Mr. Lee was very prompt and patient in examining the property and proposing a plan for building a screened-in porch (which was needed to replace an old deck that had been damaged by a recent storm). The company was definitely the most expensive of the ones we considered, and though we weren't given much bargaining room in the price, Mr. Lee did find some ways to make the job a little more affordable for us. The crew came fairly promptly and worked throughout the cold weather in a prompt but careful fashion. The deck construction appears to be quite solid, and there are several nice touches to the deck as well (screen in the floor to keep out bugs, nicely-sanded edges). The crew was also responsive to suggestions and requests. For instance, when I asked that the area underneath the deck be accessible, they added a removable panel (with latch). Though the price was high, it (so far) appears to have been worth every penny. We would definitely go with Home Run Remodelers again if the occasion arose.
Description of Work: Built a screened-in covered porch with ceiling fan and two skylights on the side of our house.

I met with them due to their ratings on Angie's List. I felt the representative was intentionally deceptive to inflate his bid amount. He shared things with me that could not be confirmed with his office. He suggested materials that are not rated for outdoor use. All in all, I thought the guy was a snake of a salesman.

Response from Home Run Remodelers
I introduced to him a new product (pressure treated LVL) to design his deck so that we can eliminate the center post that would have been in front of the basement window. I thought we had a good and open communication via email after sending and receiving multiple emails. All of a sudden he stopped emailing and posted this comment. The price of the project never changed. I really don't know why he felt I was trying to mislead him. My design and price never changed and we did perform this perform this project.

Sunroom construction preliminary design and estimate was performed quickly, professionally, and resulted in multiple scenarios for our project at a very good price. We enjoyed meeting with the representative and would have hired him if we had chosen to go with that approach. We selected another contractor from Angie's List to do an all-window sunroom construction, but had a great experience with Home Run Remodelers and would recommend them to friends.

The estimate was for $5000. I thought Mr. Lee was very professional. We did not go with them, but I wish we had. I can't really vouch for their work because we had not used them, but had used another company. I would surely include them in our list of people to talk to.

The project went extremely well. HRR had to work around three other contractors involved in the project -- the company redoing the driveway, the plumber putting in a new water service (due to the regrading required), and the landscaper building a retaining wall. Charles was very flexible and cooperative, and his team of workers were neat, efficient, and extremely professional. They worked around our internal constraints (not wanting to change a decorated ceiling in the basement where holes had to be drilled for the electrical cabling), the constraints of spotty weather, and the challenges of putting up with unexpected delays from the other contractors. Charles was always available, always congenial, and always helpful. He was a pleasure to work with. We are delighted with the result. The house looks much more interesting (as you can see from the before and after picture), and the porch will be fun to use once the weather gets warm. This was a very good experience and has alleviated a lot of my fear of remodeling. I plan to do a lot more work with HRR in the future.
Description of Work: For many years we had been wanting to add a front porch to our plain little brick box. We finally took the plunge after reading the strong positive reports on Home Run Remodelers. We were a bit concerned as the front door was not at ground level and there was a garage entering at grade. Charles Lee came out and worked with us to design something really exciting. He created a design for a porch that is elevated above the garage. It is 8 feet wide and 32 feet long, extending on one side of a central door but not on the other (so as not to block the sunlight into our living room) and has new wide steps and a rail leading downward. The work involved installing braces through the front wall of the house, and running electricity lines from the opposite side of the house.

I contacted several contractors, and Charles Lee of Home Run was one of the few, and certainly the best, to respond. Every aspect of the process was a delight, and I trust him totally. The problem was that the deck had pulled away from the house, and was causing water to leak into the basement. He rapidly assessed the problem, gave me a fair estimate, and rebuilt the upper level of a designer deck better than it was built originally, and in just one day. He also provided updates as he discovered more problems. Because of the water damage, the sill plate holding up the first floor was rotting and also had to be replaced. He provided a reasonable estimate for that, too, and did the work quickly, and took care of any cosmetic finishing that needed to be done. Mr. Lee is a consummate professional and an expert in residential construction.
Description of Work: Replace the upper level of a designer deck that had been attached to the house incorrectly and was pulling away form the house, and sinking, causing breaks in the siding, and introducing water inside the wall, which resulted in damage to the sill plate holding up the first floor of the house. He provided pictures, and I saw what he removed; it was bad!

Project went very quickly. Crew was professional and the work was very detailed. Clean up very quick after each day. Great care spent in discussing precisely what we wanted and what it would look like. Workmanship exceeded expectations. Neighbors have commented on how nice the porch and stairs look and what a good job Homerun Remodelers did.

