Blaine Window Repair Service Inc

When I picked up the screens from the Blaine shop in Silver Spring, I noticed that the screen material was black and I was dismayed. When I asked an employee about it, his response was:" We used the same material as the one that was in the screens when you brought them in." Yet, the material in the screens I brought in was very light in color. I was told that they had been weathered and lost color. I asked the employee if there was some other material that could have been used. The employee , then, pointed to samples hung on a wall in the store, some of which were very light. There were 6 altogether that befitted my kind of screens . I asked why I had not been told, when I dropped the screens, that I had these six material to choose from. In response to that question, I received several answers as follows: Employee No.1: "We used the same material as the one that was in the screens " Employee No. 2: "It is up to the customer to ask for a specific material" Employee No. 3: "We have a million of choices..." Employee No. 4: " I told you it would be dark and you said OK" The responses from employees No. 1, 2 reflect a deliberate lack of customer service. The response from employee No. 3 was, at best, irrelevant. As for the response from employe No. 4, it was pure fabrication. Employee No. 4 was not the employee who assisted me when I brought the screens to the shop. I also have some comments about the estimate done by a Blaine employee on 6/14/14, Of the approximately 15 to 20 well known companies I called to inquire about estimates, Blaine is the only company who charges a fee ($65). Yet, Blaine's "inspector" did not point out to me, or notice, that the windows repair in the master bedroom required that the window shutters be completely torn apart due to a lack of clearance. The other "estimators" (who did not charge a fee to measure) did notice it though and pointed it out to me, which led me to decide not to include these windows in the project. Because of the unpleasant experience I describe above and the "Prima Dona" attitude of all the employees I talked to, I decided not to hire Blaine for my window replacement. I do not recommend Blaine service.

They were professional and polite. They explained what they were doing. They took down my blinds very gently and replaced them. They gave me a lesson on how to open and close my single close windows. I was very appreciative. They showed up on time and there were no hidden fees. The person who came out to do the estimate decided he was going to talk on the phone while we were working, so I requested he not be sent out again and they followed my request.

I decided against scheduling an appointment for an estimate because of the $65.00 fee.

In May I had an inspection and noticed that I needed 2 locks and a window pane replaced. The earliest they could come out to look was the first week of June. Contract says it will take 3-5 weeks to order the parts. I called to ask how long to install they said about a week or so. I emailed them with no response 3 times late June to early July. They called the tenant on 7/9 to schedule the install. They said 7/29 was the earliest date. Then the tenant told me that they could only fix one lock and for some reason could not put in the window pane and ordered one of the wrong locks. From the beginning, I mentioned that this was time sensitive. I am still working with them to get this resolved and will report my findings.

We live in a rental and the neighbors kids put a hole in the screen. We tried and tried to get the screen out but couldn't. The service person scheduled that day called in sick and a replacement was sent. The replacement ended up coming way before my appointment time - which is not a bad thing but I was not home. When they got here it took no less than 30 minutes to get the screen and she didn't a great job!

Professional, timely, courteous, good price.

All work was done well and delivered as promised.

The first repair person came to measure the window panel, took no more than 10 minutes. After the new window panel was received by Blaine, a second date was scheduled to install the window panel. On the day of the installation, the repair person came on time. Took about 3 minutes to take out the broken window panel, came back in about 20 minutes with the new window panel, then took another 3 minutes to put the new window panel in. The entire process took about 30 minutes, but the actually work took about 6 or 7 minutes, most of time was spent on retrieving the new window panel in the van. The new window panel looked great after the installation. Satisfied, but the service is a bit pricey after I saw how easy it was to replace the window panel.

