Beltway Movers and Storage

It went excellent. They were very helpful and reasonable. They took care of my things. Three people came out. They started loading around 8 a.m. and we were settled around 2 p.m. They were very fast. They packed up our lamps, artwork and TVs. They were very courteous and put my mind at ease.

They were good. My father paid for it because he was the one moving. But it seemed like a pretty good price.

They arrived to my home little earlier than I expected which I appreciated. They were very quick and they were not rough with my stuff. They also assembled the furniture for me. Two movers came to do the work and it took them about 6 hours to do the entire move.

The teams that we dealt with during the move out and the move in were excellent to work with. The movers handled every item properly, and even took the time to re-wrap fragile items that were not sufficiently protected. They were professional, efficient, and responsive to all of our concerns during the moves. All of the items were returned in great shape even after two moves. We would definitely recommend this company in the future.

It went very well. I was very pleased. The professionalism of the coordinator that I worked with was great and exactly what I was looking for.

We had a very bad experience with another mover who was a no-show. We called Beltway up, explained our situation, and they had a crew out there the next day. The crew wrapped up all of our furniture and were able to also get everything out of our storage unit which was just down the hill from our condo. They did kind of mess up our stairwell in an attempt to get our Queen-sized box spring up...but then again I also did some damage trying to get a couch up it too!! We asked them to try and they did, so I can't really fault them for it. Overall, we were very happy to have them come out on such short notice and move everything we had.

I would like to start by saying at the time of this review we are still waiting a call back from Beltway Movers about the damage to our house (hardwood floors) and nordic track x9i series incline trainer (treadmill). During the quoting process my wife had informed the rep that we had the treadmill which would probably require some disassembly for the move. Needles to say when the movers arrived they refused to dissemble the treadmill at first and spent about 30 minutes to take it out the door before finally realizing it truly needed to be disassembled in order to fit out the door. This is where everything started to take a turn for the worst. They decided to only partially remove the top piece (stripping a screw) from the base but leaving it connected via the electrical wiring. They did not wrap the machine at all and now it looks like in was dropped on payment and slide across the parking lot (with all the scratches and bent pieces) but that is not even the worst part. The worst part is when they arrived at our new house (which by the way was an hour and 35 minutes later (should have only taken 45 minutes with traffic going the speed limit)) they decided to carry in the treadmill with out laying down padding on the hardwood floors and dropped in causing several deep scratches in the floors and fronts stairs. At this time I would not recommend Beltway movers to any of my friends, family, colleagues, or fellow Angie's list users. I am hoping if we do receive a call back tomorrow that Beltway Movers will correct the problem by hiring a professional to repair our floor and stairs and replace our treadmill.

The first time it was "a pig in a poke". I didn't know about Angie's List and had no way of checking any reviews. Initially, I was desperate for a moving company and figured I would have to find movers also. I first saw their truck on the Beltway (495) and wrote down the number that was on the side of their truck. I was thrilled to find out that they had movers too! I have now used Beltway Movers a total of 3 times and, if the need arises again, will use them again. I have never been disappointed. They show up on time. They are courteous and professional at all times and, as my son said, "they have good attitudes". I was told that only 1 in 50 applicants are accepted in their program. They definitely do a great job of hiring the best people they can get. I did not know about Angie's List at the time and I was absolutely pleased with the result.

They are very trustworthy and easy to work with. They do a great job. Victor, the manager, is terrific and excellent to work with. They are all very professional.

The guys showed up to my storage unit right on time. They were very conscientious and polite and they were done in no time!

Overall the move went very well from start to finish. Completed move in less than 4 hours.

The guys were very nice and courteous. They got to work right away upon arrival after walk though. They did not plastic wrap any of my furniture. They did remove the mirror from the dresser and headboard from the bed frame. The loading went fairly smooth except for the bed frame, which is a very heavy tempurpedic adjustable bed frame where the head and legs can be raised and it vibrates. Like I said, its extremely heavy and hard to move. There are some pieces that are removable that should be removed for the move, but were not until I did them myself at the townhouse before they tried to move it up stairs to the bedrooms. When they loaded the bed frame into the truck it was a tight fit, and I wanted it flat to rest the tempurpedic mattress on it because those types of mattresses need to be laid flat or else the material sags and ruins the shape of the mattress. Well, the bed frame slipped out of the hands of the one guy causing one of the T shaped brackets that attach to the headboard to bed to twist almost 90 deg. I thought it was broken, luckily it was just bent and was able to be bent back. It was not perfect, but still worked in the end. Those T-brackets that are used to connect the headboard stick out a little past the edge of the bed frame itself. They really need to be removed, as it will prevent damage to the walls, and give more room, making the move easier. They refused to remove them, so I had to do it myself. There is also a U shaped metal piece used to keep the mattress from sliding off the frame when the head is elevated. They were not going to remove it either, and it stuck up vertically from the bed frame. So, I removed it myself as well. I had to remove them to prevent potential damage to my walls in the stairwell. The frame was still a tight squeeze, and they scrapped the paint off the corner of the one wall. I was very glad I removed the pieces. My dad and I re-installed the pieces back to the bed frame as well, because we wanted to make some adjustments and make sure the one piece was properly bent back into shape to fit properly. That was the only major issue I had. There were some new marks on my dresser as well, but not too bad. I used a wood touch-up pen on the marks and it blends in well enough. I just wish they would have removed the drawers and taped the door that swing open shut as it would have made the drawer much lighter and easier to move. The swing door had some marks that were most likely caused by it swinging open during the move, but I did not see it happen, so I have no real proof, just the marks. I looked inside the truck and everything was padded and blanketed nice for the move to the new place. The only issue on billing was had they did the time for the billing. They billed 1 hour for the drive from Rockville to my condo in Gaithersburg right on the edge of Rockville almost, and another 45 mins at the end of the job for the drive back and clean up. I don't know if that's common practice. If it is, I really don't agree with it. I even made this complaint on an online survey they sent me after the move. I received a call regarding my survey and the comments I made, as listed above in this review. I was surprised they actually read the survey. They did agree to refund me $60 for travel time, but I have not seen it refunded to my credit card yet. They were concerned about my satisfaction with the move and their services. So, I give them props for making the effort to reach out to me and offering a slight refund. I got 3 quotes, with one from Town and Country (who I used last year) and Metropolitan movers. Metro was the cheapest, and Town and Country was the highest, but not too much more than Beltway. Beltway did an estimate over the phone, Metro and Town and Country made on site estimates. Each had different charges on their estimates for time and materials. Overall, good move, I just disagree with not even willing to make the move easier for themselves by not removing some pieces from the bed frame and the drawers from the dresser. Although I gave them mostly all As, I would not recommend any mover that does not take the time to make the move easier for themselves and not using plastic wrap on all of the furniture to make sure they stay clean and mark free. I was told there was plastic wrap on the truck, but it was only used for high end and fragile pieces.

