I had several other companies estimate my patio replacement, and I am really glad I hired continental. Tony, the owner, came out and did the estimate. I can't say enough about Tony and his team, they blew away my expectations. Easily the best contractor I have ever hired. They were extremely detail-oriented, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and exactly as I wanted it, the communication was great. Tony stopped by several times to check in on the job. There is no other company to hire other than these guys. I will 100% be using them for future projects.

Tony Verzi and Continental Landscaping do amazing work and I highly recommend them! They did a fantastic job on a challenging project and transformed our backyard into an oasis for our family. My wife and I wanted to build a patio and had a general idea about what we wanted and engaged several contractors for design options. Fortunately for us, Continental Landscaping was one of those contractors. We shared with Tony that we were looking for a paver patio with an integrated firepit and he came back with several creative options and the best design. He was very prompt to answer any questions we had and worked with us to implement our own additions into his design plan. Our patio and yard are now our favorite parts of the house thanks to Tony and Continental Landscaping! Tony was great to work with and very engaged and responsive through the entire lifecycle of the project. He proactively communicated with my wife and I during every phase and brings an old school customer service approach to his projects which is very refreshing to see these days. He takes pride in his work and it shows. Tony was ON SITE for the entire 12 day project, he also had a crew foreman and project manager that oversaw the work and they left no detail unchecked. It was awesome that he didn't just leave the work to his crew and come back when it was finished. He was very professional, very hands on, and it made for a phenomenal finished product. I can’t say enough good things about Tony and his crew. They have a high quality of craftsmanship as well as being on time and on budget for large projects like ours. If you are looking for a patio, deck or landscaping, call Tony! Ric & Beverly Kreiger Severn, MD

We had a great experience with Continental. Michael met me at my house to discuss options for a walkway and extending my existing flower beds. He was very knowledgeable, he offered to drop off paver samples to my home to consider, and he was always responsive when I had questions. When the crew came out to perform the work, they were wonderful. They completed the job in one day and it looks great!

I needed a new patio and I found Continental Landscaping on Angie’s List. They had good reviews and their price, while not inexpensive, was comparable to the other 2 companies I met with. In the end, I was very pleased with their service. I met with Tony Verzi, the owner, at my house and told him I needed a new patio. He quickly showed me what he would recommend and I decided to trust his expertise. I also needed a new landing and stairs and was relieved to hear that they could do that as well. (Another company that I worked with before and trusted did not have an expert in that area). Tony kept me updated over the next few weeks about when he thought they could start the project as rain is always a factor. Within a few weeks, the workers came, along with Tony the first day to make sure we were all set. After a few days, the patio set in place, the landing/stairs installed, and it looks wonderful! The team also did a great job cleaning up and setting the sod back, as well as putting down grass seed for the areas that had been dug up and were still showing. I highly recommend Continental Landscaping!

This work was done in May-June of 2019. Tony was attentive from the beginning. He offered excellent proposals and insights, listened to our needs and concerns, and created the perfect project design. His crew was highly skilled and hard working. Tony offered suggestions for improvements along the way, and didn’t charge us for minor changes. The project was completed - the patio, pergola and cover, built in grill and bar, patio wall, and around the house landscape lighting - within the time and budget to which we agreed. And we are beyond thrilled with his workmanship and professionalism, and our new outdoor space. We wish we had another project so we could work with Tony again. This was by far my best contractor experience in 25 years.

