This was the best experience we've ever had with a contractor and team. Charles Lee came out and gave us an estimate that was $10K less than the closest competitor. Because the company had great ratings on Angie's List we decided that they were the right folks for the job and have not regretted it! From the plans and recommendations to the finishing touches, eveything went smoothly and efficiently. Andrew, Charles' brother-in-law, and Miguel led a fantastic team who were thoroughly professional and unbelievable at attention to detail. Our unfinished basement is a thing of the past, and it's hard to remember how bad it looked. Now we have a new bedroom, bathroom, and utility room that are state-of-the -art and the crew installed a bar for us in the family room downstairs. You will not go wrong with these guys! If you have a renovation project, you'll be lucky if you can get Home Run Remodelers to take on the job!!
Description of Work: Renovation of the unfinished basement to add a bedroom (with built-in bookcase and cabinet), bathroom, and utility room. Renovation of an existing storage room to add walls, ceiling, shelving, flooring, and sump pump closet. Construction of a small L-shaped bar with sink and built-in refrigerator in our existing family room.

We were very pleased with the company and the staff. Charles Lee, the owner, was very pleasant and professional. He was very thorough with the estimate and was very knowledgeable. His crew, David and Marcus, did a great job. They were very conscientious about their work and made a great effort to minimize the mess. Also did a good clean-up job.
Description of Work: Had water damage in 4 areas of the house: around a skylight, and 3 areas of drywall of varying sizes, from 2 feet to 8 feet. Also needed a ceiling repaired after we had stripped the wallpaper and it needed to be scraped and skimmed before it could be painted. Home Run Remodelers repaired all the damage and painted the walls.
The rep came to look at the job, they took pictures and measurements and that's where it ended!
Description of Work: The company was called in. They came and took pictures and measurements and regardless of all my follow-ups they never came through with providing plans or pricing. My efforts continued for several months but unsuccessfully. It was too bad because talking with them I thought they were great....but lack of follow-up wasn't so great.

They did a really good job in giving us a proposal, but the only thing was that they were much more expensive than their competitors. They had a much more thoughtful proposal and I would have used them if they weren't so expensive.

Charles was very responsive, proposed very good ideas and delivered a quality proposal. We were very pleased with the level of detail he performed. We ultimately decided not to do the work as the proposals were all larger than expected and budgeted.

We were very very happy with the work Home Run Remodelers did for us. Charles Lee, the owner, was very pleasant to work with and would definitely call him again if I ever needed any more work done to my house. All his workers were very professional and they did a great job. The work they performed required a lot of detailed measurement and cutting. When I inspected all their work up close, I was amazed by the quality of their work. The week they worked on my home, Hurricane Sandy was approaching. They worked extended hours every day to make sure all the gutters and down spouts were completed and that there were no exposed areas that would be adversely effected by the storm. Even after they completed the job, I was very impressed how well they cleaned up, not leaving any mess. They used my garage to store some equipment during the job. After they were done, they left my garage spotless and much cleaner than when they started. This attention to detail really impressed me. We received several quotes from different contractors and chose Home Run Remodelers based on price and the scope of work to be performed. Everything worked out perfectly. This was the first time we used Angie's List to find a contractor and we are very glad we did. All the good reviews were right on. Its unfortunate that their only negative reviews are from people that didn't even have actual work performed.
Description of Work: The exterior of our house had a lot of wood trim that needed to be repaired and repainted. After much research and discussions with Home Run Remodelers, I decided to replace ALL the wood trim with PCV. PVC is virtually maintenance free and will last a very very long time. This included Facia, Rake, Freeze Boards, Soffit, Crown Molding, Window Trim, Garage Door Trim, and Corner Boards. We also replaced the six columns and two half columns on our front porch with Fiberglass Columns. The old wood rails were replaced with new PVC rails. We also removed and replaced all gutters and down spouts. Also replaced some siding that was previously damaged.

