Wonderful! All the companies I called were booked because of the heat wave. The owner of Ambient, Brian answered and said he could come in 45 minutes. He was prompt, diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes (broken capacitor), fixed it in 15 minutes and the cost was very reasonable.

It stopped working all of a sudden shortly after my son replaced the air filter. The door on the front wasn't replaced correctly which shuts of the cooling and heating off. The owner himself showed up and assessed the problem and took care of it. He placed the door back on the unit correctly and inserted and additional screw.

I have been quite pleased with Ambient. Bottom line: just as their description reads, Ambient is a small business interested in providing excellent service - they are courteous and professional. My experience with the company began with a service call in August due to our A/C malfunctioning (coils freezing over). Ambient came out a couple times to troubleshoot the system and kept it system going to get our family through a few hot days. We replaced the coils in the air handler, but learned that the coils in the A/C unit were also bad. We opted to replace the unit, but wait until after the winter to have the work done. When I contacted Ambient in the Spring (a few months later) they brought up my information from the previous service call, as well as the price previously quoted. They came out within a couple days and installed the new unit.

My AC wasn't working, we found that the freon was low. That was reloaded and the contactor was changed in the outside unit.

He came out a few times due to a problem that BGE technicians couldn't solve and a destroyed defrost board. He came immediately at no extra charge and his prices were better than 3 other companies we called in Annapolis and Arnold. I had a small issue with my settings and the next day he came right back out. Can't believe his professionalism, where have all the other service people gone? Many could take a lesson from this family owned small business. Would ABSOLUTELY use this company again. We actually plan on using this company for annual servicing. One company actually said because of the weather we would have to wait 3 weeks, Ambient came the same day- unbelievable.

We recently moved to a new home and, when the weather started getting colder, we discovered that the HVAC system was really out of whack. The system was installed on the far end of the house in the MBR which turned the nearest two bedrooms into saunas and left the rest of the house freezing. We tried a number of solutions but all of them failed. We interviewed three A-rated Angie's List companies before calling Ambient. As soon as we called, Bryan was able to come take a look immediately. He was the only professional who bothered to go into our crawlspace before giving us his recommendations and, when he did give us his recommendations, he explained exactly how much each would help solve the problem. He gave us very reasonable quotes and went out of his way to make sure we were well-informed about the whole process. During the job itself Bryan and his coworkers were both friendly and professional. They took great care to keep us informed as they worked, were extremely polite and cordial, and all of them were happy to answer the occasional question from my curious 4 year old daughter. I honestly can't say enough good things about them. We look forward to working with them again this spring, when we plan to start another project. And now here's a second review from my brother, who lives with us and has been a contractor for over 20 years: Simply put Bryan and, by extension Ambient, is who I want doing all my HVAC work. He and I discussed the issues. He listened to my concerns, addressed them, and did everything he said he would do. The other companies we talked to never crawled into the crawl space. They claimed they would need to dig the crawl space out and add access ports, even though I had crawled under the home to pull new wires and I'm 6 feet tall and extremely wide shouldered. Of all the companies we'd talked to Bryan was the only person to actually go inside the crawl space and get a look at the ducts before diagnosing the problem. Long story short use Bryan and Ambient. You won't regret the choice. Based on others that were supposedly "high rated" that wouldn't even check below the house, you likely would regret going elsewhere.

We interviewed three of Angie's List A-rated companies that specialized in heating and cooling.. Two were relatively large companies that provided Carrier and Lennox equipment and one was a small business that provided Trane equipment. We selected Ambient Cooling and Heating to handle the complex requirements of this project. 1. We needed to replace a 40-year-old gas furnace. We decided that it would also include a whole-house air purifier, a whole-house humidifier and a programmable thermostat. 2. We needed a new 40-gal gas water heater 3. Finally, we needed a 3 ton 18 seer central air conditioner system. We selected Ambient Cooling & Heating for the project. Of the 3 companies we invited into our home to inspect the current system and provide an estimate for completion of all our requirements, Bryan Satterfield of Ambient Cooling & Heating provided us with the most impressive proposal of the 3 interviewed. He provided the most professional discussion of what we needed and why; made an excellent case for purchasing Trane; answered all of my many questions with patience and poise; and demonstrated total technical competence. My husband and I agreed that Bryan was the man we wanted to handle this job. Bryan owns the business and installs all of the equipment himself along with the assistance of one helper, John. During the week following our signing a contract with Ambient, I called Bryan many times (probably too many) with questions I had forgotten to ask regarding specific equipment that had been recommended by Consumer Reports. Each time, he worked patiently and professionally through my questions and tracked down specific items that I wanted to consider in the project. He, for example, explored for me the costs of new extra quiet versions (55 decibles vs 72) of 2 ton and 3 ton Trane A/Cs. On the day that he began installation (certainly too late for most contractors), I inquired about a Lennox Whole House Air Purifier recommended by Consumer Reports. As noted above, Bryan was always patient, professional and service-oriented when I made a request. Although he had brought an Aprilaire whole-house air purifier for installation, he immediately contacted his suppliers and tracked down the specific Lennox whole-house air purifier recommended in Consumer Reports. He arranged to have the item shipped overnight; thus, he was able to install it the very next day in my Trane gas furnace. My husband and I were very surprised and pleased by Bryan's professional attitude and client-oriented philosophy. He certainly went "substantially above and beyond" the call of duty. I could go on and on in great detail but I will cut this review short and say that I would definitely hire Ambient Cooling and Heating again and strongly recommend him to you.

