The servicemen come on a designated day and they are prompt. The last time they were here they found something wrong with the furnace. The part to replace would have cost $1100 so it just made sense to me that we replace the whole furnace. They also alerted me to an issue with my electrical box.
Description of Work: Home Air Services Inc installed a new furnace. We have a yearly contract with them to check the furance and AC. They also installed an in house humidifier.

They came promptly, exactly when they said that they would. They gave me a window and they came at the earliest possible time in the window. The person who came out was very pleasant. The work was done quickly. There was something else that happened with the boiler so I called them about it. They came out a week later and checked everything out. He did not even charge me, because he had been out within the week. The price came in cheaper than I expected it too.

I called about 10 days in advance to schedule. Originally, I called with the expectation that I could book an appointment for later that week, but I was informed that the earliest they could come was 10 days later. At the time of scheduling, I was told that I would likely be the last call of the day. On the day of the service, though, they called to alert me that other appointments had been canceled and would I mind if the service technician came to my house earlier. The technician was very efficient and professional. After servicing the boiler, he walked me through what he had done with detailed explanations about how things work, including a tutorial about how to release air from our radiators and about how to add water to the system.

On their website, it said that they did free estimates, but when they came out, they ended up servicing the unit and charging us $136 for it - the technician thought that he was supposed to service the unit while we just wanted an estimate on what was wrong. I wasn’t at home when he came but my boyfriend was and he didn’t know exactly what I had arranged with them. He wasn’t expecting to pay anything. He had a lot of issues with the technician because he was going to try to charge him additionally because he said that he had been waiting for 35 minutes. My boyfriend said that that wasn’t the case because he was home all the time. They were great on the phone and they came out when they said they would. Their only saving grace is that they sent us a survey afterwards, which I need to fill out. It appears that they are genuinely interested in our experience with them. I wouldn’t use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We were worried that there was something wrong with our air conditioning unit because our house was 15 degrees hotter upstairs. We used Home Air Services to come out and give us an estimate. They inspected the A/C system, set the thermostat and checked the unit operation bolts.

Response from Vito Services
1.) The website refers to free estimates for new equipment installations as it wouldn’t be cost effective to do free estimates for service calls. I don’t know of any HVAC company that does free estimates on service calls. 2.) The logical place to start with any comfort complaint is to first establish that the equipment itself is functioning properly. I am not clear on how someone could think we were sending out a service tech for free, as our policy is to quote our service rates prior to dispatching any tech to a job site. 3.) Obviously there seems to be a communications issue on this call; a.) I am mailing you out a homeowner check list on what to check for the upstairs temperature differential (a common occurrence/complaint). b.) If you’d be interested, we would be happy to apply 50% of the $136.00 towards an annual heating & cooling Preventative Maintenance Agreement if you think this would be of benefit to you. c.) If after reading the aforementioned checklist and think you might want to consider adding a ductless mini split zone upstairs, etc., we can still send an “estimator” out at no charge to do a free estimate. Hope this helps. Respectfully, Lionel Boulin Customer Satisfaction Dept.

I had a good experience with Home Air Services, and would use them again. My only complaint is that the furnace inspector showed up early. I called and made an appointment for 2 days later. I was given a 4-hour time frame. The furnace inspector showed unexpectedly up more than a hour before the time frame, with only 10-minutes warning with a call from the road. I was pleased that he fixed the temperature control, rather than just replacing it.
Description of Work: We had recently moved into a new home and needed an inspection of the furnace. Also the temperature control panel was not working properly. Despite a scheduling mess-up, I was very happy with the services and would certainly use them again. The furnace inspector was professional and knowledgeable. He cleaned the furnace, adjusted the water pressure in the radiators (told me to get a radiator key, so I can do it myself in the future), and added water to the system. He took the temperature control panel apart, didn't find any obvious problem, cleaned the dust out, and readjusted the wiring. And amazingly, it has been working ever since. I appreciate that he didn't just sell me another temperature control unit on the spot, and saved me several hundred of dollars.

