The work went without a problem. They were flexible with in scheduling the work. I had to push it back a week and Central Roofing accommodated my schedule. They delivered the roofing materials a day or two before doing the work. The crew arrived around 8am on Saturday to do the roofing and then did the gutters a few days later. I believe that rain was predicted for the next Monday so I was happy to have the crew there on Saturday. The roofing work took most of the day with a full crew working. My only complaints are that I found a few cigarette butts on the lawn and driveway afterwards and the cleanup could have been more thorough. Cigarette butts should have gone out with the trash.
Description of Work: Central Roofing replaced (reshingled) the roof and replaced the gutters/downspouts.

I contacted this company on February 11, 2013, today is March 1, 2013. The initial call was to set up an appointment for an estimate to replace the siding on my chimney. I described my small job to the woman in the office and she took all of my information and told me someone would be out to look at my property; they would call me back with an estimate. A week goes by and I didn't hear anything. I call the office back to see if they have an estimate for me. They apologize and inform me that no one has looked at my property. They take my information again and set a new date. The day after they were to look at my property a second time, I call again. They have no record of my estimate. They are very apologetic and I decide to give them another chance. They assure me that someone will be out as soon as possible. A few days later, I get a message on my machine asking if I was still interested in having the work done. I call back today and explain my situation to the woman at the office and she tell me her company does not do any chimney work. After I compose myself to respond with the events of the past three weeks, she checks her system. Her system indicates no estimate. I'm an easy going person and I trust the Angie's List reviews. I wish I'd read the more recent ones. Horrible experience. HORRIBLE!!

It appears we receive most, if not all, of our bad reviews on homes we do not work on. In this instance, the potential customer called and said her HOA had flagged her home because her chimney was rotting and needed to be fixed. We explained we did not repair any wood work, we install vinyl siding and this is potentially a project that would not be cost effective to her. However, we informed the customer that we had an estimator who lived in her neighborhood, who was on vacation. We would have him take a look when he returns if she wanted to wait. She agreed. Where the confusion comes in, is the times she called us back, she explained to our office manager that she was looking for an estimate to "repair my chimney". We have never done work like this, therefore she received the responses that were correct. It was a simple mis-understanding. The estimator did call her and leave his cell-phone number for her to call him directly. Which she did not do. We are sorry this happened, but we did make an attempt to see if we could help her.

I wish Angie's List would allow me to make this more clear in my Profile. We DO offer Free Estimates for replacement work, but we do not offer free estimates for repair work. For repair work, we have a $50 diagnostic fee that covers climbing up on the roof and determining the source of the leak. We then apply the $50 to the cost of the repair. We have found that our repair prices are usually half that of our competitors.

They came out promptly for the appointment. They suggested that I replace the roof within two years, which I know I need to do, and gave me a quote. They worked hard, did exactly what they said they would and were very professional. The only small issue is a leak formed a few months later, and we scheduled an appointment for them to come fix it, which they didn't show up for. It could have been weather related, but they will come out next week to fix the leak.

The overall job was excellent. They arrived at 7:00am with a crew of six men and immediately began work. They covered the front shrubbery and moved deck furniture on the back deck. They brought in a roll-off trash container for all of the refuges. They went about installing the new roof quickly and professionally. They had completed the job by 2:00 that afternoon and it looks outstanding. In cleaning up they even used a magnetic rack over the lawn front and back to gather any nails that were removed from the old roof and fallen to the ground. When they left you couldn't tell they had been there except for the handsome new roof.
Description of Work: This was a roof replacement. Central removed the old roofing down to the plywood sheeting. They replace two small sections of plywood that had rotted. They reapplied roofing felt and installed Certainteed Landmark Architectural shingles. They tightened the gutters, repainted the vent pipes and completely cleaned up when finished.

