I contacted Closet Stretchers and requested an estimate and was able to schedule an appointment within several days. The representative came to my home at the scheduled date and time, quickly measured my closet and almost instantly began drawing up plans based on what I wanted--a mix of shelves, long hang and short hang. I priced a similar design using elfa at Container Store and was in near shock when I received the estimate from Closet Stretchers. Closet Stretchers was almost half the price AND it included installation! Within two weeks the installers showed up and installed my closet within 45 minutes. They cleaned up after themselves and left me with a lovely closet. I highly recommend this company.

Called set up appt in less than 24 hrs. Designer was punctual and came prepared. Looked at space, asked what we hoped to see and drew a design idea that was "right on!" Did measuring and costs which was lower than others and had an installation date for 1 week later. Crew showed up on time and did closet and cleaned up in 1/2 day.
Description of Work: The designer was very good and made excellent suggestions to give my husband a wonderful and easy accessible closet

The job went very well. I had no complaints or issues with the entire process.
Description of Work: I recently moved into a new townhouse and wanted to have the wire rack builder installed closets removed and made more efficient. I had 5 closets redone which included installing dual rods in three of the closets to hang shirts on the upper and slacks on the lower. I had multiple sliding tie rack installed in two of the closets for my ties. I had a high rod installed in two of the closets for the long winter coats and for hanging other long garments. The person who came out was very knowledgeable and was able to take my idea and put it on paper to my satisfaction. The products were ordered and were installed in less than one month. The intallers were very efficient, fast and cleaned up everything when the job was finished. I had the cherry wood finish installed in all of my five closets. I have received my compliments on the look and the efficiency. In addition, I had shelving installed for mutiple pairs of shoes and two belt hook racks installed for my many belts. This is my third home with using Closet Stretchers and would not hesitate to use them in the future. They are not the most expensive, but not the cheapest either.

Excellent. On the first meeting the designer took measurements and drafted several different designs. Her input into the process was excellent. When the installers came, they were on time and efficient. The installation is great and everything fits neatly into the closet. A great bargain compared to some of the bigger name closet installation companies. I am definitely using Closet Stretchers again.

Closet Stretchers had by far the best price and selection. The work took only about 2 hours and was done superbly. The installation tripled the available space in the closet.

It went fantastically well overall. The only glitz was that I was told that the shelves are pre cut (that's why I couldn't cancel the one closet), but I saw the crew cutting and fitting them on site.
Description of Work: I met Mike at my friend's house who was doing her closets. Since I liked the work on her closets, I called the company to send Mike over to design 4 master bedroom closets. He was very punctual, pleasant, professional and knowledgeable, and great with numbers. He scheduled the crew to come in the next day. The following day I had a terrible leak in my master bathroom behind one of the closets that we had designed for shelves only and I called the company to see if I could cancel that closet. Since they told me that the shelves were already cut (they were an odd shape), I would have to buy them anyway. I decided to delay installation of that closet and Mike was very agreeable and told me that we could do the three closets now and install the fourth one when I fixed my plumbing problem. The crew came, was pleasant, finished in a matter of three hours. I was very happy with the work and am looking forward to hiring them again. Now I have organized closets and things where they belong.

Very smooth. The quote was easy and the design was exactly what i wanted. My sales rep communicated with me about the process and was very patient as my husband and I changed our minds on some of the finishes a couple of times. Scheduling was easy. The only hiccup was that the workers were 30 minutes later than the scheduled window for installation but finished more quickly than expected. The closet looks great and is very easy to use. I'm happy!

We have used closet stretchers to do all of the closets in our house over the years. We had to completely gut our laundry room, and needed new cabinets for storage (the old ones that were in there were horrid and I refused to reinstall them). Closet stretchers showed up very puntucally, the designer worked out a few design options for us based upon our requirements; he made a few suggestions on what would work best along. Also provided some guidance on colors/handle styles based upon our prefences. One unique thing we were trying to accommodate is the access pannel for water shutoff that was on the wall where the cabinets would go. I didn't want to go with really short cabinets that would have stopped above the access pannel. The designer suggested we have a hole cut in the back of the cabinet to permit access to the water shutoff, which worked great. They came out that weekend to install them. Because they had measured the hole for the access panel from the left rather from the right side of the cabinet, needed to come out again to replace the one cabinet (so that the hole for the access panel aligned properly with the hole!). No problems whatsoever.. they were great about following up to schedule the replacement. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: Installed two 36" long cabinets along with double height set of shelves with a hanging bar in our laundry room.

