I had used them in the past for servicing so I called them before I went out of town to come out and look around my property so that I could get an estimate for some tree servicing. They came out and looked around and decided that one of my trees had to go. I came back from my trip a day early and they came out to take down the tree. I was able to stop them from removing the tree from my property and I told them that I wanted to wait. They tried to charge me a thousand dollars for having the trucks come out to remove a tree that I did not want to have removed. I tried to negotiate for the price and they were unwilling to do so. They sent my information to collections and tried to get me to pay them for the trucks coming out without my permission. After all of this I found out that they lied about the work that needed to be done. I would not recommend them to anyone.

It is possible that this member is confusing us with someone else. We did take a tree down for him after a storm on August 29 of 2007, but haven't been on his property since then. He clearly had a bad experience in May of 2009, so we hope that next time he calls us instead!

This work took most of a day, and the arborist stopped by again twice to finish a couple of things that hadn't been completely done. Savatree also removed a dead poplar from our property last year, and they did some clearance work in our yard a few years ago. They're always extremely professional. It's expensive (fair in terms of this kind of work), but VERY worth it!
Description of Work: We had all of the large trees in our yard pruned (3 tulip poplars and 2 oaks), plus some brush clearance in the yard (including poison ivy vines removed from one tree).

This company does not honor its warranty! June 22, 2009 relationship was severed with Savalawn, by them. After having spent $1,000 in the past ten months, I have no turf. My lawn is dying as this is written. They cash my checks every month and offer a new excuse every time I call . . . but they now won?t return my calls (even when the lady on the phone promised they would). Last fall Savalawn applied herbicide to my lawn and killed all broadleaves. That left a lot of bare soil. After repeated calls to try to get them to seed the lawn, they waited until the second week of October. Of course the soil was bare all winter and we lived in mud. This spring they seeded again. The grass sprouted and began to die immediately. I was so ?fed up? with Savalawn that I told the technician that showed up on Monday exactly what I thought of the company (in no uncertain terms). He left in a huff. On his way back to his truck, he pushed his aerator (several hundred pounds) down my new concrete sidewalk/steps. As it banged down the steps it broke a large chunk of concrete off the bottom step. As I was watching out the window, the technician picked up the piece, not knowing that I was watching out my window. I received a call a little later informing me that they were dropping my account. I have called the company twice since then and left one message requesting that they honor the warranty they were so proud of, and I told them that they needed to send someone to look at my damaged step and make it right. To date, they have ignored all attempts I have made to contact them. So, what else do I do? I joined Angie?s List for the express purpose of telling other people to stay away from this company; they are dishonest and will try to sneak away from their moral and financial obligations

As you can see from the photos, his lawn was quite a challenge in that it is very small and gets very little sunlight. We began treatments in the fall of last year in the hope that we could generate some improvement by the fall of this year. He does not pay monthly for the service, and his charges for 2009 were actually $156, and this amount has been refunded as per our policy. He paid $467 in 2008, and no complaints were noted at that time. Not sure who damaged his new(?) steps since we didn't have an aerator in our truck on that day, and he was not scheduled for aeration. It is too bad that he joined Angie's List just to malign us (and it is interesting that he admits that!) Fortunately the other numerous Angie's List Member reviews more closely match our client commitment, results and expertise. We strive for straight A's and our grades speak for themselves!

We had 3 contractors come to look at the holly; two suggested trimming and the third recommended removal. Eric, the certified arborist from Savatree, recommended a fairly radical trimming of the tree that would allow it to keep its shape and, most importantly, keep it alive. He told me exactly how he would recommend the tree be trimmed, using reference points on the house to give a sense of scale. His estimate was very much in line with the others we'd received (all within $50), but he clearly knew what he was talking about and achieved a real comfort level in discussing the job. Once we'd agreed to the terms, he very quickly attempted to schedule the job; the only reason it was delayed at all was because of unexpected travel on our part. The work crew arrived right on time and clearly explained what they intended to do, and that Eric would be stopping by to take care of any questions. They worked quickly, courteously, and very professionally, doing exactly the work that had been agreed to. Eric did indeed show up about 1/3 of the way through the job to check on the work. The crew chief gave me several updates throughout the process of trimming and he and his colleague shaped the tree perfectly. After completing the job, they cleaned up so well that you'd never know anyone had been in the yard. I had expected good work after my initial meeting with Eric, but the crew exceeded my expectations. These guys are real pros.
Description of Work: Trimming a very large Nellie Stevens Holly tree (had grown taller than the gutters on a two-story colonial) to get it to a size that is more proportional to the house. This is a tree that I had trimmed myself for about 12 years, but in the last 18 months or so it has exceeded my capabilities and tools. Frankly, it looked like it was going to eat the house. When we started looking for someone to take care of this, we didn't know if we would trim the tree or have it removed and replaced. Bottom line: when the trimming was completed, about 6-8 feet of growth had been taken off the top of the tree, and it was cut back anywhere from 1 to 2 feet around the sides.