I received a call on the date of the appointment and was asked if the tech could come earlier than the appointed time. Tech arrived and began work immediately and within minutes found the problem. He went to the truck and got a piece of replacement wire and did the repair filled out the paperwork and was completely done within the half hour. Tech was friendly and completely forthcoming with the problem. I would use this service again in a heartbeat. Thanks

I had a below average experience with them. They repaired my air-conditioner but the furnace was not working, I am capable of figuring out things and I found that there was a screw driver left at the exhaust motor. The crew was careless and unprofessional. The price was quite high. The crew had to finish another appointment so I wasn't able to get them after the time frame.

Home Air Services came out to look at a noisy air compressor. They inspected it and determined that it was functioning properly but could not do much to reduce the vibration coming down into the house. Speaking with others I later figured out this will require some serious work so they're not really to blame. Still they could have suggested some better ideas. They were professional and honest. They installed a programmable thermostat for me so I can keep the AC off at night. They also noticed that my furnace room didn't have proper ventilation, so I was quite thankful for that. Overall they were very professional and courteous though a bit expensive. I will probably use them again.

Before I went on vacation mid August, my A/C was not functioning properly but I had to act fast to have it checked before leaving. I decided to call Home Air Services right away because of very good reports on Angie's list. The technician came the next morning (I was leaving overseas that same evening). He was extremely nice and polite and checked everything. He said my A/C had a freon leak and in view of age of outside unit (18 years) it may be a good idea to change it instead of trying to find the leak and then still have to change it. I asked if this could wait 2 weeks or so. He said most probably OK. He wrote a proposal for a new unit and installation for a reasonable price. The price of this 1s visit was quite reasonable too. When I came back from vacation 2 weeks later, my A/C was dead and my basement full of mildew. I called Home Air Services again and another technician came who said i really needed to have the unit changed. I did not pay for this second visit. I decided to go ahead but wanted to find out about A/C units brands on Internet, different qualities and prices. I did not want to just accept the proposal that the 1st technician had made as i care for quality and wanted something not noisy. I called Home Air Services again and said i really wanted the best possible unit for my house and to match w/ my furnace/ central unit. A 3rd technician came (in fact head technician of company) and he very patiently explained to me all possible alternatives. He too was very nice and polite. I decided to accept a reasonably priced better unit than initial offer for not much more in price and a more modern and programmable thermostat. Home Air Services did everything they could to have the installation done quickly, Because of a weekend in the middle it was done on the next Tuesday. They came on time and did all on time. I was not at home but my 2 teenagers were. All went perfectly well and they cleaned everything. I had left a check. I am very happy of the experience with them. They show they care, are very professional and knowledgeable and they are generous with their time. I am very happy of my new A/C and I definitely will keep them to maintain it. When the 3rd technician was in my house I also asked about large dehumidifiers that connect to main central unit. In fact that was also an issue I needed help with. I was very nicely explained why that would not be appropriate in my case and was offered some alternatives but was advised to consider them later, after some time with the new A/C functioning. I was also advised to call other experts that would specialize in mold and in outside causes of humidity entering the house.
Description of Work: Check-up visit to identify problem. Extra visit at my demand to identify best possible A/C system to install in my house. Then remove old A/C and old coil and install new A/C and coil. Run new line. Install new thermostat. Test all. Clean up.

Home Air Services moved much more rapidly than they said. The only thing about them that annoyed me was that they hadn’t replaced the filter in the air conditioning unit, which I thought was quite unprofessional on their part. Other than that, they were fine. However, I don’t think I’d use them again.

Everything went right. Our phone call was handled with efficiency and thoughtfulness. The Service Technician was on time and helpful. The Company Representative gave us a number of options and then gave us an extra discount for booking the job. The supervisor of the job checked the site for any potential issues before the date of installation. It is a difficult site to work in, since the heat pump is in a crawl space. On the day of the job, everyone showed up on time and the work was done within that day. When everything goes smoothly, there is not much to write without gushing. Overall, we enjoyed working with everyone at Home Air Services. We felt like appreciated customers who were given an honest appraisal and got good work. We look forward to working with them in the future.
Description of Work: We called Home Air Services when the air handler in the second zone of our house stopped working. We had selected Home Air Services on the basis its listing on Angie's list. The woman answering our call suggested that a maintenance contract for our heating and air conditioning would save us money on the house call, so we signed up. Since we are very pleased with the work done; this contract has set us up with an excellent company for the future. The service technician came and diagnosed the problem as an expensive repair on an old system. Our other system still worked but it is also old. We asked for an estimate of replacing the heat pump and air handler. Kerry, the company representative came to check our present system and recommended a more efficient system that would give us the $1,500.00 tax credit for saving energy. So, we got a better system and overall, we paid less.

