(1) They inspected the chimney but would not clean it because of defects said to need repair. They offered to deduct the cost of the cleaning from the repair cost when the proposed repair was performed. (2)The wood stove was pulled away from the brickwork behind it to perform the inspection of the chimney but the stove was not moved back fully after the inspection. This allows outside air to leak into the house. Unfortunately, our decision whether or not to accept the repair estimate of $ 2000 has been delayed because of budget concerns. In the meantime the leak remains. We will need to contact the provider about moving the wood stove back to its original position.

It went well. They came over the weekend and really cleaned it out . They were very efficient and knowledgeable about what they were doing. They were clean coming in the door and clean going out of the door. We were very happy with their performance.

They were over an hour late but worked hard to get it clean and running. I asked if the glass, which had become opaque, could be replaced and I was told he would find out. When I did't hear back, I called and asked again. He said he would check and get back to me. I'm still waiting.

Technician was on-time and very professional. We had not used the fireplace in several years; however, it was still in excellent condition and fired right up. The pilot light process was a bit odd, but the technician knew exactly how it worked and explained it completely and clearly. He evaluated all the parts, cleaned the glass, etc. and noted that everything was fine except a small squeak in one of the fans. He moved it a bit to correct it, but in the process the fan switch was overloaded and shorted out. While not a huge repair, it was one that was going to be delayed somewhat as they had trouble finding the right part ... finally located after I pointed them to the part available from a 3rd party vendor on Amazon.com. Overall a good experience and I will use them again and would recommend them to friends. The "B" rating on this visit was due to this part problem that I think should have been corrected much better ... however when I use them again, I anticipate giving them an A rating.

After the inspection, it turned out that I had to pay $5000 to repair the chimney. Usually I got the free estimate and now I spent $99 for an estimate.

It worked out fine. They were here on time and they did a good job. They came out within a few weeks after I purchased the big deal.

Everything went fine. No problems and they had very clean workmanship.

Work was a accomplished quickly and professionally. Slightly over priced cost.

The associate that they sent was punctual and cordial. However, he was really hesitant about working on our chimney because of the way it was designed. He called back at his management and he was told to go ahead and perform the sweep. He recommended several thousands of dollars worth of repairs. The sweep met our expectations, but they could not warranty given the design how well it was going to be done. No repairs were made at this point.

They work went well and they did a good job.

Morgan from Chimney.com performed the chimney check up and cleaning. I asked for more information on replacement options for the 45 year old cast iron damper in our chimney and Morgan provided me with all the information I needed. He quoted me for a firebox masonry repair for half the price an another company had which is always a good start! We had them do the masonry work in the fireplace, parge the smoke box, replace the damper and and fix the chimney's crown. They did a great job, remained incredibly courteous and customer friendly when we asked them to come back to correct a small issue. I would hire them again! Thanks Chimney.com

He was here for a short amount of time, didn't use a video camera for the inspection of the chimney, didn't go up on the roof to check the chimney, left me a quote for $2100.00 for things that needed to be fixed so overall I wasn't too happy with the service.

For timing, the technician didn't show up until after the arranged window of time. He had been held up by a previous client, which is understandable, but a phone call explaining his tardiness would have been appreciated. I received no contact from either the main office or the technician and wound up calling the office to check up on the timing myself. Once he showed up, Austin got right down to work and took care of things quickly and efficiently. He even cleaned the ashes out of the fireplace, which I've had other companies not do. The current damper on the chimney doesn't close all the way, so he suggested a top-mount damper to keep the rain out and our heat in. There was no pressure to get me to make a decision right away, and an offer to match a lower quote was extended. I received a written quote from the technician which was followed up with an e-mail the next day for both the work completed as well as a formal quote for the new damper. My husband and I are currently pricing similar dampers and have not yet made a decision on that work.

After speaking with Jimmy the owner I gave the go ahead for the work as specified in the technicians recommendations. Brian in the office scheduled the work for two days out from my call. Team of two arrived ( one of whom performed the inspection)when quoted and immediately went to work. A cloth was laid down to protect the area in front of the fireplace. While inserting the new fireplace liner some bricks needed to be popped out (took a while). I was assured by Christian and Clinton that even though this is atypical of most jobs they are equipped to handle which they did. This required them to gain access into the attic area which caused something of a mess because of the installation that was blown into the attic years back. They cleaned up. Due to the brick mishap the job was taking longer than expected and extended into another day. I was given the choice to have them complete the job in a day even though it was dark or return the next day. I opted for the next day as the team already had had a long busy day. I suggest that when bricks are removed on the exterior of the fireplace that the area be covered with a tarp or plastic to deter animals such as squirrels or birds gaining access into the attic -- thinking that was possible. This was something I thought about after they left. Christian took me through the flue work done on the furnace and hot water heater. He also showed me how the new flu worked and explained more energy efficient than the one removed. The team returned the next day and completed the job which included replacing the brick. Christian noted that the exterior bricks need to be acid washed to blend in with other bricks but I told him I didn't care. Christian takes pride in his work that the end result is a professional looking job. Chimney.com came back a 3rd day to wash the brick. I was away from home and while approaching my home I saw the Chimney.com truck drive away. Otherwise would have forgotten about the bricks to be washed. My neighbor across the street was watching the chimney roof work and was impressed with the team and their work. All was cleaned up and old removed brick was carted away. I gave a B to the price since I had no other estimate to compare it to but felt in the end received a fair price.

They made an appointment with me and they called back and said they did not service my area. They said they only service Virginia and Washington DC even though they said that they did service my area.

The chimney crown had all but disintegrated from water damage and the top 8 courses of brick were broken or cracked from past freezing and thawing cycles. Austin had originally estimated the project and gone over the details and expectations, time requirements, etc. On the first day of work Austin and an assistant installed the 3 stories of scaffolding and did some of the preliminary work. The scaffolding installation took most of the day because they had to work around (and through) a very large and long established piece of our landscaping. They took extra pains to be certain that they did no damage to my shubbery in the process. They showed me where they needed to cut two branches, and explained how it would be done in order to gain the required access and asked for my permission to do so. They made the necessary cuts in such a way that once done it was not noticeable. The following day the bulk of the work was performed with the mortar repointing being excellently done by Mikos. In my opinion, the entire job was extremely well done and the price was reasonable considering the quality of the repairs. During my search for potential repairmen I got estimates from three companies, all highly rated by Angies List and Washington Checkbook magazine. The estimated pricing from all three were very similar. I am glad I chose Chimney.com and would happily recommend them to anyone considering chimney repairs.

The serviceman called to ask if they could come early. They came and were very courteous and professional, performed job diligently and gave suggestions and estimate without any pressure.

They installed a pipe in my wood stove out the chimney and cut the middle pipe of the heatilator so the pipe would go out the top of chimney. Also they weatherproofed the top of chimney with two new caps. I'll know how well the work is when I start using the stove in couple of weeks or so.
