I just want to say to other AL members that it's really not worth paying these guys to come out to do an estimate. The turn around time is slow. I had someone out here a week ago. Asked for a quick turn around on pricing for part of the job and a week later have heard nothing. Further more when I arranged the appointment, I was told that window repair services included glazing repair. When estimator came out he told me that they no longer provide this service. I told him I thought it was not right for them to charge for an estimate on work they don't even do and that I would have appreciated being informed before scheduling an appointment to have someone come out. I regret wasting $65. there are a ton of legit companies that won't charge to come to your home to quote a job. I don't see that these people offer anything that merits paying for an estimate. If I'm going to pay for a quote I would at a minimum expect timely turn around. Don't bother.

I had a good experience with them. They came out, gave us a good estimate and were very professional. They were punctual and they came out on time. They were able to get it out and get in a new panel and it looks great now. We were very happy with them.

I installed myself. They want 500.00 to install them

I love my new windows! The installers arrived when they said they would be here and all windows were just as ordered. No mix ups and no damaged goods. They went right to work in a very professional manner. The installation had to continue the second day due to rain and again they arrived promptly and finished the work. After all installation was finished, I noticed several places that had not been caulked completely on the outside and two screens had small tears. I called the company and they were here promptly, finished all the caulking and repaired the screens. I found Blaine Windows to be very professional and did good quality work. I think one of the helpers was not a great caulker and several of the caulking lines had to be touched up by my painter, but it was not a big issue to me. It is important to realize that one does have to paint after the installation, but Blaine had forewarned me about that and I had my painter all lined up and ready to go. The end result are beautiful windows that insulate well from weather and sound and are easy to clean. I could not be happier with the windows and the work.

Blaine Window came out to give an estimate on a few windoews that were broken and replace some sears. They came out did an inspection, and told me they would get back with me. I never got a response, never got a reply. Never had that experience before.

Prompt, courteous, and quality service.

I called them to repair window locks on a bedroom window where the it had settled over time and did not latch properly. They did arrive on time and called to let me know they were on their way. After he had spent some time working on the window he informed me that he was only able to repair the one lock. To repair the other lock the glass would need to be replaced in order to have the latch fit properly. He mentioned they would send me an estimate. So I waited, a day or two went by and had not heard from them so I called them. He informed me that it would take a day or two, so again I waited this time a week went by. I decided to get another estimate and called 'Mr. Handyman', which turned out to be a good call. He repaired the latch in 15 minutes. So needless to say I will not be using Blaine Windows again and would not refer them.

I was very pleased with their work and service. (I didn't do any comparison shopping so can't speak to pricing.)

Wonderful. I had some fogged windows and broken springs on windows that were noted on the home inspection prior to home sale. Blaine Windows replaced all for a reasonable price! Pleased!

Overall it went well. Sometimes hard to get them on the phone, but as they seem to be the ONLY company in the DC area that does such repair work it went well in the end. The actual pros that come to your home are great. Knowledgable, friendly and really know window repair.The only downside was the office and not being responsive to phone calls. Basically they know they are the only game in town and the office staff can sometimes take a month or two to get the work done.

Everything was great except for the punctuality. He was about six hours late. It was not the guy's fault, I think his coordinator just did not plan well. The technician was very nice and knowledgable.

We hired Blaine to assess a window that was leaking. Two servicemen came out for the estimate and informed us that the sealing was not the issue, but that water was coming in around our cedar shake shingles. They recommended caulking around the shingles. They sent a different team back to do the work and we were informed that they resealed the window which was not the work we agreed upon. After multiple phonecalls, we finally clarified what work was actually done but it would have been nice to have had the team who did the estimate actually perform the work to save some headaches. The work was a bit overpriced for the minimal job done.

great job. high quality work from friendly people. they were expensive but not out of line with other companies and seemed to have a good reputation.