Recently purchased home, seller provided home warranty, A/C unit (heat pump) stopped working. Home warranty company contracted with Vito, technician came out same day. He checked the unit inside, the compressor, the thermostat, added 2 units of coolant. He suggested installation of attic fan, gave reasons why. I asked if his company installs attic fans, he immediately replied that it did not, just making the recommendation to increase efficiency of unit and reduce energy bills. I was very impressed that he took the time to clearly check everything, and to make a recommendation that he/the company had no financial interest in; obviously he was making a suggestion to help the particular situation. We have $100 deductible for the service call/parts.

I contacted the company for HVAC services and scheduled an appointment for between 12-4 today. I was told the technician would call when he was on his way. Not only did no one call during the window of time but when a call was finally received at 5:15, the company stated was told that the technician was still at another location at least 30 minutes away. Instead of an apology, the company wanted to know whether we wanted the technician to come when he was finished with his current job. No thanks. Since I wasted an entire afternoon waiting for the technician to arrive, it would have been nice to have received timely notice if the technician was behind schedule. Also, notwithstanding the company profile that states it charges by the job, I was told that I would have to pay a fee (certain amount for first 30 minutes and additional amount for every 15 minutes thereafter) for an assessment to determine the potential repair estimate.
Description of Work: N/A as the company never showed up.

In response, I believe the charging by the job refers to installations, not service. It is true that we do charge a $96.00 minimum diagnostic fee and then $40 every 15 minutes to repair. Our records indicate we had called at 3:15 pm; however it is also true that the technician in question was running late that day; however we do want to apologize for holding the member up. At this most hectic time of the year, technicians do get tied up on some calls and I believe we could have done a better job of communicating this earlier in this instance. We just ask that potential customers look at our service record overall when considering us as we are very grateful for the patronage of the Angie’s community. Respectfully, Lionel

The sales rep./evaluator spent a half-hour looking at our house and current equipment and another half-hour discussing options with us. He seemed to be knowledgeable and experienced. We accepted the proposal and the next step was to have another person come evaluate before the work team came in to install the new equipment. This person looked at the wrong work order and thought a 90% efficient furnace was to be installed, so he found a way to install a 90% efficient system. The way he found had not been identified by the sales rep. Because the sales rep had indicated that it would be very difficult (i.e. costly) to install a 90% system in our house, we had gone with the proposal for an 80% efficient system. Even though this second person found a way to install a 90 % system we didn't ask for a re-proposal, but just continued with the 80% proposal we accepted. Had we had the information about a way to install the 90% system that didn't appear to be too costly at the start (from the sales rep.), we might have gone that direction, but, obviously, we could have re-adjusted to this new information and didn't. The installers (two people) came the next day and efficiently and neatly installed our new furnace and ac.
Description of Work: Evaluated needs for furnace and ac and made recommendations that would allow us to receive the energy tax credit. Installed a new furnace and ac.

The saleperson was very friendly and professional. He offered to provide loaner window A/C units until the new system was installed (obviously after we signed the contract). The installation manager was thorough and made some recommendation on how the new system would have to be installed. Given that the broken unit was located in the attic, we decided to leave it in there and place the new unit in a hallway closet. Little different from what the salesperson described, but still acceptable. The installation team took longer than expected (3.5 days instead of 2). This was due to the fact that ceiling joist had to be cut and that the electrical system in the attic was old and faulty. The installation team tried their best to get it installed correctly given the environment. After the ceiling hole was cut and electrical circuit was fixed, the team was able to finish the job. The only reason I am giving them a "c" for quality is that they had to cut a new air intake in the wall. Given that the wall was plaster, they should have taken more care of cutting the hole to minimize the amount of damage around the intake.
Description of Work: Installation of new heat pump and air handler. Also had to get a crane to lift the heat pump to the roof.

The technician was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing. He flushed out the condensate line, added a new filter, put back the thermostat that was coming loose off of the wall, and added freon to the system. In the end, it cost a little more than what I was hoping to spend but I know that the job was done meticulously and for that kind of piece of mind, I guess you have to pay more. I would highly recommend!
