it didn't fit , then when it leaked worse than before, told me the entire faucet needed to be replaced. I wanted him to remove the new part I had bought so I could at least get my money back for that, but he just said, "now you saw how to do it, do it yourself." Of course I understand that a service call must be paid for, but it is frustrating to be treated like an idiot and then pay $99 for the privilege.

Description of Work: UPDATE: I'm re-assessing my report below and have updated my review. A year later and JH Peterson was right. We continued to have problems with our system...the other service company turned out to be unreliable, and I wish I had just listened to Brian, JH Peterson's technician to begin with. The ignition system continually fails, and we've been successful in some how getting it to start, but it needs to be replaced. I took the short term option last year, but would have been better off having it replaced as they recommended. I'll also note that they could not have been more professional and courteous. Our heat (gas fired boiler) stopped working early on a Monday morning (2 am). We called everyone starting at 7 am. JH Peterson was the first to be able to come out immediately. The technician was very polite and professional. He spent time looking at our Boiler. He couldn't get it to start. He eventually got the pilot ignitor to spark by doing some rewiring, but the Boiler wouldn't fire. He said it would cost $1500 for a new gas valve controller...and if we wanted a new boiler $6500 which he recommended. We brought in another company the next day for a second opinion. The new company got the Boiler to work by thoroughly cleaning it and doing some additional wiring getting us heat immediatley during this cold spell. The new guy also recommended a new boiler ($6000) because he said the ignitor and controller will probably fail and since the system is old (1983) other things will fail eventually as well. Bascially JH Peterson couldn't get the Boiler to work and the other guy did. That being said, JH Peterson spent a good deal of time (hours) working on the Boiler and I believe they were being honest and maybe just didn't have the new guys nack.

Description of Work: I live on a block w/2 Chinese carryouts and I had rats who got into the walls of my house and not only ate the cords on my refrigerator and mixer but the rubber flange on the pipe that transported the water from my first floor to the street so part of the water was going into the walls. JH Peterson company had a plumber here in the morning the next working day after I called them. Brian (the plumber) cut a hole in the ceiling of the basement - found the problem..located a metal flange to replace the eaten rubber one and returned the a couple of days later and fixed it.. Moreover, they volunteered to give me the name of a mold eradicator when I voice fears of such. Wow. I am so happy with their prompt, pleasant, and competent service.
