Beltway Movers and Storage

They double-charged me for travel plus an extra 30 minutes for services they didn't give and they refuse to refund me. For 2.25 hours of work, I had to pay almost $1400! I am pursuing this with my cc company.

Service was very professional but price is extremely expensive.

Al and Oliver arrived right on time, worked very carefully and efficiently. They couldn't have been more friendly, courteous or responsive and took initiative to assist in arranging for donation of items to local charities that can make good use of them. Very fair pricing and excellent value. I couldn't be more pleased.

This review is in reference to the Beltway Movers Rockville location: To save some money we used ABF U-Pack to ship the contents of our home from Fort Worth, TX to Germantown, MD. We loaded the trailer ourselves in Texas and intended to unload it ourselves in Maryland. But after getting it loaded and then driving halfway across the country we just didn’t have the energy or desire to unload the trailer ourselves. At the recommendation of our Realtor we contacted Bill Barrett at Beltway Movers. Once the trailer arrived at the ABF U-Pack facility in Maryland, Bill had a team set up to unload the trailer and bring the contents to our new home in Germantown. Admittedly it cost more than if we had done it ourselves, but Bill and Beltway Movers made it a quick and painless process. A special thanks to Greg, Al, Brian and Mike who actually did the heavy-lifting. They were friendly and got the job done in a timely manner. We won’t hesitate to contact Beltway Movers for our next move or to recommend them to others.

The crew, headed by Ali, did a fabulous job and could not have been friendlier. They worked well together and were very efficient. They went out of their way to ensure we were happy customers, even taking the time to attach felt pads I had purchased to the bottom of my furniture to protect the floors at our new home.

Beltway helped us with our local move and were excellent. Crew was professional and enjoyable. During the estimating process, they gave us lots of packing tips which ultimately saved us lots of time and energy as we packed ourselves. Would heartily endorse them!

The packing and move went great. No furniture or boxes were broken or damaged. The moving men arrived on time with boxes, tape, labels, dollies and pads. Very professional from beginning to end. We've recommend Beltway to our friends and know they have received the same good service.

They showed up on time (short 1 man who was sick) and moved everything without damage or problems out of a 2 story house. Being short 1 man didn't seem delay them or staying within the timeframe. We moved into an 1890's 2 story home which can be difficult as they didn't build to standards as now! Some of our pieces are large and they were able to negotiate the corners, staircase and doorways without hitting or damaging anything! Cudo's to Beltway and Gil & Moe our movers for doing an excellent job!

Excellent experience. The team showed up on time, packed quickly with care, and had everything unloaded in my new apartment by mid-afternoon. I am about to move into a condo, and they're moving me again. I absolutely recommend them.

Moe and his crew were on time, professional, extremely patient had several tasks, put partial load in storage loaded furniture into u haul and placed balance in house.

This moving team Moe Gibson, G. Malone and J Walker were Phenomenal. Their arrival was a few minutes late which made me a little nervous, but that is just me and no bad reflection on them. Traffic! I was simply amazed at their skills, expertise and professionalism. For young Black men, they exceed my expectations. Excellent customer service which is rare these days. But I must give Moe an additional praise. It is understandable why he is the lead mover. He has the ability to pick up furniture and carry it on his back. Awesome job! I don't understand why he don't have his own company. Yet, I applaud him for working as though it is his own. The team handled my furniture with care, nothing was broken nor damaged. The three guys were friendly and efficient. They broke a lamp, cat tree, scratched some of our hardwood, and scratched a door. Besides that, it went well and did not take as long as estimated.

**DO NOT USE THEM**. Damaged my air conditioning unit and would not pay for repairs. While moving my outdoor items they slammed my kayak into my outdoor air conditioning unit rupturing the oil line and causing over 2K in repairs. Getting the manager to assist was like pulling teeth and eventually he just sent it over to the insurance company and claimed everything was beyond his control. Problem is the insurance company is hired by Beltway Movers and denied the claim. Beltway Movers has shown zero interest in my customer satisfaction, even though they charge an arm and a leg. If all that weren't enough, the movers were quite lazy and discourteous. The one even argued with me over which parking space he could park the truck in. And to top is all off the other one smelled absolutely awful, and it was the first move of the day! Stay away at all costs.

I was very pleased with Beltway Movers and happy to recommend them. First of all, Victor in the Rockville office was very professional about taking an estimate of the items being moved and the estimated cost. HE followed through on every phone call with a written summary of what was agreed upon, which I appreciated very much. Second, the movers showed up on time with the right kind of truck and equipment. Third, the moving crew was amazing - they were very dedicated, fast and courteous. I was very happy with their professionalism and work ethic. Everything got to my new house in great shape and undamaged. THe price charged was very close to the estimate --no surprises. I was anxious about moving but Beltway made it very easy and even pleasant. Thank you, Beltway!!

