They did a fantastic job, installing the roof in 2 days and cleaning everything up after they were done. Their price estimate came in $1000 less than any of the other quotes. They also did the gutters, which came out great.

Very well. See above. The individual who answered my call was friendly and helpful. The two men who came to my home to give me an estimate, and then do the work were friendly and competent. Moreover, the senior technician answered all my questions to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: Tin strip joining the roof to a supporting beam near the point of the roof blew off during a recent high wind. Technical personnel from Central Roofing came promptly after my phone call, gave me an estimate, which I accepted. Within 48 hours, the repairs were completed.

Excellent, prompt, highly professional service. Central Roofing was a pleasure to do business with.
Description of Work: I contacted Central Roofing to get assistance with an unusual roof leak that had damaged the ceiling in my dining room. I received uniformly polite, prompt, and highly professional service from start to finish. When I phoned, Central Roofing agreed to send one of their staff to my place two days later, between 8:00 and 8:30. CR's manager Eric Kibler arrived at 8:00. Eric was very friendly and informative. He quickly assessed the problem and found a couple of old nail holes left by a previous contractor. These just required a couple of dabs of caulking, and Eric was good enough not to charge me for a full repair job for this. He also gave me quite a bit of advice on general roof maintenance. When the time comes for any future roofing repairs, I know who I will call first - Central Roofing and Siding in Rockville.

They did an excellent job. The crew arrived on time each day and went about their business-we barely saw them except in the evening. The new argon-filled skylights are a huge improvement in clarity, UV protection and insulation, and the roof is beautiful with a good, long warranty.
Description of Work: Central Roofing recovered the flat roof on our townhouse and detached garage with TPO roofing, as well as replaced two 20-year-old skylights. We chose to have them install over the old roofs, which were still in fair condition, rather than to remove them completely. Central disassembled(and reassembled)the air conditioning ducts and equipment, then prepped the old roof, insulated it completely, and finished it with TPO, with metal flashing around the skylights, chimney, roof hatch and edges. The replaced the old roof hatch which was falling apart. They also replaced a few slates on the false front.

Mitch (who I think is the owner of the company) responded promptly to an email request for a quote on vinyl replacement windows. He came to my house in the evening, looked at my windows, gave me the names of two brands of windows he would recommend (Simonton and Atrium), and in a day or two emailed me quotes for both. He was very matter-of-fact when he came to the house and didn't go through any hard-sell routine. He didn't give me one price and hint that it was negotiable, he just gave me what proved to be a reasonable price up front. I chose the Simonton windows, and Frank, the installer, came out to do his own measurements. After that, they told me they would have to add something (which came out to an additional $450) to the installation charge, as there are both bars on the outside of most of my windows and extra, jerry-rigged woodwork in the window frames that would make installation more difficult than usual. This seemed reasonable. I had Mitch order the windows, they arrived at his warehouse within a couple weeks, and we scheduled an installation date that was about a week and a half after that (all-in-all a pretty good turnaround time). Frank and his crew arrived around 9 in the morning and worked steadily all day. They got all 13 windows installed; there was only some caulking left to do on the outside when it got too dark to work, and the crew came back the next day and finished that up without my having to be there. They did an excellent job, notwithstanding having to work around the bars when wrapping the metal trim around the outside. They took all the old window debris with them when they left.
Description of Work: They installed 13 Simonton vinyl replacement windows on my house.

We requested proposals from three roofing companies. Central Roofing provided us best overall value. Mitch arrived on time to discuss our roofing needs. We made several minor adjustments while we awaited our homeowner association approval, Mitch was prompt and responsive in addressing these needs. Once we selected Central Roofing the workers arrived on time and worked until daylight ended. They came back the next day, also on time, and worked until completion. I was very impressed with their professionalism and work ethic. The clean-up was exceptional, you would not know any construction had happened other than our new roof. I would highly recommend Central Roofing, they offered us the best overall value and workmanship.

After getting the rave reviews from Angie's List, my husband called Central Roofing about a leak in our roof. The person at Central Roofing told him that he didn't even need to come look at the job to know it was a smokestack problem, and that they didn't work on smokestack problems. Sounds as if their sterling reputation has given them both distance vision and the ability to pick and choose the jobs they do.

THIS MEMBER CALLED AND DESCRIBED A LEAK THAT PERTAINED TO THEIR SMOKESTACK. WE CHARGE A $50 SERVICE CALL FEE FOR ROOF REPAIRS. NEW ROOF ESTIMATES ARE FREE. SO, IN AN EFFORT TO SAVE THIS MEMBER AN UNNECESSARY $50 SERVICE CALL FEE WE RECOMMENDED THEY CONTACT AN HVAC COMPANY TO INSPECT THE SMOKESTACK FIRST, AS OUR EMPLOYEE REALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM AND OUR SERVICE MECHANICS DO NOT REPLACE THESE STACKS. WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO COME OUT AND ADDRESS A ROOFING ISSUE THAT OUR SERVICE MECHANICS HANDLE. WE DO NOT MIND SMALL PROBLEMS OR LARGE ONES AS THE $50 SERVICE FEE PAYS FOR OUR MAN'S TIME TO INSPECT THE ROOF. OUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO BE ABLE TO SAVE OUR CUSTOMERS MONEY AND PERFORM THE WORK WE ARE CAPABLE OF PERFORMING.

