We randomly contacted Amy Faust to start our homeowners search. We found a house we wanted to look at just to start exploring our options. I called the contact agent for the listing, who just happened to be Amy. I explained how we were just starting our search for a home and was wondering if we could set up a time to come see this particular listing. Amy obviously knew there was no way we were going to make an offer on the very first house we went to see, but she still agreed to meet with us and let us know that she "loved working with first time home buyers." I don't think a lot of agents would have spent the time with us, knowing we weren't "serious" buyers yet. We met her at the house that very weekend and she spent SO much time talking to us, getting to know us, and explaining the whole process we were about to embark on. Amy was so helpful through our whole process and so energetic! I truly don't think our home buying process would have been as stress-free as it was if it wasn't for Amy. I would highly recommend Amy's services to any first time home buyer, someone who is selling, or looking for a new home. She is very dedicated to her job and we would definitely use her when it's time to sell our home (many years from now). My only regret is that we found a house so quickly and didn't have the pleasure of working with Amy for a longer time!
Description of Work: Amy was our real estate agent that helped us find our first house. She was nothing but helpful, attentive, and a joy to work with. She explained the whole process of buying a home and what to expect. She set us up with an automatic mailing list of all the current listings in the area. All we had to do was email her and she would set up the time and places to go look at the houses. We made an offer on a foreclosure at first and she walked us through that whole process and when it ended up not to be a good deal we backed out with her support. We continued our search and ended up seeing our house the very next weekend! It was a smooth process and we couldn't have asked for a better person to work with!

We are a military family and needed to purchase a home in a short period of time with no knowledge of the area. Amy was highly recommended by other military friends and she delivered! She found us several beautiful homes for us to view in a very tight time crunch and rearranged her schedule. She led us through the process of our first purchase and we are happily living in our home now. He professionalism, kindness and knowledge of the area and business was outstanding. She was always available by phone even late at night when dealing with a time difference from where we were stationed. You would be lucky to have her by your side through this otherwise daunting process. Amy was more than a real estate agent she became a friend and life line as I called her daily living in Army lodging for info, she was amazing!
Description of Work: Amy began emailing us several lists of properties avalible and then we narrowed them down and once we came to the area she walked us through countless homes. She did all the parper work with us eventually led us to the closing table!

I called Amy regarding what we needed to do to sell our home. My husband and I were thinking of moving out of state and having not consulted with a real estate agent in years, I decided to check Angle's List which is where I got Amy's name. At first I emailed her, she promptly returned the email and we chose a time for her to come by, look at our house and tell us her thoughts about what we need to do in order to put it on the market and get the best sell price. Amy went through our entire house, both inside and out. She spent about 3 hours discussing the house with us. She came prepared with a folder with lots of information regarding what to expect when the house is on the market, showings, inspections, offers and what we should expect from her and what she needs from us. Based on the description of our house, she came with similar houses which had sold or were for sale near us and showed us the asking price. The folder also had numerous letters of commendation on Amy which were very impressive regarding her style, knowledge and customer service in the real estate business.. It was clear to me and my husband that Amy was very knowledgeable regarding real estate, showed confidence and was very friendly and personable with us. She put us immediately at ease and is so easy to talk to. At one point, we got on the topic of one of the supermarkets near us which has delicious fried chicken and I told her that we never had it. About an hour after she left, she arrived with a fried chicken dinner so that I wouldn't have to cook that evening! Although my husband and I have put our house selling efforts on hold for now, we will definitely be in touch with Amy once we decide to move ahead with the listing and sell of the house. Amy is everything you can ever ask for in an agent and I strongly recommend her if you are considering buying or selling a house.
Description of Work: My husband and I are considering selling our house and moving out of state. Having no experience as to what to expect with this effort, I set up an appointment with Amy to came by, look at our home and provide us with information regarding what to do to prepare to sell it and get the best sell price.

Amy Faust came recommended to us before we even got to Maryland. We were looking to buy our first home and through emails she had our wish list and budget and we'd get listings from her at all hours of the day! When we finally met her she immediately made us feel as if we were her only clients. She was ready to show us 10 houses in the first 2 days of our arrival. She was a plethora of helpful and imformative thoughts about homes that had never occurred to us as first timers. When we found a home we really loved, she patiently answered all of our beginner questions and concerns while we went through the process of making offers, and closing the deal. Amy was extremely professional during every aspect, and kept us in the loop at every turn. We were new to this area and her knowledge seemed boundless when we questioned her about routes to work, where to find a good meal or buy groceries. If we ever decide to sell, we will call on Amy to represent us. We would recommend her to anyone moving to the area.

From the first time we met Amy, we knew we had made the right decision to ask her to list our house. She took the time to listen to all our concerns and answered our questions. She explained the process and told us what to expect as we went along. She went through our house with us and showed us what we should do to make our house show better. She was there every step of the way and really interested in getting our house sold for the best price and also finding us a new home that met our requirements. She is very knowledgeable, but also listened to what we wanted. I can't imagine going through this process without her.

