Called on a Thursday afternoon, and Dave was out by the next morning. He took time to explain the life cycle of the little buggers, and that if we had let it go untreated, we would have had many more nests next year. He then quickly donned protective gear, and the nest was rapidly dispatched. He warned us that the hive members returning to find the nest gone would become very aggressive, and placed a Eco-friendly treatment to dispatch any aggressive stragglers. He also looked at some Carpenter Bee nests, but recommended either letting them be (no pun intended), or how to move them to a nursery where they would be of use. Dave was professional, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. The Bald Faced Hornets had been in the news recently having killed a lady doing gardening. Dave was sure they were disposed of and that we were safe from any stragglers.
Description of Work: Had a large (soccer ball sized) nest of Bald-Faced Hornets removed the was built in a bush right next to our front walk. It had these big, nasty looking hornets buzzing around all the time.

They were really good. He answered the phone right away and gave me a really good quote. He came out here right away, the same day I called him. He knew what he was talking about. I asked him about other bees I had and I checked his answers with what I found on the internet, and he was right. Everything was perfect. They're honest and reliable.

Although they did not show up for the scheduled appointment, they did admit that it was in their schedule, but missed it. They came the next day at the time they promised and even lowered the cost a good amount to make up for missing the original appointment.

On Saturday, July 12, I discovered yellow jackets flying in and out by the base of my outside house light where there was a small hole in the brick. I looked online for companies that take care of bees and came across Bee Be Gone. It has an A rating on Angie's List and with the BBB. At approximately 3pm Saturday, I called and spoke to David, the owner of the company. He told me that he was on the beltway and if he couldn't make it out today, he would come out Monday. The quote was $175 flat rate, since it was on the main level of my home. At approximately 6:45pm, David called to see if it was convenient for him to stop by and he was there within 15 minutes. I showed him where the yellow jackets were getting in. He did his assessment, told me what was going on and that he would use a non-toxic spray to kill the nest and yellow jackets. He said that the queen probably got in there in early spring and that the nest was probably the size of a small basketball, although this is the first I noticed any real activity. He also told me that I have a small mud daubers nest on the outside of the brick which he pointed out. He said to leave that alone, that they will not burrow through anything and that they eat spiders and will die off in the fall/winter. He sprayed the area, wrote up detailed instructions on what he used, what to do for the next 24/48 hours and when to caulk the hole in the brick. If after 21 days I still see yellow jackets to give him a call back, his work comes with a 6 month guarantee. David was professional, timely, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions I had. I would definitely hire him again.

It went very well -- he came quickly, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He explained the kind of nest we had, what that meant for how to treat it, what he was treating it with, the implications of that for us, how the colony will die off over the next three weeks, then how long to wait before caulking up the opening the yellow jackets had exploited. I would absolutely call him again.

Sprayed the nests and other areas where there was evidence of bee infestation. Very knowledgeable. Explained everything he was doing. Also documented it all very well on the scope of work. Warned me of impact on our dog for the first few days. The bees are now gone. We had tried unsuccessfully to get rid of them DIY. This worked MUCH better! Very happy

Dave came during the same week that I called him. I had recently figured out what was making the perfectly round holes on the underside of my deck railings, but didn't want to deal with carpenter bees myself. Dave called on the day of the appointment to give me his expected time of arrival. He was prompt, friendly, professional, and very willing to share his knowledge. I went around the deck with him while he inspected it, and he found two more holes that I had missed. He patiently answered all my questions about his procedures and the life cycle of carpenter bees. He assured me he will come back in late summer to plug the holes and check for any new infestation. I'm very happy to have found BeBeeGone through Angie's List and really appreciate Dave's service.

I first contacted this company in 2013 after many efforts of my own to eradicate the bees failed. The multiple ant-like mounds in my lawn began to multiply seemingly by the hundreds every day to the point where sections of my lawn looked like a moonscape - this, despite having a paid lawn-and-landscape service that seed and fertilize the lawn each year. David returned my call that evening and was able to schedule me within a couple of days of that phone call. He described my property as a "banquet" for these bees: it is a third of an acre landscaped heavily over 50 years with azaleas, rhododendrons, mountain laurel, and ground covers of pachysandra and periwinkle. The bees started in these shrub beds, and multiplied there, finally spreading into the lawn itself. His treatments saved the lawn, but he cautioned that it would not eradicate the bees. This year I called him as soon as I saw the first holes appear late Friday, 9 May. He scheduled me for early the following week but was unable to come due to heavy rain. It has, in fact, been raining heavily off and on over the last 7-10 days and his schedule was set back. Based on my experience with him last year, I knew he would come as soon as he was able, and I did receive his reassurance that he had not forgotten me. He arrived on the 20th, and because we are still expecting thunderstorms, he applied granules that would soak into the ground. He also uses a "cloud" or fog-like treatment which he intends to administer just as soon as the weather cooperates. He leaves a flyer if I am not at home so that I know he has treated the yard and can keep my dog off the lawn after the treatments. I give him and "A" for punctuality despite the delay in treating my property this year, because (1) he is responsive to my phone calls; (2) the difficulties working around the rain delays are completely understandable, and (3) last year his followup treatments were all within the 7-14 day window we talked about. I did an extensive amount of reading about "ground" bees/wasps, "digger" bees/wasps, and "mining" bees and thought I could control this problem myself, but each year the problem got worse. I probably spent over $300 on various recommended insecticides, granular and liquid, over the three years I tried to handle the problem myself. The areas of lawn infested with the bees just kept getting larger, and the number of "hills" destroying my lawn seemed to increase logarithmically. This year, though, while the bees have expanded a bit into new lawn areas, they have retreated in others that were severely affected. It will not be a problem solved in one year. I forgot to ask David for the Angie's List discount last year and paid $350, so this year he kindly charged me just $300. Next year I will make sure I call him in early spring to begin treatments earlier so that the bees can at least be confined to the shrub beds allowing me to enjoy walking on the lawn, working outside, and enjoying the azaleas without thousands of bees buzzing around. I understand the benefits of pollinating bees, and do not want to eliminate them all, but trust me: if you let this problem go, you can kiss your yard goodbye.
Description of Work: Treated large sections of front, back and side yard for very extensive and severe infestation of ground or "miner" bees. Price includes initial and four/five follow-up treatments approximately 7-14 days apart depending upon weather conditions.