My new patio is absolutely gorgeous, and I’m so glad I made the decision to hire Continental for my project! Tony provided a creative design that works perfectly for my property. His hard-working crew made it happen, with a few adjustments along the way. Kudos to Oscar, who oversaw the job as if it were his own. At the end, the team cleaned up and manicured the job site beautifully. I admit I was apprehensive about this, but when I came home and saw the final results, I was thrilled. I would unequivocally recommend Continental Landscaping to anyone looking for hardscaping, and will definitely call on them for future projects!
By far, Continental Landscaping is the most impressive, professional and top-notch landscape company we've ever worked with. Actually made the project pleasant. Continental performed the installation of our pool decking using pavers. I interviewed five landscaping companies before making a selection. For each meeting I asked the same questions and asked multiple follow up questions. I requested written cost proposals from each so that I was comparing fairly across each company and it was an apples-to-apples comparison. Most of my questions were geared toward the techniques and processes used to prepare the base. For paver patios, the base preparation is one of the most important phases in the project. If not done properly, the hardscaping material on the top can appear good initially, but generally will not last many years. Tony explained their process in great detail, explained why they do it a certain way, and provided a reasonably priced estimate for the level of work provided in a timely fashion. From the initial meeting on, Tony promised to take care of us and provide excellent service and craftsmanship; and that is what happened. Everything they did was by the book and based on or exceeded industry best practices. This project required a thorough understanding of the pool construction process and unique requirements. This was to ensure the pool warranty is supported. Tony knew this stuff in great detail and provided additional expertise and guidance through the process. Some of the underlying base preparation involves tamping the ground which is a process to compact layers of soil, gravel and sand. There were hundreds of feet of trenches where the pool PVC plumbing routed around the pool. Each trench had multiple PVC plastic pipes. The crew hand tamped delicately around each piece, to ensure none of the plumbing comes even close to being damaged or could be potentially damaged. Some other companies used machines or just back-filled the trenches and compacted the layer at the very top one time. Continental separately tamped at multiple layers with great care. The implementation crew worked nearly non-stop, seem to take great pride in their work and paid attention to detail. All work was performed skillfully and with care for the property. Cutting paver blocks properly has its challenges and cutting them to a curve is more difficult. Cutting to a curve, making it appear fluid, and having to leave a 1/4 inch gap between the paver and the pool's edge requires a lot of skill. The project was all curves. The level of detail was astounding. The communication and hand-off between the Foreman Oscar and Tony was seamless; if we had a question, both would be accessible within moments, if not onsite. They communicated with us constantly making sure we were consulted on all updates and changes. Before any major decision or cut they would take the time to explain what was next, check in to make sure we liked the direction and work on another area so we could finalize our decisions before anything was permanent. In areas that we weren’t quite sure as to what we wanted they offered their expertise and design assistance. We requested some changes to the requirements in the middle of the project, making their job harder and they accommodated each with professionalism while still managing to keep everything on schedule and deliver an incredible final product. After the completion of the project, there was one minor update we needed assistance with. Within 24 hours, the Foreman Oscar came over and resolved it. This follow up work was done with the same care and finesse as the entire project as he took additional time to make sure we were completely happy the work. This again made it clear Continental stood by their work and made us look forward to working again with them in the future for other projects.
Description of Work: Paver patio hardscaping for pool decking
Couldn’t be happier! The team was professional, timely and their work was impressive. The design that Tony helped us with was realized perfectly. Additionally, Tony went above and beyond by helping us coordinate work with the schedules of two other contractors that we had doing overlapping work. Price was very fair. I will definitely recommend Tony to anyone thinking about hardscaping,
Description of Work: Added a paver patio, carved out a hill for a sitting retaining wall and added two stone staircases plus a adjoining paver walkway between our gazebo and new patio. Additionally, added lighting throughout, a shed pad and used extra dirt to level backyard.

Description of Work: Tony and his team triples the size of one garden bed and created a beautiful planted area. They also put in underground drains for two downspouts. They created a berm and planted with a lovely selection placed beautifully. They also replaced “stepping stones” with a block walkway near my sunroom.

