Excellent in every way. Mike thoroughly checked every element of our A/C system, from the condenser outside, to the pipes to the attic, and the entier system of the blowers, filters, and ducts in the attic. He pointed out a possible future problem (but didn't push us to fix it now), and we discussed future upgrades to our system (which I had raised, not him). All around, a 100% professional experience. Well done.

The first visit went very poorly. Having waited all day for them, the repairman arrived late and then talked on the phone half the time he was in my home with his friends about evening plans. Then he said it was his birthday and that he wanted to leave early (mid-afternoon), leaving before doing the 2nd part of the job. Then they said he couldn't come back for 3 weeks and when he did, he had forgotten the standard pipe piece and joint he needed. Then they sent me a bill for the second visit to cover their driving expenses even though no work was done, they hadn't done the work the first time, then came unprepared to do the work the second time.
Description of Work: Came to do a simple service on a heating/cooling air unit and also do a pipe repair on a 2-year old furnace.

Top-notch company. Donald did the scheduling and follow-up and was cordial and professional on the phone. When I initially called, he gave me a window of time to expect the service visit so I could make arrangements with my employer. Donald then called me within the hour of the HVAC expert's arrival to my house, which was much appreciated. Ivan came here, did some tests, and miraculously resurrected my old, old unit. He also gave me some energy-saving recommendations that I will definitely put into practice. I *definitely* trust these guys and will call them again. I'm happy to be sitting in comfort and am content that I have the right number to call next time I have an HVAC issue. Thanks so much!
Description of Work: My A/C unit was blowing hot air, so I called Home Air Services on Friday at 4 and they were here by Wednesday. (I thought this was absolutely within reason given how many 90-degree days we've had in the past few weeks. This is the season when everyone discovers that their unit is isn't working.)

Terrible experience! I made an appointment for Home Air Services to repair my AC on Tuesday, and they could not come until Friday afternoon. The woman answering the phone was rude and abrupt, but they had good ratings here, so I ignored it. I had a window from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Friday. At 3:15, they called and said they would be running late, and would be there at 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. at the latest. Their excuse for running late was that they had emergency calls and their technicians were servicing AC outages. What about me; I've been without AC all week, but that's not an emergency? It's now after 6:00 and not a word from them. I called their main line and left a message in their "emergency service" mailbox, but no one bothered to return my call.

We have been using Home Air Services for bi-annual maintenance of our Glover Park townhouse's HVAC for two years now. Let me start by saying that they are punctual, professional, highly skilled, and charge a fair price for their work. However, over the last year their response times and communication have been poor to negligible! Should you wish to make an appointment, lest it be an emergency, be prepared to wait 6-8 WEEKS before they can schedule you in. Not sure if this is the industry standard, or if they have taken on too much work, no matter the reason this is unacceptable and given us good reason not to renew our contract after our next scheduled appointment. The reason however I decided to write this review is the following. Since the recent heat wave and last summers experience, it became clear to us that we need supplemental cooling. Earlier this week I called them to inquire whether or not they would be interested in installing an additional heat pump and new AC units for our top floor rooms. The nice lady at the end of the line giggled and declared and quot;why of course, this is our core business ... I'll have someone call you asap to schedule a consultation.and quot; Well, even though this is apparently 'their business' they don't seem to want to pursue it with much ambition as I am still waiting, three days later, not for the appointment, but for a phone call to schedule the appointment. Ugh! Nice people, qualified and professional technicians, but simply lacking the ability to schedule with reasonable lead times and apparently uninterested in new business. Regards Update 1: A funny thing happened about a week after I inquired about a supplemental AC system. I received a letter from them asking me if I ever got a follow up call but not the call itself. It's all good though, in the end I ended up meeting with a very nice and qualified rep who has been working with me on coming up with the perfect system for our needs. He's been great, sometimes returning numerous emails to me into the late evening hours. The equipment we agreed upon is top notch, the price is fair but not cheap, and they are willing to work around our fickle schedule. I'd still advise anyone scheduling regular maintenance to do so months in advance for busy they surely are ... but I'm bumping my overall grade from a C to a B pending completion of our supplemental system install. Regards.

