Description of Work: They did the work as promised and was very good in explaining what they planned to do and why they were doing it to resolve a water issue around a pool and ground area. It looks great and so far so good. Compared to other offers they offered a reasonable service and detail billing. I would use them again.

Description of Work: Contractor gave a verbal quote for sidewalk replacement. I approved the work and asked he send a formal proposal so I can send him a deposit and get on his schedule. Phil promised several times to email the formal quote, but never did. He even came out a second time to confirm the work. I never got the quote, and he never returned my calls.

In January, we decided to remove our deck and replace it with a patio. Beyond that, we needed guidance on what to do with our backyard. We interviewed 4 companies. Continental Landscaping (Anthony Verzi) was great during the interview and proposal process. He arrived for the meetings at our house on time and prepared with his materials. He listened to our thoughts, and then looked around the property. We talked about our budget (which was very "up in the air" because we did not know what we ultimately wanted done). Tony agreed to get back to us with a proposal, which he did quickly. When he returned to our house, he showed us his proposed drawings, walked through the bid, item by item, and discussed the different materials (pavers, stone, etc.) that we could use. He explained his relationships with the other companies we would be working with - Swimstyle Pools, Brightview Electric, ACE Hardware, and promised to oversee all aspects of the job to make sure everything went smoothly. We paid Tony a fee for a more detailed drawing that included detailed measurements and proposed plantings, etc. The cost for the detailed drawing was $350, which was then credited to the job - it was worth every penny. He returned again to review the detailed drawing and ultimately, we decided to hire Continental based on: (a) his concept of the backyard, (b) his professionalism, particularly his willingness to speak to both my husband and me about all aspects of the job, without any presumption as to who was making the ultimate decision, (c) his patience as we walked through the design and suggested some changes, and (d) his price, which was not the lowest, but seemed to offer the best value. Tony also promised to have the job done by the end of May, in time for a family event at our house. The final project consisted of removal of the deck, installation of a raised patio, new pool deck, new coping, landscaping and landscaping lighting. The patio included a sitting wall and steps up to new hot-tub/spa. Tony selected and coordinated wih the other contractors, which we paid separately (not included in the $60,000): hot tub (ACE), electrical work (Brightview Electric) and the pool tile and resurfacing (Swimstyle) separately.Selecting the paver/stone took some time, but not because of Continental (we were searching for the perfect stone). Tony brought several samples to the house and met us at The Stone Store to review options. We were provided with different options and at different price levels and ultimately chose a paver that we absolutely love.We also took our time selecting the pool tile and resurface material for the pool. Swimstyle was great and coordinated with Continental with respect to timing and materials.Once Continental began the work, everything went very quickly and smoothly. Tony's workers were complete professionals, very nice and very hard working. They started by 7:30 or 8 every morning and often worked until 6 or 7 pm. There was very little down-time. When we left for spring break, Tony emailed us photos of the work during the week to show us the progress. During the project, Continental identified an electrical line that was not properly buried in the ground by a prior contractor. He immediately advised of the problem, consulted with Brightview Electric and obtained a very reasonably priced proposal to resolve the issue. The work was done quickly and the job continued without any delay. When Tony began the landscaping portion of the project, he worked with us to review, adjust and finalize the design and various plantings, and helped us select plants that fit our preferred colors (blues, purples and whites). Once finalized, Continental went to work with the planting and Tony worked right along side the other men to get the job done. With regard to the hot-tub, there was one small logistical problem that arose due to the placement of the electrical panel on the tub. Tony worked with ACE, came up with a very creative solution, and made sure he followed the project to the end.The project as complete well before our May 27 deadline and we have been enjoying the backyard every since. It is absolutely beautiful and everyone comments on the work done by Continental Landscaping and the other companies.I highly recommend Continential Landscaping to anyone interested in landscaping-hardscape projects. Very well done!