Due to storm damage, we needed to have a glass solarium replaced. We were considering replacing it with a glass pre-fab structure or a wooden structure. Charles returned my call shortly after I left a message for him and we scheduled a date for him to come out. He arrived promptly and we discussed the project. I indicated that we were considering a cathedral ceiling wooden structure with large windows and skylights. We needed estimates quickly because this damage occurred before we had even moved into the house and my pregnant wife was due to move in in August and deliver in September. Charles indicated that he could get the work done in that time frame if we committed soon. He promised to have the estimate to me by the beginning of the following week. I had to call Charles several times the next week to get him to return my call and provide the estimate. During that call, I asked him about the windows he proposed to use. He knew very little about them and merely directed me to the company's website. Once I received the quote, the figures seem unrealistically low. I then realized he had quoted a slant roof structure without skylights - I specifically stated that I did not want a slant roof structure. I then made repeated attempts to reach Charles to discuss. When I eventually reached him (he never returned my calls), he stated that he was going on vacation and probably couldn't have the project finished by late-September (before our baby was due), and I should try someone else. The most frequent complaint re Home Run seems to be Charles' lack of responsiveness. Those complaints are quite legitimate and Charles seems to lack professionalism and respect for others' time. I ended up having a wooden structure built by Professional Home Solutions, LLC (Brandon Molitor). It came out better than we'd hoped for.

Charles provided an estimate for our basement bathroom/laundry room renovation. We were updating the area and moving several fixtures (washing machine, toilet, bathroom sink) and making more storage/usable space. Charles had a great eye for detail and the "art of the possible." He developed several options to accomplish our goals, which allowed us to analyze the cost-benefits of each option. Ultimately we decided on a less ambitious project that I would mostly do myself. In the future when we have more money to spend on a more extensive project, Charles will be one of my first calls.

