The home inspection before we bought the house mentioned that the chimney was crumbling at the crown and recommended repair. That was about 7 or 8 months ago. we finally had Chimney.com do the work. So far so good.

I bought a Big Deal from Angie's List and the chimney inspection wasn't bad. I was told my pilot assembly needed to be replaced and I'd get a quote right away. After a week, I got the quote and asked for a full replacement quote for a new fireplace. I never heard back. I called back and emailed asking for service to replace the pilot assembly. No response. It was a real mistake buying a big deal from these folks. They are not dependable and I'd recommend staying away. Now, I need to find someone else to fix my pilot assembly . UPDATE: As an update on this, they returned in October to fix the issue they identified. Part of the delay was our fault, but ordering the part took two months. When they installed it they damaged the fireplace further and left with a non-working fireplace (we found this out later). As a follow-up we hired another company to come in and take a look. Not only did the new company fix the issue quickly, undo the repairs of Chimney.com, etc, but they also did the cleaning that we paid Chimney.com to do in February. It turns out Chimney.com didn't even clean out the fireplace, the most basic of Chimney sweep services, before they closed it back up. These folks were a nightmare to deal with and I hope no one else has to go through the same experience we did.

My experience went very well. They were pretty efficient, they came in and explained everything to us. We had a couple of questions and they were really thorough in their explanation. And then we had asked them for an estimate for the work that was done, which they gave to us later through an email.

They covered their work area with drop clothes prior to starting. Worked quickly and effectively. They cleaned up when they were finished. They answered all questions fully.

Very well, on time, professional, tidy and very polite.

The cleaning itself was very professional. I felt like they were trying to upsell me other services that were not necessary.

We did not need anything done as far as maintenance is concerned, therefore we did not need to purchase any more services. However, the technician who came to our house was very knowledgeable and helpful. We would definitely consider using them again in the future.

During inspection, they accidentally detached the cord that operates the top-mounted damper, which means I can't use the top mounted damper unless they come back to fix the cord. THey said that I need a new mortar crown and need to replace 15 bricks. Estimate for this work is about $2,000. I will seek additional estimates.

The technician arrived on time to house, completed the estimate and the work was completed the same day. Very satisfied. Thank you.

The work was initiated in early December and turned out to be far more difficult than originally anticipated, and was interrupted by weather as well as by me having to be away the second week of December. I was thoroughly amazed by the dedication of the crew in trying to get the project to a logical stopping point before my departure. They worked late Friday evening and then asked if they could return Sunday morning to pour insulation and finish the cap on the chimney. Just over a week later they returned to finished the job, but not without being very concerned that replacement bricks were an exact match for the bricks on the house. Their work was outstanding and today you can't tell which bricks were removed to gain access to the chimney flu. The only glitch in the project was that the supervisor (Morgan) needed to return a few days ago to reset one of the anchors for the custom fireplace doors. Throughout the project I was surprised and impressed that there was never any mention about raising the original cost estimate to cover unanticipated difficulties encountered in completing the job (such as the chimney having an atypical solid concrete core). If you need chimney or fireplace work done, I can't imagine another company doing a more honest or better job than Jimmy's Chimneys, Inc..

I purchased a Big Deal for Chimney.com to come out and give an inspection and tune up of my gas fireplace. We have had our gas fireplace for about 3 years. I read they should be inspected periodically. The technician came out and while he was out he shut off the gas to inspect the fireplace; when he left he left the gas turned off and did not inform my husband.. When I called they said there was a serious problem and we should not turn the gas back on, or use the fireplace; they said they would get out the report as soon as possible. They basically told me that this is hazardous to us and we cannot use the fireplace, we need to replace all of the logs, then said the logs are no longer manufactured. I asked what I should do if I cannot get the logs I need, they said they would send me a quote on how much a new system would be. We still have not received any report after almost two weeks. We have asked multiple times for this report and to describe what they did and what needs to be done to fix this problem. I couldn't believe this so I called the company that installed this fireplace, they said the logs sometimes do create some dust, but there should not be any reason that we would have to replace the entire system. After speaking with them, I called the manufacturer of this fire place. They informed me that this again is not true, the logs are actually still made and they agreed to get them sent to the company that installed this fireplace and we can work out an arrangement for them to replace my current logs. After I spoke with Chimney.com the first time and they said they would send me a quote, my husband had to call back a few days later they said they were still working on getting the quote and my husband asked for the written report on what was wrong. They informed us they would have this to us in a couple of days. My husband reached out again a few days later and there has been no further response. They have caused a chaos and did not even warn us about these things, that seem to be false problems in the first place.