Very well, very professional. Got the quote on 4/28. Estimator was on time and thorough. Recommended a smaller tree that was mostly dead and since quote for all 3 trees was less than another quote for two, we went with SavaTree. Work was delayed because of very rainy weather for more than 1 week. Finally started 2 days after initially scheduled. This worked better because my yard didn't suffer from the equipment used to haul away the wood.

The estimate visit and process was very professional. Depending on the service we need, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Saveatree again.
Description of Work: We have a large silver maple with a narrow crotch. We were worried that it might split and damage other (better) plantings. Saveatree came to the house and estimated removal and a "therapy" plan. Both prices were reasonable. However, they were higher than a competitor, so we chose the competitor.

Prompt response to request. David met me at my home at 7 a.m. and made suggestions on what to keep and what not to. Prepared a proposal that afternoon and performed the work the next week (time to get utilities marked and parking reserved). I live in an urban row-house and they took great care not to disturb my neighbors yards. The 2-person work crew worked for about 4 hours at the job, cleaned up meticulously and left everything looking good. Thanks to David, the crew and Savatree for the great service!

The crew arrived at the time I was given and the arborist came to go over the job with the workers and myself. The job took about 4 hours on a cold windy day. I was able to add 2 more trees to the job that only needed trimming for $90.00. Things went well even though the trees were on a hill with a fence in the way. They were able to carry the large branches over or around the fence without any damage to the garden and plantings below.

The workmen butchered the trees, lopping off the tops rather than trimming, leaving an unsightly group of trees. They forgot to anchor one of the trees and anchored another (that already had been anchored) twice. When the supervisor saw what happened, he immediately apologized and refunded 70% of the payment (keeping the balance for the anchoring job). A total disaster! Obviously horrible training and supervision.

We were initially disappointed that the soonest appointment we could get with Dave Wesley for an estimate was about three weeks out. But we decided it was worth the wait. He showed up on time. It was easy to communicate with Dave and we were impressed with his perspective to our situation. We thought some additional trees had to be taken down, but he showed us how to address safety concerns without removing live healthy trees - thus saving us money and preserving our trees. We were pleasantly surprised that once we signed the contract that the crew arrived so quickly - only two days. The work was done while we were away at work. We were again pleasantly surprised upon our return to see that all the work had been done as expected - and a little more clean up than expected. We also liked that the driveway and yard were clean of all debris and wood chips. Dave called a day later to confirm our satisfaction - a nice touch.

It went OK. When we called to set up an appointment for an estimate, the response was fast and professional. Within a few days, David Wesley had come out, met with my husband, and given us a written proposal. He promised that he would be here the morning of the work to orient the crew and make sure everything went well. This was a major point for us, as we had previously used Bartlett Tree Service, and we were concerned that the Savatree crew may not have the expertise that Bartlett's guys have. Well, the crew showed up on time on the scheduled date and expected us to supervise them. No word from Dave Wesley explaining his absence. I really should have called him and asked what was going on. But, not wanting to gum things up, we just went along and told the guys what to cut. They were willing to do whatever we asked, but we are not arborists, so there was a disconnect. They did an OK job, but in hindsight, we wish we'd have spent a bit more and used Bartlett again. A few days later, we received a follow-up call from David Wesley, and he seemed really taken aback that I had an issue with his not showing up as promised. He gave a number of excuses (other appointments in Maryland scheduled for the same time as our work) and said it "almost never happens" but in the end, he didn't keep his word, and his word was why we hired them. Oh, and they were about $400 less than what Bartlett had quoted.

They were very responsive from the minute I called the company to get an estimate through the day after they completed the work when they called me to be sure everything was OK. They scheduled a time to come view the work, came exactly on time, gave me a fair price, scheduled the work, again arrived on time, and cleaned up perfectly. I left a message for several tree services on a Sunday afternoon. SavATree called me the next morning. David Wesley was very accommodating and met me at my house that afternoon. He assessed the situation well and offered a fair price, a price that another company I had contacted had also quoted. I chose to go with SavATree because of the high rating others on Angie's List had given them. The crew was out the next day, the tree was removed and the telephone lines were secured. The crew left the area spotless and removed the stump. I was very satisfied with the job.
Description of Work: I had a tree get blown over during a weekend while I was away. The tree was erect only because it was caught in a tangle of telephone wires and in danger of bringing them all down as well as blocking an alleyway. I needed to get the tree removed ASAP to prevent any damage to neighbors' property or interference with telephone lines.

Description of Work: I received an estimate from the company to cut down a large tree. One of the trunks had fallen on my neighbor's home so this posed an obstacle as well. This job was at my mother's house. I called them because they had done a job at my house earlier and I was very satisfied then. The price is a little high, but the work is excellent. The company is very easy to deal with. In addition to the estimate for the specific job, Dave looked at other trees in the yard and we discussed possible problems and solutions.
Description of Work: The company trimmed two trees which were close enough to the attic to allow squirrels and raccoons to enter the attic. They did the work promptly and quickly, and, while they were at it, trimmed a neighbor's tree which was also too near his attic. They were very tidy, and cleaned up so well that you couldn't even see that work had been done - except for the trees of course.