Charles from HRR was punctual, professional, and had excellent ideas for our projects. He had a great attention to detail and helped us think through some additional considerations regarding our project. In the end we went with a bid that was less expensive for the combined projects (front porch + back deck). I would welcome the opportunity to work with HRR on future projects and have a lot of confidence in Charles and the quality of the team's work.
Description of Work: Home Run Remodelers came out to bid on a new front porch + back deck project.
Home Run Remodelers did a fantastic job. The owner, Charles Lee, is a consummate professional. He returned my initial phone call within 5 minutes to set up an appointment for an estimate. Throughout all our work, he and his crews were always right on time. In addition to being professional, Charles is affable and very knowledgeable and a great leader and project manager. It was clear that his crew members respect him not only because he's the boss, but also because he really knows his stuff! He made sure our entire project ran smoothly, even when unexpected problems like pinhole leaks turned up. He actually started to repair the problem himself since he was on site at the time! Also, Charles stuck to the budget in our proposal. We knew there would be several options for carpeting in our basement and that our proposal had included an estimate for a middle of the road carpet. When Charles gave us samples to choose from, I was concerned that the one we picked would be out of our budget. Charles assured us that all of the samples he had given us were within the budget of the original proposal. He said it was important to him to make a budget and stick to it. I really appreciated this attitude and his honesty. What is more, we had several estimates for the work, and Charles' estimate was the lowest by several thousand dollars. We were a little worried that perhaps the quality of the work wouldn't be as good since his price was the cheapest, but boy were we wrong! I cannot stress enough how pleased we are with the work his company did. Not only is Charles a perfectionist, but also all of his crew members are. Our basement and family room look beautiful.
Description of Work: Home Run Remodelers finished our approximately 900 square foot basement, including drywall, insulation, electrical, and flooring. Additionally, they removed stucco from the interior walls of our first floor hallway and family room, painted the walls, and installed new crown molding. As a part of this process they discovered and repaired pinhole leaks in some of our plumbing. They also removed part of a wall between our kitchen and family room and repaired the flooring between the kitchen and family room.
After an unexpected lapse in coverage that occurred when the original project coordinator left the company, Charles Lee met with us to go over everything in detail prior to starting the job, which started only after a brief delay. The workers showed up at 8 am on the scheduled start day and worked practically non-stop for 2.5 weeks. They worked carefully, were courteous, and cleaned up after themselves. They were responsive to all of the details that we requested. There was one course correction necessary when they were hanging the cedar planks on the ceiling. We had communicated with the original project coordinator that the planks should be hung lengthwise vs. widthwise across the ceiling. When the workers started hanging them width-wise, we stopped them, realizing that this detail was not communicated after Steve left. We discussed the new plan, and the workers immediately adjusted by purchasing the additional materials that they would need to hang the ceiling the way we wanted. And it is beautiful! I believe that we paid a fair price for what we got. It was not cheap, but the work ethic of Home Run Remodelers and the quality of the job that they performed warranted the price we paid. Charles made sure that we were happy with everything before taking our final payment, having his workers come back to our home to perform a few last tweaks that we noticed needed tweaking. We are definitely pleased with the results and would happily have Charles and his crew come back to do more work for us.
Description of Work: Upgrade screened-in porch to a sunroom. Replace all interior surfaces with new materials: Replace T1-11 ceiling with cedar planks; replace T1-11 walls with new T1-11, primed and painted; replace carpet with porcelain tile; replace acrylic dome skylights with Velux glass skylights. Cut and frame new exterior entryway. Install full screen sliding glass windows; tile floor; repair siding; replace some siding; add 4 electrical outlets; hang 2 new storm doors; and install ceiling fan.
We are very pleased with Mr. Lee and the HomeRun team. We had a number of small carpentry projects. Mr. Lee responded promptly to our email inquiry. He immediately had an excellent understanding of the work needed and offered suggestions that helped us feel confident about how the process would go. We were impressed with his attention to detail and ability to anticipate work that might not be obvious - an error that can trip-up even a top rate home renovation contractor. We received a written proposal promptly via email and accepted. Mr. Lee set-up a second appointment to walk through the specifications and make sure we understood, before accepting our 25% deposit. (A deposit was necessary because the project included high cost, special order, materials. The windows were ordered promptly and when they arrived we scheduled installation. Work took about three days as scheduled even though it was over 100 degrees each day and most of the work was out of doors! What a joy to come home and see the work finished. The workmanship was very good. We think that Mr. Lee's understanding of our needs and his suggestions enhance the results. The double hung windows make our living area inviting and the look system on the basement door makes the basement exit easy to use.
Description of Work: We had several projects. Replace a 60 year old wooden exterior basement door with steel insulated door. The existing door had a full half window, was warped not insulated and not secure. Mr. Lee recommended an insulated steel door, with windows at the top and a double deadbolt lock that could be unlocked from the inside without key. Replaced two 4' x 7' fixed windows and one 4' x 3' double hung vinyl windows. New windows needed to be the exact same type as other windows installed as part of home addition completed five years earlier. In addition, interior trim was added and painted to match the trim on the other windows. Mr. Lee suggested that the fixed windows be replaced with a pair of double-hung windows - in keeping with the rest of the windows in the house. Replace wooden railings on porch and porch stairs with first quality composite.

Mark visited and reviewed the job and sumitted the estimate. We delayed the work because of travel. Overall the service was performed well, however, even though others performed the work, we did have some concerns about the quality of the job and after speaking with Mark and his review of the job, he did make the necessary corrections. We would recommend that in the future the owner, Mark, have some type of communication directly with the client, during the work, especially since those performing the work may not be able to communicate as well as he.

I emailed Home Run to get an estimate on a re-deck for my townhouse. I got an email the next morning asking for more details and then received a phone call from Steve to set up an appointment for an estimate. He was punctual and talked to my wife since I couldn't be there. She said he was very nice in person and he would call in a few days with an estimate. That was the week before Memorial Day, and I didn't hear from him the following week or after the holiday. I left two messages on Steve's cell phone and another on the main number asking for a return call. None has been received, even to decline the job or try to refer me to a friend.

We liked Charles from Home Run and he was definetely in the running to get the job, IF we had ever heard back from him with an estimate. My husband did follow through when we did not hear back from him, asking when we could get the estimate. He told him 'soon'. This is the last we ever heard from him. After a couple of weeks, we decided that we would not use him even if he did come through with an estimate because if he was this bad about getting an estimate out, wasn't sure how the schedule of the work would go. He was personable and we felt he knew what he was talking about, but the proof is in the follow-up, which there was none.
Description of Work: We contacted Home Run to get an estimate on extending and replacing the wood on an existing deck with a composite material and screening in the original part of the existing deck. Charles from Home Run set up an appointment for the estimate within days of our call. He was on time for the estimate and seemed knowledgeable and offered some ideas on the design, some of which we are using. We told him that what we did would depend on the total price, so asked for a price for extending and replaceing wood on the original deck and another price for the screen porch and a price for the whole project. This is the same request we made of all the contractors we got estimates from.

