Beltway Movers and Storage

Beltway Movers was right on time to the minute and everything went so well. The 3 movers were very professional and polite. They worked quickly but were very careful with all of my boxes - many which were marked fragile - and furniture. One of the movers seemed to be in charge but all 3 worked well together. My final bill was actually $700 less than what I was quoted, so that was a big happy surprise. I would definitely use them again if I were in the metropolitan DC area.

The experience was really good. They gave me a really accurate estimate and they were very friendly and they showed up on time. I would use them again in the future.

I called Beltway about 10 days before I had to move out of the house I was renting (short notice due to some issues with a house I was trying to purchase that fell through an hour before closing). They were able to provide me a choice of days to move out and spent time talking to me to understand what I had to move to calculate the estimate for the move out as well as for storage. They even let me know that they could save me money on wardrobe boxes and the boxes to move my artwork by buying from them since they will buy them back @ 40% of my cost when I move into my new place. The team showed up within the window I was given and got to work immediately. Inventoried all of the items and even helped me by moving an old entertainment center I didn't want to take with me into the alley. The estimate wound up being right on target in terms of both time and cost for the move out. I do not yet know what it will be to move everything out of storage and into the new house once I get it.

They were great! They came on time, and they didn't damage anything. They moved the furniture well. They weren't particularly knowledgeable though about how to move out the furniture, so we had to move it out through the window.

They were on-time, efficient and the final job was done for slightly less than the estimate they originally provided. The team of 3 movers was friendly and hard-working.

They were professional, generally good but they came late because of traffic. They had a man disappear for a couple hours, they did give me a discount for a man leaving for a while, nobody there knew where he had went. They did a good job following me where we needed to go. They were very careful packaging my items.

We were extremely satisfied with the services provided. I was given an accurate estimate over the phone, and was told that the company would stay in touch to coordinate/confirm the time of the move. We received a confirmation call the day before our move, and a call from the office to let us know when the truck was leaving to come to our place the day of our move. The truck and three men arrived on time, and immediately began moving our things. We had not quite packed everything in boxes yet, but the guys were extremely helpful and flexible with the chaotic state of our things. The move took longer than we or they thought it would, and the movers were so pleasant the whole day. The move cost a little more than I think we were expecting, but it was virtually worry-free, and worth every penny.

Overall, they did an OK job; they tore a carpet and hit one or two walls but no major damage. The problem I had with them was that after the job was over, they called back and said they did the math wrong on the bill and I owed them more money. While I should check the bill more carefully, I simply had to take their word for this. When I told them I found this objectionable, I was told "well it still came in close to the estimate" which really isn't the issue, and isn't a good explanation. I note that another person had similar problems with their billing procedure as documented on Angie's List. It's not very professional.

The workers arrived on time and worked in a professional manner doing a good job.

After I called from Angie's List recommendation, they promptly returned the call for estimate, then good follow through on dates and moving hints. Everyone was on-time on moving day, the friendly movers outlined the day, and executed the plan to near perfection.

Their team of three arrived on the late end of their estimated arrival time due to delays on their previous move, but made up for lost time over the course of the move. In our original call with them, we had optimistically estimated that we wouldn't have many boxes for them, but we ended up having a lot of boxes left to move when they arrived. The movers were very efficient, however, and all the boxes only added minutes to the total move; we appreciated this effort, given that they charge by the hour and certainly could've used the added boxes as an opportunity to add to the bill. Our apartment had an elevator/loading dock/etc, so the loading was pretty quick. At our new place, they moved some furniture & boxes up stairs, some downstairs, etc, and were still very efficient and trouble-free.

Generally OK. The total cost of the move cost a little more than their estimate, but I had underestimated the number of boxes that I was going to have, so it all worked out. It wasn't cheap, but they did a decent job and the move was a little under what I had budgeted for (since I budgeted for more than they estimated, just to be on the safe side). There was a minor drama when the moving truck was stopped on 95 by the state police. We were stopped for about 15 minutes while the cops checked papers and radioed information. The movers deducted that time from the total charges but never did explain what was going on.

They work fast, efficient, polite and professional. They did damage some walls and there was also minor damage to some furniture, they credited my account with enough money to get the repairs done, which was satisfactory to me.