We were extremely pleased with the work done by Bee Be Gone and will definitely call this company for any future bee/wasp infestation problems inside our outside out house. David was courteous, professional, thorough and very knowledgeable. He also took the time to answer all of our questions and educate us about how to identify potential problems, what kind of bee/wasp it might be, what to do and what preventive measures we could take to avoid future problems. We called Bee Be Gone after we found four large hornets in our house over the period of one week (one dead, three alive that we let out the window), and decided we needed to call an expert to come help determine if we had a nest. Found Bee Be Gone on Angie's List, saw the great reviews, A rating and liked that they specialize in bees/wasps. David came out to take a look and did an incredibly thorough job of inspecting our entire house interior and exterior as well as the sheds in the backyard. He looked at pictures we had taken of the hornets and identified them as European hornets. He could not see any obvious nests and so provided us instructions on what to look for over the coming weeks to determine whether they had nested in the house and if so where. He said we could call him and he would come out right away to help us once we saw any of those tell tale signs. Upon inspecting the yard, he discovered that we had carpenter bees in our back shed, he treated the area with pesticide and provided advice on how to seal and paint the wood in the fall to prevent future infestations. We were quite happy with David's service and would definitely recommend him to anyone else who has a bee or wasp problem.
Description of Work: Inspected interior/exterior of house and backyard to include sheds for hornets and bees. Determined European hornets had been seen in home, but no nest was found (too early). Determined we had carpenter bees in shed, applied pesticide to the bored wood to kill bees and their eggs. Provided the homeowner with advice on what to look for to identify hornet nest area, once we see it he can come back and address/remove nest, and how to fill/treat wood in shed to prevent future carpenter bee infestations. Also provided homeowner advice on how to seal areas around exterior of home to prevent pests from coming in.

The tenants were seeing a lot of wasps around the house and it was determined that there was some kind of nest of them in the chimney. Dave came to analyze the problem and believed they were paper wasps and that a group of fertile females wintered in the chimney and started coming out as the weather warmed began to come down to get things going for the spring. He shot a non-toxic insecticide bomb up into the chimney and sealed the damper as best he could. This should have kept them at bay/kill them for 6-8 weeks, and beyond that he recommended small fires on rainy days over the summer to smoke them out. He left paperwork describing what the problem was and what he did along with a 2-month guarantee. The tenants and I are very pleased with his service and would recommend and use his services again if needed.

David was awesome. He placed all the treatment professionally and timely. He explained all the processes. He told me how I needed to finish the project after the summer and explained all steps carefully. He found an opening in our foundation and plugged it up with special mesh to prevent rodents from entering. This was not part of his job to do this, he just found it on his own and showed me! He found ants on the deck and explained what we had to do and not to worry just yet. He is professional, courteous, and timely. a home run!

We'd noticed carpenter bees active around the eaves and dormers of our home along with the telltale debris that they leave behind. I had narrowed our search of pest control companies to four based on AL reviews and called to schedule appoointments for an estimate. I left a message with BeeBeGone for a call back. I heard back from David and talked with him about what we were observing. He told me what the treatment typically entails and provided me with a rough estimate of cost. He charges $55 to come out to take a look and if his services are used, the $55 is waived. He offered an appointment time for the next day. Since I had just started calling around and because he charged a fee to provide a firm estimate, I told him I would think about it and let him know. I called the second company on the list and scheduled an appointment for the next day. I called the third company and after searching for an appointment time with a technician to come out for an estimate, I was told she didn't have anything to offer at the moment and could she call me back? I never did get a call back. I didn't end up calling the fourth company. The company I made the appointment with came out at the appointed time, provided an estimate to treat for carpenter bees. The cost would also include treatment for other insects/pests such as ants, wasps, crickets, etc. They offered an AL discount, as well ($30). I was told to call the office to schedule an appointment if I decided to use them. I thought I would take one more look at BeeBeGone's reviews before deciding. They were stellar and I liked the idea that bees were this company's primary focus. I called David Engel back, got him on his cell phone, talked to him more about his process for treatment and cost (it was a bit higher than the estimate I had from the first company and did not address any other pest treatments) but I felt this guy knew his stuff and I gave him the ok to come by. He was able to come that afternoon and initiate treatment. He arrived precisely at the time he said he would. He was personable, professional and took his time evaluating the situation. He gave me the cost for treatment and I gave him the go ahead. I felt David took his time treating the bee nests. He also communicated what he was doing, why and was very clear on what our follow needed to be so that other bees did not return to the nests in the future. He ended the visit with telling us once again, very clearly, what we needed to do in the fall as follow up. We felt we made the right decision in using David and BeeBeGone and would highly recommend him.

If you have bees (or any flying insect issues), David is your man. Called me back within 24 hours and was willing to squeeze me in within a few days. I actually wasn't in a huge hurry so we scheduled for the following week.