We had had a problem with deteriorating plywood subfloor in our screened porch and had the plywood replaced and new vinyl floor installed 5 years ago. But the plywood was rotting again so I checked Angie's List for a good contractor. Home Run Remodelers stood out as offering the type of work we needed, plus excellent ratings from customers. Mr. Lee from Home Run Remodelers returned my call promptly, came to inspect the porch. He said that the plywood used was not exterior grade plywood and that was part of the problem, but also that vinyl was probably not the best choice for the area. He noted that the concrete pad beneath the floor was wet and recommended that we check our roof and gutters. He recommended using the Azek decking board since it is designed for exterior use. There was a slight delay in starting the job due to weather conditions affecting their other jobs, but this was no problem for us. The entire job was completed in one long day and the porch looks beautiful!
Description of Work: On a large screened porch, they removed vinyl flooring and plywood subfloor, installed cross bracing between floor joists, and installed Azek tongue and groove deck floor. They also installed 2 new aluminum porch doors and installed decking planks on two platforms outside the doors. They hauled away all old materials, cleaned up entire porch area.

when Steve came over to look over the project he was very professional an personable.. We talk about what i needed and look at what i wanted he then gave me a price and time line of the work. We set up a three stage payments that worked with my budget. The crew started at 7:00am on the dot worked until 5 or 6 . They were clean, polite and professional. I have to stay this job went very well ,so good in fact i am going to let them install siding on my house this spring KGH
Description of Work: Steve's crew removed both front and back porch in a day and half. They started the jobs and in seven days i had two brand new porches. They hauled away all the debris and cleaned all work spaces. the frame for both porches are wood then they wrapped them in vinyl in fact all rails and crown molding, side pieces are vinyl and PVC. The floors and steps were made of Azek PVC T&G decking board. They did installed roofs with gutters and downspouts that a roofing company would be jealous of !

I cannot say enough good things about Charles and his team. If I could give him a higher grade than "A," I definitely would. Charles arrived promptly to estimate our job and continually provided multiple options at multiple price points to help us stay within our limited budget. His estimate (which included $209 in county permit fees and a $400 Angie's List discount) came in extremely comparable to other Angie's List companies who quoted the same job, and we chose Charles mainly for this and for his professionalism. When we decided to go ahead with the job, Charles' team arrived on time and completed the job professionally well ahead of schedule (which was already tight, due to an insurance safety compliance deadline). There were several guys working on our deck, and they worked hard from sun up to sun down taking very few breaks. In addition, there was always a "foreman" on site, and someone checked in with me multiple times throughout the day to let me know what the status was and to answer any questions. When the job was completed, the crew cleaned up like they said they would and left us with a completely professional and perfect deck that we've gotten many compliments on. We are always wary to hire home improvement contractors because, even after using Angie's List, something always seems to go wrong during a job, and there is always conflict. This was the first time ever that this didn't happen! Charles and his team did what they said they would and did it extremely well. Here is an example of Charles' excellent customer service: One night in to the construction of the deck, after the crew left, we had the heaviest rain of the season, and water began pouring in to our basement. Because we had never had water in our basement before (we had just moved in 2 months prior) and because the deck was being constructed over the basement entrance, I assumed it must have been from something the crew did. My husband was out of the country, and I was beside myself, not knowing what to do. I frantically called Charles and left a voicemail for him at 11 pm. He arrived at my doorstep early the next morning and tried to troubleshoot the problem. He caulked one area that he thought might be responsible, but he wasn't sure since it was no longer raining and the water had dried up. The next night, there was another heavy rain, and again, water came in the basement. I called Charles at 8 pm, and this time he answered. Both he and his brother came out to my property immediately and spent well over an hour, in the dark, in the rain with flashlights investigating the problem. They determined that the leak was not due to anything they did with the deck but rather was caused by a faulty storm door allowing water to leak through the threshold of the door upstairs into the basement. They caulked the threshold for me and returned the next day and caulked some other areas of the house -- even though the leak had nothing to do with them! Of course, I felt dumb for bothering them and for assuming it had to do with the deck, but Charles and his brother were so gracious and didn't make me feel bad or like some "dumb lady" for calling them after hours over something that had nothing to do with them. Overall, a completely fantastic experience, and we definitely plan to use them again for other home improvement needs.
Description of Work: Demoed a portion of an existing concrete landing and staircase and installed a 6'x11' deck with lattice to cover the remaining stairs over it. Installed a basement staircase railing to satisfy insurance safety requirements. All work completed to county permit's standards.