I can only comment on the move out so far, as our belongings are still in storage and have not been moved back yet. The final proof of the pudding will be what kind of shape everything is in when it is delivered back to the house. The move out was an unexpectedly positive experience. It was a very high-stress time for us. I thought I was going to lose my mind. Then the movers came and were so nice and polite and cheery. Just hearing their pleasant banter among themselves made me relax. They were very considerate and did not get freaked out over the chaos in the house. Our move was more complicated than most because some items stayed behind and others didn't, and they had to work their way around some construction obstacles. They never lost their great attitude. I will deliver the final report after we get our things back, but the move out could not have been more positive.

Movers arrived about a half hour late, due to traffic. Once they were there, however, they were very efficient and loaded the truck in just about an hour. It took longer at the new place, due to the configuration of the complex, but they quickly figured out the best way to handle the long distance between the elevator and the unit. Nothing was damaged and everything was put exactly where I specified.

Just fine. The company contacted me the day before to confirm times and locations. The 3-man crew (with 2 trucks) arrived by 8:10 AM in Gambrills. They spent approximately 3 hrs packing the two trucks. I was told that the 10 X 10 storage unit I had rented would be too small, and I was able to switch to a 10 X 15 unit. Great advice! They arrived in Rockville around 12:00 PM, and the furniture relocation went smoothly. The Gambrills furniture was moved in swiftly & without damage. Since it was so hot, & the crew was so tired, an additional 2-man crew was requested, and they showed up around 2:00 PM. That helped considerably. The storage unit move went even smoother. It was fascinating watching the coordinator pack up that unit - like a jigsaw puzzle. Every last inch of space was filled - there would have been no way a 10 X 10 unit would have worked. The 5 men were polite, very focused on their jobs, and extremely efficient. They were finished before 5:00 PM.

It went well. I received an excellent hourly rate because I reserved the date early. When I asked about the promised discount for being a member of Angie's list, they let us use the wardrobe boxes free of charge. (Wardrobes always used to be free, but it seems most companies around here are now charging $6 - 8 a box). The three men showed up early, were pleasant and friendly. They all worked hard, and two of the three moved quickly (an issue when you pay by the hour). They got the job done more quickly than estimated, and took good care of our furniture and the walls. Our only problem was that one large TV table couldn't fit on the truck, but that was no one's fault. I was VERY pleased with the price and service, as well as the office help.

Went OK; an easy job. It was 20 feet across an open carpet (that we had cleared of furniture in preparation for the refinishing). They came when scheduled and did it quickly and effectively. But, the estimate was high, and they charged me more than the estimate. It seemed out of line for such a simple job.

They didn t break or damage anything so I am real happy about that. They did a great job, I packed everything myself prior to the coming and they did all the other work. They didn t travel far with it and they were very careful and professional about it. They worked very timely and put everything they unloaded in the rooms I asked them to.

Apart from saving me from another mover who didn't show up on my scheduled move date, I found this team to be highly professional. They were extremely careful with my possessions, and polite, and worked efficiently.

Took about two hours. They was on time and friendly. They did their work professionally.

The pre-move packing job was adequate, but the move itself did not go as well as expected, especially considering the price. Some of the work was haphazard. For instance, we had been told that lamps would be packed as part of the move. Some were left behind. Others were packed but the shades left behind. One lamp was partially disassembled and the movers could not figure out how to put the parts back together at the new house. Another, an antique lamp, was warped on top. The movers did not always do as asked. Some boxes we asked them to move to the attic were left downstairs. This got to be more of a problem as the day wore on and the guys got tired, since narrow attic stairs had to be climbed. Some pieces of furniture we asked to have moved were left behind, and we have had to have another move scheduled to bring them. Our supervision probably should have been better, but we trusted them, especially galling since we tipped each one $80 (there were five movers).

Very good. Arrived on-time, worked quickly and carefully, no damage to goods or house. Plan to use again for the balance of my move.

I had engaged Beltway Movers to load about nine pieces of furniture, but when they arrived I had changed my mind and needed them to load furniture and many boxes. The two movers were skeptical at first that they could do it in time and make it all fit in the truck. But they worked quickly and without complaint and packed the truck tightly and well.

Extremely easy scheduling. Over the phone estimate was almost exact, company charges by time spent on the job. The guys called to tell us they were ahead of scheduled, arrived early, took great care of our stuff, and got us into our new place quickly and carefully.
