They did a great job. They took out the heavy, old water heater from the basement, and installed a new one. They showed us how it works. It was done in less than a day. They called before they came, everything was done professionally.
Description of Work: They installed the water heater.

They did pretty well. We checked them out versus two other competitors on Angie's List. They seemed to have the best ideas and lowest prices. They offered a window unit as well.
Description of Work: They came out and tried to fix our air conditioning unit. We decided to have it replaced.

What to do when the hub is out of town, the three nephews (all under age of 10) are visiting, your client is coming to your home office for an appointment, and nasty water starts gurgling out of the first floor shower drain? You get on the phone until you find someone who can get there pronto and bail you out. No time to quibble about the cost. The Vito technician arrived within one hour, located the blockage, cut out some of the main drain line, removed the blockage and repaired the line. Total time on site was about 2-1/2 hours. Problem fixed for $495. The pipe repair on the PVC drain line is pretty messy, but it doesn't leak. Granted, the tech the company sends out to unclog sewage lines is not likely to be the Da Vinci of plastic pipe fitting, but I am still looking at this joint and trying to figure out what the brown stuff is smeared on the repaired area. Bottom line is that Vito showed up quick and fixed the problem. I am not too happy about the cost, but this was no time to be getting estimates. Their cleanup was OK, but not quite 100%. A word of advice for everyone....do not use those premoistened wipers that the manufacturer says are safe for all septic systems. They may be "safe", but they do not appear to dissolve in water like regular toilet paper. They were the major culprit for the drain blockage.

Employees overall were quite professional. Work quality was excellent. We had only one complaint-they weren't careful enough to cover our carpet and left stains by the furnace closet, and a trail is from the door where they brought equipment in and out. To be fair to company, they had agreed to come look at the stains and try and fix them, but we had a deadline for showing the house and had to go ahead with a professional carpet cleaning anyway.
Description of Work: First had company evaluate our A/C system which wasn't keeping up, and there was a lot of condensate. Initial evaluation was low Freon. Added Freon. Problem remained, we recontacted. Second evaluation determined that previous installation of new inline cooling coil by another company 3 years ago was improper (wrong size, bad installation, poor venting) and replacement with new proper sized unit warranted. Agreed to have them install new coil.

The verdict---Home Air Services really deserves straight A's for outstanding quality of service, top professionalism and a seamless stress-free process from start to finish! The positive reviews are indeed true. When you call Home Air Services you really speak to dedicated professionals, which is the first part of a positive experience, it is not simply a matter of scheduling and selling, but really understanding what the options are (see details below). The second part is fairness, in price, but also in what is being sold, being offered several options to choose from in replacing only part of an A/C system (in my case the air handler) when the remainder(heat pump)is recent and fully functional. The third part is the installation itself, done punctually by experienced professionals who are able to respond to any problems that arise in the process so that the job is done by the end of the day (additional duct metal work was promptly dispatched during the installation). Although this is fairly recent, I am confident that this will be followed up by equally high standards of after-sales service and preventive maintenance. I joined Angie's list to look for alternatives to two disappointing A/C companies used in our community, and having checked out three more that were highly rated, I was confident that Home Air Services would be the best, even before I obtained all the quotes. The very first time I called, Donald was very knowledgeable and explained the alternatives between repair and replacement. Since we had a mold problem in the old insulating material, he referred me to an excellent independent mold remediation expert that came out to inspect the unit the next day (see other report I posted), and scheduled a follow-up appointment with an A/C technician for me the day after. When I decided to replace the unit, Lionel came out to give me an estimate, listening to my concerns and offering solutions by thoroughly explained what the various options would be. This involved a breakdown of the costs, the pros and cons of each option and all the technical information (explained in non-technical terms) that I needed to think this through. I was particularly relieved that various models of air handlers would be compatible with the heat pump I had recently installed because other companies had tried to sell me a package including a new heat pump for twice the price! This was followed by a brief visit by an installation expert, Tom, to take photos and all necessary measurements to facilitate the installation. As a result, the installation (by Critt and Johnny) went very very smoothly, and was expertly and carefully done, with special care for packing the old unit away without agitating the mold, covering the floors and furniture. Throughout this time, Vicky, back at the office, coordinated all the scheduling and dispatch of technicians within short notice and at convenient times.

This is the second company we've had come to figure out what is going on with the a/c. The first person, different company, was a disaster. Home Air was amazing. Their technician was prompt, professional and informative. He worked quickly and explained the problem to us. We will continue to use this company.

The drain for our air conditioner is in our attic and needed to be cleaned. A technician stayed with me on the phone and walked me through how to clean it. He was very honest and stated that he could save me $400 by just walking me through the process over the phone instead of charging me to send someone out. Instead it was only $140 for the cleaning and maintenance. I had read some positive things about them as well and would agree with all of it. They are excellent and provide excellent service. I would absolutely use them again in the future and would recommend them to others as well.

The work went very well. The contractor was very resourceful and created a solution that he made himself out of pieces of metal that he cut to size. He was very persistent and basically made a new bracket to hold the filter which stopped the leaking. I was very happy with the work.

