Central Exteriors

I submitted a simple request with my information for an estimate to which I received an emailed response (from Terry) stating I am just outside the service area. I live in DC. I didn't know city licenses were given out based on quadrants. I understand not servicing certain areas because of bad history but it needs to be clearly stated on their website what areas they do service. The claim that 'Central Roofing and Siding Co. serves Washington D.C. and the surrounding Maryland suburbs' is completely false advertisement.

I called and talked to Eric about doing some simple roofing jobs including installing a replacement skylight and repairing some flashing around our clerestory windows. Eric said he had never heard of the term clerestory!! He said that they wouldn't work on the skylight unless we had a complete new roof done and new skylight. Basically, he said that they didn't want the job, and wouldn't even come out to look it over. I think that they don't want to do anything on flat roofs.

They did a really good job. He was on time and everything was good.

Bill made the estimate easy, without going through the whole sales pitch that other companies insisted on. Estimate came in somewhat lower than the other companies, but without the haggling. For final measurements, Frank showed up on time and cut to the chase on the work that was required. On the day of the work, Frank arrived on time and made a full day of it with his helper. I watched and helped out on occasion and can say that the installation was done competently and efficiently. Frank took time to answer my specific questions about a few leaks I had related to the old windows, and to check out other possible sources of the leaks. Crew cleaned up everything before leaving. Job well done.

I needed to stop the leakage into my garage from the area surrounding my chimney. Accordingly, I contacted roofing repair companies, but Central Roofing was the only one that gave me an estimate. Eric, very promptly came out and gave me an estimate (within four days of my phone call) and scheduled the work for the next week. Because of rain, the work had to be postponed to the following week. Eric showed up even before the scheduled time and did an excellent job and gave a two-year warranty. His attitude was exceptional. Despite a sore shoulder which restricted his arm motion, he worked professionally and enthusiastically and was very friendly. Communicating with this company was uncommonly simple, since human beings answered the phone. No menus or answering machines involved!

They were fantastic. They were patient with the insurance hassles, they would send me emails to let me know they were still waiting or that they had heard from them and what the next step was. It is a family owned business and Cary Greenburg runs the business for the most part. He came out a few times and helped us choose siding that would be a good color and brought samples He would come out early on a Saturday morning to accommodate our work schedules, he was very responsive. The people who installed the siding were very professional and friendly with our kids. They found a bees nest in a light fixture and they cleaned it out just to be nice and because they were already up there. They were fantastic, very easy to work with and I was very happy with them. When I was paying the bill I found out they do doors to, so I called them back. They were able to find the door that I wanted which required a little research on their part. They put me in touch with a carpenter to do the painting and staining of the door and it looks fantastic. I got the sense that they do doors, but not all the time and it is outside their normal business. However, they were willing to go the extra mile. The door is gorgeous.

Outstanding and EASY! Came out within 5 days of calling to do the estimate, completed the work within 3 weeks of estimate. They were very professional and clearly knew their craft. They also were the best price -- more than $1000 less than our highest other quote. The workers completed the project within one day and the yard was spotless. Excellent from start to finish - thank you.

I received estimates from two other companies and Central Roofing was $2000 less. They did the job in a timely manner and did a couple extra jobs. They replaced the attic fan and the shed roof. They came at a reasonable time and completed it in a timely fashion.

Our experience with this company started off well, the woman on the phone was very pleasant and when we explained that we did not the own the home yet and needed a specific time, she was able to confirm an exact appointment time. Unfortunately, they were over an hour late for this exact appointment keeping several parties waiting. After inspection, they told us it would be between $3500-5K for a new roof and they would get us a report in writing. When we got the report, we were surprised to find the estimate for the roof had nearly doubled. When we questioned the reason for the increase, we received a very terse email that said the on-site estimate was only verbal. Then, a couple minutes later, we received another email stating they were sorry for the couple thousand dollar mistake and they had sent us someone else's estimate. Needless to say, we were concerned by attention to detail from this company and have decided to have another company complete the work.

They seemed knowledgable and helped with cost and selection. They showed up and did the work in stages but without much communication about the process or schedule though the work did get done timely. We had a problem with a downspout and how to handle the rain barrel but they worked at it 'til it was correct. Over all we are happy with the work but when we wanted to pay we were told there was a limit on how much we could put on a credit card. We were not told this when we placed the order with a credit card. Fortunately we could pay the bill without the card. Be sure you bring this up if you are using a credit card.

The work was prompt, clean, and exactly as promised. There was a hitch with the skylights, as the first ones ordered didn't work. So they had to reorder a different set, and those were installed a couple of weeks later, again in a very efficient manner. The one glitch was missed communication about the timing for the intial installation. "Punctuality" was not a good description for what happened, but it was the only category I could see that referred to this situation. I told the estimator that I would be out of town and preferred that they waited till I was home for the installation. While I was away, I received a number of cell phone messages saying they would be coming on a particular date, and then that they had come. I didn't receive the messages until after the installation was complete--while I was still away. On the whole, I'd have rather been here, but since everything went just fine, it may be just as well. There was no request to pay anything beyond the down payment until the whole job was finished. I would definitely recommend Central Roofing to others and use them myself again if the situation demanded.

After checking Angie?s list and the BBB, we decided to go with Central. Their quote was competitive when compared to the other companies we contacted in the area (their warranty was also). The real deciding factor was the immediate feeling we got after contacting the office. After speaking with Eric, Sarah and Terry, we knew the company was serious about customer service. They were very patient as we worked out the details of the project. And as I expected, my project started and finished on time and without a single hitch. We love our new roof! I hope to have them come back to finish our siding and gutters soon. I highly recommend this group of professionals.