One last note about Amy, she is the most honest and easy to talk to person you could meet. She is very accessible, and she tells you the truth of the situation. The decision to sell this house was one of the most burdensome situations I have had in my life. We were across the country and about to move across the world, I was quitting my job to be with my daughter, and the property was in shambles. I won’t say that the process wasn’t without stresses but Amy was a true leader and partner in getting out from under our house. My husband and I have already referred a couple of our friends moving to the area and will continue to sing her praises to any one that will listen. If you are looking for an agent she’s the one!
Description of Work: I don’t know where to begin with Amy Faust. I guess I will start by saying she is an AMAZING realtor! We contacted Amy to sell a house that had been a rental for a few years since my husband is in the military and we had to leave it behind when he changed duty stations. The tenant was moving out and we were getting ready to move overseas and wanted to sell the property. The property had been really damaged from the tenant and we knew that repairs would be necessary. One of our biggest concerns besides the sale itself was trying to get estimates for the work and coordinate it while we were half way across the country. She assured us from the beginning that she was the woman for the job and that she would take care of EVERYTHING. And she definitely followed through. She was able to determine exactly what work need to be done and made recommendations that would save us money and help us get the most bang for our buck. Amy coordinated all to the work for us and checked in on the contractors/cleaners to ensure everything was done efficiently. Once the house was ready to go she even staged it for us and it looked better than the day we bought it originally! I thought we would be good to go and we got a lot of interest in the house with her connections. Soon enough we did get some offers but then found out that our condo association had lost their FHA certification, which really limited our buyer pool. Amy again took charge of this situation contacting the condo association and other realtors to determine what actions needed to be taken and again resolved another problem that was practically transparent to us. In the end we sold our house in Maryland while we were living in Arizona and then Germany. It also has to be said that we had multiple offers and sold it for full asking price; much better than we expected in this economy. Overall, even though the home did not sell, Amy did everything should could. She was in constant contact with us as she followed market trends and home sales in the area which enabled us to change the price of the home in an attempt to keep it competitive. She also did a great job staging it, the home looked great and this was noted by many of the people who walked through it. In the end, due to the season, length of time on market, and economy we decided to rent the home, at which time Amy did a wonderful job securing a great tenant.
Description of Work: We chose Amy as our listing agent after switching from another company. She staged the home, had professional photographs taken, listed it on multiple websites sites, tracked and followed up on showings, and held open houses. She also acted as our agent when we decided to rent the home.

After interviewing 3 other Realtors we chose to use Amy as our Realtor for the purchase or our first home. She was professional, answered all of our (numerous) questions, and ensured that we were comfortable with the entire home purchasing process. Amy worked with us to come up with a well defined wants and needs list for what we were looking for in our first home, and unlike other Realtors, was not dissuaded by our ambitious list and expectations and really took the time to understand our needs. She searched night and day (literally) sending us updates to a customized home list at all times of the day. It was fantastic having someone so dedicated to finding us the house we would call a home. After looking at online MLS listings with her and providing her some feedback on things we hadn't even thought of before, Amy was able to create a short list of homes that met our expectations and budget, which was no easy task! After a few drive-by's to check out the neighborhoods and confirm our interest in some of our homes, we visited four houses over a weekend with Amy. We fell in love with one of the homes and began the purchase process! Just as Amy answered all of our pre-purchasing questions, she also made sure that we knew what to expect and helped us come up with an aggressive approach to ensure that we would not only get the home we wanted, but at an excellent value! Amy kept us updated and calm during the price negotiations between the sellers. Not only did we get the house, but it appraised higher than the purchase price so we had instant equity, which was a wonderful surprise to us as first-time buyers! Amy continues to keep in touch with us and worked with us to find an excellent contractor when we needed some minor chimney work. Amy was incredibly easy to work with and communicate with, and made the process fun! She helped us to prepare for each step along the way and helped to reduce the stress by helping us know what to expect, contacting us with news as soon as it was available, and communicating in a caring, direct manner. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Amy as a Realtor. Simply put, she is AWESOME!

Amy helped my husband and I find our first home during the summer of 2010. She was simply fabulous. She did a ton of research on comps (which helped us get an amazing deal). Once our offer was accepted, she helped us get through the inspection, and worked with the sellers to get them to follow through on the repairs that the home needed. When it came time to sell our condo, we didn't even think about going anywhere else. Despite a tough market, with several lower-priced short sales and foreclosures in our area, she managed to get us almost a dozen showings the first week, and a full-price offer within 10 days. After we accepted the offer, she continued to walk us through the whole process, and was at the property for the appraisal (armed with a list of upgrades), to make sure everything went smoothly. We simply couldn't be happier, and we highly recommend Amy Faust.
Description of Work: Amy served as our agent both as a buyer (of a single-family home in Silver Spring, MD), and as a seller (of a condo, also in Silver Spring, MD).