This company was fabulous. The woman on the phone listened carefully to my issue/concern and decided to send us 'just the guy'. I forgot his name, but he really was perfect for us. He came on time at 7:30 am and got to work. He explained how it would be difficult, but not impossible to heat/a/c part of the house (the attic) as it currently is designed, but would be perfectly reasonable to work on the basement and he gave us options as to who could eventually do this. I had to leave for work, but my husband said that he was efficient evaluating the a/c problem and fixing it so that he got to work close to on time.
Description of Work: We are looking into renovating parts of our house and wanted to have someone look at the feasibility of adding proper heating/AC as what we currently have doesn't properly service the entire house. Plus, our a/c didn't work properly at all last summer.

Terrible, terrible. We called Thursday night during the onset of a heat wave when we realized our A/C wasn't working. We left a message; no call back. After calling again and reaching a live person, made an appointment for Saturday between 12:00 pm - 4 pm. We waited and waited in 98 degree heat. No one came. No calls. Nothing. When we left a message for the "emergency technician," he finally called back hours later. He was rude, exceedingly unhelpful and sarcastic, saying said he "couldn't fly to our house," that he had three calls ahead of ours, and he'd call when he thought he could get to us. When he finally called again, it was 8:30 pm. During the 8.5 hours we waited for Home Air Services, we were able to find someone else to come and fix the problem within two hours of placing a call. We will NEVER call this company again, and will make every effort to dissuade others from using them.

I was very impressed with the technician's thoroughness and patience. His explanations were very helpful and I requested a maintenance contract based on my experience.
Description of Work: The technician came out to service an air conditioner unit and inspect it because it was making a very loud noise every time it turned on. The technician was very thorough, patient and explained everything he was doing and how the AC unit functioned in detail. He checked the filter, put extra insulation around some parts of the AC unit and ran several tests to determine the cause the noise.

Never received an estimate. A week later, the representative called me stating that he had just faxed me the estimate. He stated that he was sorry for the delay, but he had to go on vacation. So much for customer service, and customer need.

We bought a beautifully-renovated 1890s house last July. Despite the home having a fancy dual-zone system that ran like crazy, the master bedroom was routinely 90 degrees. After poking around with a ladder, we discovered the main vents in that bedroom had never been connected! One had a flex line attached to it, but, after running a short way it was tied off like a sausage. Not only were we hot; we had that creeping feeling that comes of living with bad work. Jerry Kerwin from Home Air understood the situation immediately. He saw things we had missed; that a mystery model had been installed rather than the unit on the contract, and installed on a too-small safety pan, with inadequate wiring and ducts. Saying "they fixed it" may sound simple but it was anything but. Not only are we now much safer, and cooler, but looking at their beautiful work makes me happy. They even fixed things that had nothing to do with the job, like tacking up the attic insulation that was falling down.
Description of Work: The team from Home Air took away an attic air handler and an outdoor heat pump, then installed new ones. They added a return, sealed existing supply openings, created many new openings (some in very tight quarters), added safety cutoffs, extension boots, supply dampers, new copper refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, thermostats, and miles of flexible ductwork. We have a two-zone system; they not only completely replaced the upper one, but made the lower one (and the humidifier) work more efficiently. Instead of the ugly wires that used to run down the house, they put their wires inside a drainpipe that matched the real ones. Their clean-up rocked. Jerry was a knowledgeable salesman (he breathes HVAC history) who pitched in to work when needed. Tom was an intuitive foreman who figured out precisely where to drill through the wall, etc. I've never seen anyone work as hard and smart as Scott, with help from James. By the time the team left, everything worked better, even the doorbell.

They came and reset the HVAC system which had turned of the heating piece because it detected an air flow issue in the house. Took longer than I thought, but my unit is hard to access and had not been checked for some time. Apparently I have a heat pump with a back up gas furnace, which I did not realize, so there were two things to service. Whole visit was more than 1.5 hours, and it ended up making more sense financially to get the annual contract than to pay for the service - my Spring service will effectively only cost $7. Polite and helpful serviceman, and he turned up on time (and they called to say he could come earlier if I was at home, which I appreciated even though I wasn't there).

I called the company and made an appointment. Although they usually give a 4-hour time window, I needed it to be on the later side, and they happily accommodated me. The technician arrived on time. He spent about 45 minutes going over the furnace, then gave me a detailed report. It turns out that this company provides a service contract, and this includes twice-yearly inspections (i.e. heating and a/c) for slightly less than the price of the two service calls separately. It also allows me to be on a preferred customer list, so I'll get priority service and other perks. I happily signed up, and I'll probably be calling them back to install a humidifier onto my furnace in the near future!

The technician showed up within the allotted four hours. He was thorough and courteous and showed me everything in the furnace that he was doing. However, he was a bit difficult to understand (accent combined with fast-talker syndrome) and was a bit impatient with my questions, which were basic, since I know nothing about furnaces. The company quoted me a price of $96 for the check, but neglected to tell me a $40 surcharge is added for every 15 minutes he was there. I was annoyed by this omission. However, I still bought the contract which included a check of the A/C in the spring, because it was cheaper than had I arranged for it separately.

This was not a pleasant experience. The technician showed up 20-25 minutes late for the first call of the morning. When I complained, the service manager told me that all calls were within an half-hour range, which was NOT what I was told either when I scheduled or when they called to confirm. It took the technician more than three hours to do the maintenance, and I was charged almost $200 for things that were allegedly not covered under my contract. When the technician left, he told me that all three furnaces were working fine. As soon as the sun went down, I discovered this was not the case. When I called on Monday morning to ask them to come back and really fix the furnace, the service manager told me that they did not want to service my home any more and to get my service somewhere else.
