We hired the experts at Chimney.com to tear out the old fireplace and put in a new, smaller, and more modern unit. The tear-down only took a half-day, and the new install took one day. Chimney.com provided EXCELLENT service!! I received a text when they were on the way. The two technicians, Dennis and Juan, were professional, cordial and competent. They explained all of the repairs beforehand, kept me up do date and explained the process when completed including providing pictures. The cost was a little less than their competitors which makes them our go-to for all of our future chimney and fireplace needs.

Good service and helpful information

Very well. The job was a large one and it was a better price and warranty than other companies. They even found a hole in a metal pipe that had been missed by other companies and was potentially very dangerous

I recently had to have a flue liner installed in my chimney to ensure my new water heater was up to code. During the flue liner installation which was being done by a different company, this other chimney company noticed my chimney crown had cracks in it. I subsequently reached out to Chimney.com, who installed the crown 4 years ago. They informed me their work was still under warranty, and that they'd be happy to fix the crown at no additional charge. Within a week, Chimney.com sent a crew out and put on a flex crown to mitigate the cracks. It was an example of outstanding customer service by Chimney.com!

Great. Very efficient and responsive company. Highly professional. Easy to schedule inspection and repair. Dan who actually did the work was great. Showed up earlier than expected. Kept everything tidy. Worked speedily but carefully. Suggested painting the facing black, which was an excellent idea. Looks great. I was really pleased with everything and definitely would call these folks again.

It went well! The service person came out and provided useful information about my gas fireplace and the repairs that it needed. They also provided a free quote for chimney repair on the spot.

Could have been a lot better. I really wanted to like these guys based on a lot of positive AL reviews. After the initial inspection before having chimney cleaned, I was told the liner (tile) was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. I agreed to a price estimate of $3600. Two weeks later they came to do work and two men spent an entire day, but could not insert the new liner. They said estimator did not tell them scaffolding would be needed. The next day (after being told another crew would arrive around 8AM), they showed up at 11:00 and immediately said they were going to lunch. Afterwards, they told me that the first crew was inexperienced and that they had 20 years experience doing this. After some time they told me it was highly recommended I replace the second flue liner for the furnace. They said since they were already there and had everything set up that it would be an additional $1200. After talking to the office, they decided that it couldn't be done that day, and it would instead cost me an additional $2600. I took a pass. Crew seemed very eager to leave, collect their check, and get back home. Had to move back furniture myself. As I said.....really wanted to give these guys a good review, but this was not a very pleasant experience. **UPDATE** This is a follow up to my review from 1/20/2020. I received a call from the owner (Jim) and was very pleased that he took the time to explain everything to me and was very eager to address all my concerns, including personally coming out to my house and advising me on another issue with my furnace venting that I had not known about. So, ultimately, the work done was fine and very professional and it totally changed my opinion when the owner showed such understanding and support. This is what good customer service ought to be.

I am pleased with the work product provided by the crew at Chimney.com. It took a little longer than I had anticipated to complete the job (2 days instead of 1) , but in the end it was done to my satisfaction.

It went very well. Dan and Dennis were fun and professional and a joy to have in the house. They kept the house clean and double checked before they left. We can now use our fireplace without the unpleasant smoke smell that accompanied having a fire. The draw is excellent now and the smoke guard undoubtedly helped!

Carmine showed up and did the Chimney sweep for two fireplaces and completed the Chimney inspection. The inspection was very detailed and showed clearly that the two chimney's have not been maintained in decades. The report included pictures and a detailed list of defects broken down in layman's terms. The defect report showed water showed both water leaking in and heat escaping due to the dampeners being in deteriorated state. One chimney was in danger of collapsing and the other needed some loose bricks reset. Sean and Henry showed up onsite repaired and updated both chimneys and complete an inspection on my rental. Both went beyond the call of duty to make sure the work completed was at an outstanding level. The best I liked were the discounts on the work from the inspections and new owners. The pricing was reasonable and quality of the work was outstanding.

We changed $425 to be told the gas valve was not functioning properly. The only solution offered? Replace the whole entire gas fireplace for $8,000. Really?? My roof just cost $11,000!! No option to replace the faulty valve? I got duped and paid $425 for an expensive sales pitch.

Chimney.com was great. They fit me into their schedule, Travis was on time, professional, and did a great job.

I requested a quote via Angie's List and never heard from the business.

I only needed my pilot to turn on and the fireplace serviced since the previous renter never turned it on and want to make sure everything is working fine. Technician came, turn on the pilot, lifted a piece of metal covering the outside vent, and charged me $275???!!!!!! I was told that's the standard charge for the service because they had to drive from MD (so I am paying for their time to drive to my home). The company told me they have solved a problem and made the proper diagnosis, hence the high fees. In fact, the technical never said it was a problem, but only told the renters not to put the metal on the outside vent when the fireplace is on. After MUCH negotiation, I was charged $250. NOT recommenced for the high fee and their spin on the "service".

I thought it went well, but apparently it did not. I asked the tech repeatedly before he left if all the gas lines were repaired properly and everything was normal. He said yes. Well, by this evening I now have no hot water in my house. I do not know whether he damaged a gas line, forgot to turn the gas back on or what. Since this is gas, I’m actually very concerned the work was not completed properly. Now, I have to pay a plumber to come out and inspect the gas line and water heater. I will also have to pay another company to check if the gas line was capped properly at the fireplace. I do not recommend this company. Update The company did come out to fix the issue they caused with the water heater.

It went very well. He showed up early and the chimney looks brand new now.

Awful! No show! Rescheduled 4 times. Very disappointing for us. We had Terminex service to get the wasps out of our outside gas fireplace vent and stop them from traveling through the vent into our kitchen. We shared that it was an urgent call to replace the outside vent with a wasp resistant cover to ensure the wasps stopped coming into the vent into our house, along with servicing the gas fireplace. Terminex did a fantastic job and came three times to combat the wasps. Thankfully the wasps are gone for now. Chimney.com knew we were having this problem and did not show up - 4 times! We learned they only have one gas expert and he was a no show with no call the first date, canceled second date because he was too far away, third date his baby was born so we certainly understood that time, and, the forth guaranteed show for today did not happen. Victor who scheduled and promised service today by 7-8am (which we were up bright and early for after we had a family ER emergency the day before), and, I am nursing that family member at home today)-- didn't even call ahead to inform me that the gas tech had taken family leave to be with his wife and new baby who was born 2 days ago. Certainly I understand and sent congratulations to the tech on his new baby and taking family leave. However, Victor did not afford us the consideration of a call yesterday or even this morning to inform me that service would not be sent to us today...again. I was waiting since 7am, I finally called at 8:45am to find out if we would be receiving service today. Victor returned my call and that is when we were informed. This is not acceptable customer service. We will not be calling again for service, nor can we recommend this company to others for the reasons shared above.

They actually came out and said my chimney was clean and did not need the service. It was a rental house i own and had not checked the chimney in 10 years. The fact they were so honest will make me use them for my own house and other rentals i have in the future. It is very rare that you find a contractor who took the time to come to the house, that would say you do not need the service you contracted for.

Chimney.com was one of three bidders on project. They took the most comprehensive and thoughtful approach among the three and their price seemed reasonable based on the three bids. I was especially impressed with lead mason Abram, who clearly worked to high standards of excellence and creative problem solving. I would hire again.