They guy didn’t do a very thorough job. I asked for pictures for the repairs he suggested and I never received them. I had no problems with the scheduling. They got the job done in about 20 minutes.

I think it went fine. They were on time and they did everything right so I would give them an 'A'.

The guy who came, said that the fan was not automatically coming on as it should at a certain temperature. He wrote the part and serial number and said they would order it, and then he would come and install it. Then he never came back. I could have done it if I could have figured out how to turn the fan on. Our clear understanding was that he was going to order it, and then come back. He never followed up, and that was the problem. I did eventually follow up with them, they ordered it, and he came and installed it.

The only difficulty was getting the appointment. The best techs are training other people for diagnostic work and they are very busy at this time of year. The front office was very good about politely contacting me to reschedule. All in all, this was a great experience, however.

I am very happy with this service. The young man was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. The entire process has been very pleasant and seamless.

It went very well. The service man showed up on time and did the job quickly.

He did nothing but turn on the gas fireplace. He did not fix the remote or explain the source of the odors. He did nothing with the wood burning but try to sell me a new liner. His explanation that the chimney was old and would need work made sense to me. I asked him for a written quote. But he never sent one and I never heard back from the company.

It was OK. I wasn't thrilled. He tried to sell me $2000 worth of goods and they've called me probably five times since then and I told them no several times. The guy was nice and he fixed it. But I've told him twice already and they keep calling and I am not even taking the calls anymore. He wanted to sell me a new remote for a $100 and then they suggested a bunch of more work, like putting in a new duct and all kinds of stuff. I have to turn it on inside the fireplace and that connection is not working properly now either, so I am not thrilled. It was not done adequately. I give them a D because of the constant phone calls. When he first came I would probably gave him a B. They did cancel the first appointment because they said they were too busy, but when they did come, they came when they said they would.

I was so pleased with their professionalism and efficiency that I further contracted external tuckpointing on the chimney which had been neglected by another contractor. That job was completed about January of 2014. The total on both jobs was approximately $2200.

The Technician was very professional, checked the two fireplace chimneys (cleaned one), and checked the furnace one also. After he finished I left to go to an appointment even though I was not feeling well. I came home and went to bed. I woke up to a cold house which I attributed to feeling sick, and feverish. I went to the Doctor where I was told I had bronchitis. I returned home and noticed that the house was very cold, checked the thermostat and it was 53 degrees. Adjusted the thermostat and went to bed. When I woke up it was still 53. I called Chimney.com to ask if the boiler had been turned off and the office manager called the technician who said he had turned it off and forgot to turn it back on. They said they would send someone out. Knowing their policy of a window of time I told the office manager I had appointments I could not cancel. They called again, but I was still out. At that point, I told them I would work with the switches to see if I could get the boiler to work. I will say I found the office manager not very professional during our conversation, and when I asked to speak with the owner of the company he refused to have him call me or to let me speak with him. This is a small locally owned business run out of a house, and the owner of the company is ultimately responsible for his employees, including the office manager. I have my own business, make appointments for a certain time (not range), am there on time, and speak to all my clients. The owner of the real estate firm where I work (Long and Foster Realtors) will speak to any of clients who may have issues with any of the Realtors in the company - this is service.

The service worked out great. The quality of the inspection was very good.

He was knowledgeable and described the problems in detail.

Prompt, well informed, courteous - highly recommend them.

Inspected chimney and provided me an estimate for recommended repairs (new damper, flue resizing). None were safety issues, and he suggested I call back in the summer when prices might be better if I chose to implement the suggestions.