We wanted a vendor who could perform services for both our fence and our patio projects so we compared other companies. We did not hire Continental but they were definitely professional and probably would have done a good job....we just got the same project done for less with another company!
Description of Work: We did not use this vendor since their quote was on the high side, but they seemed very professional when they came out to our property to provide an estimate for our patio project.

Last year I had them replace my driveway a couple of fences, take down a tree, re-grout a patio. replace the front lawn. They landscaped the result. It was a big job for me: my little house is worth about $250K and they did $30K of work. When they were hit with surprises, like a concrete platform under a brick driveway, they handled it efficiently and at low cost. Twice. They followed through by providing instructions for maintenance at the end, as I requested. Communication was short, direct and immediate, which I appreciated. The results were exactly what I asked for. Problems: One tree that was moved did not survive. It was a small, decorative tree. I paid to have it replaced this spring. I wished they had greater availability in the early spring. Plus: Everything: work done quickly and efficiently. Fast responses to email. Great quality... still get complements on the work.I think the price was above average, but I think the work was outstanding. Their ability to absorb small problems... easily, and without increasing the basic cost by very much (10%? it wasn't much) was impressive. I would recommend for a tougher job. If you just need lawn maintenance... maybe not the cheapest option, though I did hire them to do this because I was so pleased. Have a retaining wall to put in? Want to landscape a few acres? I highly recommend Continental Landscaping.

We met Continental Landscaping at the MD Home and Garden Show. We asked them to visit our property, discuss our project, and draw up a quote. Mike Donaldson came out. He was very prompt, professional, courteous and had great ideas and recommendations. After the visit, they took about a week to send us a written quote for the job. The quote was very detailed. However, it was the second highest quote out of five contractors. We ended up picking a different contractor who was $6000 lower in price for the same work and quality.
Description of Work: Continental Landscaping quoted a job to replace wooden landscaping timbers with stacked stone walls and stone walkways. Their price was $6,000 to $10,000 higher than three of the other five contractors who bid the same job.

We were worried about having the job done a few days before the Christmas holiday. Tony and crew said it would be done, and even with one day of rain, they completed it on time. They were also very accommodating to requested modifications as the job progressed toward completion.

Let me start this review by saying I watched the crew from Continental Landscaping work in my yard for about a week and I have never seen a more professional and caring group of guys in my life. The results are simply amazing. Tony is the owner - a great communicator, honest businessman and very knowledgeable. When you ask him for a quote - he won?t be your least expensive but he won't be the most expensive either. Go ahead and get other quotes but I ask you to look at this: 1) Look closely at the product he wants to use, it will likely be superior 2) Listen close to his presentation, it will be professional and comprehensive 3) Ask him all the questions you want to know about landscaping, he will have the answer or find the answer for you. We had five quotes from five different companies, Continental Landscaping was the most informative and comprehensive quote. He used professional, commercial equipment, his guys were able to communicate well in English (not meant as a stereotype), and Tony was never more than 12 hours away in a response to a question or concern I had. I am a high maintenance customer, I am very picky, I hold contractors to the letter of the contract and I required contact daily during this project. Yes, Tony even wrote to me on Sunday. Tony and his crew are down to earth and very responsive. Let?s discuss price and business for a second - bottom line is: I felt I paid a fair price and got the results I expected. I could have gone cheaper but I am not so sure another contractor would have glued the stones down (looked like a special adhesive), placed the black mesh under my driveway and inside both planting areas (weed barrier material), left my yard cleaner then when he started, and was willing to communicate with me and answer questions literally every day. The most important question any consumer has when they spend well over $12K in landscaping is - would you hire the guy again? I have to say - Yes, Continental Landscaping is welcome back to our neighborhood any day. They raised the value of my property but even more important, my wife was comfortable with what she saw from Continental Landscaping. For us married guys (that is most of you reading this review), nothing matters more than if your wife is happy with the contractors work and mine thought they did a great job. Everyone we found on Angies List was prompt and professional but Continental was just more polished and comprehensive then the rest. ---- Continental Landscaping ?rocks" the house!
Description of Work: Design and build two planting areas in front of our home. Also remove almost half of our driveway and replace it with pavers.