They were chosen because of the Angie's list rating, their price and because they were the only contractor willing to work with us on the price for our small job. Mitch is very easy to work with and he was very good with his communications. The work was initially supposed to take one day but it rolled over to a second day for some small finishing work because they hit a snag when they discovered some thick plaster siding under our vinyl siding that they didn't expect. They had to run out to get a special cutting tool to expand the one window opening. This did result in a small increase in price, which they had warned us about ahead of time. They cleaned up nicely after completing the work and the windows look very good.

There was a large crew of 5-6 men and they tore off the old roof and replaced it with upgraded materials. They placed tarps on my bushes to protect and collect old materials. They did have their truck in my yard but put plywood down to drive on and left no mark they were there. I am very pleased with the look of our new roof as well as the service we recieved from the company. The best part is they were the least expensive bid, even with the upgraded materials. All the work was completed in one day with a few hours the next.

Overall, it went very well, Bernie was my sales rep. and he had initially given me a quote over a year and a half earlier, but I decided to push off the new roof so I could do some other work instead. Well, once it started leaking I called Bernie up again and he only raised the estimate up by $300 to account for a rise in cost of materials which I thought was very fair. Even with the slight increase, Central was still the cheapest quote I received compared to three others. Bernie was very patient (obviously), knowledgeable, helped me with the color and setup the work within two weeks. I am very pleased with the work and the product, thus far.
Description of Work: Central put on a new roof on my Colonial Home. The estimate was for $6300, but with the extra plywood sheets needed, it came out to around $6500.00.

It took some time to schedule them to do the work because several storms passed through and they were busy doing emergency roof repairs. I had to call them a couple of times for follow-up to schedule the work. When it was scheduled, they arrived on time and quickly patched up places where the shingles had come off. The guy said he would cut back some limbs that were overhanging the roof as well, but it didn't look like he did that. There have been several heavy rains since then and no problems.

The company's rep said, they would take the job of replacing the rakeboard that had blown off during a recent storm though it would generally be too small a job for them. They came within a couple of days, as promised, and replaced the house part. Functionally and most importantly, we assume it will do the job but, it's not aesthetically appealing because it is substantially different in color from the rest of the siding (not too devastating because it's on the side of the house). When I called, disappointed that the part was very different in color. I'd describe it as a white vs. tan the rep said, they had done the favor of doing the small job and that the part matched the original siding color (from 10ish years ago). I would have preferred a closer match with the current color and if a mismatch from fading arose in the future, would have "crossed that bridge" then.

After 20 years, we decided to bite the bullet and get a new roof on the house and the detached garage. Also new gutters all the way around. Three estimates. Two from Angie's List and one from a flier that came in the mail. From Angie's List I chose the top rated company, Central Roofing, and one other that appeared to be smaller and in my area. They all responded quickly. Central Roofing had the most professional presentation: Typed up on their on form, enclosed in a slick folder which included a booklet showing all the colors offered from the manufacturer that they use. This one, I thought, will definitely be the most expensive. The roofer whose flier came in the mail had a form which he filled out by hand, detailing all the work to be done. Some of his handwriting was a little hard to read but he showed up in person twice to help explain everything very thoroughly. He was personable and I leaned toward choosing him. The smaller company offered their bid over the phone and it was much lower than I had expected. Even though I felt this guy knew his stuff, it seemed that he was used to doing repairs more than complete roofs. He offered to just fix the skylight and the pipe collars, saying that we could probably get away without replacing the roof for several more years. He was probably right but we were prepared to get the whole thing done and over with. So he was out. In the end, it turned out that the personable guy was higher than Central Roofing, with their slick presentation, and he wanted to just lay the new roof on top of our old one! Our decision was made. Bill Greenberg, of Central Roofing, came out to loan us a large sample plaque with the tile samples which helped us decide on the color. We chose a date to start. We were prepared for days of a blocked driveway, trampled landscaping and debris scattered around. There was none of that. They showed up early, with one truck, finished that evening and the place was spotless. The next day, the truck with the gutters came and it was the same story. Done and gone with no mess left behind. What a relief that was. It wasn't nearly as traumatic as expected and we are entirely happy with the results. Thank you, Mr. Bill Greenberg!

Great experience with Central. Eric showed up with an estimate within a day or two of me calling. He provided an estimate of the labor and advised that the total cost of the job would depend on whether plywood or fire-resistant timber was needed. In the end, I only needed a little plywood, which helped costs. Eric is extremely personable and I felt confident the whole time. Very transparent process. The workers knocked the job out in a day. Cleaned the place up well. The roof has done well in a few test cases of heavy rain. I would recommend them without reservations and I may use them for oversize gutters when I finally lose faith in my current standard-size ones.