Overall I couldn't be more pleased with the project. Tony, the owner, was very easy to work with and was involved in the project from beginning to end. The project focused on regrading the backyard to prevent water buildup around the foundation of the house as well at to create an outdoor living area that the whole family could enjoy. Mission was accomplished in both areas. While the project was completed over 8 months ago, there have been times we have received heavy doses of rain and in every case we have had no issues of water accumulation. The family has also spent more time outdoors enjoying the new patio and fire pit over the last 8 months than they did the existing deck over a 2-3 year period. Of note, the patio design needed to be changed from its original plan due to issues with exterior vents and patio door access. Tony provided great ideas to address the changes and the overall finished product turned out to be better than the original plan. The changes however did cause me to go over my initial budget but in the end it was well worth it. In addition, the crew involved with the day to day project worked extremely hard and it shows in the finished product.
Description of Work: Removed existing wood deck, regraded backyard, installed two tier paver patio with exterior lighting and fire pit. Also installed a retaining wall and stone veneer on the rear side of the house.
It went perfectly. (5 stars / A+++) Tony (and his crew) worked seamlessly with my pool company - despite my pool company shifting and moving the schedule for when landscaping could start several times. When we were finally ready for Continental Landscaping to get started, we had rain (almost every other day for a week), occasional freezing temperatures - and yet they showed up and found ways to get work done, on-time and at the contracted price. They did so much (great) work it's hard to summarize it all but here's a brief recap - DESIGN: I had a rough idea of what I thought I wanted, but Tony came out and talked with me to understand what I was actually aiming to do, what my budget was, and what kinds of materials/designs appealed to me. During our initial meeting, we talked for over an hour and covered everything from elevation changes, drainage, concerns I had... you name it - we discussed it. A couple days later, Tony presented quote that was within my budget and clearly identified what he would do. After accepting the quote, Tony developed a scale CAD that encompassed everything we had discussed. The big take away from this was that everything we discussed was taken seriously, accounted for, and not glossed over. Tony's pricing was fair and transparent and in hindsight, for the quality of the workmanship that I received - a true bargain. PATIO: Tony built a multi-tiered paver patio with a grilling area and lounging/dining area that wrapped around our pool. His crew meticulously measured and accounted for grading at all phases of the construction. The stairs that lead from my backdoor to the upper tier were built by excavating a massive amount of material, back-filling with compacted stone, pouring a substantial concrete pad... all before a single paver was ever laid. The rest of the patio was carefully designed and installed around a gas pipes, pool piping, electrical lines, coping tiles, and flower beds. Tony and his crew met or exceeded ICPI standards at all phases of the project. When the design needed to be adjusted to account for additional grading challenges or aesthetics - they did it - often times by telling me what they were going to do to fix a problem after they had already identified it and devised a great solution. One of the most impressive parts was that all of these "little" changes (i.e. a small retaining wall to hold back dirt at a flower bed, a small tapering wall to account for my yard slope, etc.), there was never a surcharge. Let me repeat that last part because it's so rare it's worth repeating.... They made their great design better - without me needing to ask - and they didn't ask me to pay extra fees. This is the mark of a truly professional company that cares about doing the job right. SOD: The only thing I've ever successfully grown is crabgrass, nutsedge weed, and clover, so when it came time for sod, I was excited. Mother-nature however, had other plans. Mainly rain, lots of rain. Despite soggy ground, and afternoon showers, his crew dug up/scraped my entire yard - mostly by hand - and then brought in quality topsoil... by wheelbarrow. At any given moment, there were roughly 4 wheelbarrows shuttling between my front yard (where the material was in their truck) and backyard (where the material had to go). While 2 guys spread the soil - by hand (rake), while another guy stayed at the truck to shovel material. Bear in mind, this was all taking place while my yard was essentially a muck-pit of soggy, rain-soaked dirt that if you stood still for a couple seconds, you'd sink up to your ankles. They spent a full 2+ days scraping weeds up and hauling in dirt before they laid the sod. The sod was laid so tightly (which is how it's supposed to be done) that I literally couldn't find seams when they were done. They also did a great job shaping/cutting the sod so that it contoured perfectly to the "free-form" pool shape. MULCH: Tony called me near the end of the project to discuss some ideas he had to nicely finish off the job and give my backyard a completed/finished look. One of the major things was applying a heavy fresh layer of topsoil and building some bigger/larger flower beds. If you work with Tony - and I highly recommend you do - you should trust his advice/guidance. I did and I couldn't be happier. He was completely correct - the slight addition to the work, tied everything together and gave me the best looking backyard I've ever had. He also made the suggestion that we do a bed of river rock around our pool equipment. I wasn't home when he called me with that suggestion, but he explained his idea clearly and after working for a couple weeks with Tony - I learned to trust his judgement. When I came home and saw what he had done - I was thrilled. He ripped out the grass that was around my pool equipment, put down geotextile fabric, installed an aluminum retaining strip, and filled the area with river rock. Brilliant. I don't know how I would have ever weed-wacked or mowed grass around my pool equipment... and now, I won't ever have to. It's the little, well thought through details like this that make Tony's work standout from every other landscaper's work I've ever seen. LIGHTING: As part of the patio project, Tony suggested some low voltage lights in the steps and our flower beds. They look awesome. Truly. The lights were installed during the paver portion of the project and are beautiful. The steps are lit up with a discrete light that provides enough light to "not trip on the stairs", but not so much that you are blinded by light if you're trying to enjoy a fire-pit or quiet night under the stars. THE CREW: There is no way Tony could have ever done all this work alone, so the quality and professionalism of his crew is also worth noting. Tony's crew was great. They showed up promptly every morning, and didn't leave in the evening until everything was swept up and clean. Literally, everything. They would sweep my driveway, street, sidewalks, etc., all after working 8+ hours and often as the sun was setting or later. I never had to worry about coming home to a mess or having neighbors complain. Watching Tony's crews work was awesome - there were general between 4-9 guys working **** ** any given day. My pool company's project manager stopped by my backyard one day while I wasn't there and while I was on the phone with him he gladly told me that he has been in this business for a long time, but even he couldn't believe how hard Tony's crew was working and how well their work was coming out. SUMMARY: It's worth noting that ALL of my other contractors (pool, plumber, etc.) and several of my neighbors all knew Tony, his work, and his crews - and everybody - literally everybody had good things to say about him. There was something very reassuring knowing that the company and people you contracted with have been in the business for a while, have built a solid reputation, and truly do great work. I'm looking forward to working with Tony on several additional projects in the spring.
Description of Work: Tony and his awesome crew at Continental Landscaping designed and installed a gorgeous, roughly 1,400 sq ft multi-tiered paver patio (which also wrapped around my pool), sodded my yard, mulched all of my flower beds, and installed low voltage lighting.

