ABC Garage Door Repair

There were two guys, they were on time, and seemed conscientious and competent, and spoke well. They were here about 30 minutes. They talked me through what they had done and provided a good assessment of the general condition of the door and hardware. I was pleased with the service, notwithstanding the inability to provide new rollers as promised.

Based on what I received from the previous description of services provided I was very pleased with the overall outcome. The garage door sounds very smooth. I have newer parts and the door does not make that noisy sound it did when the door closed. I was told how to change the combination on the door keypad. Everything checked out concerning other operations that were not serviced. I am very pleased.

ABC was great during the scheduling and I was able to immediately have the doors serviced. The tech was prompt and professional and I was happy with the job performed.

Experience was excellent. He was courteous, prompt, and showed me a lot of what I need to do in the future. He even showed me how to repair a small problem that he found with the mounting bracket.

The servers arrived on time and introduced themselves. They described the work they were going to do and asked if I had any additional concerns with the doors. They performed the work in a timely manner and described any future concerns I should have for possible problems.

Telephone call to schedule was promptly returned. Work window of arrival was 2 hours. I think they were close to the arrival window. They called before they came. Work was explained and completed professionally. They removed all extra materials.

He came when he said he would, called to let me know he was on his way, and adjusted the door in about 20 minutes. The door operation seems almost silent now -- fantastic value!

This was our first experience using a provider through Angies List since we are relatively new members. When we received the email about the garage door repair for $99.00, we jumped on it especially since we had a previous estimate from anther company for the same service @ $430.00! Once we called ABC Garage Repair, we were able to get an appointment quickly, the technician was cordial, quick & efficient. Our garage door opens & closes so smoothly and quietly now. We will certainly use ABC Garage Repair in the future!

The service was performed as expected. They did provide estimates for additional work including installing new garage door openers, but did not hassle us to purchase materials from them as some companies will.

Service reps arrived in advance of the scheduled appointment. Service was quick and efficient (within 20 minutes). Reps provided very honest feedback on the garage door condition, look for's moving forward (in terms of my inspection of the door to determine when service will be needed) and potential remaining life of parts. I couldn't be happier with the service and will definitely use this company for future repairs.

This was a service which used an Angie Deal of $99 for one door, to which I added the second for $69. The company promptly returned my call after buying the deal and setup a derive date and time. The employee would performed the job arrived on time, after called about 20 minutes ahead to let me know he was on the way, which I appreciated. He was courteous, polite, dressed appropriate for the job and immediately went to work. It took about 30 minutes. He did not try to "push" other services or any products. I was very impressed with the profssionalism and quality of the service and the employee. I would highly recommended them to anyone.

Ami and Gideon did a great job. They identified the reason the door was so difficult to move - - the spring had broken - - and offered two options for replacement. I chose the less expensive one. They also repaired a bracket that was falling off the wall by remounting it. They explained what they were doing, went about the task cheerfully (even though it was 8 pm) and finished up quickly. They also gave me some tips to help the door function better in the future. I would certainly use them again.

No story. They came on time. Did what was expected in a professional manner.

On my first attempt to make an appointment, call the contact didn't seem to be aware of the Angie's List special for this service and indicated that she would have a technician contact me. No one contacted me, so I called back a couple days later and actually spoke to the owner. He was very apologetic and scheduled my appointment for the service. My aappiontment date was for Monday October 29, 2012 and although we were in the starting to be impacted by the edges of hurricane "Sandy", the technician still showed up on time and completed our service. I even called to give then a chance to reschedule, but the response from the office was that it was only a little rain and their technicians were not made of sugar. Although getting the appointment scheduled was a little rough in the beginning, the service and support after the appointment was made was excellent.

I thought it was a good experience up until they didn't show. When I called them the first time, I talked to a nice fellow who gave me an actual time for the appointment for 10:00 a.m. He asked if I had any questions and I told him I really wanted someone who spoke fluent English to come to my home. He said they would speak English fluently. I waited this morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and then called them. At 11:30 a.m they called me back and said the technician was finishing up on a job that is ten miles from the house and that he had to stop and buy parts for the door. He said it would be about 40 minutes. He did not show up until 1:40 p.m. He was a really nice fellow, he was very sorry, but did not speak fluent English. It just wasn't feeling right. The last contact I had made with them was at about 1:35 p.m. and the guy on the phone wasn't nice to me. He "explained" to me how businesses works in "this day and age" and he was very patronizing.

My 15-year-old garage door spring had worn out and broken. And then, unaware of the broken spring, I damaged the motor trying to open and close the door with a broken spring. (Hint to the rest of you: don't do that!) So I needed a new spring and a new garage door opener installed. I contacted ABC Garage Door Repair and ordered the $99 reconditioning package. The tech came out and told me I needed 2 new springs which he would install for $270 each. $540 seemed expensive but the tech included the $99 I prepaid through Angie's List and I agreed. He installed the springs and told me my motor was bad and I needed a new one. His company sold them and installed them for over $500. That seemed expensive so I decided to go to Home Depot instead. But I thought the guy had done a good job with the springs. He was very nice and the springs and rollers were certainly new. And he was nice enough to explain to me the basics of garage door mechanics After the spring was installed, I purchased a new garage door at Home Depot (for about $250...top of their line) and paid only $99 to Home Depot to install it. They put me in touch with Mr. Doors, Inc. of Alexandria (who I'm giving an A on Angie's List). Mr. Doors, Inc. came out and installed the garage door opener. After installation, it still seemed a little loud and slow. The technician asked me who installed the springs. He told me the springs were "unbalanced" and I should call the earlier technicians to fix it. I called back ABC Garage Door, explained to them the situation (I think I spoke to the owner) and told him they needed to come back to "balance" the springs. He threatened to charge me an additional price if it was not "unbalanced." I told him a professional garage door installer had told me it was unbalanced and offered to give him the name of the professional (Mr. Doors). He still threatened the additional charge. So Instead I carefully looked over the Home Depot contract, found out "balancing" was included in installation and called back Mr. Door, who graciously came and balanced my door at no charge (taking an hour or so to do so). I agonized over whether to give ABC a bad grade since the technician was so nice to me. I don't really blame the guy. It must be hard to "balance" a garage door spring without a working motor attached. But I do blame the owner for threatening to charge me if they came out to fix their own mistake. And I'm grateful to Mr. Doors, Inc. for their professionalism. Lesson learned: if you need a garage door opener or springs or reconditioning, go to Mr. Doors, Inc. of Alexandria. Don't hire ABC Garage Door Repair.