They kept to the anticipated length of service. This was a complete re-roofing with some board replacement, flashing and they were kind enough to remove an old TV antenna. The results are excellent in appearance and function. They even granted a reduction if we paid cash. The cleanup was excellent. I would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: The roofing estimate was done in a very timely manner. It accommodated my schedule. They were very open and interested in our comparison shopping. After doing this, they came back for more measurements and gave thorough instructions about the changes in roofing since we had last had it done. This additional detail of venting on the roof is both practical and energy saving.

We got an estimate from Bernie Greenberg, who was very helpful at explaining our options. The new gutters were installed about two weeks later. It took about a half a day to complete the work. The old gutters were removed. The new gutters look great and are operating really well during heavy downpours. The only issue I had was that they did not clean up all that well. We found some small pieces of old gutter in our yard and at least 10 screws from the old gutters strewn in our grass, along with a few pieces of sharp metal. Luckily we did not step on any of these things or run them over with the lawn mower, which could have been disastrous. We let Bernie know about this, and he said he would speak with the gutter people about this so it would not happen again in the future.

They came and gave quote. I was not home for that; however, they were in constant contact with me through picking the right shutters that I wanted and the work that would be performed. They even dropped off samples of shutters(an extra trip). They were very patient and professional throughout the work. I was not even home when they had to remove old rotten wood but had let me know that that most likely would be done. The job was done professionally and left the outside of the house clean and no damage to anything else. Bernie was my contact person and he was professional and helpful.

We started out thinking of a house painting project in which we would repair the siding, wood frame water damage, and replace the sliding glass doors. After research and a number of conversations, we determined the siding we had was not available anymore and replacement was the only practical approach. Using the List, we contacted four highly rated contractors that did both siding and doors. Three of them came out to the house, met with us, and provided written proposals. We contacted references & visited a number of recently completed jobs. We went to showrooms & checked out a number of possible doors. Anyone of the three companies that quoted would have been good contractors. Central Roofing and Siding Company stood out however based on their understanding of the job, practical suggestions, flexibility, & competitive pricing. We signed contracts in late July for a September start. That included a three week lead time to order doors and materials. The project ran from 9 to 24 September 2008. Our Central Roofing and Siding point of contact was their vice-president, Mr. Mitch Greenberg. He was very easy to work with & made a number of excellent suggestions, many of which we adopted. The work crews were professional and courteous. They picked up each afternoon before departing. The men wrapping the trim with vinyl covered aluminum were true craftsmen. The work requires getting both the geometry right & bending the metal so water cannot intrude. Each phase of the project had separate crews. They were all quite experienced, efficient, and clearly took pride in their work. We worked together with Mitch to finalize the details of the work scope prior to signing contracts (one each for doors & siding/trim). Even so, there were a couple of changes that arose one based upon a practical issue wrapping window frames, and the other our adding the front face of the detached garage to the project. The net increase was about 2% of the total. The project was better for the changes. We were quite pleased with the end result. All damage was repaired. The house is air tight & better insulated and the gutters do not leak and move water away from the house more effectively.
Description of Work: Our house is a 29-year old Colonial two story house with Masonite siding, wood frames, and aluminum gutters. The house has approximately 3,200 square feet of living space, an attached garage, and a detached garage. The existing structure was experiencing siding and some wood frame rot from water damage and age. Project objectives were to catch up on home maintenance & install a minimal maintenance exterior. We expect lower heating and cooling costs. The project could have been categorized under siding, doors, and gutters as all were included. It occurred in three phases: replace the doors, install siding and trim, & replace gutters. We maintained the original color scheme which was Snow White siding with Portsmouth Blue trim, gable vents, and shutters. Phase 1: Replaced four existing sliding glass doors with CertainTeed vinyl doors having low emission, argon gas filled, & Energy Star rated glass. Work on-site was accomplished in about one day. Phase 2: Repaired water & exposure damage to old Masonite (pressed wood particles) siding, covered that with 3/8-inch polystyrene foam board insulation, & covered that with CertainTeed Carolina Beaded 6.5-inch vinyl siding on the main house. Installed vinyl soffit under the eaves. Wrapped all trim, face boards, & frames with vinyl covered aluminum. Replaced gable vents and shutters with vinyl equivalents, & wrapped the two roof-line gable vents which were not removable. The detached garage s front face received new siding, and trim wrapping. This work took approximately 1-1/2 weeks. Phase 3: Replaced gutters all around the house and on the front face of the detached garage. This included adding Leaf Relief gutter inserts for the second story gutters. This work took one day.

The roof didn't leak immediately, but it did start to leak badly. It leaked as if there was no flashing. They attempted to fix this, but it did not work. I called them and they checked it and said it was OK, but it is still leaking very badly. The roof is fine, it's the flashing that just doesn't work. That was part of the contract for working on the roof. The last time I called them, they said they would come out, but no one ever did and I don't think they will. I've contacted others, and may have it redone. I noticed that they had such high ratings in Angie's List and everyone is so happy with them, but I am not.