The sales rep was an ex-installation technician so he knew not only the sales options but the details of how they would work and what would be an optimal solution for our 1949 house. He provided what turned out to be the best of three bids that included not only a higher sized 16 SEER unit, but also included the improved coolant lines in the offer. The service guys came at the time and date they had committed to, were professional, friendly, courteous, efficient, and kept the premises clean. They completed the work in one day, including removing and reinstalling our ceiling pull down ladder because the unit was so big. They reinstalled everything so I couldn't tell the trap door had ever been removed. They also took away all the old 16-year (smaller/less efficient) equipment. This is a terrific 25-person company that I found on Angie's list deserves a commendation!!
Description of Work: The company installed a new air conditioning system, including the in-attic air handler, the outside exchange (Lenox), new coolant lines, a non-freon coolant solution, improved evaporation/overflow protection, new electrical connections, and new upgraded thermostat.

I liked their price and theirs was the best. I also like the fact that they were recommended by Angie's List. They were also prompt and good at cleaning up the house after they left, vacuumed and all. Very pleasant people and they did a really nice job. I also like that they didn't bad mouth their competition. It shows good integrity on their part.

The technician was punctual and very courteous. He not only did an excellent job, but went beyond that by checking the rest of my system for leaks etc. He also answered all my questions and said I could call if I had any more. Very impressed around!
Description of Work: I thought the whole house humidifier was not working. The technician came and opened up the system, checked all the pipes for leaks, made sure all the spigots were as they should be. Turns out it was working, just not a very effective model. He still taped up a few places where leaks may occur.

We owned our condo for seven months when we noticed a "service needed" alert. We changed the filter, but the alert remained. We called Home Air Services who sent out an experienced technician. The technician cleaned the furnace and explained maintenance, answered all of my questions and gave tips on how to save money in the future.

My home never seemed to get hot enough and now my house feels extremely comfortable. They had to come out twice, but they fixed something that has been bothering us for 5 years. He was very concerned over our well-being by making sure we had a carbon monoxide detector. He was polite, and very good. It felt like our well-being was more important to him than the money he was getting paid. He was very nice, and was nice to my dog. I would recommend him to everyone. He showed up when he said he would.

Excellent. Made a quick evaluation and gave an estimate with multiple options. No "hard sell" but answered questions as to best options. Offered an excellent price with a discount, and kept the appointment and completed work as planned. When we asked that the outside a/c unit be moved slightly (out of the view of the kitchen glass door) they were able to quickly respond, with no complaint, hassle or other problems. The existing furnace was five years old, but they said there was no need for an upgrade or replacement, that the a/c would work well with it - very honest.

We had a sewer backup several years ago, and James Vito did a very professional job of fixing the problem. At the time, Vito told us that we should have our sewer line cleaned out every 5 years to make sure that we did not have another backup. Since it has been more than 5 years since then, and since Vito had done such a good job before, I e-mailed them from their web site and asked them to do the preventive clean-out of our sewer line, that they had previously recommended. I got an automated e-mail response, saying that they would be in touch. They never contacted me, so I e-mailed again, and again got no response. I finally called and asked them to perform the preventive clean-out, and they scheduled an appointment. The plumber they sent had no idea of why he had been sent to our house, refused to perform the requested service, and proceeded to look around the house to identify other plumbing services that he tried to sell us, even though we had not requested these. Fortunately, he did not charge us for his time.
Description of Work: Based on this company's previous recommendation to us, we asked them to perform a clean-out of our sewer line, to prevent possible future sewer line backups, as we have had in the past. They came to our house, refused to perform the requested service, and tried to sell us a number of other services that we do not need.

My furnace started to malfunction. I had a great experience in the past with a Home Air technician, so I called them again. A different tech arrived this time and the experience was not good. Basically, my furnace was not heating the house adequately. After almost two hours, the technician concluded that it needed a new limit switch - which would take several days to arrive. I bought one online, had it shipped overnight, and installed it myself. It was very easy to do. But this did not solve the problem. So I went online and paid $15 to chat with an HVAC expert. Just from reading the manual, I had already figured out that there was a problem with the flame sensor, since an indicator light was blinking. The online tech immediately concluded that this was the problem, and that it was causing the unit to go into an occasional soft lockout and shut down for an hour. As a result, the house did not get warm enough. I cleaned the sensor and the contacts that connect it to the unit. Problem solved for $15 by someone who could not see the system. All I got from Home Air was a few extra days of a cold house and a $200 bill. Very disappointing. It seems that the key to quality HVAC service is a good tech. This guy just wasn't knowledgeable enough to deliver.