The extraordinary service and personal attention to detail that we received from Amy was unparalleled, exceptional and by far, exceeded what would be expected from a Realtor! Amy?s knowledge of the buying and selling process, her thoughtfulness, dedication to her craft and personal touch is above and beyond reproach. The path taken to meeting Amy, acquiring her as our Agent, selling our existing home and buying our new home was nothing short of miraculous. Our story with Amy is what legends are made of. My wife and I met Amy just by chance. We had decided to sell our home and purchase, possibly, a new construction home. We had made an appointment to look at a new house that was just built. We met the agent at the house and he showed us around. We didn?t like the house, but we liked the agent. Since we really didn?t have an agent, we were not against talking to this agent a little further about what our wants and needs were in buying a new house. We never had a chance to sign on with this agent because we met Amy a couple of days later and the rest is history as they say. Our daughter had sent us a listing, by e-mail, for a new development in the area we wanted to live in. We went to the model home on very cold day. There was still a lot of snow on the ground from the previous snow storm we had. We actually didn?t think the model would be open. This is where we met Amy. She told us that she was filling in for the listing agent who had needed off that day. Since there wasn?t much foot traffic at the model and after she had showed us around, we decided to stay and talk to Amy a little bit more. It was after our lengthy conversation with her we knew that this would be the agent for us. She has such a bubbly personality that she puts you at ease from the moment you meet her. We arranged for Amy to come to our house later on that week. She showed up and did the obligatory review of our home pointing out what needed to be de-cluttered, what needed to be painted, etc? We settled on a date, approximately 3 weeks away, on when we would have the house ready to be put up for sale. The de-cluttering process wasn?t going all that well for us when we received a call in the middle of the week from Amy stating that a couple wanted to come look at our house that coming Saturday. Now there?s one thing you have to keep in mind, our house wasn?t even up for sale yet. I asked Amy how the couple knew about our sale and she told me that she was talking up our house to the other agents in the office and that one of them told her that he had a couple who was interested in the area that we lived in and the type of house we had. Needless to say, we scrambled to get the house in shape in time for the couple?s visit. Well, as fate would have, the couple liked our home and put an offer in on it. This was nothing short of a miracle. Technically, our house wasn?t even up for sale yet. There was no sign outside, it wasn?t on the internet and by all intent and purposes, it didn?t even exist for sale. I have to believe that if it wasn?t for Amy?s dedication, we wouldn?t have been this fortunate. She was selling our house even before it was up for sale. How incredible of a story is that. Before I continue with the story of the sale of my house, I want to tell briefly talk about what Amy did for us on the purchase of our new construction home. We found a new development that we liked and went with Amy to look at it. We decided that it was right place for us and proceed to talk to the selling agent at the development. We picked the house and made a list of all the extras that we wanted. The price was on the top end of where we wanted to be, but none the less, we were satisfied. When Amy received the ?official? listing contract with the final price, she told us that we were going to ask for some things for free. I was floored. I didn?t think you could do that. To make a long story a little less long, she ended up getting us approximately $37,000 in extras!!! I could not believe it. She got us over double what that commission was on the sale of our house. Just one more way that she went above and beyond what I thought an agent would do. I never would have thought about asking for extras. I guess that is why she is so great. Now back to the sale of our house. After the house inspection, we found out that we had to have our entire outside plumbing replaced as well as repairs to the roof and siding. Amy told us not to worry that she would take care of everything. She got our roof and siding fixed and also got the plumber. Now the plumber wasn?t the first one she talked to. She received and estimate of $3200. She thought that was too high and got a second estimate of $3700. We were going in the wrong direction. She would not be hampered by this minor glitch. She got yet a third estimate for $1850. By her perseverance, we were able to save over $1300. That wasn?t the best part though, not only did she make all the arrangements for the plumber, she also met him there and stayed at our house, on her own time, until the plumber was finished. I never had to take any time off from work to be at the house for when repairs were being made. She did it all herself. Is that a SUPER AGENT or what???? What more could you possibly ask for from your agent? I don?t think there?s anything more that you could ask for!!! Amy was with us every step of the way. We couldn?t have been more comfortable with someone if they were a part of my own family. In the time that we've known Amy, she feels more like family than just our agent. It's been 7 months since we moved into our new house and to this day, Amy will still call and text us to see how everything is going. She is a SUPERSTAR among superstars who outshines the rest. Regardless of whether you are buying or selling, I would highly recommend Amy Faust, from Long and Foster in Severna Park, as your agent. We could not have asked for a better Realtor to help guide us through the buying and selling process.
Description of Work: Contracted with Amy to sell our house and to also assist us in buying a new one.