I highly recommend Tony and his crew, we had an awful muddy slope problem causing muddy runoff onto an existing patio whenever it rains. Tony really listened to us and his recommendations/vision along with his great crew have completely stopped our mud problem. With all this rain we have had, we have no mud and a beautiful wall now with a larger patio. We definitely will hire them again.

This went extremely well. it is due to Tony's totalprofessionalism, experience as a civil engineer, and extreme attentiveness to detail. He was out a number of times to survey and get precise measurements. He is gift in landscape and architectural design - particulary for this project, using river stones in his foresight, to prevent erosion. He also used large beautiful stone blocks for the stairs built into patio and pool decking. A wonderful job by Continental landscaping! Thanks Tony _ Marge and Bob

Tony worked with me to design a patio for my back yard. He listened carefully to what I was looking for and designed, then built, a beautiful patio that fit in my budget. They did such a great job that I then had them fix my carport (chipped concrete), then expanded to have him design and build the front walkway to my house (including lighting) so it was consistent in appearance with the patio in the back. Extremely happy with the work they did. I highly recommend them!

Thank you [Member Name Removed]. I really appreciate the review and look forward to working with you again. Tony
Tony Verzi and his team worked together to build us 2 beautiful patios, complete with lighting and landscaping. When we were considering getting the patios, we interviewed several companies. We chose Continental Landscaping for a few reasons. First, Tony, the owner, was the person who came out to give us the estimate. He was incredibly knowledgeable and even pushed back on some of our original design plans that wouldn’t have been structurally sound, nor aesthetically pleasing. Other contractors merely nodded their heads “yes” to everything we mentioned. Further, Tony and his team installed all of the paver “sample scapes” at The Stone Store. Seeing their work in person was a huge discriminator for the competition. Finally, Tony was one of the few estimates that was cost-competitive and included a CAD rendering of our plans. Our patios, which total about 450 square feet and include sitting walls, lighted columns, and a fire pit, were installed in less than a week by a hardworking, courteous team that included Tony. In the end, we are beyond thrilled with the design and build of our patios and we would highly recommend Tony and Continental Landscaping to anyone looking to add some beauty and function to their homes.