I'd used Beltway Movers for a move back in 2005, so I knew to expect professionalism, punctuality, and overall great quality of service. In 2014, I decided that I wanted to move from Maryland to Virginia, and at the same time, my father downsized from a house to a condo and offered me some items he didn't plan to take with him. I had Beltway Movers pick up the items from his house in Baltimore and store them at the Rockville facility. It took me longer than anticipated to find a new home for myself, and ultimately I moved in February 2015. I arranged the move (as well as the simultaneous delivery of the stored items) through the Rockville office. The point of contact there is often difficult to reach by phone or email, and that is my only criticism of the transaction, and the reason why I rated Responsiveness a B instead of an A. On the day of the move, the dispatcher called to ask whether it was okay to arrive early, which was unexpected but appreciated. The move went smoothly and the movers were careful with my belongings. I have a lot of fragile items and everything arrived intact. I would like to commend them for honesty, as well: As they were getting ready to pull the truck out of the loading dock, they found a valuable men's watch inside and stopped me to ask if it was mine. I didn't think so, but said I'd ask the front desk whether anyone there had lost it. Later that afternoon, my father stopped by and I asked him whether the watch was his. It turns out he had misplaced it years earlier and thought it was gone forever. Somehow it ended up with the items Beltway Movers stored for me. He was grateful to have it back, and for me the experience further confirmed the wisdom of choosing the best service provider, not necessarily the least expensive.

The movers arrived at the apartment precisely on time (early AM, in single-digit temperatures), loaded my goods with unbelievable speed, and delivered the items exactly where I wanted them in my house. Also, helped out relocating some furniture already in the house, including takedown/setup of some beds. The two man crew worked hard and got the job done well within the estimated time. I used Beltway for my last local move, in 2002, and the quality was good then, too.

The move went very well. Although, a little bit shakey at the beginning with trying to figure out how to position the truck in the back of the apartment building, once the truck was in place the movers (2 of them) were very quick and efficient with loading up our packed up boxes and furniture. We then went to the Silver Spring house and they were great with moving everything out of the truck quickly, constantly asking us where exactly we would like everything to go, which was great. At the end they even double-checked to make sure everything was in the place and where we wanted it to be. Overall, they were very nice and quick, without any damage to the furniture, so I consider that a successful move. Thank you Beltway for making things easier on the day and helping our move go so great!

Prompt! Arrived exactly at 8 am. Surveyed three floors and got to work. All loaded in 3 1/2 hours. All unloaded and in place by 3 pm. Took great care with everything! Maurice (lead), Rob, & Aron were a great team. I'd ask for them again.

They were punctual, efficient and courteous. The move took less time than I had anticipated, and everything arrived in good shape.

Excellent work, crew was sent from Angels above. Driver Tim has the most experience, Renee and Edwardo were small but had very strong arms. Team worked efficiently throughout the day. They were very courteous and conscientious. I didn't have to worry about monitoring them since they worked so well on their own. We had very heavy marble top furniture set and a granite top dining table that weight about 300 lbs. Crew moved all into 3-levels with stairs very professionally. We also treated them very well, bringing back lunch for them based on their preference, and thanking them a lot and tipping $300 at the end ($100/person). They came slightly under budget and finished a little early. Move took about 9 hours with 3 men and 1 regular 25 foot truck. Even with 2 hours travel time added to the total, versus 1 hour travel time My Guys Moving & Co asked for, Beltway Movers were a lot cheaper and MUCH less hassle in the end. I had received in-house quote from My Guys Moving, but I didn't like how the estimator will add 100 cubic feet for every 20x20 inches small end table. Estimate I had from them was $1600 - $1850, and I am fairly certain we would have gone over the top number of their estimate. They keep saying I needed 4 guys minimum and 2 trucks. Well, my next door neighbor used My Guys Moving, and I could see them work. They sent 2 trucks and 5 guys. The 2nd truck did nothing but obstruct driveways, and only 3 of the 5 guys seem to be carrying stuff. Plus they threw away several drink bottles on my side of the lawn, so I was not happy about that. :-( Beltway Moving & Storage was EXCELLENT! But make sure to work with them to try to get the best team. I was a repeat customer and since it was going to be an expensive move, I think they made sure to send one of their top teams. Also, greet the team in the morning and treat them well, and it will be reciprocated. :-P

I used their online form to request an estimate, and received a phone call (and follow-up e-mail with written estimate) within a few hours. My point of contact, Doug, was professional, and explained everything to my satisfaction. Ultimately, I went with another company whose estimate was comparable.

I?m a repeat customer, having used Beltway for 3 recent moves, all excellent. Before I found Beltway, I had used 2 movers that both overcharged and broke stuff. They stand out for their 1) crush proof art boxes so you don?t have to pack your pictures, and 2) they rent wardrobe boxes so you don?t have to pack your closet. (And when I mentioned I was an Angie?s list AND DC Checkbook customer, they gave me a 5% discount plus a 50% discount on rental items.) Beltway give you an estimate over the phone that is accurate (and a probably a worst case?we?ve been under and they only charge for the actual time). In fact, the consultant we worked with, Doug Smith, has been excellent. Because we were moving mid-week, mid-month, in low season, the rates were much lower. They are incredibly efficient and I?m almost shocked how much weight some of the movers carried. I?ve recommended them to many friends and everyone has been happy.