They were excellent. The owner came to give the quote, and he was very punctual. He was very careful and detailed. He brought photographs of work they had done in other homes. He was very straightforward about what were the potential areas where the project might go out of scope. He also so gave me a warning that some things might be more expensive. The builders who came did a great job. They cleaned up everything well. They were nice people. I had a very good experience with them.

The owner was wonderful and worked with us about how we would like our deck to be. He came out to help us with that and gave some suggestions. He gave a visual impression of that which was more than anyone else had done. He was right in the ballpark of the other quotes that we had got. We hired them. They came exactly when they said they would. They ran into some difficulties because of the rain, but they kept us updated. We were overall pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the company.

I required a set of architectural drawings to accompany a permit application on an existing deck to satisfy county requirements. Initially, I was impressed with Charles Lee's responsiveness, coming by for an estimate at the time agreed upon. During the estimate, he was very straight forward and provided his assessment of the upper deck as well as an estimate of the cost/time for the necessary drawings. This estimate was $500 and he anticipated having the drawings mailed to me within the week from the estimate appointment. Unfortunately, the estimate was in March and I finally received the drawings in May, after multiple requests via both email and phone to inquire on the status. I understand it was a busy time, but after several requests, it was quite frustrating, as I needed the drawings in order to take the next steps with the county for the permit application. Ultimately, I did receive the drawings and they met the needs of the county for the permit application.

Was professional and responsive; Very reasonably priced -- his initial estimate was at the same price at which I was negotiating others down too; Kept to the estimate even though there was slightly more work due to an issue that arose during the installation; Kept a clean (as possible) workplace, started when they said they would, and worked until they were done (ahead of schedule). Charles is a professional and seems to know what he is doing. He gave me best and worst case scenarios as the extent of my balcony problem was not immediately obvious until taking it apart (which he did not do for the estimate of course). I knew I had rotting joists that needed new support, and the bottom and top planks would need complete replacing. Even in the best case scenario Charles offered a Cadillac solution when I was looking for something more economical, particularly since this is a decorative balcony (not something we use, walk or sit on). I ultimately selected another contractor that was at least 75% less expensive. I would consider Home Run for a high-end remodel.

Mr. Lee showed up promptly for the estimate and walked through the details of what we wanted with my wife. He said he would have an estimate for us by the following week. A month has passed, and despite numerous voicemails left, followed up by an email, I haven't heard anything back from Mr. Lee at all. I'm very disappointed that he would take the time to come out and do an evaluation, but not follow up with an estimate. If he chooses to no-bid the job, that is fine in my mind - but not calling or emailing back is unacceptable.

It was great to have a fully professional and trustworthy company working on the house.
Description of Work: Mr Lee saved my house. In an earlier posting I described a temporary wall that he had built in my den to support the ceiling. Because of heavy snow buildup on the roof it had begun to collapse as a result of termite damage in that area. Initially we hoped the damage would be confined to just that one room. Unfortunately the damage was much more extensive. By the time the work was completed he had replaced major support beams on three different levels of the house. Large sections of several walls were replaced along with portions of the exterior siding. During the process his crew erected plastic barriers in different parts of the house to control dust and each day they cleaned and vacuumed all of the areas in which they worked. We were able to live in the house during the more than three weeks of work. They put up drywall, painted, laid tile, and did electrical work. When necessary they found paint that matched the older colors. We had placed a claim to cover this damage with Terminix. During the project Mr. Lee worked with us and with Terminix to explain all of the work that needed to be done to restore the integrity of the house. Ultimately Terminix paid the full bill which was a testimony to his careful work and fair pricing.

The owner, Charles Lee, spent a lot of time working with us to determine a suitable approach -- both in terms of design and of cost. They started the job promptly and finished within the agreed timeframe -- in spite of the record rains. The crew was professional and responsive to our questions. Mr. Charles Lee came out when he said he would and professionally gave me an estimate on the cost of the job. I asked for an Angies discount and he took $400 off the price. I sent a deposit and he delivered the materials and a few days later Charles and his crew worked very hard to complete the task in one day. They did a wonderful job cutting the pieces to fit (I have some columns in the middle of my deck and the final fit of the installed decking material was almost furniture like. The owner of the company , Charles Lee is a true professional. So are all of his people! He met with me, looked over the job and promised to have an estimate to me via e-mail within 3 or 4 days. He sent me the e-mail with a sketch of how the job would look once finished. He requested to meet with me to go over the job, which he did and gave me an estimated time of completion. Once he started, he was here every day except Sunday, and when his crew left at the end of the day, the work site was left in a very neat and clean state! He finished on the date that he estimated and met with me to go over any concerns that I had. Something as small as a slight wobble in the fan was corrected immediately. His price stayed the same throughout the job! I truly enjoyed working with him and would highly recommend him!
