Since 1959, Richards Heating & Air Conditioning Co. has been designing, installing and servicing residential air conditioning and heating systems in the Washington Metropolitan area. We install “total comfort conditioning” systems to meet the unique configurations of individual homes, recommending systems that fit each customer’s needs. Description of Work: We have used Richards Heating and AC for more than 20 years with good results. They are dependable, professional and provide quality products and services. For their most recent service visit in March 2014 to trouble shoot a 10+ year old whole house humidifier then replace it with a new one, we found that their price was 20 - 25% higher than 2 of their competitors. We used Richards for the work because they have served us well for many years.

Description of Work: It is what the provider did not do. I asked for Richards H & AC to provide me with an estimate for a new furnace (I already have an annual maintenance contract with this firm.) After two phone calls, I finally got someone (John Smith) to call me. He scheduled a meeting for Friday a.m. at my Maryland home shortly after 9 a.m. He never turned up or called. I called the firm at 9:40 wondering where he was and was told that he called in sick. He never telephoned me or asked the firm to telephone me. He never called me afterwards. The firm lost a chance to bid on a potential $4,000+ heater replacement contract. Maybe they do not need the business.

It went well. This was a big job and they put the resources together to get it done. I am very happy and would recommend them. In the past, I have used Guardian to service my old furnance/air conditioner. Pete, one of the technicians is great.
Description of Work: I wanted to replace my furnace, air conditioner and water heater. John came to my house, we discussed options, he provided a bid a few days later and scheduled the work. Because this needed to be a one day job, they brought a team of people.

I always have one person come out to service and maintain my heating and air conditioning system. He does the job at my place from 1992. He checks the system units before summer and winter, every year. I like his services and will use the same in future.

They guy that I dealt with was John Smith. I got three different quotes, and he was by far the most informative of the three. He came to my house on a Saturday to do an initial meeting. He gave me some different options, whereas the other guys just recommended what they thought would be right. He was very responsive. The installation went pretty well. If I ever had an issue, he took care of it quickly.

I've been very happy with their services. They are now a family owned business. I've been working with the same man for all of my jobs. He's just terrific. I feel like their prices are reasonable.
Description of Work: Guardian Air replaced my air conditioning units. They've given me an air cleaner and a humidifier as well. In the future, they are going to come out and give me an estimate for replacing another air conditioning unit. Every year they make sure that everything is ready to go for the season.