Everything went very well. Tony met with us before submitting a proposal and listened to our needs and ideas. He provided us with a detailed proposal and took the time to meet with us to review the proposal and answer any questions, as well as review his credentials, background, and accreditations. After we accepted his proposal, he was cooperative about making any corrections or adjustments to the contract and did so promptly. Tony started our project on schedule and we found his crew was extremely hard-working, professional, friendly, and punctual. The workmanship on the landscaping and the hardscaping was excellent and Tony was very flexible about making any changes or corrections in order to make us happy. He finished the project on time and provided us with adequate instructions on how to care for the new lawn and landscaping. He was also available via phone or e-mail to answer any questions about plant and lawn care after the project was finished. Although we have experienced one minor problem with yard drainage in one area of our front yard since the project was installed, Tony responded to and examined the problem promptly and last week installed a repair. We are hopeful that will fix the problem, but remain confident that Tony will stand behind his work if any further action is needed. We've had a very positive experience thus far with Continental, Tony, and his crew, and would not hesitate to hire them again for another project. We're very happy with the results of their work and have received several compliments from neighbors and friends.
Description of Work: Repair approximately 15,000 square feet of disturbed area in our front and back yard that was damaged by tree removals. Involved raking and grading the ground, putting down topsoil and earthlife, and seeding and covering with straw. Removed all bushes from front of house and installed new bushes, mulched area. Removed concrete front walk, excavated area, and replaced with a paver walkway, as well as installing pavers as veneer on front porch. Installed triangular garden at end of front walk. Installed small garden with trees and bushes at end of driveway. Installed 3 bushes in back yard on side of porch.

Everything went great. We are very particular and do a lot of homework before selecting people to do work for us. This company came highly recommended. They met and exceeded our expectations. They were timely, professional, courteous, and meticulous. Our phone calls and messages were returned promptly. All questions were answered. It turns out there was a lot more concrete to be excavated than first assumed. It went very deep. No complaints from Tony and his guys. They got it all up nicely. The workmanship was excellent, and when we asked for some touching up afterward (some sand between the pavers had washed out following heavy rain), he came out quickly. We had a great overall experience and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We had to replace our front and back patios. The last contractors which were referred to us from a friend botched up the job in the front. The concrete work was ugly and looked unfinished. The back had concrete that had cracks from old age. It was also graded incorrectly. Continental landscaping installed around 160 square feet of pavers in the front and 285 square feet in the back. Both turned out beautifully. Tony (owner) drew up a creative design which had a circular pattern.

Continental was the most responsive to our original requests for estimates among three companies contacted. They were extremely accomodating to our requests in the contract proposal in terms of the stone selected and our request to save some existing plants. The pricing for the amount of work done was a great value compared to other estimates. The communication was excellent along the way regarding start times and status. This was a significant strong point of this vendor in our opinion. The work was completed in two days and we had nothing but compliments from the neighbors. Continental's strengths are expertise with stone and hardscape design as well as excellent customer service and communication by Tony. He spent significant time with us to make sure things went well.
Description of Work: Continental replaced our front walkway, refinished the front step and replaced all the front plants. The plants were designed to be low maintenance and included decorative rock instead of mulch. An existing drainage issue was addressed by cutting a swail in the front yard and replacing the grass with sod.

Chuck and his crew surpassed our expectations once again with a beautiful job well done! They dug out 2 flower beds for me to plant in our front lawn, installed a corner retaining wall at the front of our home for a raised garden bed, made a dry river bed/path/French drain along the side of our home, extended a downspout pipe underground, and mulched the beautifully landscaped hill they installed for us last fall. The work was done on time as promised even though they are an extremely busy company which I m sure is a result of the wonderful work they do. The crew is a pleasure to have working at your home, always courteous, and smiling!! I very highly recommend them!!!
