After a call to Peterson, a workman came to our home later that day and provided an estimate of $2,728.95. The quote was more than a $1,000.00 more than the quote I accepted from Akers & Sons. Both the person answering the phone and who came to the house were very polite and professional.

It was excellent. They were prompt when providing the estimate. They scheduled the work within a week of the estimate and were finished in one day. (That means they demoed our old nasty concrete laundry sink and installed a new one and installed a new water heater in ONE day!) They explained everything they did and then cleaned up very well when they were done. I think they left our utility room cleaner than they found it.

I called JH Peterson to assess my boiler system because I was not getting heat in several radiators. The scheduler was very friendly on the phone, and scheduled my appointment within 2 days of my call. Prior to the visit, I received both an email with the plumber/technician's picture. The technician arrived within the 2 hour window, and prior to his arrival the office staff called to let me know he was on his way. The technician was friendly and courteous. He examined the boiler, and determined that the circulating pump had "seized" and had to be replaced. He gave me an estimate of about $1,000 to drain the boiler system and replace the circulating pump. He also encouraged me as an alternative to replace my old boiler with a more energy efficient one. The problem came because the technician's assessment of the problem turned out to be incorrect. The following day, I had a different heating/cooling company come in for a second opinion. With a little tinkering, the second company had my circulating pump working within about 15 minutes (the problem turned out to be a stuck relay in the aquastat - the pump was working fine). If I had proceeded with the JH Peterson estimate, I would have spent $1000 to replace a working circulating pump, without addressing the underlying electrical problem. I wish I did not have to write a negative review, because everyone I dealt with was very pleasant and professional, and no one get things right 100% of the time. However, in this case, the fact remains that my second opinion saved me $1,000 of unnecessary work.

They gave us a very good price. They were competent and easy to work with. There was some communication issues.

they were right on time, very professional and considerate of the space, cleaned up well afterwards.

I originally stuck with them, because they knew the house and they were able to work on older systems. They were able to keep our old system working for far longer than it should have. Now that I have the new system I trust their judgement. I like that they are honest and they do not sugar coat the bad news. They do good work. When they installed the new system they removed everything from the old system and installed all of the parts for the new system. There were a few issues after the installation and they were very quick to respond. I do not have a lot of comparative experience, however I think that their prices are fair. I have always been impressed that the owner himself was willing to come out for assessments and other small things.

They did a great job and treated my house like a home. They cleaned up well and conducted themselves in a very professional manner. I was happy with the services, but would probably do a price comparison before using them again in the future.

They had good communication and are one of the best plumbers I have come across. They emailed me the day before to let me know the name of the technician. They called me and informed that he was on his way and later that he was stuck in traffic. The technician was very focused on cleanliness. The people on the phone in their head quarters knew their stuff. I would use them again in future.

The plumber was prompt and gave me an estimate which was accurate to complete the work. He told me it would take about an hour and he was correct. The plumber was friendly and courteous and knew what he was doing.

We received a huge water bill due to a leak from the main water line underground. The company responded very quickly to our urgent request and came out to give us an estimate on the same day. They informed us of the rules to comply with the water and gas company and they worked directly with them to obtain a permit. We had a few estimates but we decided to work with them based on the estimate, responsiveness and service provided on the phone. They answered all my questions in a professional manner and are very customer oriented. Work: the team came out and dug the ground, installed the water line, tested to make sure that the water line was working and cleaned up. They worked from 7am to 3pm. I am very pleased with the quality of work and services provided. Note for future customers: dispatch fee needed - $59

They called back and set up an appointment for an estimate right away and worked around my schedule. The estimate was excellent and they worked with me about gettting to the house (it is a rental property). They came by my house to pick up the key and then went to where the work was being done. One note is that there price for a hot water heater was $1500, where I could pick one up from Lowes for about $300 (which I did).

I called to report a leak and made an appointment to have a plumber come and repair it. The next day they called to say that they had emergencies come up and wanted to reschedule. By that time, the leak was coming through a ceiling, so I had an emergency and they agreed to come at the scheduled time. Approximately 1 1/2 hours before the scheduled arrival time, they called and said that one of their plumbers had an accident and they wouldn't be able to make it: could I reschedule? I decided that if they couldn't remember that I had an emergency and didn't have anyone in reserve that they could call, that this was not the plumber for me.

TUB RUNNING SLOW AND TOILET NOT FLUSHING. CALLED J.H. PETERSON PLUMBING AND THEY CAME OUT THE SAME AFTERNOON AND TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM.

The workers at JH were on time and they solved the problem. They gave quality service and they were responsive. I am pleased with them.

Excellent. I will keep this brief because I already wrote a long, glowing review only to find that I must have done something wrong because the review did not submit properly. In brief, I had contact with everyone from Mr. Peterson; to Anne, the office manager, to Ray, the service technician. To the one- every person who I spoke with delivered on what they said they would when they said they would do it. They have already completed the work and I still have some of the other plumbers I called trying to set up appointments. From a service and professionalism standpoint, I have rarely had a better experience. I say this also judging them not as contractors, who normally would get graded on somewhat of a curve because of their notoriously poor service, but on the same scale I would reserve for fine restaurants, hotels, etc. These guys are the Four Seasons of contracting. That being said, they do not come without a price. Their prices are on the hirer end of the spectrum too. At the end of the day, I needed the work done quickly, I needed someone prompt and reliable so that I did not need to take off a bunch of work for the work to get done. These guys delivered.

