Chimney.com arrived as scheduled, worked quickly and professionally. They were very helpful, writing down the dimensions for purchase of an insert. We enjoyed their visit and will be using them to install the insert.

They did a fine job of cleaning the chimney when I had them come out in the winter of 2008. Then they came when they said they would and they cleaned up the mess that chimney sweep often leave behind since it is a messy job. They were efficient and thorough. Unfortunately the way the fire place is, I am not quite sure, I think there are some mechanical issues with the way that the heating and cooling people installed a new furnace in the attic with a centered chimney that has caused the fire place not to draw properly and it is not the chimney sweeps fault. The chimney sweep did notice some of that and one of the plumbers who were working on some of the stuff noticed those problems but I do not want to put money on the chimney now. I have used Jimney's Chimney again and they are fine. Price wise they were reasonable.

I was very pleased with the job that was done at my house. I had called for an estimate for some work and this company beat the price for the work by a long shot compared to the other companies that I had come out for estimates. They finished the whole job in relatively short time period for the amount of work that was needed. The guys worked well and cleaned up after themselves when they were done. So all that was left was a chimney that looked rebuilt to new, a furnace flue that was safe and a damper that I could open and close myself really easily.

It went great. They came in and got it done and everything was good. They were very informative and the man that came knew exactly what he was doing. He made me feel very comfortable being a woman alone in the house.

I had called Chimney.com to have my chimney cleaned and inspected, and when they came out they told me that my flue tiles were cracked, as well as the crown and that I would need a new liner, damper, and crown in order to make the chimney fire-safe and usable. They gave me a fair price for the extensive work and I scheduled the job. The job was scheduled within a few days of the estimate being written and completed in less than a full days time. The technicians were polite and professional and did a very clean job with everything. I was very pleased with the work and will be calling them if I ever need anything done again and certainly for cleanings.

The professional who came to inspect our chimney was prompt, courteous and attentive. We were impressed by the service but ultimately went with another company with a slightly less expensive bid.

Our experience was very negative. I wouldn't recommend them. They just didn't want to do the work, maybe it wasn't enough work. When they came out and gave the estimate, my husband thought they were very professional. They set a date for the following week to come out and do the work and the guy said he would be there at 8.30 in the morning. I was working and when I called my husband at 10 o'clock, he said they never showed. I called the guy. First of all, he put me on hold, and then he said he had to call me back. Then he called back and told me they were not coming and that we needed to pay them $200.00 more. They said that they needed to add more to the cross of the scaffolding. When my husband said that they had come out and given a written estimate, the guy said that they were not going to come out then. They agreed to a $100.00 more than the estimate, set the date for the next day, and didn't show again. That was beginning of November. They gave us the estimate, but I don't remember what it was. After the second time they didn't show up again and they told us to call them again in the spring because they were too busy. They were reasonable within everybody else's estimate but they kept adding to it. We would never call them again.

They were rude. They made appointments and did not show up. When they came they asked us to pay more to continue with the job. I was really shocked with their behavior. They were nasty. They never got back to us and when my husband called they were rude and my husband told them that he would pay more and still they did not turn up. They first gave a quote for a price and then they wanted to increase it.

We had smelled carbon monoxide in the air, and Jimney's Chimney considered it an emergency and came out the very next day. They did excellent work!

Got appointment 3 days after I called and was able to use a $10 off coupon I found online. I was given a window of 10 am - 2 pm, however I received a call from the technician that he was running late at 2 pm. He didn't show up until 6:45. My time is not worth the price of a $10 off coupon.

This experience was not very good, and was the reason I joined Angie's List. The gentleman who showed up was personable enough but not helpful in explaining my slight backdraft problems, which was the whole reason I had Jimney's Chimneys come to my house. He seemed in a rush. He looked into my chimney and said "Uh Oh, this isn't safe". he noticed a chip in my flu. This chip is on the outside wall of the chimney. He said he didn't want to clean it because it wasn't safe to use. I'm no chimney expert so I said okay. I later asked around and did some research and found that a chip in the flu on the outside wall, where it meets brick (brick does not burn) is not a fire hazard. The only thing to watch out for is that you don't have gaps in your mortar. I have no gaps. Next, he inspected the chimney on the roof and came up with $3500 worth of work to do. But he reduced it to $2850 pretty quick. He even said he could fit me in the schedule real soon. I got the feeling was that he was there to sell me as much stuff as possible. I could be wrong. I asked how long he had been inspecting chimneys, and he told me 1 year. None of it added up so I paid him the $79 inspection fee and said I'd think about it. As I cleaned up all the mud he dragged over my carpet, I thought about it. I brought in another company and never told them I'd had this estimate. This rep threw a dropcloth down before stepping anywhere. Right away I new I had someone with lots of experience. In total, I paid this other company $300 to have the chimney cleaned and fixed up (see my other chimney report). I have had no more backdraft problems, and have had 4 raging fires lately.

They forgot to remove the TV antenna but as soon as I mentioned it, Jimmy sent someone out the same day and it was removed. They performed the work extremely promptly. Great job.

Made an appointment with the company to have my chimney cleaned; called the afternoon of the appointment and was assured they would be here between 1 - 4 pm; the cleaner never showed. I called at 3:45 was told that he was currently in Chevy Chase (I live in Hyattsville) and running late. Having taken time off work to meet the cleaners, I was surprised that with the current good grades this company received that they showed such little respect for my time and never notified me on their own.

They responded quickly to phone calls and came out for an estimate within 2 weeks. Work was completed just a few days later. Excellent experience.

Jimney's Chimneys was great! Jimmy showed up on time for the estimate, and even helped us solve an unrelated problem with the cause of some water penetration in an upstairs wall, which he identified as a result of the neighbor's gutter being plugged up resulting the water overflowing and seeping through our brick exterior. He unplugged their downspout to solve this (thanks!). As for the chimney work itself, the 2-man crew was on time, and completed the entire job in about 4 hours. New liner is great and the work on the brick looks very good from what I can tell. Their price was very competitive, and the communication was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again if I have any future chimney issues.

I had described our problem wrong to the dispatcher (hard to see the roof from the ground) and so they did not have one when they came by (had the chimney cap that I had said was what I needed). The guys said they would try to pick one up and come back that afternoon (was a Saturday). They got one and installed it quickly as well as completly cleaned the chimney. Could not ask for nicer guys or better response time.

They came when they said and gave us an estimate. It seemed high so when we called back, they realized that they had quoted the wrong thing and downsized it considerably. Everything they did was extremely professional and the people were great. Scheduling was no problem as Trish sits at the front desk and handles everything.

The company did well, and performed the service at a significantly cheaper rate than their competitors. They were fair, and recommended only the services that I needed. Their customer service was a bit lacking, and required me to call back multiple times, but I believe that's because they are not the largest firm. Overall, a good experience.

I just asked for a quote, so they never did any work for me.