We had another company put in pavers years ago, but we continually had weeds growing between the pavers and the pavers shifted and started to sink and funnel rain water toward the house. When Tony came out he worked with us to redesign the area so along with the initial patio he recommended a wall to sit on and give the patio more definition. They replaced the wooden stairs with pavers and then built another pavers patio on the other side of our sun room to provide another private space for people. He also provided landscaping to finish the project. Once started he found the previous company laid the pavers directly on the ground with no base. He worked with us to make the larger job affordable as he needed to take up the entire patio and basically start from scratch. He focused on quality and the deck was properly laid down and sealed. I have waited a year to write a review to see how it lasted through the winter. It is still beautiful and sound and we look forward to using it extensively this summer. I would recommend Tony and Continental to anyone. Let him work with you as he has a wealth of experience and great ideas.
Description of Work: Replaced old patio. It was so poorly done he had to start from scratch but worked with us to keep cost down. Not just replaced the old patio he added several features that make the patio more functional and beautiful. First class workers. Just cleaned and sealed and the entire patio still meets all our expectations.

The work was done beautifully, and Continental was very helpful in developing the appearance and materials for the project. We went into the project with a general idea of what we wanted, and the salesperson was creative as well as thorough in pointing out our options. The only problem we encountered was that the salesman was not a great communicator - a bit testy when asked for references, difficult to reach once the job was spec'd. We experienced some weeks where we could not get him to respond at all, so had to leave messages with the main office, trying to find out when we were scheduled. The owner responded to two VM's left at the main number and was most helpful once he became engaged. That said, we would certainly use them again.

The installation of the wall was perfect, all of the workers are very professional and always on time. We had numerous communication difficulties with the salesman who originally came out and drew up the plans and quoted us the price, and the job foreman. Plans that were discussed were not clear in the contract, causing confusion. However, the foreman was very respectful, worked out the difficulties, and called in his supervisor when needed. The salesman is no longer employed at Continental and all problems were solved to our satisfaction. The garden wall is beautiful and achieved our goal of keeping the mulch from sliding down our hill, and the project did not contribute further to our drainage issue. I would use Continental Landscaping again, without hesitation.

They arrived on time everyday, worked hard, and cleaned up after themselves when they were done. We couldn't be happier with the finished product. Our patio is beautiful, and exactly what we wanted. We have and will continue to recommend Continental Landscaping to our friends and family.
Description of Work: Put in a stone patio with a sitting wall and regraded our backyard.

Continental Landscaping was one of most professional groups that I've ever dealt with. Tony (the owner) was very kind and patient with me (my husband and I had originally contracted him to re-do our brick driveway that had been done incorrectly). After my husband had passed away, I contacted Tony and we met to go over the contract and the plans to do the front of the house. I had changed some of the original plans and had them put an additional pad on the side of the house for additional cars. He also did large pavers with rocks on the side of the house where it is very difficult for individuals to walk to the back of the house. He put lights under the large bay window for accent under the raised flower bed. The work was so beautiful -- I had many neighbors stop and ask me who did the work --- I was so pleased with everything they did. The second job was much larger and it was in the back of the house. I had them build a two tiered deck that stretched the entire length of the house. There are many lights positioned on the deck as well as the steps. The deck has a water drainage system that takes the rain/melted snow away from the house. The drainage system beside the house was re-routed and every one of his workers knew exactly what to do. I had pavers placed under the deck and extending out into the yard. Also had a lighted water fountain built with pillars that looks beautiful!!!! Landscaping was done with evergreens and ornamental grasses, as well as sod laid down over the entire area. The crew arrived very early every day (7:00 a.m.) and worked all day until 5:00 p.m. They were all good workers and very dedicated to the task at hand. The foreman of the crew (Oscar) was excellent --- and went out of his way to ensure the work being done was what I wanted. HE IS EXCEPTIONAL WITH DESIGNING THE PAVERS!!!! If I could give Continental Landscaping a better grade than an "A" I would. Unfortunately my husband passed away in March and was not here to see any of this work being done. Since he designed and built new contemporary homes for a living for 30-years, I know he would have been very pleased!!! I plan on using them again in the near future!!!
Description of Work: Built a new two tier deck on the back of house with extensive lighting. Also built a pilar water fall fountain to the back of the patio with new trees and ornamental grass surrounding a small creek.