While I was not happy that Home didn't service Mitsubishi heat pumps of the type I had, the technican was helpful in explaining what might be wrong and other options for service. I have since called Home Air Services for problems with another unit. That service call is not yet complete, so I won't add more rating information yet.
Description of Work: My Mitsubishi heat pump wasn't working and I called Home Air Services for repair. Technician came to investigate; he hadn'tbeen told that it was a mitsubishi heat pump, which Home does not service. Since I had explained this when making the service appointment, there was no charge.

Best heating company I have ever worked with. I called Home Air and others on short notice for a quote for installation in time to get the tax credit (closed on the house 12/15). The owner came out himself the next day and explained only a furnace was needed, that the A/C unit was fine for now and sold me only a furnace. Their quote was well below the others I received since all the others wanted to replace the entire system and more. They confirmed it would be installed before 12/31 so I could get the tax credit. Came to install on 12/29. Removed the old furnace, cleaned the area thoroughly, installed the new Trane furnace, replaced the gas cutoff valve, redid the exhaust pipes, fixed the electronic air cleaner, adjusted the humidifier, replaced the small water pump and the line to the drain. Also put in a new thermostat and repositioned it higher on the wall. The technicians then thoroughly explained the thermostat and showed us what work they did replacing the furnace. Next day the manager called and set an appointment to come by and examine the work. He came by the following day (New Year's eve) to check the work and then again explained the work they had done and the operations of the thermostat. Could not have asked for better service, especially since they were able to get it installed in time for the tax credit and they did not inflate their price for the credit as others did. Excellent work, fair price, followup, what else can you ask for.
Description of Work: Home Air Services installed a new 95% efficeint Trane furnace in a house I recently purchased in time to qualify for the Energy Tax Credit. Also while there installed a new gas cutoff valve, new exhaust system for both the furnace and hot water heater, repaired the humidifier and the electronic air cleaner and installed a new condensate pump.

They never showed up. The maintenance appointment was for the Dec 22nd between 12pm and 4pm. I waited 4 hours, at 3:30pm I was called and informed that the tech was running a bit late, and should be there between 4:30 and 5. Three hours later (!!) at 6:30pm I received a call from the tech telling me that he was about 15 minutes away, but I at that point I was already gone to an appointment. VERY bad first impression.
Description of Work: So far they have not shown up. I bought a one year service contract, and scheduled my first annual maintenance appointment.

We are just coming out of a very hectic seasonal peak. We had a couple of techs get hurt and are temporarily shorthanded. One tech is now back as of this past Monday and another should be back shortly. In the heating business you have to take care of the emergency "No Heat" calls before maintenances. We had a seasonal peak right before the Christmas holidays. I believe our overloaded and running behind will continue to abate and improve from here forward.

I scheduled weeks in advance a 7:30am (first call of the day) service appointment so I could still make it into work on time. The tech did not show up till 9:00am. I know things happen but when someone is this late it is up to the company to call me and keep me informed and give me the opportunity to reschedule. It is call customer service and being proactive. I should not be the one that has to keep calling the company to try and find out why someone is this late and when he is going to show up. I was not happy and was told the service manager would call me. That never happened. When my contract is up I will never use this company again. I will find a company that practices good customer service and returns calls.

I had personally replied on 12/16 to the client by email, the following: Dear Member, Thank you for taking the time to update us on your recent maintenance call. By way of background (not as an excuse) I researched the specifics of your call. Apparently the dispatched text for your call did not go through originally to our service tech, Jamaal. Eventually, according to our GPS system he left his residence at 7:47 but did not arrive to your door until 8:57. I understand you were originally set up as a first call 7:30-8:00am. So, I agree we should have contacted you, to let you know he was running late but, unfortunately, I don’t think our dispatcher knew he was running that late until he heard from you. As far as any discount, there is not any room in a $194, two (2) visit preventive maintenance agreement, but by way of this email for your records, I will be happy to give you a discount to smooth things over on any service repair (15% parts discount) or $75 off any equipment upgrade you may need in the future. We apologize for the delay. In closing, it’s a seasonal business. We are currently running over 250 service calls per week, despite the best of intentions, sometimes things in the real world, like the aforementioned, are going to occur, but I understand the clients viewpoint.
