Description of Work: As with much of your advertisement, chimney.com used your "deal" as an opportunity to sell us something more. We bought their sales pitch and paid $2,400 to reline our chimney, instead of $99 to clean the chimney. Their salesman said we could not ever sell our house unless we relined the chimney.

Description of Work: We had this inspection (an Angie's deal) done prior to listing our house for sale. The technician arrived on time. Did the inspection very quickly. Showed us cell phone photos that could have been anybody's chimney. Told us we needed to have our double chimney relined and that the flue pipe at the gas furnace was the wrong size and needed to be replaced. Total cost around $2600. We did not have the work done. The house inspector hired by our buyer found no problems at all. I wouldn't trust these guys. No longer living in the area so would have no reason to call them again even if I thought they were honest.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for a Fireplace Tune-Up.

Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal for Chimney.com to service two gas fireplaces. They were kind enough to give me the same deal for both fireplaces, even though the deal was had a limit of one fireplace. The guy did a great job, and he answered my questions and explained everything to me in detail. He successfully turned down the gas flow on a fireplace where I had tried, and failed, numerous times to do so. | |I have only two comments. First, I was told that, in addition to the basic servicing, my fireplaces needed additional cleaning and service (at an additional charge). I have no reason to think that this work was unnecessary or not valuable, but it came across as a sales tactic -- like they were looking for ways to up-sell me. Second, the serviceman left his shoes on, which caused a lot of dirt and snow to be tracked into my house. Not a big issue, but many service people are cognizant of that and will immediately take their shoes off, especially when there's snow on the ground.

Description of Work: Nothing. I bought the big deal. A man came out. Seemed ok to me. He said that he would send an estimate. Nothing happened for more than a week. I emailed a couple of times. They apologized. Its their busy time. So, when the estimate came, I decided that this company was not trustworthy. The estimate was too high as well.

Description of Work: I bought a deal to have the chimney swept. The guy that did the work was very prompt and very nice. He also did a good job on the chimney sweep and did a very through inspection. If you only want a sweep - definitely use this company! The only issue was that they continually called me back to have work done on my chimney after telling them that I did not want it done since their estimate was quite higher than others in the area.