I have used Beltway Movers several times in the past and have always highly recommended them. This time, however, I had much less to move than my my estimate. I made the mistake of pointing that out and then they moved so slowly! I am used to movers hustling, but these movers walked extremely slowly, drove extremely slowly, and unpacked extremely slowly. Surprise - they took even longer than predicted. And they were still there when furniture from a store was being delivered (which was a problem because the movers still had the elevator). When I emailed them to complain, they gave me a vague response. They also lost a cord from my exercise bike. When I complained about that and gave them the cost, they sent me a check for that. Yeah!

We were moving locally from Potomac to Bethesda. I got three quotes: Beltway, Metropolitan, and Town & Country. All three came to our home, but Doug Smith from Beltway Movers was by far the most thorough and professional. He spent a lot of time walking through the whole house and pulling together a detailed estimate based on cubic feet. The estimate happened to be lower than the other two companies, but even if it were the same or slightly higher I still would have chosen Beltway because I was so impressed by Doug's professionalism. Doug's approach to the move was responsive and flexible. He always returned phone calls and emails immediately. His attitude was, 'The more you can pack yourselves, the more money you will save -- and if you end up packing more than you thought the week before the move, that is fine.' He also spent a lot of time thinking about our massive British armoire and furniture, and how many men would be required to take it apart and put it back together. And finally, he dropped off some used boxes a few weeks beforehand so I could get started. He didn't have to do this but it was a big help. Packing day arrived. The team arrived on time, and were very friendly and efficient. They loaded many things on the truck that day, so there was less to do on moving day. They left our home by 4 pm, but left the TV and DVD player hooked up for us which was helpful given we have two small boys. On moving day, again the team arrived on time if not early! They were finished loading by 10 am, so we were at our new house by 10:30. They were finished by 3 pm!! That was such a relief -- because as I said we have two small boys, so we were able to get the crucial things organized and the entire kitchen unpacked by 8 pm. And most important, not a thing was broken or damaged in our move. The only thing that was misplaced was the 4 small screws for the TV stand, but I was able to order them from Samsung with no trouble at all. I called Doug after the move to see if they could pick up our boxes, which they did. Turns out we were supposed to have used boxes but the packers used new boxes, so they came to pick them up so someone else can use them. And I'm going to get money back for reselling the boxes to Beltway! In terms of the quote matching the final price, the final price was lower by $5. The quote was $3,561 and the final price came in at $3,556. It doesn't get much better than that!! I would highly recommend Doug Smith and the Beltway team for your move. I have moved lots of times both overseas and domestically, and this was by far the best move I have ever had in terms of professionalism, reliability and quality.

I have used Beltway Movers in the past and continue to use them whenever I move. From getting an estimate from Doug B., to Ali and his crew - they are always so polite, hard working, and efficient - I would never use anyone else. A+ from start to finish! Thank you for making my move less stressful!

I have not written before but wanted to express how well this company performed on 2 occasions. Just under two years ago, I needed to move my parents from thier home of 50 years to a new setting. It was a difficult and emotional time for everybody. BELTWAY MOVERS assisted not only in careful, organized packing and moving, but they were polite, professional and easy to work with. Now, fast forward, today we needed to move my Dad to a smaller place as we lost my Mom a few months ago. This too was a difficult process, and also a last minute request due to events out of our control. We were relieved to know we could call Beltway Movers and work with DOUG SMITH to get the efficient service and best cost. The move went smoothly and we are happy to recommend Doug and this company to anybody.

I had same crew when I moved twice. They were careful and punctual. They did a good job.

Initially, I found out about them by sheer luck. I saw one of their trucks on the Capital Beltway, This was the second time I had cause to contact Beltway Movers. The first time a year ago, we were helping our daughter move from Bowie, MD to Westminster, MD. These people were astonishingly good . They were on time, showed good attitudes and were efficient and speedy. When it came time to help her again, without hesitation, I contacted them again. Once again, they were on time with good attitudes and never once did they seem grumpy. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

It was the first time I had used them. It went great. I am using them again recently. They were the best movers I've ever used.

It was very good; I was very pleased. The price was very fair.

They told me that they don’t move pool tables themselves, but subcontract that job out. I didn’t feel comfortable doing that so I didn’t use them. I was pleased with their professionalism, however.

We have had a mixed experience with them. Sometimes they move really fast, but last time I thought they were too slow. We will probably try someone else next time.
