 + -1 moreOn Monday morning the plumber was late, he said he called and left a message. He was very defensive and asked if he wanted him to prove that he called. He was supposed to fix a door that a previous plumber damaged. He was very disrespectful and started to talk over me in a very loud tone so I asked him to leave, which he did yelling out the door. He screeched out of my driveway. I called the office and Mimi said she could not talk to me and she would call me back. I called back the next day and they are not answering my calls or returning my messages. I want them to take their faucet back, return my money, and the charge for my Lifetime Agreement...I do not want to deal with them anymore.
Description of Work: I chose this company based on Angie's List report. The receptionist was extremely polite on the phone. The plumber was clean, pleasant, respectful, and when he came in the house he put booties on. He did the work needed and I was satisfied and I subscribed to their Lifetime Agreement which is transferable and includes an annual inspection and no emergency fee, they also give you priority over other jobs. I called to replace my sprayer. The plumber came on time (the same guy as the 1st time). I was told the faucet needed replaced and I gave them the go ahead and it cost $650 for parts and labor. I thought this was high but paid it anyway. The new faucet has a delayed drip and he said he would try to fix it, and if it continued to leak to call them. I received an appreciation card from Jim's with an evaluation form inside. Days past and the drip is still occurring. I found out the problem was there was not a ceramic washer in the faucet. I called them and said I wanted them to take out.

They were extremely pleasant and professional, and provided good information to help us avoid future problems. We signed a contract for future services because we were so pleased and have an old house that needs TLC.
Description of Work: Cleared a clogged drain running from the kitchen to the outside. Perhaps caused by improper use of garbage disposal.

 + -1 moreI was told over the phone that there would be no fee for the estimate but when the technician came to my house and told me the job would cost well over $300 I said I could not pay that much. The technician then asked for $49 to pay for the service call. Shortly after he left my house, he called and said he had talked to the company and there was no service charge for Angie's List members. I feel that the price Jim's wanted to charge was grossly excessive since a salesman at Home Depot had told me one of their contractors would do it for $120. I called Sears and was told that they would charge $119.99. Replacing a garbage disposer should be a simple procedure since the plumbing and wiring and switches are already installed. I was told that the company does not give estimates over the phone but the tech merely consulted a printed price list and told me how much the company charged for replacing a disposer. I could have been told that on the phone

 + 0 moreJim's office responded promptly to my call about a water problem in our kitchen ceiling. At designated meeting time, plumber called to say he'd be late. when he did arrive, he evaluated the situation and diagnosed a leaky valve in the bathroom above, giving an estimate of $165 to fix it (he said they only work on a per job basis, not by the hour). Fixing the leak took all of 15 minutes. Diagnosis seems to have been right, and the leak has stopped, but the price seemed high. Also, he told me they don't fix the moldy sheetrock, and suggested I call a painter. Since Jim's advertises itself as a general repair service, I was assuming they could address the entire problem I had called about, rather than just the plumbing issue.

 + -1 moreThey scheduled me about a week out. Guy arrived about 15 minutes early on the scheduled day, asked good questions, and listened to my descriptions of what I had experienced with the light. He then set to work systematically checking out the system until he discovered an underground cable that had shorted and burned out. I told him I could make the repairs and he was very helpful with advice on just how to do it. He was very pleasant, competent, and focused on the task at hand.

 + -1 moreMike came by the house when I wasn't home. I left the key under the front mat. He called me less than an hour later to tell me he was done. The faucet he put on the tub looked good, and now the shower works just fine. I was happy.

 + -1 moreRepairman came and determined that the globes around the lights were loose and that was causing the problem. I was embarrassed that we did not recognize the problem ourselves. He did not charge me for the call and was able to answer some other questions about a noise that my refrigerator was making. I will definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreAppointment was scheduled the next day after service call. Harold Quinones was the plumbing technician who performed all work within promised schedule. He explained all work to be performed, quoted costs from master price list, and maintained costs within original estimate. Harold was groomed and polite, articulate and professional. When drain around garbage disposal developed a minor leak after installation, Harold returned immediately and repaired the problem without additional charge. He was apologetic and sincere about the mishap, and offered a discounted price on the next plumbing job that required his services. We were extremely pleased with Harold's demeanor and work ethic.
Description of Work: Unclogged shower and sink drains in master bathroom, installed new garbage disposal in kitchen and purchased bio-degradable drain cleaner for all house drain systems.

 + 0 moreOverall, the experience was good. They were nice on the phone, and they showed up within an hour. My drain has been working since it was repaired a week ago. The price, however, was high I thought. It was $335 (that is not the emergency price), but that is the member price. I paid $199 in addition to the $335 to become a member and got a 10% discount. It is a lifetime agreement, and I will get 10% off any service they do.
Description of Work: I had a sink that was clogged and water was coming out of the drain like it was Mt. St. Helen's eruption.

He wasn't rude, but he was very unpleasant, and he seemed depressed. Perhaps one of the company's other plumbers would be good or maybe this was just a bad day for him. I won't find out.

 + -1 moreSteve was the plumber who came to the house. Long story made short he had to come twice. The curve ball here is that the entire house is stainless steel piping so the typical plumbers do not know how to tie into the pipes as using solder does not work. After he left on Saturday AM the leak was worse than it was when he arrived. Appt was for 7 AM he arrived at about 8 AM. Called at 7:12 AM to say he was going to be late. After attempting to replace the existing 30 inches of pipe and the elbow the joint still leaked. Steve returned on Monday (with talk about returing later on Saturday or Sunday) with compression parts to repair the leak. During the test the joint and pipe did not leak. Steve was very professional, I did help by running up and down the stairs to either turn the water main on or off for him. Work area was dark so I provided and held a flash light so he could see his work space. Did not push for the first time Angies List $15 off.
Description of Work: Had a leak at the 90 degree joint going to the upstairs bath. This leak had soaked through the dry wall in the ceiling of the kitchen. The job was to determine if it was necessary to replace more than the elbow joint. Replace the elbow and any additional pipe as necessary. Did not feel that this was a true emergency as I could turn off the water to prevent flooding in the house.

He appeared only a couple of minutes after the original time, which says a lot about Jim's Inc. employee's integrity. He gave me a quote before starting work, which he finished quickly. Since this is a new house to me he explained what had caused the problem. He also sold me some bio drain cleaner, which I'd been looking for in the stores and had been unable to find, which added about $50 to the total bill. He took time to show me where the shutoff valve for my outdoor faucets as well. An overall great experience.

 + -1 moreI think the comment speaks for itself. Most electricians charge $85 to $95 for the first 1/2 hour and then some amount for additional work. Paying a minimum charge of $225 and having to wait 5 weeks for someone to come look at the problem is ridiculous. I guess this company has more business than they need. I won't be using them.
Description of Work: On July 9, I emailed this company, which had a top rating off of Angie's List, to schedule an electrician to come out & address a problem I was having in my house. Here's the response I got from the company. "The electrician's minimum charge is $225. He would have to come out & take a look & give you a price. Unfortunately, he is not available until about mid-August. If you can wait until then, please call me & I will be happy to set up an appointment."