Like he did with the roof, Terry came out personally to give me an estimate and show me samples. He was very thorough in describing the various options available, and I never felt pressured in any way to go with a more expensive product. When I decided to have Central go ahead and do the work, I was contacted by Frank, who made arrangements to come out and take precise measurements. He then called me back to schedule a date for the job. He and his crew of three guys were courteous, professional, careful with my belongings, and neat. They were also very polite and friendly. Frank is the best! In my kitchen I have plantation shutters, which I was told, when they were installed, that if I ever had the windows replaced, they would have to be taken out and would not be able to be reused and put back in. Well, obviously the person who told me that (from Next Day Blinds) never met Frank! At one point I walked into the kitchen and was surprised to see that he and his crew had replaced the windows and the shutters looked as though they hadn't been touched. They told me that they removed the shutters from one window before installing the new window and realized that they didn't need to take down the shutters at all, so they replaced the second window without having to remove the shutters. It looks absolutely perfect. Frank did a great job of quietly supervising without getting in his workers' way. He did the final caulking and inspection. The whole job took them one day, from about 9:30 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. I am extremely pleased with the whole experience and would absolutely recommend this company without hesitation.
Description of Work: This is the second time I have used this company, and I can't say enough good things about them. I had them replace my roof in 2011 and wrote a positive review about that experience. This time I contacted them to get an estimate to replace all of the original 14 wood sash windows in my 60+-year-old house.

The work was actually divided up into two projects: Replacement of a skylight, some roof repair, recaulking, etc ($1,250.00 on 12/15/2013; and the gutter/downspout and leaf protection project 12/18/2013 ($2,840). We were pleased and impressed with both crews. They were punctual, personable, neat, skilled, left a clean worksite, and the final products are high quality to date, length to be determined. We are also impressed with Blake Talbott and his staff for the coordiation of these projections. He didn't rush us into decisions and was very forthcoming with answers to any questions. We will use this company again
Description of Work: This project began with the purchase of Angies's Big Deal of $480 for 5 Feet of High Capacity 5" Gutter or 2x3 Downspout from Central Roofing & Siding Co. As it turned out, we decided to replace our home gutter system and downspouts with upgraded 6" gutters, and added a leaf protection system, and also had some required roof work repaired and a skylight replaced.

It is rare when everything goes just the way it is supposed to - and then some. I was treated very respectfully during the initial appointment to discuss the job (one of 4 companies I contacted). The price quoted was the least of them. They arrived early on the day they were expected and were gone before I arrived home from work at 4:15 pm. Other than the roof, there was no sign they had ever been there - as a matter of fact, our patio, porch and yard looked better than before they had arrived! And the roof pleases me every day I come home.

We thought everything was taken care of, but a few months later we noticed leaking in our first floor living room and second floor office. We called them back and they were very responsive. They sent someone over in a timely fashion to look into where the leaks were coming from. He told us that our chimney was the cause of the leaks and that the spray foam that was used to seal the chimney was not the right material and therefore was crumbling. (The spray foam was used at least 6 years ago before I owned the house.) I was happy that he diagnosed the problem, but wonder why the previous roofers from the company did not notice this basic problem as a possible cause of some of the leaking. Unfortunately, the company does not do roof work so I we had to go with another company.
Description of Work: Last Spring I bought the Angie's List Big Deal to do some basic roof repairs. We told the company that there were a few leaks from the roof that we wanted plugged up, but weren't sure exactly where they were coming from.

Just to clarify this member's last statement - we certainly do roof work. We do not do chimney work, which is what they needed upon our 2nd inspection. Leaks like what they have are sometimes very difficult to diagnose. Initially, we thought we had the issue fixed by doing some maintenance on the roof. When a portion of her leaks returned, we then turned our investigation to other possible culprits.