I used them two years ago to replace a large transom under warranty so I reiterate my A rating. Overall the process wasgood. One large transom (5' x 5') and a mid-sized transom (2' x 5') needed to be replaced due to condensation inside. One other large transom needed to be replaced because the entire grid sank and an angled piece of the grid fell off inside the window. All these windows were still under warranty by the new home builder and shipped to me for free. The inner pane of a small transom (1' x 4') shattered most likely due to the house settling. This window was not covered under warranty and the claim was too small for the insurance company to cover. I purchased this window from Blaine and it was a perfect match to the existing window (color and grid spacing) but had a more durable seal. I paid $2300 for the two transoms (installation only). Then two months later I had problems with the smaller windows so I paid $400 for the mid-sized transom (installation only) and small transom (purchase and installation). I was expecting the price to be a few hundred lower for the two large transoms because the work would all be done at once. But they discovered that one of the replacement large transoms was DOA with seal damage so they came out again for no extra charge once another window arrived. So in the end the pricing wound up being reasonable considering the extra time and effort taken. The smaller transoms cost less than I expected but these smaller windows were fit in with with the larger window's job. So overall the price was reasonable. My experience this time was as good as in my previous review. Their communication over the phone and by email was quick and responsive. They always came on time, installed the windows well and cleaned up afterwards. Please see my older review for details from the estimate to signing contracts to the overall work tasks performed.

They did an estimate and the estimate was general. Everything went smoothly and they were on time. We never had to call them back. I would've preferred a more detailed estimate. But everything overall was a smooth process and I would recommend this service to others.

During inspection two windows were found to need repair for broken seals. After the estimate I had to call about a week later to obtain it and then schedule the work. They are not cheap but they did an excellent job. I will use them again on my new house.

First measurement was inaccurate, so had to be redone. However, another company had completely botched the job and had to remove the screen because it did not fit and still let in insects and bugs. The new screen seems to fit tightly.

Showed up at designated time, Went to work imeadiately, quickly performed the work. Cleaned up afterwards. Great job.

Their price was reasonable. They came out and measured the windows, made the screens, and installed them. Everything is perfect! I was thrilled to death!

Whenever I have problems with my windows I get them I have no other place that I can go to that I can trust. They are never expensive. For some reason every time I hire them to do something for me it comes out perfectly done and the price is really not bad. My experience with them was very good. I am not complaining about the price because I would pay money to a place that I can trust rather than look for something else cheaper and I do not know what is going to be the outcome. I have rental properties and every 10 days I have a broken window and I don’t trust anybody else to do it for me except Blaine Window.

I've bought and had clients buy replacement parts for old windows when no one else could help. I've also had a variety of repairs made to existing windows. While I wish the price was a little lower, these folks ARE the people to call. When no one else can fix it, Blaine can. If Blaine can't fix it, likely no one can.

Originally it was just replacing track wheels, turns out door opening had settled in the middle causing the problem in the first place. Door had to be removed and a fraction at the top of the door removed. It can cause unusable damage to the door if he made a mistake. He assured up he believes he could do it with out any issues. As promised it went without a hitch. Very polite and professional

They were very good. They took a little while to come out but once they did, they fixed the problem and did it quickly. They were very professional and they were very affordable.

very diligent. The old window was hard to remove due to location, but the serviceman worked hard. We love our new window.

I canceled. Had trouble getting back my money for the estimate. They said one thing at first, and then another.

We used them for two glass spots and they did exactly what we wanted as well as the price they quoted. We are very pleased with the service. They came to us and did measurements, call us to deliver I think in about a week which they did and they came in and they installed it and everything is just what we wanted.

I took the whole window in to Blaine for them to repair. I was told I had to bring in the whole window because they would have to take both panes out to replace the broken one. I took it in and was immediately helped. I was given an estimate and time that the window would be ready and my window was ready a day earlier than expected. The estimate was right on the money and very reasonable.

They came on time and had the window installed in a couple of hours. There were bars on the windows that they did not expect and they took them off and put them back on at no additional charge. They were very professional.

We called them on the recommendation of a painter we use, they came and gave us an estimate then returned when required parts came in. We scheduled a service call which went exactly as we expected. Gregg did the work professionally and cleaned up after he was done.

They were knowledgeable and completed the work in about 4 hours. There were no problems with clean up.