Terry got back to me immediately and referred me to a contractor who could do the job as it's not something they do without replacing the roof.

The roof itself is fine; however, nails were driven through and now protrude dangerously into a storage area...roofing was left throughout the inside of the space that was completed...I'm still finding nails and pieces of roof in the yard...These problems could have easily been avoided with some brief preparation in my opinion. When I complained I was treated rudely by the foreman. The workers themselves were very polite, conscientious, hard working and responsive. I mentioned to the sales person that I wanted a garden space around the area protected prior to the job - I believe this was not communicated to the foreman nor did they let me know they were coming to do the job. This price, however, was the best that I found...

They were professional and responsive. They were excellent and the service was good. The price was good and they cleaned up well. They did a good job on the roof.

I have had a leaking roof over a bay window in my master bedroom for years. It had been "repaired" several times by handymen, however it eventually began to leak (mostly when with heavy rains) again and caused a major whole in the ceiling over the bay window. Eric from Central came to look at the problem. I'm not sure what he did or what the problem was, but after he fixed it, I have not had a leak for one year. This happened last year around the Christmas season. I meant to write this review then but I got distracted by the holidays. Yesterday, I looked at my bay window ceiling where the old damage has since been repaired, and I realized that I had never thanked Central and Eric for restoring not only my roof, but my piece of mind.

I contacted Central Roofing via Angie's List one evening and received a phone call from them at 9 AM the next day to schedule an estimate. I had water leaking from my kitchen ceiling after heavy rains. My gutters were old and clogged, so I knew I wanted them replaced with something with leaf guards. Eric came over on the scheduled day (about 4 days after the initial call) and diagnosed another problem: a crack in the facade through which rain could be driven if the rain came in at an angle, such as what happens in a major rainstorm. He filled the crack then and there. After taking measurements, he gave me an estimate that was significantly lower than one I had received from Thompson Creek. While Thompson Creek looked like a good company, and friends have been very happy with the work that company did on their houses, I decided to go with Central Roofing due to their lower price, their straightforward sales approach, and their availability. The roof was done first, on a Saturday. The crew showed up on time (8 AM) and went straight to work. They cleaned up pretty well (some shingle papers were left in trees). A few days later, dodging rainstorms, the gutters were replaced. I simply found them done when I returned home from work. Nice.

I needed to replace some dented PVC coated aluminum trim around my garage door. Called several exterior and handyman companies for a quote. The size of the work is small comparing to whole house siding or trim replacement. Most of other companies I contacted were sluggish and un-enthusiastic to provide quote. Those who provided quotes were sky high. Central Roofing and Siding stood out in responsiveness and professionalism. Their office manager Sarah promptly contacted me to provide a reasonable quote. Once I accepted the quote, the work was scheduled very quickly and finished in less than three days. The work quality is good. They even noticed that there is lose caulking in areas I did not specify and fixed it for me along with the trim replacement. Even though the work is small, the responsiveness and workmanship left me a very positive impression. I will definitely call them first if I have future large exterior work around my house.

Their price was great. They worked professionally, carefully and quickly. I can see the gutters and it looks very good. We haven?t received any rains yet. We have no problems. All seems to be good.

My original siding was falling off, and only 1/2 of my house had old style gutters. Sufficed to say my house looked run down, and the gutters were constantly clogging. I went through a bidding process of 3 highly rated Angies list companies, and quickly narrowed the selection process down to 2. Ultimately both the "good feeling" and lower price is what had me choose Central Roofing and Siding. Unfortunately the original quote didn't properly reflect everything I had asked for, and the price had to go up $1000 to properly accomodate all of my original requests. Once I placed the order, they begain their work quickly. Ordering the parts only took a week or so, and once they were in the company started work, and continued to work even when it was snowing (I was really surprised). I noticed a few issues such as a lot nails and pieces of metal on the ground (as I did not want my dog to walk on them), they didn't replace the dry rotted wood I had worked into the contract (and pointed out to everyone who went on a walkthrough for me), and missing insulation on my house (I inspected their work almost every evening). I contacted Mitch Greenberg and he was VERY responsive and ultimately addressed all the issues during the installation. There was a miscommunication with the gutter installer as they were supposed to talk to me before choosing where to put downspouts, but in the end their choices weren't far off from what I would have asked for. I do have a couple of follow up items to discuss with the company, but am relatively sure they will address them.

Excellent customer service. I did not choose to go with Central because their roofing and siding estimates were significantly higher than other quotes I received. Their window prices were more reasonable but they were unable to provide the options I was looking for.

Quote for the brand window I was interested in was just about exactly what I was expecting. I had received cheaper quote for a brand window I did not prefer. There were more expensive brands ($1000 per window installed) that I was not looking to spend for. I was concerned about wood rot around some window frames, so I wanted a contractor withe experience in exterior modifications, in case the rot was worse than I could tell. This concern made me shy away from finding a handy man to install box store bought windows, or going with a window factory installer. Installation was scheduled, performed and completed on time. We are very happy with the quality of the windows and the installation.

I found Central to be the best option for pricing and also for the way they conducted business. They suggested I go with six inch gutters which have been very helpful with all the heavy rain we can get in the area. In addition, they have stopped the erosion problems I was having. There was zero pressure to go with any gutter helmet/guard/protection system. It was available but there was no hard sell as I got from other companies. The job was done very well and other than a couple of old nails that got lost in the grass there was no debris left behind from the job.

Friendly, efficient, professional, fast and tidy.

Really well, we had a little communication mix-up but that didn't prevent them from showing up ready to work. They completed the entire job in just a few hours and properly mounted the new skylights. The old ones had been improperly installed and one was leaky. They also cleaned up quickly and well; even coming inside to sweep the dust and dirt that fell into the house during the skylight replacement.