A roof is an investment that you don?t want to worry about for 20+ years. So I did my due diligence on getting roughly 6 estimates before selecting the company. There are some LESSONS LEARNED in this roof project. So here is the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY: The Good: 1) Family-owned company that has been around for 60 years. 2) The sales rep I worked with, Terry, was fine ? and I could tell he was a good father based on some of our quick exchanges. 3) The price was very reasonable (2nd lowest) of my 6 estimates and replacing sheets of plywood was only $55 per (other companies were going to charge $100). 4) Two parts to the job: roofing team and siding team. One roofing team worker was particularly good. The entire siding team was especially good. 5) On the siding job, the gutters were supposed to be removed carefully and then replaced so that the fascia boards could be wrapped. Being home for much of the siding work, I saw that only the nail was pulled away just enough to do the job and the gutters were not taken down. When I questioned this charge, Terry immediately and graciously agreed to remove it. Terry also worked with me on the price of the linear feet of rake boards that were replaced when the number I got from the siding team differed greatly from the amount I was going to be charged. The Bad: 1) From a home inspection and 5 other roof estimates, I knew that at least one particular sheet of plywood needed to be replaced. I purposely planted myself in a chair waiting to see if that would take place - you could see it giving way under the worker?s weight. When I saw it wasn?t going to happen and questioned the foreman, he tried to explain that it didn?t need it. I then insisted, he ended up replacing that piece and an adjacent piece. (Fine by me since I don?t want any issues with this roof for another 20 years!). 2) Terry tried to sell me new gutters when they appeared fine and when other roofing estimates suggested that it was not needed (Terry?s rationale was that the fascia wrapping was going to remove the nails and putting nails back in the same holes would make them weaker. Understood via physics, but I weighed the ?risk? and it was not worth new gutters). 3) Terry strongly suggested that I be home for both days of the siding work ? basically because I held them to task on what they said they were going to do and when I saw differently, I spoke up. He might have thought I was a PITA, but I do what I say I?m going to do and expect the same from people I contract with. However, staying home cost me some PTO hours, but it also saved me money (gutter removal and linear board feet). I?m sure it was an honest mistake, but if I would have not verified before they left, I would have been out another $100. 4) The roofing guys were all Spanish speaking and barely spoke any English. This meant that the directions I gave the foreman to save the pieces of plywood (heck, I?m paying for the whole sheet, so why not save the pieces for the attic insulation job I was about to do myself). So, I had to climb on top of the trash truck to pull out the spare sheets. The roofing team was not that cooperative. 5) On day two for the siding project, I was expecting them from 8am and when no one showed up, I had to call Terry around noon. He found out and told me that the truck broke down and no one called him, so he couldn?t tell me. Glad they came on Sunday for 4 hours to finish up the job! (Siding team was GOOD!!). 6) Haven?t seen if any nails were left on the property. They were supposed to come back with one of those magnetic rollers to pick up any strays. They didn?t do this. I have a 3 year old niece and will contact them for this work (hope I don?t have to revisit this posting). The Ugly: Nothing UGLY (by my definition). YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT: 1) If you do not fully understand the roof work that will be done (got estimates from a Yugo to a Mercedes), then you will not know if it?s done to your initial conversation because the sales guy is not the guy who is doing the work. While I didn?t like the fact that I had to be home (from work) for the roof job, I?m glad I was to ensure that some plywood got replaced and my being home allowed me to question charges that were eventually taken off the roof price. 2) Trust but verify. Many contractors look good on Angie?s List, but they still need to have their work verified. I can only imagine how many people sign a roof contract, have it done while they are at work, come home and while the shingles look nice, they think it was an excellent job. It?s YOUR house and you are responsible for it. Take ownership of being the project manager so it gets done right the first time, not have to arrange to have it done right the second time.

He came to look at the problem. Climbed in the attic and then to the roof. He thought he found the loose shingle and repaired what he thought was the problem, a loose shingle. He made the real effort to inspect the situation and not immediately suggest a new roof as didi the other roofers, who never bothered to look inside. NOTE: a year later ---The leak is reoccurring. The estimate was professional and pricing was competitive, actually slightly lower than the two other bids I had on the job, for the same or higher quality materials. Based on pricing as well as other Angie's List accounts of good experiences working with this company, I decided to use Central. The job went very smoothly and was completed in one day. The completed job was very attractive. The crew removed all the debris and left the site clean. There have been a few minor leaks in some areas around chimney and where the main roof intersected a screened porch. However, Central sent out a technician right away each time to repair the caulking, which seemed to do the job.
Description of Work: Complete roofing job, including removal of old roofing shingles, new underlay, new shingles, caulking, etc.