The project went extremely well. It began with a visit to learn about the job and get details to provide a written estimate. The next step was a follow-up meeting with a well done written estimate. I signed a contract and provided a deposit. Work began about 3 weeks later and was completed within 3 weeks. The crew was prompt, polite, well managed, and professional. Honestly, they delivered more than I expected.
Description of Work: I had a large and dilapidated Redwood deck which Homerun Remodelers demolished and then replaced with a screened porch and deck extension. The job entailed demolishing and disposing of the old deck, building a new foundation for the new deck, constructing a screened porch and deck extension. The project also required simple electrical wiring and the movement of a gas line.
Charles Lee and his workers (it's mostly a family business) did an outstanding job. They came in on 2 days' notice and provided, as far as I can tell, a very competitive price (our insurance adjuster was surprised it hadn't cost more). They spent one day with 2-3 workers reinforcing all 21 joists, bolting them to new 2x10s of the same length. It was a fairly difficult job due to little working room in the crawlspace, and a fair amount of pipes, etc., that they had to work around. I had priced materials at about $700 for lumber and wood. Their total price per joist averages out to about $140 per joist-- on the low end of the price range, based on my Internet research prior to hiring them. They finished late in the day and did a thorough cleanup before leaving. Thoroughly professional, cheerful, and hard-working--it was a pleasure having them do this job. Would definitely use them for future home projects.
Description of Work: Reinforced (sistered) 21 floor joists (all 2x10, 14 feet long) in a ranch home crawlspace, (less than 5' headroom), including working around various pipes and ductwork. (Joists had mold/rot damage).

They quoted me about $16000 for the deck. There was nothing that I disliked about them. I have taken the estimates and I haven’t gone through any final examination yet. I am trying to get a ballpark of what the prices are. I will then sit down, choose somebody and fine tune it. The people from Home Run Remodelers were friendly and fairly prompt. The job went very smoothly from beginning to end, even though the house was a rental and I was not very available, and most of the coordination was done by phone and e-mail (e.g., e-mailing scanned copies of contracts, pictures, etc.). Mr. Lee, the owner, was delightful to work with, and his team did top quality work.
Description of Work: The upper level of a multilevel deck was installed improperly and was pulling away from the house and sinking. The contractor removed the original upper deck, installed new posts on concrete footings, correctly installed a new ledger board to the house, and rebuilt the upper deck. He complied with the original surface design and tied it into the rest of the levels with no visual difference from the original. That cost $4142, which I thought was reasonable. However, as they were demolishing the upper deck, the contractor discovered that the sill plate and wall framing of the house were completely rotten from years of water leaking into the gap caused by the shifting deck. So he removed the exterior damaged sheathing, replaced the sill plate and lower framing while holding up that side of the house with a temporary wall, and reinforced the lower wall with additional framing. Then he did all the finish work (e.g., dappled ceiling, paneling, painting) and you could not even see that anything was done. That phase cost another $1000, which again I thought was reasonable.
We wanted to have our basement finished. We had met with about 4 contractors. We felt that Steve was, hands down, the most honest and straightforward contractor. He told us upfront that he may not be the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but he genuinely wanted us to be happy with the work and guaranteed it. We liked him from the start. We knew this was a smaller job for him to do (no new bathroom install, no major room layout change) but Steve never made us feel as though our basement was any less important than the bigger jobs he had going. He did whatever he could to work around our schedule. Steve's team always arrived when they said they would and stayed until 6 pm. They even worked on Saturday so our job was completed in about a week! We have had many compliments on the work Home Run Remodelers did for us. It has become the new hangout space for the kids! We highly recommend Steve and his team!
Description of Work: In our basement: took down existing wallboard, re-insulated, fixed problems with framing, installed new recessed lighting, created custom oversized closet, drywalled, painted and carpeted