They did a good job originally, but once everything was in there were some things we really didn't like, and they came and corrected it immediately. Our guy and designer were pretty good. We wound up taking him after we interviewed four different companies. They were also the least expensive of the ones who came in and gave us the bids. I would rate them a little low on professionalism only because when they were coming in, they cracked in a lot of stuff. I don't know how they could have avoided that unless they laid plastic from the door to the room they were working.

Was great! Michael's design for maximum space was wonderful. I was able to put my clothes and wife's clothes in the master closet instead of two. Very professional from start to finish in the process. Met them at the Dulles Expo home show and was very impressed. Cost was very reasonable from what we were asking, had other estimates for 2 closets, in which they were lower for all 3. Would definitley recommend!!!!

They were able to fit the odd shaped closets I had and able to build in this dresser for the space. They were in and out. It only took them a few hours. The salesman went out and took measurements. I went to the store to pick out the colors I wanted and when I came back they got to work. The technicians were really nice and they cleaned up afterwards.
Description of Work: They placed a built in dresser in the closet in the bedroom. They built a double hanger on one side. In the walk in closet they placed a wardrobe that has glass doors at the top.

My experience with Closet Stretchers Company went well. I would recommend them. The closet they built for us is kind of odd sized; it’s a little bit deeper than the normal ones. Their price varies and depends upon the accessories one wants to put on the closet. They were very good with being responsive. They were very punctual. They were very professional. I would use them in the future.

A very pleasant crew came to install the closet inserts - which are basically melamine over pressed wood. They hand cut some of the pieces after arrival. As they were installing, I realized that I should have gotten exact information about the baseboards and would have left them off because there is no uniformity to the installation now. Luckily I had a contractor present that came inside and removed all the lights which stopped the installation because they were in the way of the design. I now have an electrician coming to install new lights in all the closets at extra expense. That should have been taken into consideration when they were designed. There are multiple shelves and rods in the units. They are measured and cut onsite and I had to have them return to recut some because they were too tight for me to remove - they graciously did this work. The crew was very accommodating. However, I learned that the construction is not plumb (blamed that on my walls) and therefore I cannot change the position of the shelves and rods even in the same run because the measurements are different. In one closet the shelves went up close to the ceiling; in the other there was a larger distance from the ceiling......with no explanation. Some wood was cut around the baseboards and others were cut above the baseboards with unsightly brackets/braces screwed into the baseboards. This was my first experience having closets fitted with shelving, etc., but I am sure there are better designers who are more thorough in assessing the needs of a customer. I have learned that I should have gotten more detailed information regarding the design AND installation. In final analysis - the installation was disappointing and I would not recommend them to another person.
Description of Work: A representative came out to my home to measure for one walk-in closet and two rooms of 2 reach-in closets each and a linen closet. The drawings that were rendered were hand-done and difficult to read, but thought I understood the design. I had some baseboards off in the closets and some baseboards still on and asked if I should leave them off or put them on before installation. She stated that it did not matter. I should have asked more design questions! She did not mention a thing about the lights in the closets.

The company sends someones to examine your existing space and then design on the spot a new organizational system. They provide you with estimates and show you material options you can choose from. Then they follow up by phone to schedudle the work. You have to empty or clear the space that they will work on before they arrive for installation. They came on time and installed new closet systems in six closets. They finished by 4 p.m. that day. It went very smoothly and the closets are exactly what they said they would be.
Description of Work: I had every closet in my house re-organized by the company. It is a small family owned business and they were very helpful. It was money well spent. The closets hold much more and you can completely rearrange shelves, bars drawers etc. to suite your needs.

They were wonderful. They are prompt. I had called two companies and this company was able to fit me in within 48 hours. I had thought of a way of doing it and their designer came out and configured and helped me make it much more assessable and provide me much more space. When I originally moved in to this town house I had them build a closet for me and that was 11 years ago and the price difference was barely $100. They hardly raised their prices even though I know they supply. The cost of their supply has gone up. They were wonderful. I would recommend everything about them. They were efficient, professional and punctual. I would sincerely say that.