The office team were very prompt about scheduling an appointment and working with our hectic schedules. The technician arrived when promised, quickly assessed the job and gave an estimate that was what we ended up paying. Overall, the price was a bit more than expected, but felt we paid a premium for premium service.

I called J H Peterson and they had a plumber at my house an hour later. The plumber was friendly and professional. The price seemed high, but the work was done quickly and I was given an "Angies List" discount. Would definitely recommend.

Outstanding work performed by this technician (Ray D.) He taught me quite a bit about commodes and their problems. He also discussed the different brands of commodes on the market: Advantages and disadvantages of each model. This is an excellent company and I recommend them very highly! I first heard about this company when I noticed one of their immaculate trucks driving down Route 270 at 7:30 AM in the morning: A very clean and neat truck!

I was in a bind and needed the work on the hose bib done quickly, and they were out the day after I called. Plumber arrived on time and was very courteous, friendly, and professional. The price to fix the faucet and toilet was more than the price to replace the hose bib, however, and I now regret paying to fix them. After the the plumber explained what he did to fix the toilet and faucet I was left with the impression that I paid a lot for 2 new washers. On the other hand, I do think that the price paid to replace the hose bib was completely reasonable.

Overall, I was very pleased with the customer service (both the receptionist and the technician were honest, professional and friendly), but I don't feel that the price was commensurate with the work performed. We are preparing our house for renters and since our water is hard, the drains tend to get clogged easily, so I called to get our sink and shower drain snaked. Because he was not able to get the sink cover off, he did not snake the sink. He did plunge the sink at no charge and got it to drain better. He snaked the shower, which does drain better, but I was hoping that he would have removed more of the hardwater build-up. I think for $240 he should have spent more time removing more build up so that I will not have to get the drain resnaked for awhile. There are products at Home Depot that would have allowed me to do this job myself, which is really just scrape or grind away the hard water build up right on the top section of the drain. I would much rather spend that $150 and be able to take care of this problem myself going forward. I'm not sure whether this is what most plumbers charge or whether this company charges on the higher end. I'm just saying that based on all of my other home improvement jobs that either this company is over charging or this industry overcharges in general. Moreover, the $69 fee was only waived if the work was performed. This is the first time I've seen such a high fee just to give an estimate. I of course had the work done, and the fee was waived. Can you imagine paying $309 for ten minutes of work? I think that since my drain was just a simple case of a little hard water build-up and I informed them of this beforehand, that it should not have been so high. Other home improvement people charge by the hour for small jobs. Why don't plumbers? While I will not use this company again for simple jobs (I will either figure out how to do it myself or find someone cheaper) I would consider them for a bigger job. However, I would of course get estimates from several companies first. Just because they have nice ratings on Angie's list doesn't mean you will get the job done for the right price. Again, the customer service was excellent.

Plumber arrived in promised time window. After assessing what had to be done, he got busy, did the work, wrote up the bill and left. Overall, the job took about 2 hours.

We sent an email requesting an estimate. They contacted us very quickly to inform us that they would need to come to the property and went into detail of charges for this service. Explained that it was not possible to quote over the phone. Appointment was arranged for the following morning. The plumber was running late, but called to let me know so was very happy not to just be sitting around. Once he arrived I showed him the problem and additional work that we would like to be done in the near future including a new sink in the upstairs bathroom, replace of stopcock on main pipe. We then went around the house and he gave me advice on the boiler (ours is really old), water heater plus the work that would need to be done to install a disposal. At no point did I feel like I was be pressured into getting work done that we didn't need and was happy to be getting an idea of what we need to start saving for. When work started on unblocking the pipe, he had his own drop cloths and did his best not to make a mess. He had to return to the shop for some replacement parts for the pipes, but when he returned everything was ready to be installed. The block was worse than first thought and took 3 attempts to clear. We were even given a eco-friendly drain cleaner to help keep the pipes clear. The quote that was given was a fixed quote which I was pretty happy with especially when it took much longer to clear the pipe than expected and because we used Angie's List, there was no call-out fee. I would recommend JH Peterson and will be returning to them when it is time for more work to be done.

Discussed installing an energy efficient water heater with Angie over the phone. She was knowledgable and helped do a lot of leg work on options. We decided to go with a tankless unit and with a vendor who had more experience in that area. Would consider hiring JH Peterson for other plumbing projects in the future.

The repair man was punctual, polite and quickly completed the job. They were able to send someone quickly. I thought the price was a little high, but given the desperation of our situation I was more than pleased with the end result. The person I spoke to on the phone was also extremely helpful and polite.

They were terrific. I had leaking above and below my water heater. They called me back on a Sunday very quickly and scheduled the plumber to come the next morning at 7. They were very prompt and friendly and professional and they even brought their own little slippers so they wouldn't track dirt on my floors. The main plumber - Brian ended up spending the day working here and was so incredibly helpful and patient as I wanted to learn about what he was doing. At the end of the day, another plumber (maybe the supervisor?) came to check the work and also checked out other unrelated things in my basement to make sure everything was ok. Brian then snaked my sink for free even though he had already been at the house for over 8 hours. He also cleaned up very well. They are a great company even though the price was steep. I don't know enough about plumbing to know if it was reasonable or not.