I called on a Monday and needed service by the following day (very difficult to accommodate). The service technician replied to my call within 12 hours and was able to come to my house within 18 hours. He looked at the broken window and immediately said, "this normally takes approximately 1 week b/c we have to order special glass, however, let me see what I can do". He call his sales manager and told me he would get back with me that evening. He left a message the following day and said, he thought he could accommodate us. I was very excited b/c my parents were coming in from out of town and I needed the window repaired. I immediately phoned and was unsuccessful getting in touch with the sales manager!! I was so disappointed. As a result I did not use their service. However, I know I put a very difficult time requirement on the company. The estimate visit was made on 19 September 2012. I was told that I would receive a written estimate in one week. I called the company on 1 October 2012 and spoke with Chris, who said he would check on the status of my estimate and get back to me later in the day or the next day. I never heard back from Chris. I called again on 5 October 2012 and spoke with Lynne. She told me that they were waiting for the technician to come back from vacation and would check with him the following week. I never heard back from Lynne. I called a third time on 16 October 2012 and spoke with Kevin. He stated that my estimate was on the Service Manager's desk and that he would talk with the Service Manager later that day. He also told me that the guy who performed the estimate visit was no longer with the company. Kevin said he would call me on Thursday, 18 October 2012. I never heard back from Kevin. The $65.00 estimate fee is put towards the cost of the work when the work is contracted for. By never providing a contract, this company makes an immediate profit. I woulld like an apology from the business owner for his staff's lack of responsiveness and an immediate refund of my $65.00. UPDATE as of 16 November 2012: Refund of $656.00 estimate fee was refunded.

They are fine. It took longer than we expected but I think it was a supply problem other than being their problem. not something they did. But everybody that I dealt with has been fine. They showed up for all of their appointments. I would use them again in the future if needed.

The whole experience went well. From the person who came to the house to give me an estimate to the store personnel to the final person who installed the piece--everyone was polite and prompt. The entire process took time because the piece had to be ordered, then we had to find a time when I could be home. They could have come a week or two earlier if I had been free . This was not an emergency--it was more of a cosmetic issue. I am pleased with the work that they performed. There is a slight discrepancy between the tint of the new glass and the tinted film that is on the rest of the window, but I can live with this. The out-of-alignment dividers really bothered me.

In July someone came out to look at the problem. Two weeks later we received a written estimate that required a deposit to go forward. Three weeks later the part came in. After a half hour, the person who tried to put the part in realized that the wrong part had been ordered and that the correct part would have to be reordered. Despite the mistake of the company, it was unwilling to pay extra for expedited shipping because they did not want to incur the cost. Another three weeks passed before the correct part came in and was installed. The individual who installed it thought it was acceptable to stand on a chair in my home to reach what he needed rather than go to his truck to get a ladder or ask if I had one.

I used Blaine Window Repair Service about 20 years again when a window in my first house needed replacement. I was very pleased with them then, so when I needed another window repair they were the first place I called. They certainly have changed. When I called Blaine, I set up a day a week in advance for them to come to the house to give me an estimate and measure for repairs. They were supposed to call one or two days in advance to give me an appointment window. When I did not hear back from them by the day before they were supposed to arrive, I called to ask for my appointment window. I was told we were the sixth call that day and that they would arrive sometime "midday". Since I did not have a definite time, I arranged to take the day off of work to wait for them. When they did not arrive by 3:30 that day, I called Blaine again and was told I was the next stop and they would be there in "30 min or so depending on traffic". That was the last I ever heard from Blaine. No one showed up and no one called to give an explanation or offer a new appointment. The next day, I called another window company that came out right away to do the measuring and order the parts for the repair. Blaine may be good for some people, but don't call them unless you have time to waste

Superb. This company fixed a number of windows in my home. I wish I knew about them years ago. Gretchen was the service person. Price very low. Happened to have all the parts with her. Now we can raise all our windows and close them properly. Gretchen was willing to give us advice, explain what likely happened. Plan to use these folks again.

I emailed Blaine Window through Angie's List on April 8th inquiring about an estimate to replace screens for 17 windows in my home in NW DC. I bought the house last Fall and most of the windows were missing screens. I received no response so I sent another message through Angie's List on May 21st. I received a response from Blaine Window Repair apologizing for not getting back to my first inquiry. The email stated there is a $65 fee for estimates and asked that I email back or call to schedule an appointment. I wrote back right away agreeing to the fee and asking to schedule the estimate. There has been no response from Blaine Window Repair since then (2.5 months ago). My phone number was included in my message so if they did not want to finalize an appointment on email, they could have called me. This is VERY poor customer service. I have left positive reviews for several providers since joining Angie's List last Fall. This is my first negative review, so I am not usually the problem customer.

Even though I incorrectly described the issues, Gretchen the technician from Blaine was able to correct the problem with a warped small basement window having a broken hinge - checking in with me before taking extra steps or undue expensive measures. The office staff was responsive and accurate - telling me when the technician was on her way and when to expect her to arrive as well as the anticipated cost. Despite blistering heat Gretchen worked methodically and carefully to repair the window. I was very pleased with the service.

Guys came out to assess the windows and did a good job diagnosing the issues. They recommended a repair after another company had said they could only replace. Estimate was on target and honored. It took a few weeks to complete the work as promised, and a crew came out to install the repaired parts to the window and return the screens. Overall things went well.