Excellent. See above for details. The only reason I rated them a "B" on price is because the price that EVERYONE tends to charge for this service just feels like too much money, in general. Again, Closet Stretchers offered us a very good discount, which caused us to select them. I'm not sure we would have paid over $3,000 to "stretch" four closets...and 2 of the spaces are VERY small with odd shapes, which was the original quote. But, who's to say?
Description of Work: Closet Stretchers was quick to respond to my request for a free estimate. I didn't have any difficulty scheduling an appointment. The person who came was nice and professional. I had all 4 closests "stretched" in my house, which is a 1948 colonial with 3 bedrooms. By today's standards the closets are rather small, although the master bedroom includes a walk-in closet. The 4th closet was part of an addition that was built onto the house long ago. While I thought the woman who made the recommendations and sketches of the "new" closet spaces was excellent at drawing the spaces, making adjustments and making a good visual representation of what each closet would look like (she studied architecture), she didn't do a very good job of paying attention to how I was currently using the space and whether or not what was currently in the closet needed to go back into the closet. I think she was so focused on maximizing space that I had to catch the fact that she originally didn't create space in my closet for the ironing board or the vacuum cleaner. When I pointed these things out, we were able to talk through solutions...sometimes making modifications to her design, sometimes changing where I was going to put something. Lastly, after sitting with the designs for a few hours, I decided that I wanted to make some additional modest changes. I was able to EASILY talk these through on the phone with the person who called a few days later to check on my desire to schedule an appointment. AND those changes were properly communicated to the installation team, which we quickly walked through when they arrived. Some of the changes brought the price down, others didn't. So, while the design process went well...be sure to have a clear vision in your own mind of what you want to store in your closets BEFORE the drawings are done so they can be properly incorporated into the design. The booking process went very well. While the gentleman on the phone was a bit of a hard sell, he gave me time to think things over and offered a meaningful discount. We decided to put this on my fiance's credit card, so he ended up calling to make the final appointment. No problem. The installation process went very well. They arrived on time and, as I was told during the design phase, it only took 4 hours. They were neat and vacuumed things up as they went along. About 3-4 people came...supervisor and 3 workers..they spilt up and got the job done. They never had to ask me a question and they were very professional. There was one minor hiccup at the end after the installation. Typically, they expect you to produce a check or credit card (pay half up front to secure the job, pay the balance after the installation) after the installation. We wanted to put the balance on my fiance's credit card, which was already on file. When I told the supervisor to have them charge the card on file, we had a slight miscommunication so he quickly called the office. I spoke to the receptionist. It was an easy conversation. She spoke with the supervisor. Problem solved. Everyone was happy. I love my closets and would use them again. Given the age of my house and the condition of the original closets, I think this has added some "perceived" value to the home.

Although we altered the original design presented to us, the folks at Closet Stretchers were able to accommodate our changes, answer all of our questions, and get the work done effeciently and professionally. We are very happy with our closets and with the flexibility the design allows us. Before we got started we did some shopping around and found their prices to be quite competitive w/ no loss of quality.
Description of Work: Closet Stretchers installed a system in our small master bedroom closet so that my husband and I could have our own areas...his fitted for suits and shirts and mine for dresses and slacks/shirts w/ an area for shelves. They also put in a system in the childres room that included mesh drawers for toys and shoes and plenty of hanging space for "dress up" and cloths.

The design process went very well. The consultant came to the house to measure and review needs on time as scheduled, then followed up with a sketch and pricing as promised. We visited the showroom to review the materials in person, make some changes to the design and sign a contract. We were unhappy with the installation process. The installation team arrived later than expected and then completed some aspects of the installation sloppily and were unhappy when these things were pointed out when they were "finished." They grudgingly redid a couple of things, but seemed in a big hurry to leave. They did not cover up the new wood floor in the closet and scratched it, nor did they clean up their sawdust and scraps. After the crew left we discovered additional issues/sloppy work, including uneven shelves, an electrical box covered up improperly, uncovered screw holes in the shelving unit and unnecessary holes in the wall. We contacted the office and they did ultimately resolve the issues satisfactorily. Everything ended up well, but it was very disappointing to have the quality issues with the installation.

Both the representative that provided the estimate as well as the workmen who built the unit showed up on time and were polite. The gentleman who provided the estimate clearly explained the options available for our unit and the accompanying prices; he also made sure to let us know what other services they could provide us in the future given the shape and overall size of our existing closets. In terms of the construction of the unit, the men who assembled the unit worked quickly but also made sure that the unit functioned and appeared in keeping with the design we agreed upon when we received the free estimate (also a huge plus). My only complaint, and it truly is a minor one, is that one of the workers used our bathroom and left it a bit of a mess (he had an upset stomach and made no attempt to rid our bathroom of the stink he left behind). In any case, it was a small price to pay for what received in return, which was an attractive and highly functional entertainment unit. I would definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Closet Stretchers installed an entertainment unit cabinet in our living room. Though the unit they built isn't technically wood (it's mostly particle board), it does look good -- it is consistent, in terms of height and shape, with the existing woodwork (i.e. crownmolding and front door) in our living room and it provides plenty of space for us to store and hide all of our electronics as well as our DVDs, exercise equipment, and games.