It went quite well. I have a brand new home (about 2 years old) and my upstairs bedrooms were not cooling effectively and I wanted to understand the root cause. I received a deal from Angie List and hired "Ambient Cooling & Heating LLC" to conduct an inspection. During inspection we found out the AC filter needs to be replaced. I also learned a trick to add bleach down the drain to avoid excessive algae and possible blockage/leakage. When we went outside, we discovered the coolant was low and added the appropriate amount per the instruction written on the unit (this was extra charge). I also went to home depot and replaced the air filter. Ambient Cooling & Heating LLC also recommended different courses of actions for me to take to assure the cool air is being distributed efficiently. I prepaid $49 for an air conditioning tune-up. The technician inspected the air conditioner, cleaned it, and added Freon. The technician didn't tell me there would be an additional cost before doing the work and just handed me a bill for $450 when he was done.

Ambient originally came out late in the evening for a non functional AC unit on a hot day. Ambient fixed the fan and module as quickly as possible and was willing to bend over backwards to help because of the heat. He was very knowledgeable, easy to deal with, and helpful with HVAC questions.

Bryan came out to our house and looked over our system. We have used him before and appreciate his honesty and patience in answering all of our questions. We never felt pressured or overwhelmed when talking to him. Since this was a big job, we wanted to make sure we asked all the right questions and understood what to expect once the job was complete. Our system was old, so we knew it was time to either start patching it year after year or replace it. After weighting all the options that he and other compaies provided us, we decided to replace it. We chose Bryan because of his honesty and professionalism. He wanted to make sure we are happy and pleased with his work. It took 2 days like he planned. First day was only a couple hours to remove the old system and the next day to install the new one. He didn't mind us asking quesitons while he worked. When he was done, the work area was clean and the system looks and works great.

Bryan came to the house on time. He was very pleasant. He inspected/serviced the HVAC unit and gave me some maintenance tips. The unit was operating well and some parts needed a slight cleaning. He seems to really know his stuff regarding HVAC.

The technician was very professional and polite, and completed the work in record time. He quickly diagnosed the problem and found that the circuit board was out of commission. He made a quick trip to get the replacement par,t and replaced the circuit board in about 15 minutes. Soon after, the furnace was properly running and pumping heat throughout the entire home, which was a big relief since we just received a big snow storm. I highly recommend using Ambient Cooling and Heating for any heating issues.

They were great. They were punctual, professional and went above and beyond. I did purchase additional services from them because we had a part that was bad and he went and checked the warranty information on the part that we had. We did not have the warranty, but he still gave us some discount. When he came to do the work, the warehouse mistakenly did not put the part in the truck and he went back to the warehouse, got the part and came back to get the job done. The system works a lot better than earlier. He was excellent. We did end up in signing a contract with them as well to do the maintenance. It is an excellent company.

The provider did find an issue with our hvac unit and replaced a part. There was a slight up charge but the service was great.

Everything went pretty well. They came out on time and did his best to do the work that was included in the deal.

The service was fine. It is hard to judge on this one because they came to service something that was working fine. Including the $79 Bid Deal, I think I paid another $100 or $150 for the part they had replaced so I think it was around $225 total. I had some scheduling issues that were on my side of things so they were very understanding about that. They had some switching around the scheduling.

Brian was on time for first visit but running late for later date when he performed service at another property. He is a fast, efficient, can-do kind of guy. He is knowledgeable about HVAC issues and takes pride in his work. I strongly recommend him.

I scheduled a date with the contractor after informing them that my air conditioning unit was located on the roof. The contractor said he would bring a 6 Ft ladder. The contractor showed up without a ladder and did not perform the service.
